Brady Hoffman has been a great friend and a big part of my life for 24 years. He is an amazing human being, a great father, and a damn good Sheriff who works to make our world better and safer.

Over the years, we've had many conversations. This conversation was the 2nd best one we've had. The best one was around a campfire in Phoenix, AZ. Just three good friends and a fire.

We have both changed for the better. Back in our 20's we were concerned about making money and living the good life.

Now we focus on our kids, family and our careers of helping others.

Brady was kind enough to share his story and be vulnerable to help others. If Brady can talk about mental health, alcohol, divorce and feelings, anyone can.

If you are struggling with life please reach out to a friend, a partner, your doctor, a counsellor or a mental health professional.

The national crisis and suicide hotline is 988. Or you can text HEAL to 741 741.

Thank you for listening to my conversation with Brady. You can follow him on Instagram.

If you or your organization are looking for ways to WorkHappy or How to Talk Mental Health at work, let's talk.

Remember to be kind, WorkHappy and reach out when needed.

You will be inspired by listening to Aaron Gleadow's story on the WorkHappy Podcast.

We met when I was his ticket rep for the Vancouver Canucks and he was managing the Keg on Granville Island. We became fast friends, watching hockey, hanging out and probably drinking too much. We continued our friendship until I got married and moved to the US.

Thanks to LinkedIn, we reconnected when I got a random phone call from Aaron at SeaTac Airport on my way to share WorkHappy with ALSD in Las Vegas.

We had plans to talk again in a week or so, and then I didn't hear from him for 4 or 5 months. I didn't know that he had checked into rehad to better himself so he could be fully present for himself and his boys. Aaron's purpose is to help others, like he got help himself. He has three wonderful boys, a very supportive partner and he loves his job. #workhappy

Enjoy our conversation. If you are struggling with alcohol please reach out to Aaron on LinkedIn, or a friend, or AA, so you can create the life you want, just like Aaron did.

Matt Batchelder is Vice President of Ticket Sales & Digital Marketing at Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) hockey team.

Starting as an intern back in 1999 Matt has woven his WorkHappy attitude into the culture of the Griffins at every level.

Matt shares about having to reinvent the Griffins ticket wheel and how they approached Covid, keeping their fans on board and getting fans back in the stands this season.  We agreed that when managing people, sometimes you have to ask two or three times, "HOW ARE YOU REALLY DOING?" to make sure our teams are healthy, mentally, socially and physically.

Matt and his team have done things the right way.  Playing the long game, but building healthy strong relationships with their fans to grow their base year after year.  Along with that, there's been a lot of ramping up recently, training a newer sales team and connecting with fans coming off a season where there were no fans in the building.

We both agree that working happy is the way to go, and the numbers show.  Happy sales people sell 37% more than their grumpy colleagues.

Hope you enjoy the conversation.  Follow Matt at Linkedin or drop him a line here.

Our guest today is a sailing enthusiast, father, husband, professor and psychologist.  He’s also my older brother and best friend.

Todd thrives on helping others live fuller lives and teaching future professors and psychologists, who can help make our world a better place.

When he isn’t working or spending time with his family, you’ll find him skiing, mountain biking or “trimming the sails on his 30 year old, 30 foot sailboat.”

Enjoy this candid conversation with two Canadian kids who grew up outdoors, without TV or screens, restored old Mustangs, and played pond hockey until it was time to go to bed.

We both learned that happiness early on and have relied on our friends, family and each other for a pick me up when we are down in the dumps.

Enjoy.

"I know I’m always going to struggle, but I’m going to struggle well."

Do you remember where you were when you saw 9/11 happening?

Hockey fans remember where they were when watching the Buffalo Sabers game in 1989 when Clint’s jugular was cut by an opponent's skate.

The shock we saw pales in comparison to what Clint thought while struggling to skate off the ice, because he didn’t want his mother to see him die on the ice.

In this episode, Clint shares his journey with the listener. Our conversation will make you think, it will make you laugh, and it will make you thankful for people like Clint who share their triumphs over lifelong struggles.

Clint is a wonderful human being, with a wicked sense of humor and a passion for sharing his struggles with mental health issues so others can thrive like he does.

Eric Kussin is a 20 year pro sports exec (currently team and league sales, marketing and mental health consultant) who was fortunate enough to find a higher calling after an intense mental health battle. Eric launched a global alliance of athletes and celebrities, along with expert practitioners: We’re All A Little “Crazy” and #SameHere.

The Global Mental Health Movement. Our members believe that life challenges affect all of us, no matter our backgrounds or careers, and that our mental health exists on a spectrum that we all fluctuate on, as opposed to: “the 1 in 5 sick vs the 4 in 5 healthy.”

Together, we are using our platforms and consistent messaging to change the narrative around the world, educate the masses, implement much-needed programs on the ground (programs w schools, colleges, corporate offices, sports teams, service men/women & first responders), and make it socially acceptable for everyone to ask for help when they need it.

The #SameHere🤙Movement is a campaign you will see woven throughout our communications. This is a sign language gesture that can be used universally in the context of the mental health world to mean: Same here, I too struggle with some of life’s inevitable challenges, and yes those challenges have affected my mental health. We’re all in this together.
