Jesus says that the ones who are hungry and thirsty are the ones who will find ultimate satisfaction and that those who are merciful to others shall receive mercy. How do we stay in pursuit of what matters most and not chase empty promises or selfish desires?
Jesus teaches us, not just through the sermon on the mount, but through His character and behavior, that meekness is the way into the promised land. How is it that in an age of posturing and impressing does meekness lead us into being more like Christ?
How is it that we can be blessed when we mourn? Mourning is not just the expression of grief it is the pathway to God's comfort.
How do we approach this political season as Christians who live in America? This week, we dive into the Beatitudes and look at how it is the poor in spirit who are blessed. How do we live as poor in spirit in a time and season when humility is rare and self-reliance is the mantra of the day?
This morning, we eagerly celebrate having some of our missionaries with us and hear how God is moving around the world.
What would it look like if we fully embraced our mission to gather, grow, and go for the King and His glory?
How do we as a church "Go" into the world and make an impact? Should we only go as a church or is there a personal command to "Go" as well?
As we consider how we will Gather, Grow, and Go for the King and His glory, we consider what it means to mature in Christ and become more like Him.
Have you ever wondered why we meet as a church in a building together? Is that the full extent of church? What is it that we are supposed to do when we get together? This week we tackle why and how we gather for King Jesus and His glory.
We all know we need friends, but things always get in the way of making deep connections with others. How do we need to address our priorities, our initiative, and our hurt when it comes to making friends?
What makes for a good friend? Through the story of David and Jonathan, we see that strong friends add value to your life and are committed to God's plans for you, no matter the cost!
Even though we’re more connected than ever, loneliness is still hitting hard in our culture. So, how can we as Christians really understand what community and friendship are all about? And how does Jesus shape the way we connect with each other?
As we mature in our faith, it is important that we make a distinction between the great love God has for us, and the ability we have to please him. Aiming to please God leads to radical faith, and that is what leads to transforming a city.
The next generation is an essential mission field for us, how can we be intentional with this high call for an eternal impact? The Bible and a recent study shows us how we can impact the next generation for God's Kingdom.
As we conclude the series in the book of Proverbs we see wisdom for everyday living for the generations. Whether you are young, in the middle, or older- there is wisdom to be gleaned for you!
The simple man and the seductive woman both can fall into the trappings of lust. But how do we stand strong, grow in virtue, and pursue righteousness? Proverbs helps us in all of this!
Are we diligent or are we lazy? How do we recognize the trends of the lazy and how do we stay on the path of the diligent?
Solomon wrote many proverbs about justice and righteousness. When we hear about justice and righteousness, are we thinking the same things?
When we are saved, we aren’t just saved individually, we are saved into a family! But have you ever wondered what it means to be a contributing member of a church family?
Proverbs explains to us the power of our words and speech. Our words have the power of death or life.
Wisdom is readily available for all of us but so is foolishness! How do we walk in the way of the righteous how do we avoid the pitfalls of the fool?
Trust in the Lord is a common command but unfortunately it is routinely compromised. How do we put all our trust in the Lord in our plenty and in our pain?
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but what does it mean to fear the Lord? Are we going about wisdom all wrong in our life or are we making every effort to become wise?
One of the biggest lies that we’ve believed about the Bible is that we could never do what we read about. This week we will see how to reject that lie, and walk in our true God-given calling!
Not only can you trust the Bible more than anything else in your life, you can trust the Bible to lead you into the fullest version of life.
How is a book that is 2000 years old still be relevant today? This week, we will consider how it is not just relevant but actually carries authority in our life today.
To experience the fullness of the power of the Word, we must be regular and consistent in its reading. Colossians shows that can only come through a reshaping of our desires.
Sometimes we believe the lie that the Bible is too hard to understand! Sometimes we read it and we just don’t get very much out of it. This week we tackle how we can change this for good!
Oftentimes, we will say things like “most of the Bible isn’t that interesting...” But maybe that’s because we don’t know the whole story- or the part we have to play.
As we kick off our new series delving into the life-changing truths of the Bible, we're going to dive into the cultural trends that brought us to this point and tackle that one big question we all have to face. Let's get into it!
In our final segment of the Fulfilled series, let's delve into the prophecy of the borrowed tomb. This tomb, though borrowed, stands empty, serving as a powerful symbol. It reminds us that our past can be forgiven, our present can be filled with purpose, and our future is eternally secured.
Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of His triumphant entrance to Jerusalem, look at how Jesus' life of humility and obedience can mark our own.
Humanity is broken and because of that brokenness, we all have the opportunity to run to different things to try to ease the pain. However, as seen through Hebrews 4 and the many prophecies Christ fulfilled, He became our great high priest for that very reason — to be someone whom we can boldly run to in our time of need.
The last supper is surely one of the most famous meals in human history. What if there was more to it than just a shared meal- what if this was the moment where an ancient tradition saw its spiritual significance fulfilled in the final sacrificial lamb?
Thinking about everything Christ has fulfilled boosts our confidence and trust in Him when things get tough. Remembering His past actions gets us excited and stirs up our hope for what He's got in store for the future.
God cares about us investing for the future! The problem is we can so easily fall into the trap of building a future that completely revolves around ourselves. How do stay focused on the kingdom of God and build a legacy worth leaving to the next generation?
Money is a remarkable tool that holds great power when managed wisely but can wreak havoc if left unchecked. This week, let's dive into five biblical principles that you can to apply to your money today and set you up for the long haul!
The story of Jacob and Esau shows us how to value and steward our blessings, and ultimately, how to bless others when we have been blessed.
How you spend your money says a lot about you. The Bible teaches us that money is one of the greatest tools we have at our disposal to inventory what our heart treasures.
Have we overcomplicated what it really means to be a Christian? Are we placing our efforts in the right things? James shows us simply that pure religion takes care of the vulnerable and walks a life in the Spirit.
One of the biggest hinderances we face daily is the battle of our minds and the patterns of our thoughts. How do we disrupt the persistent lies coming into our minds and replace them with truth?
What if you're not ready to give up sin or let go of distractions? This week, we're diving into chasing after the amazing prize that is Christ. So, get ready to run with all your might towards Him!
Jesus invites us to let go of sin and set aside distractions, following His example of living a faith without hindrances. He leads the way as the perfect model for us to follow.
We all need rhythms of remembrance. As we end the year, Taylor looks at a passage in Joshua to encourage us to look back at 2023 to prepare for what the Lord has in 2024.
We all need hope, peace, joy, and love in our lives. But let's be real, the versions we see in the world are too fragile and the solutions they offer aren't cutting it. In this series, we're diving deep into how Jesus coming to Earth brings real deal solutions to what our hearts desperately long for!
This week, Taylor preaches on joy during this advent season. Discover the pitfalls of seeking counterfeit joy that the world offers and learn from Mary, who beautifully demonstrates how to choose joy amidst suffering. We are called to be people marked by a deep unshakeable joy, rooted in the knowledge that Jesus has come and joy has arrived.
In a world filled with anxiety and uncertainty, how do we experience peace? In this second week of advent, we explore how we can actually cultivate and embrace true peace from God that goes beyond understanding.
As we begin advent, let's dive into the theme of hope. As believers, how do we keep our hope alive in a world filled with despair?
This week, Pastor Kent covered the topic of grace. Not only is grace essential for our salvation, but it also empowers us to live and love like Jesus. It's pretty amazing, right?
In 1 Peter 5, Peter shows us the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. This week, Pastor Brady Boyd shows us to resist him and stay steadfast in our faith!
As we conclude our series in Acts, we witness Paul's relentless pursuit of the Kingdom of God. Nothing could keep him from sharing the remarkable story of Jesus!
As Paul heads out on his next missionary journey, we begin to see the spread of the kingdom, not just the church. In Ephesus, we see specifically what the kingdom of God can do to a city.
In Acts 16, we see a historic worship service happen where Paul and Silas choose to praise the Lord in spite of their current sufferings. There is much we can learn from these heroes of the faith.
Saul & Barnabas go on their first missionary journey where they: encounter crazy stories, proclaim the gospel, draw people's attention to Jesus, and lay down their preferences for the sake of others. Today, we see that our call is to do much the same.
Sometimes, the church can have beautiful things happening all around while we still are struggling personally. But we also know that when struggles press in on the church, we often see her most beautiful work in the world.
The early church involved real-life people. When people are involved, things inevitably get messy. What can we glean from some of the people in the early church and apply to our messy experiences with church today?
Stephen didn't waste his life and God didn't waste his death. A lot of us wonder if we would be willing to die for God but the better question for today is, are we living for Him?
What makes a church effective? In Acts 2-6 we see what the church is about at its most basic and core level.
What is the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Acts chapter 2 sheds important light on how we as Christians can live in power even today.
The beginning of Acts shows us the blueprint for the rest of the book: to take the message of Jesus out to the world in power. But how did the apostles stay on mission? By believing in Jesus and surrendering to the Holy Spirit.
Taylor ends "Summer in the Psalms" with looking at the final psalm in the Book of Psalms. Psalm 150 is a blueprint to move us toward a life of worship. We will encounter various problems as we seek a life of worship, but God has given us beauty to help keep us on track.
Lament is an expression of our grief, but how we lament matters. This week, we consider the four pieces to Godly lament.
Grief is something everyone experiences but we spend little time exploring. This week, we will explore how the Psalms communicate the emotion of grief.
Psalm 139 shows us that God knows us, He surrounds us, He created us, and justice and righteousness belong to Him.
"Selah" appears 71 times in the Psalms. It's technical definition may be unclear but the principle can be fruitful for us in may areas.
Psalm 78 teaches us to rehearse the story of our faith and tell the coming generations the greatness of God!
We as Christians are called to walk in our royal identity. In Psalm 101, King David helps show us how to do that
Psalm 56 shows us how King David directed his fear into faith. How do we live with a faith that is for today?
Psalm 51 shows us how to genuinely repent. David shows us how to be grieved by our sin, turn, and ask God to create a clean heart within us.
In one of the most famous Psalms ever, we see David’s trust in the Lord. He teaches us how we can trust God to faithfully lead us into the fullness of life.
What is awe and do we feel it often? Today, we explore Psalm 19 and David's discovery of awe in creation and God's Word.
The Psalms serve as a powerful tool to help us engage and work through our ever changing emotions by giving us clear language to use in our personal prayer life. The duty then of every Christian is both to meditate and delight in the Psalms.
Sometimes, our doubts and dreams keep our mind stuck in tomorrow rather than leading us to be faithful stewards today!
As we conclude The Letters of John, we get a sense for how the early church would have loved and supported early missionaries: with hospitality, partnership, and prayer.
The apostle John is a master at showing tough love. Today, we look at how John does this so well. We can also authentically love people while we boldly stand for what is true.
As we wrap up John’s first letter, we dive into the signposts that assure us of our salvation. Faith, love, obedience, and victory are all reminders that we are on the right path to eternity with Jesus.
This week, we continue in our series, "The Letters of John". Taylor discusses how we can see the love, feel the love, and be the love in a world that needs the love of Jesus!
This week, we jump back into The Letters of John. In 1 John chapter 2, we see our advocate in Jesus, our adoption into God’s family, and our call to abide!
"Here to Stay" was an offering we gave a year and a half ago. Hear an update on how projects and finances are going while we continue to sow according to the Spirit! For the entire service with dedications + baptisms, visit https://youtu.be/aE3CUMn_Z5A.
This week, Taylor continues our series in The Letters of John. Taylor breaks down three tests of faith that John gives churches in Ephesus. These can and should still spur us on to be vigilant in our relationship with the Lord.
This week we begin our journey through the letters of the apostle John. We see from the opening pages, John’s heart for us to know the joy of eternal life and experience the love of God.
Jesus' last night on earth is marked by great pain and distress. Through His pain, we see our salvation, His love, and a template on how we endure through the trials and sufferings on life.
This week as we consider Jesus' last supper, we see the significance in what is happening physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Today, we start a new series following Jesus through the last days of His life, unpacking the last parables He ever taught. These parables teach us key things about eternity and have major implications for our behavior today.
Throughout this series, we've nailed down what we believe. Today , we try to answer the question, "how do we behave?"
This week, we look at how to be intentional with the season we are in to live a life marked by sexual integrity.
This week we considered how sexual fundamentalism and sexual freedom have failed to help us become more like Christ. Instead, we need to embrace a pathway of sexual formation!
What does the Bible say about homosexuality? How are we called to live and live in a world full of sexual brokenness?
Today, we look at the lies culture perpetuates about sex and what biblical sex can look like.
Authority of God & Scripture: God’s word is authoritative. Sex was God’s idea, the devil offers a cheap counterfeit. God's way always leads to flourishing!
We know that we have an enemy, but he has been overcome by Jesus! Our choice is who we will agree with and if we will share His story.
Worship is simply testimony put to melody and music. For us to be worshippers the Father seeks and people who are a wonder to those around us, we must have a robust understanding of the Old Covenant so that we can offer to God that which He asks of us under the New Covenant.
When our lives readily tell the stories of who God is and what He has done- we will be a wonder to many.
It's all about Jesus! He's the hero. He's the point of it all. He is over everything and so, in everything, we long to give Jesus His due attention.
We won't settle to be entertained, we want to encounter God. One encounter with the Spirit of God can change everything!
We are compelled to create. When we receive the peace of Jesus and look into the broken chaotic world, we seek opportunities to bring the peace and beauty of God.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together! Individualism can't be our posture because we is always greater than me!
This week, our guest preacher Pastor Brady Boyd, brought a powerful message on being distracted and how to stay focused on the assignment God has for each of our lives.
Language is essential. We seek to create and shape our culture by using words and phrases that accurately reflect the people we want to be and the things we endeavor to do. Words have the power to heal and the power to destroy, so we are quick to listen and slow to speak.
As Christians, we are ambassadors of another Kingdom. We carry the name of Jesus with us into every space we find ourselves in!
Taylor invites the congregation to consider their role in our body as spiritual parents. It takes a whole church to raise up kids in the ways of Jesus. Taylor unpacks the many roles we have in raising up the next generation of believers. Where do you fit in?
We have been saved, redeemed, and reconciled to our Savior. How can we not be a people whose default is joy? Some seasons will be awful, others amazing, yet the grace of God always remains.
Generosity is not a complex emotion that we have to muster in a moment. It is a simple response to Who God has always been.
Hear what God is doing around the world as we have a conversation with some of our favorite people - our missionaries we support!
We are Kingdom People. This week we look at what it looks like to order our lives according to the Kingdom of God.
God is using the church to re-family the world. Everyone is invited to belong in God's family!
We are Gospel Obsessed. The Gospel is not just a message we receive, it is a story by which we are sustained. Once we have received the Good News of Jesus, our only response is obsessive devotion.
As we finish the Gospel of Mark, we see through Jesus' death and resurrection an invitation for us to die and walk in resurrection life as well.
What does it mean to be redeemed? Do we settle for a watered down version or do we walk in the fullness of God's redemptive love? Peter shows us what it means to live a life that has truly experienced the restoration of Christ.
Jesus faced much rejection during His life on earth. We all face rejection, too - but, do we choose to live in it? The Father's invitation is for life and freedom from rejection!
This week in Mark, we consider the leaves of "spiritual legalism" and how we can we live a life marked by freedom and humility.
Guest speaker pastor Daniel Grothe speaks to the sense of loneliness that many feel in today's age of hypermobility and noncommittal wandering, reminding us of the ancient vow of stability and teaching us how we can lead a richer life of friendship, community, and purpose.
This week, through the disciples arrogance, we learn a valuable lesson on being humble. In humility, our role is to serve creation as we are being served by the Creator.
Finishing out Mark 10, Taylor breaks down what it looks like to receive the Kingdom of God like a child. Reminding us and encouraging us to evaluate our own faith to that of the childlike faith Jesus calls us to have.
In this week's passage through Mark, we see God's heart for beautiful marriages, the brutal pain of divorce, and the hope we have in His unrelenting love.
This week in our study of Mark we see with more clarity Who Jesus is. This story leaves us with profound implications on what it means to follow Him and gives us hope in the midst of our questions.
Join us as we finally get to see the real identity of Jesus, how He is a different kind of king than people expected, and why His wide offer for life is only taken by a few.
This week in Mark, we look at letting go of legalism and letting the grace of God push us towards Jesus and others.
In Mark chapter 5 we see the plans of the kingdom of darkness revealed. Listen to hear how the kingdom of darkness moves, how we fight it, and how we claim the victory that Jesus has purchased.
This week, we continue our series in Mark by evaluating more deeply what the Kingdom of God is like: how does it arrive, what is our role, and how can were expect to see it move?
The Kingdom of God is best displayed through the life that Jesus lived every day. The early chapters in Mark show us what a day in the life of Jesus looked like. How can we intentionally architect our lives around the kingdom rather than default to what our culture demands of us.
This week, as we embark on our Summer voyage through Mark we begin to consider the good news of the Kingdom of God coming. Can it be possible that the Kingdom of God is at hand? What does that mean and how do we respond?
Join us as we begin a series of messages going through the Gospel of Mark. Throughout this series, we will follow the life and ministry of Jesus as we answer the questions: Who is He? Why did He come? And what does it mean to follow Him?
As we conclude our Life On Mission series, we look at local opportunities to get involved in. Our church can't mature fully if we don't use the gifts God has given us to tell of His good works!
As we wind up our series on "Life On Mission", it's important to have our identity in Christ in place as the foundation of our service. This week's message will be a great help in establishing both who you are and what you do!
What does the Bible have to say about the church's mission throughout the world? This week, we explore how we as a church can make an impact locally while extending our reach globally.
Our God is the ultimate Creative. A life on mission would see our creativity as a gift expressed to give Him all the glory!
How do we embrace hospitality as we embark on a life on mission? Is the Bible's vision for hospitality the same as how we use that word so commonly today?
Easter is a celebration of Jesus coming back to life! But that's not all it is. Easter is also a day to be invited back to the abundant life God has for us.
How do we sustain a Life On Mission? This week, Taylor attempts to answer this question by turning our minds to eternity as the fuel for a Lifetime On Mission.
How do we live a life on mission in a country so divided between the left and the right? Thankfully, in a nation so polarized, Jesus offers us another place to fix our eyes and set our hearts: the Kingdom.
This week, we consider how we can live life on mission in our city. We serve our city by avoiding separation and rejecting our own sin. All while asking the Spirit to unlock our redemptive imagination.
As we continue the mission of God series we ask the question: "How do I love my neighbor?"
God has a mission. His mission is constantly developing and moving in the world around us and it begins with you and your family.
The Church exists for both worship and mission. The heart of God is to seek and to save the lost, comparing His ministry to fishing. It is vital that we see ourselves as fishers of men who are set on seeing the lost come to know Christ.
How does God define the relationship between you and the local church? Don't miss this week to hear what's going on around here at GSC!
As we close our series on communion, we consider how to consistently stir up our satisfaction in Christ.
Communion is not just meant for personal reflection but also to help build us into a people. People who are united through humility and compelled into self-giving love.
Join us as we discover how communion invites us to consider the sacrifice God has made, the future He has planned, and His presence for our present.
How did Jesus teach us to pray? The Lord’s Prayer provides us a blueprint for a thriving prayer life to be built. Press in with us as we are eager to grow in prayer!
People praying together is throughout the Scripture and yet we tend to neglect it today. Maybe it's because we are intimidated, nervous, or just being a bit lazy. We, as a church, are endeavoring to be a church of prayer!
How is your prayer life? Prayer is simpler than we often make it and at the same time, it is so profound that we shouldn’t live without it. This week, we consider how we can pray and things that often hinder our praying.
Having a lifestyle of communing with Jesus looks a lot like farming. It all boils down to abiding in Christ, sowing into the Spirit, and reaping a harvest of His fruit in our life.
The last Sunday of the year is a time of year when we have tons of questions. Questions about the last year, the next year, and everything in between. What questions should we be asking as we approach a new year?
From the beginning of time, God's heart was intimacy with His people. We see this in Exodus chapters 19, 20, and 33. And since Israel's life is a mirrored image of ours, we can also make a decision to pursue intimacy with our Creator. We were created for life within the tent!
Why did God save us? God saved us to reflect His image into the broken world we inhabit. The church embraces this mission by doing His work, embracing generosity, and receiving supernatural gifting by His Spirit.
God’s word is the path to life. If you deny the value of His ways, you will rob yourself of life to the full. But if you make your faith all about His rules, you will fail to walk in a covenant of grace. Our hope, is to approach His commands from a position of love which leads our hearts into genuine transformation.
After Israel’s dramatic rescue, they begin their journey into the wilderness. In the wilderness: they whine, they look back to Egypt, and they are continually invited to trust God every day.
Passover and the parting of the Red Sea reminds us that God has saved us when we are helpless to save ourselves. Baptism and communion are gifts to the church to commemorate this amazing salvation. This week, let our thanksgiving be rooted in what Christ has done to rescue us and defeat our enemy.
False gods and idols are still in our lives today. And God will show his power by tearing them down. What part of your life do need God to show up and bring down an idol in?
Pharaoh’s hard heart ultimately led to His destruction. As God initiates a relationship with His chosen people, our responsibility is to respond to His kindness and love and not let our hearts grow hard. We can trust in our relationship with God and the mission He has for us as we respond to His election.
Even In the midst of fierce persecution and dramatic oppression, God’s redemptive work is always moving forward and we are part of that work. Don’t wait for redemption- bring redemption. Take heart, because even in the midst of life’s hardship- if you look for it- His kindness is present in the midst of our darkest moments.
Today we embarked on our series through Exodus. Understanding this story of God’s promises, power and presence is key in understanding our story of captivity and freedom.
Faith stirs us to hope in the future, act in the present, and consider the generational story of Scripture.
This week we introduce some upcoming projects and ask the Lord to stir up our faith to give an offering on September 26 to build the house!
God has made a way for everyone to belong to His church. But everyone encounters barriers along the way. See how you can begin to connect here at GSC.
God has not just written His narrative over history, He is also writing a story in you! Testifying is just telling what God has done in your life.
Sharing the Gospel with friends and family has a track record of being awkward and difficult. This week, we are looking at practical ways to share the gospel with the people that God has already put in your life.
The presence of God changes things. We were made to be in His presence and His presence is the answer to our deepest need. None of us are qualified to step into His presence on our own merit, but thank God, Jesus has made a way.
God doesn’t place people by accident, and God did not give us a faith to sit still. We are here to serve because He first served us!
Culture seems to see authority as dangerous or stifling, which it certainly can be, but Godly authority always leads us into abundant life and safety.
As we wrap up Colossians, Paul has some final greetings that help us get a better picture of relationships. Check your circle, check your heart, and check how friendships can help you walk with Christ.
What does life to the full look like? How do we bridge the gap between the Christian we are and the Christian we want to be? More than anything, being a Christian is living a life in pursuit of Jesus' reign over your life. This week, we continue to look at Colossians and how Paul invites us to “put on” Christ.
What does it really mean to be a Christian? Is it the things you do, the way you speak, where you hangout on Sunday mornings? More than anything, being a Christian is living a life in pursuit of Jesus reign over your life. This week, we continue to look at Colossians and how Paul urges us, as Christians, to continually practice putting off our old way of life and putting on the abundant life found in Christ.
The scriptures declare that God is seeking people who worship in both Spirit and Truth. In an attempt to love God better and worship Biblically, we looked at seven Hebrew words for praise with an emphasis on the power of a spontaneous song.
How do we suffer well? Often times, when we find ourselves in the midst of deep pain we want to wonder why rather than how to live through it? How we live through our suffering will always speak louder than why we are suffering in the first place.
This week, in our study through the book of Colossians, we marvel at the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The good news that Jesus, fully God and fully man, stepped out of heaven to confront the reality of our sin to reconcile us, His beloved creation, back into relationship with Him.
The church in Clossae is in a small town and facing big problems. Syncretism and Gnosticism are creeping into the church and those ideologies still exist in the church to this day. Paul begins to confront these issues with an attitude of gratitude and a heartfelt encouragement to continue to be filled with the Gospel they received at first.
There are a ton of amazing churches out there- what makes us distinct? When we isolate one approach to church amazing things can happen but we can also see unintended consequences. Let’s identify who we are and unite around a shared vision of why we are here and what we are after.
Advent is the season of the year to behold Jesus, our Savior and King, and the miracle of the Incarnation. As we look at His arrival, we stir up hope and fuel our desire for His return.
