Spotlight Impressions: Recent Episodes

In each episode of Spotlight Impressions, I will be breaking down an event or the performance of one athlete, most likely a football or basketball player, from a particular game to learn more about them and to get a better feel for how they approach the game. Sometimes an individual performance gets lost in the entirety of a game, so I will be spotlighting one player and tracking them throughout the game.
With the 2023(-2024) NFL Week 18 in the spotlight, I review what teams have already locked up playoff positioning and who still has stuff to play for in the last week of the regular season.

In the spotlight for this episode is an unusual, sometimes deprecated fantasy football draft strategy: selecting both an early TE and an early QB. I go through a mock draft trying out the strategy from the 1.04 position.

On this episode of Spotlight Impressions, as a follow up of an episode of the podcast Fandom Talk, Chase talks with Josh Hardesty and Al Mattingly of The Fandom Correspondents about the Eastern Conference on the opening night of the NBA season. This is a podcast-record for length, and it ain't close, folks. Starting at 1:40, we discuss the situation with Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers. At 33:33, the discussion transitions to Kyrie Irving's activities with the Brooklyn Nets. Then, at 49:23, we each pick 4 teams we think are at least somewhat threatening to win the conference and discuss each team's chances, ending with the team we think is most likely to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals.
