In this solo episode, Allie is revealing the dagger-to-the-heart comment made by a coach that her younger brain internalized and turned into a fear of wasted potential (also a fear of unlimited potential). Immersed in the worlds of competitive cheerleading and dance while growing up, there were constant voices and messages reinforcing that being perfect was how to succeed. Tune in as Allie reflects on the culture of perfectionism that created these fears, the hurtful comment that led to low self-worth, and how she's desensitizing the critical voices in her head to lean into her full potential.

In a chat with mentor and former manager Tamara Clarkson, Allie reflects on the consequences of showing up as the “yes girl” at work and the reasons why she quit her most recent job. Sometimes it takes more than one misaligned job situation before you learn to never settle again. Incorporating her perspective as a career counselor and therapist, Tamara helps reframe the experience to highlight all the knowledge gained around boundaries in the workplace, advocating for yourself, the unspoken caveat to people’s opinions, reducing the stigma of gaps on a resume, and more. Your body is not failing you; it’s talking to you. Deanna Tikhonov is a women’s health nurse practitioner who created a concierge medicine experience for women who want more from their healthcare. Through her own experiences with debilitating migraines, cystic acne, painful periods, and treatment plans/pills that didn’t work, she began investigating the power of food as medicine and implementing a more holistic approach to improve her health. Deanna is sharing how those experiences uncovered a need for a better way to help women with their health, leading to the creation of Women’s Holistic Wellness, a full service concierge medical practice to provide personalized, 1:1 consultations to women who have been told “there’s nothing else that can be done.”

“You don’t realize when you’re feeling bad because it becomes your baseline.” Join Allie and Deanna as they discuss societal programming around women’s health, healthy vs unhealthy stress levels, balancing hormones, and reframing our relationships with our bodies through food, yoga, and self-care.

Women’s Holistic Wellness services are open to women nationwide through virtual sessions. You can connect with Deanna here:
