A few months back we decided we would transition into other mediums of "edutaining" for our audience. The highlight has been hosting all our amazing guests and connecting with our global audiences. So much wit and wisdom, learning, laughter, and love was shared.

We will delve into the wisdom of sages throughout time, including the past year and a half,-"So deep is the creative spirit that you will never discover its limits even if you search every trail! (Heraclitus)

There are times when in order to grow you have to let go of the very things that helped you attain success in the first place. Roger Von Oech

And our own learnings: with every episode we needed to be imaginative, to tolerate ambiguity, reverse our expectations, view things metaphorically, and probe for hidden meanings. In short, we needed to adopt the mindset we (might choose to ) use when we're creating something.

We'd love to hear your experiences, comments, tips and other wit and wisdom that we might share next week, "Happy Continuation Day" episode. We are thankful and grateful for your presence, and gifting both our guests and our audiences with lively conversation, tears of joy and laughter and how together, we may have changed a few lives. Much Love!

You may respond on LinkedIn,

via our email: changezonetalk@gmail.com

Rest assured that all the episodes are safe and sound on the various platforms in perpetuity.

Ongoing thanks to our ever-expanding community of Changemakers; Leaders who dare to step into the changes and resources right before us all.

May all respond to the call, the search, the struggle, the breakthroughs and the return.

Chris is a certified life coach, professional organizer, and practitioner of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), who dreams of a day when empathy skills flourish to support our children and end senseless violence. When she discovered NVC in 2013, Chris was moved by its simplicity and depth. One 3-hour workshop changed an 'enemy image 'of her teenage daughter into compassionate understanding. As a volunteer at Lilly May Carrol Jackson, a girls' middle school in Baltimore City, Chris dealt with students' emotional upsets and conflicts by listening for feelings and needs. She began an after school sewing group to have connected conversations with a small group of students. Chris hopes to raise awareness of the NVC learning community with her children's book, An Inside Story: A Children's Book for Grown -Ups Too! which was inspired by her daughter and the girls of Lilly May Carroll Jackson School.

KZ, Grandmother Of Two "Using very simple language and images, this book helps children ... and adults too ... understand how thoughts, emotions and physical sensations are driven by needs that we all share. More importantly, the book provides guidance on what to do to move forward despite the scariness and ickiness we might sometimes experience. I can't wait to share this book with my young grandsons and will be sure to use the practice page and discussion questions to help them really connect with the book's lessons."

Who is Chris Harstein

Chris uses her training as a certified life coach, a practitioner of Nonviolent Communication, and extensive creative materials to facilitate parenting classes with refugees, conduct online empathy groups and support other NVC trainers through her work with Capital NVC.

She wrote and illustrated her children's book,(available on Amazon) to grow awareness of the practices of the NVC learning community which helped her transform her parenting and increased her inner peace.

As Chris notes: "On the inside all people are more alike than different!"

She also enjoys creating content on Instagram @an.inside.story.

What do Friends do? They hold space for each other – space for silliness, doldrums, reaching out for a hand up, to hang in there, and a hug. They give each other a hand to paint that room, get into some shenanigans and laugh, or cry, or laugh till you cry, cry till you laugh together! Space to be still and silent without asking "Why did you come to be here?" In this space Friends listen, converse, and share the conversation and investigation of the territory of the heart. Because they can.

And yet as Gilles Dahan commented once in Social Media, I can know you without knowing you!

It’s uncanny how our pets will sense something isn’t right with us even before we do! If only we could talk to the animals.
Actually, Canada’s foremost animal empath, Mary Stevenson can.

Combining over 25 years of experience with her training as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master, and animal communicator; Mary uses her extraordinary intuitive healing gifts to go right to the source of what’s causing your pet’s illness or unusual behaviour.

Often she finds that the problem lies within you! Because of the deep human-animal connection, anything out of balance within us directly affects our pets. What we interpret as something amiss with our animal can be, in reality, their attempt to mirror our issues and thereby, communicate a valuable message. Without our four legged best friends, we might not even realize difficulties exist!

By helping people to discover and release the debilitating, deep-seated, emotional blockages that are holding them back, Mary enables her human clients to finally move forward towards achieving their goals and living their own best life.

So, in essence, heal yourself, heal your pet!

Mary Stevenson

We at The Change Zone are honored to travel with Mary in this episode as she leads us on a journey of discovering the power of words and thoughts.

What questions have patiently waited for you? “Questions that have no right to go away!”
Our culture has generally tended to solve its problems without experiencing its questions. Socrates.

Double Dart: are you hitting the bullseye twice, or pinning your own feet to the floor? Is how you are showing up helping for the good of all?

May you get what you truly want and want it when you truly get it!
However, when what we want is not, in fact, what is happening, we need the skill of turning “it” on and turning “it” off.

What are questions we can trust, that put us in a leadership/destiny mind set on the Judgement Train so we can move past a short-term/destination mindset!
Trust the art of intention: the CALMER approach - speed up to slow down.
Give yourself time to make a shift.
Get-it-done- by taking a step back.

Am I proud of what I have chosen to do?
Who is coming with me on my journey?
What will I be doing when I get there?
How can I give my best and yet not my all?

Balance is when to, not how to: renew, regenerate, heal, embrace, and repeat consistently.

Our email is changezonetalk.com. We’re about creating The Community that Embodies Change, one conversation, one story at a time. Everyone is welcome in The Change Zone.

Can you be Smiling and Struggling, Vulnerable and Flawed, Capable and Lost for example?
We asked this question in our last episode #31 Tidy Katie Returns to our Neighborhood. We asked this of our guest Katie Hudson as she heads into baby number 2, and Gail McDonald and Susan Sneath asked ourselves questions like these while we took on an organizational challenge Katie set us. We also regularly ask these questions of ourselves as we continue to create the community that embodies change, one conversation, one question, one story at a time.

Episode 32 “Can You be Both – The Agency of Choice!?!” June 27, 2022.
Life is quite the balancing act, whether we are looking to be our best or make the best of the challenge or kitchen sink that life flung our way!!!
How do we react or respond to the possibilities, life hands us?

•We’ll sort through 3 guiding principles of leadership
•The power of the stories old and new that we and others have lived and loved through hard times
•Ways to hold a space for change, moment by moment, day by day

We have the agency of choice that can put us in the leadership seat on The Judgement Train!
Gail McDonald and Susan Sneath are committed to act on the stories we tell, to deliver the stories we live, the stories we’ll laugh about later!!!

That’s what we do to Embody Change in Community with a Destiny Mindset, moving past and through that destination mindset.
Join this community that embodies change on The Change Zone, one conversation, one story at a time. Everyone is welcome in The Change Zone1
All aboard!!!

“Embodying Change” is a ‘come as you are’ game. Grab your courage and join us in The Change Zone as we stumble, tumble or stride into Embodying the Change and Resources that are always right there before us!
During change you’re bound to bump into things, each other, and yourself! That’s part of the game.

In The Change Zone episode #30 “Embodying Change is a Contact Sport”, Gail McDonald - Change Optimizer/Relationship Architect and Susan Sneath - Story Architect/Social Pioneer play with Themes and Questions that run through our adventures in The Change Zone and this episode:
•Embodying Change and choosing to Re-frame
•There’s a place for our quirkiness - the world needs it! What is the story you are living right now?
•What resource is right in front of you, right now that you may not be seeing?

In The Change Zone we support leaders of all shapes and sizes who embody change, who try, who dare to bring their/our creative visions to life in this everyday world.
We bring Trust as a player in this "Infinite Game" of no winners, no losers. Trust in ourselves and others because it's fulfilling and fun to contribute to something bigger than ourselves, a legacy lasting well beyond our lifetimes.
Trust that when we make time to connect with ourselves and our community with no strings attached, magic enters. As Nola Simon is fond of saying "The Magic is in the action.”
When we “try”, the game gets going. As Kathryn Zukof commented recently after viewing episode #29 (The Resources are always right there!) with Gerry Potter - “My new quote of the day, Yoda was wrong. There is only try.”

The Change Zone welcomes Storyteller Gerry Potter in episode #29 - “The Resources Are Always Right There!”

He’s multiple award-winning, as a producer, writer, director in film and theatre.

Themes running through his adventures and this episode are:
•The Power of Story and its Relationship to Change and our World

•Embracing or dealing with Change - finding courage and creativity in ourselves

•Reframing: Finding and using the resources at hand, whether in failure or success

In episode #26 “You’ve got Quirks – and You’re Wonderful!” The Change Zone invites international speaker and 9-time award-winning author Kristin A. Sherry into play. “The more you know yourself, the less you rely on others to tell you who you are.” Kristin notes with a smile.”. This book really boils down to one word and that word is Belonging. Belonging is a basic human need and stories help us feel like we are understood and that we belong. There’s always a universal truth to stories that are powerful, and a universal truth of this book (there’s more than one) is “There’s a place for everyone.”
You’ve got Quirks and You’re Wonderful” tells the true stories of people who were “different as children. Other kids and some adults didn’t understand them and teased them. At the time our quirky heroes felt embarrassed and powerless but living with quirks taught them valuable lessons they now share with you. Susan Sneath asserts “I couldn’t resist purchasing this book. In part because I know some of the people in this book. Nola Simon (of episode #10 Stir Things Up!) for example! She and other folks have moved into powerful lives that are inspiring. I bought multiple copies and passed them out into my community, and it has become a game changer with everyone who shares it. We’ll be talking about the power of stories, of leaders who come in all shapes, ages, and sizes, of learning opportunities and the fun of spontaneity and surprises which leads to building bridges in our communities.
Imagine if every child could not only learn to love who they are but feel courageous to tackle life's obstacles.
If we don't accept and love ourselves, we won't feel courageous to tackle obstacles or stand up for ourselves. Our life experiences will wildly differ from those who are able to grasp this. We can all learn from the courageous real-life examples of others. Our attitude determines our altitude!

In episode #25 “Change is a Contact Sport”, Gail McDonald - Change Optimizer/Relationship Architect and Susan Sneath - Story Architect/Social Pioneer, see “Change” as an infinite game or sport of no winners, no losers, that we can choose to be engaged in. During change you’re bound to bump into things, each other, and yourself! That’s part of the game. Come as you are.
The "Infinite Game of Life" is an engaging hands-on process that takes physical exertion, and skill. If you’re feeling stuck and wary of the change before you, we’ll take you thru trustworthy systems that allow all of us to be comfortable with uncertainty even though the 6 losses are often present (attachment, turf, structure, future, meaning and control). We can still dare to show up and choose to be present while we venture, stride or saunter into areas that are unknown, unclear, unexplored, and unexpressed.
This is what The Change Zone does. In this episode we bring Trust as a player in this "Infinite Game”. Trust in ourselves and others because it's fulfilling and fun to contribute to something bigger than ourselves, something with value that will last well beyond our lifetimes.
Trust that when we make time to connect with ourselves and our community with no strings attached, magic enters, and we can find ways to fit things back together again in peace, beauty, and harmony.

In episode #24, “Let go of the Past – Move into the Now!” The Change Zone welcomes Katie Hudson, a Creative and a Professional Organizer (Tidy Katie).
Are you tired of feeling a certain way in your space, not finding your stuff and that disorder brings chaos to your day? Never fear Katie is here!!!
Katie notes that organizing goes beyond our physical items. “It is more than just stuff; it is your peace of mind and wellbeing. Tidying brings us into the now. We are intentional, make choices, we let go of guilt and shame.”
Katie guides us to move out of the past. Move into the now. Tidying brings us into the now. It’s about letting go of our stuff and our emotional baggage attached to our stuff.
Katie will share the “secret” of organizing. We are greatly affected by the energy of our space. The organizing of our things affects our mental health. The skills in organizing can translate to other areas of our lives, mental health, boundaries and so on.
Everyone has different ideas of being organized and Katie delights in finding and adjusting a personal fit or balance to a diverse clientele. Her rule of thumb is “Organize your stuff so you aren’t afraid to make a mess!”

In episode #23 “Why Chatter Matters – The Magic is in the Action!”
Gail McDonald, TranscendentSelf Change Optimization specialist and Susan Sneath, Story Architect/Social Pioneer of The Change Zone will be asking and discussing – what “Chatter” is and investigating what Channel your “Chatter” is set to? Is it a negative one or a positive one?

“The Magic is in the Action” refers to the Choices that are right before you:
The Choice to listen kindly and ask questions. Ask “Who is running your inner commentary - is it your inner critique, your inner task master, your inner doubter, or your inner coach?”

The Choice lies before us to stop, consider, change, and correct the systems beneath our goals, drives, needs, and wants. We can choose to reflect, to act, to dare to fail, fail again and then fail better by failing forward! The acronym F.A.I.L. - first attempt in learning is calming, exciting, boosts self-esteem and confidence!

The Change Zone asks: “What activities, systems, or perceptions work for you in improving your mental self?” This is an ongoing process. As Kathy Zukof asked in our last episode #23 “The Eye of The Storm” – “What were the results? What didn’t work? What have I learned? What can I do differently next time?”
This handy debrief can be used to move boldly into the Change before us.
The ACTION IS LISTENING. The ACTION IS CHOOSING. When you listen and choose, Magic enters the equation...ongoing!

She’s a thought leader and advisor to people and organizations as they wrestle with change, leadership development and organizational learning. It can feel like the storms of change are all around us these days. We could use an Option Maker. What is an Option Maker anyway? An Option Maker is simply someone who can calmly help you identify and take advantage of opportunities you hadn’t previously considered. Passionate about the concept of polarities – how do you find “both-and” solutions? Kathy’s favourite question is “What questions haven’t you asked?”
She will bring the” Red Team” or “Devil’s Advocate” concept into play in The Change Zone. Kathy reveals how she takes bold moves in her personal life journey, while being “inner critic dominant”!
She takes on a variety of roles to sustain her “Calm in The Eye of The Storm” demeanor: Meditator; Gardener; Writer; Guest Speaker and Lecturer. Kathy is an avid walker, currently pondering which path (physical and metaphorical) to explore next.
