Join host Olivia Alnes on an adventure of shaking off shame, stirring up hope, and running after God-given dreams together. This podcast will encourage and equip you to pursue a life of wholeness + impact through powerful interviews and short solo shows.
When we talk about shame, we need to go to the beginning and lay the foundation for the story. Shame has been present as long as sin has been around - and alongside our fall, came a Promise of redemption.
We all go through dark times when it feels like the weight of the world is beating us down. It can feel like you’re stuck in a pitch-black tunnel with no exit in sight.
But there is always hope.
This month, our goal is to keep a conversation going about faith and mental health. You’ll be hearing on the blog and on instagram from a variety of perspectives, all sharing with the desire to serve and encourage. You’ll find practical tools, reminders, personal stories, and hopefully a whole lot of hope.
I’ve come to see therapy less as something to fix me, and more as something to keep me on track and propel me forward. It gives me the tools to work things out on my own in between sessions. No other person can do the work for me.
We don’t always consciously disagree with Jesus’ approach to the one we have determined least deserving of mercy. But our “us” vs. “them” stance or picking sides to champion can at most times display whom we chosen not to give it to. I am in no way excusing how sin affects us as a society and particularly as the Church. However, I recently realized how we often miss the spiritual element behind our unhealed pain and divisions.
The following excerpt is from my devotional book, I Like Your Tenacity: 30 Anthems to Stir Up Hope in the Middle of Disappointment. If you’re still working through some disappointment from 2020, it’s the perfect tool to gently walk you through the process.

Racism will get in the way of wholeness and impact.
Here’s my action plan specifically for The Wild Abide and how I want to better steward this platform to promote Kingdom Justice and racial reconciliation.
I am with you and for you.
But way more importantly, God is with you and for you.
I won’t pretend like life is easy. I won’t promise you that you’ll get everything you desire. The struggle is real. The overwhelm is real. The confusion is real.
But so is the hope.

This is a weird, tough time to be someone who struggles with weight, food feelings, and body image.
Half the internet is telling you to work out and eat healthy. Half the internet is saying to drink all day and eat junk food. While people joke about the quarantine-15, the thought of gaining another 15 pounds might send you to a place of anxiety or fear.
