In this week's message, Aaron Brockett explores the foundation of the Christian faith through Mark's account of Jesus' death and resurrection. He explains how the eyewitness testimony surrounding the empty tomb provides compelling evidence that Jesus truly died and truly rose again, making the resurrection the defining event of Christianity. We also explore that even Jesus' closest followers struggled with doubt, reminding us that faith is not blind but grounded in the truth of God's Word. Most importantly, we are challenged to consider what the resurrection means personally: if Jesus conquered death, He has the power to forgive our sins, transform our lives, and offer us the hope of eternal life. This challenging message invites us to examine whether our hearts are aligned with God's compassion and burden for a lost world. In this message, Rick Atchley of The Hills Church in Fort Worth, Texas, kicks off a powerful new series through the book of Jonah by looking beyond the famous story of the great fish to the greater story of God's relentless mission and mercy. Through Jonah's attempt to flee from God's call, we are challenged to consider the deeper question at the heart of the book: not whether a man can survive inside a fish, but why people so often run from the will of God.Drawing from Scripture, this message highlights God's sovereignty, compassion, and desire to rescue those who seem farthest from Him. In this message, Ben Cachiaras, Lead Pastor of Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland, reminds us that one of the most powerful ways we can love others is simply by listening.Through the story of Jesus stopping for the blind beggar in Luke 18, we see that while everyone else ignored him, Jesus heard him, gave him His attention, and showed him dignity and compassion. The message challenges us to recognize that people today are desperate not just to be talked to, but to be truly seen, heard, and understood. In a noisy and distracted world, listening has become a rare act of love that reflects the heart of Christ. We are called to slow down, ask meaningful questions, and love others by giving them our full attention. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/326/29?v=20251111

Trust is a funny thing. By that I mean how we sometimes trust but other times not so much. For example, we trust that as we approach on coming traffic on the highway those drivers will follow the rules and stay on their own side of the road, even though they may be disregarding the rules about speed. We may not trust a politician yet we elect them and trust them to run the country we live in. In the same way we call on God in times of trouble yet trusting His word, His promises, His plan for our eternity, not so much. This month, Gene Appel who ministers with Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, California has been walking us through the book of First Peter gleaning from its pages foundational life concepts that will help us live out Unshakeable Hope. One of the original 12 followers of Christ, Peter penned the letter of first Peter to early Christians to help them live in Hope through Unwavering Trust in the Eternal God and His plan for redemption through Jesus His Son. Have you ever wondered, what drives this world, where this world is headed? Ever wanted to just shout: Stop the world, I want off. There were some folks, a long time ago, that were probably thinking just that. Persecuted, displaced from their homes, not really belonging. In the Bible there is a letter of hope written to people actually living that out. The Bible’s book of 1st Peter is that letter. This week, Gene Appel who ministers with Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, California is walking us through the book of First Peter gleaning from its pages foundational life concepts that will help us take on UnShakeable Hope. In his letter, the follower of Jesus, Peter uses a concept that most all of us find very, very scary. Sometimes do you ever wonder, am I enough? Am I too broken, too flawed, or even too exhausted to keep going? This month, we invite you to listen in as we discover, from a Jesus follower named Peter, how God is bigger than our story, greater than our circumstances, and stronger than our storms. This week, Mike Breaux, teaching pastor with Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, California with multiple campuses in Southern California and beyond, is walking us through some foundational concepts of grace from the book of First Peter. Turbulent times can leave us unraveled, unsure, undone, and, let’s face it, insecure. But, when we turn our lives over to the God and Father of Jesus Christ, He can, and will give us a living hope through the resurrection and undeserved grace of Jesus. Through-out the month of September our messages have centered on how, in all of our lives sometimes, life’s struggles are very real! Our speaker this week follows up on that series with a reminder that dealing with life’s struggles for the long term, requires living a life that does not follow the norm. Today’s speaker, now retired, Tim Harlow, was the lead minister of Parkview Christian Church, located in the Chicago, IL area. In today’s message Tim challenges the concept of 'normalcy,' using his own unique style of humor and personal examples to illustrate how societal norms might not lead to long-term fulfillment. In fact, Tim implores us to be "Abby-Normal" by prioritizing values over immediate desires. So, not sure how the term Abby-Normal plays out? Here’s Tim with the low down on how Abby-Normal, the narrow road, and the Bible’s account of the lives of brothers, Jacob and Esau, can help us live for the long haulTo support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/326/29

Will Rogers, who was an American humorist, actor, and author in the early 20th century is quoted to have said: Too many people spend money they earned to buy things they don't want to impress people that they don't like. Our speaker today, Pastor Aaron Brockett; lead minister, with Trader’s Point Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana is teaching from letter in the Bible written to a church of cultural rebel’s in the city of Philippi. Have you ever considered Joy to be a layer of protection against the pressures of life? Okay, probably not a definition of Joy you probably would latch onto?! However, in the Bible, there is a letter written to a Church of Cultural Rebels with encouragement to look to someone, beyond themselves for their source of Joy. The book of Philippians teaches that joy isn’t dependent on circumstances; it’s dependent on who or what we ground our identity in.

In today’s lesson, Aaron Brockett, lead minister, with Trader’s Point Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, relates how the pressures of life can lead to temptations to do our own thing, to get our own way, to make it all about ourselves and how these false defenses can kill the joy that can be our true defense.

So, in a Rebel’s Guide to Joy sort of way, here’s where Joy becomes a bullet proof vest for your soul

This week we begin a new series I Know it When I See It with Gene Appel. Gene is the lead minister at East Side Christian Church with 4 campuses in Southern California. But, some things are just better demonstrated ~ in Love. I Know it When I See It: Love and Kindness is based on Galatians 5 and we will be looking at the kind of character traits the Holy Spirit wants to produce in all Christians: Love, joy peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. Throughout this month of January, Aaron Brockett, lead minister with Trader’s Point Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana has been helping us tackle the question of how to be formed more and more into the image and likeness of Christ, within a culture that wants to shape us into, something else? I once hear a young minister tell of an encounter with a man well mature in years. His question to the elder man was at what age did temptation stop becoming an issue in his walk of faith. The older man responded; I’ll let you know when I get there. In the Bible’s book of Daniel there is the account of a 80 or 90 year old Daniel faced with death over praying to the one true God. In this account of a life and death situation hinging on how far to trust God, Daniel chooses to place his life in the hands of the eternal God rather than bow to the culture of men.To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/326/29

Merry Christmas, to you and to those important to you! Our prayer this Christmas season is that the lights, the decorations, the celebrations, all will give you pause and be a reminder that there is a God who loves you and made the first move through His son, Jesus, to give you a way back to Himself. The Holiday Season, Christmas, and the New Year. The time of year when we would really like everything to be idealistic, you know, peace, goodwill, and such. This month our series has been based on principles from a prayer called the Serenity Prayer and how specific characters in the Bible’s account of the birth of Christ demonstrate those principles. How to deal with things we cannot change, how to change the things we can, and this week; asking for God’s wisdom to know the difference. One of the earliest fairy tales I remember my parents reading to me was the story of the three little pigs. Remember that one? The story dates back hundreds of years and in the story three pigs build houses of straw, sticks, and then bricks. You remember a wolf comes along and blows down the first two hastily constructed houses but cannot budge the house made of brick. Of course there is much wisdom in that story and I wonder if this story may have had its roots from Jesus teaching of houses built on foundations of sand and rock? The thing is Jesus teaching has eternal consequences.

Have you noticed how quickly the meanings of words change with the generations? Years ago, poser meant a puzzling or baffling question, or a person who poses. A more modern definition of poser is one who attempts to appear to others as something they are not. In Jesus day He called them false prophets or false teachers. And he warned that they were like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Satan likes to use posers to lead people away from God, and the scary part is they are all around us!

When I was young, my parents didn’t always give me what I wanted but, they provided what was best for me. At the time I couldn’t see or understand the bigger picture.

In the scope of eternity Jesus has the bigger picture and He understands how our eternal welfare is dependent on our relationship with the creator God. The Bible tells us we have broken that relationship through our disobedience, sin, and guilt.

It is no wonder that Satan capitalizes upon our guilt to keep us at distance with God, but, Jesus has the authority to forgive our sin, and bring us back to God. We’ve all been in situations or faced circumstances that look absolutely impossible from a human perspective whether it’s disappointing events, a past that we can’t do-over, or fears, hurts and habits for which there appears to be no remedy. Jesus said that while some things may look impossible to human beings, with God all things are possible. This month, Gene Appel, the Senior Pastor with the East Side Christian Church in Anaheim, California will be unpacking some ways where Only God can make the difference in our lives?

Each of us at one time or another has experienced disappointments in life, and it’s not unlikely that we will again in the future. The Bible’s book of Psalms is a collection of sacred poems, often containing prayers, gathered by God’s people over 2500 years ago. One of the things the psalms teach us is how to express our raw, unedited disappointments to God.

So here’s Gene to dispense with all the polite, positive God-talk and share with us how God can make a difference when disappointments overwhelm us...

Thomas Campbell, a 19th Century preacher trying to bring unity to the denominations was known for saying; Where the Bible Speaks We Speak, Where the Bible is Silent, We are silent. Sometimes navigating the Silent part while maintaining our alignment with the will of our Savior can be a difficult course indeed. This is true for our walk today and it was true for the early Christian’s in the Church at Rome. The Apostle Paul wrote the book of Romans to try to help that church navigate issues related to disputable matters and bring unity for the sake of the Gospel.

Did you know that a compass does not, on its own, point to True North? A magnetic compass actually points to the earth’s magnetic north, hundreds of miles from true north and readings can vary greatly depending on one’s location. Navigators must regularly re-calibrate their compasses to keep them accurate. Aaron contends that the Apostle Paul, wrote the book to recalibrating our internal compasses back to the spiritual True North. Where True North in spiritual terms is the Gospel message and the voice of Jesus. Romans contents we should follow after Jesus in every area of our lives as Lord and not just see Him as Savior.

Maybe you’ve heard people, who truly mean well, say; God won’t give you more than you can handle. Yet, while that sounds comforting it’s not really true to God’s word More accurately; It’s not that God won’t give you more than you can handle; but that God will help you handle all that you’ve been given.

Throughout the month of February we have been hearing from Mike Breaux as he has been unpacking what he called The Big Three from a series he taught in Indianapolis Indiana. This week, we again get to hear from Mike Breaux, a message taught at East Side Christian Church in Anaheim California.

In this week’s message Mike shares 7 positive things he has learned about having more than you can handle in your life.

If you’ve been to a wedding there is a good chance you have heard 1Corinthians chapter 13 quoted. Many know it as the Love Chapter. At the very end of that chapter, it says; And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. (NIV) This month Mike Breaux has been unpacking for us what he calls The Big Three, from 1 Corinthians 13 in a series he taught at Traders Point Christian Church in Indianapolis Indiana.

When it comes to our spiritual view of this world, we have a tendency to experience limitations in how we view others. We can be nearsighted, farsighted, even astigmatic!? Mike holds that not only did Jesus not have any of these limitations; he saw the world with a 3D kind of love.

In today’s message Mike uses a catastrophic failure on the part of one of Jesus friends he called the rock to demonstrate Jesus’ forgiving love a forgiving love that gives us hope over failure.

Navigating a new year and the month of January can start off hopeful; but then winter, short-days, taxes, life, clouds our hope and we can begin to feel hopeless Jesus wants to give us a hand, He wants to fill us with hope, he wants to be our hope, not just the hope of this world but also our hope for eternity.

Through the month of January, we have been hearing 5 of God’s messages of hope that Bob Russell shared during his 40 year ministry with Southeast Christian Church. Southeast, one of the largest churches in America is located in Louisville, Kentucky.

In the 23rd and 24th chapters of the Bible’s book of Luke, the writer describes three groups of people as they experienced the events following the crucifixion of Jesus. These people witnessed something so extraordinary; it gave them a hope that changed them forever!

In Luke 17 Jesus shared 4 principles of hope with His disciples. These foundational stones hope can keep us hopeful even on the darkest of days. In fact, they can be a ray of hope that we can share with those around us that don’t know the hope we have been given.

So here, is Bob Russell to share with us 4 Principles of Hope

This is Christian’s Hour. Our prayer this Christmas season is that the reminder of the birth of Christ serves to reignite your passion to respond to Christ’s love daily, and that your hope for eternity will be renewed to dominate your heart and mind!

So in the absence of your camera have you ever framed a great picture in your mind or by making a frame with your hands? There is something about framing a view that gives emphasis, it gives priority to the particular shot that stands out to us. Everyone recognizes the look of Christmas. But what everyone needs to recognize is that Christmas should change how we look at everything. This month, Christmas Reframed, is challenging us to take a new look at some of life’s greatest themes through the lens of the birth of Jesus.

A Picture Perfect Christmas may or may not describe how your Christmas plays out this year. In fact, Picture Perfect in this fallen world is asking a lot! This week, Rick Atchley reminds us that the birth we celebrate was under far from Picture Perfect in how it played out. But, the one who has come promises Peace for our hearts in this life and for eternity if we put our trust in Him.

Rick is the lead minister of the Hills Church, with 3 campuses in the Fort Worth, TX area. Most religions picture God as fixed, immobile, and hard to reach. Christmas frames a picture of a God who comes down to our level to demonstrate His love for us, Because Love Gets Close!

Maybe you’ve heard the story about the guy who ran from God only to get thrown overboard and swallowed by a fish. This month, Ben Cachiaras, Lead Minister at Mountain Christian Church, Joppa, Maryland is our speaker with a series entitled Overboard. Overboard is the story about a Prophet of God named Jonah who literally gets thrown overboard, but the story is really more about the God who goes overboard in His radical pursuit of His people, fueled by an unbelievable, steadfast, faithful love.

Unexpected might be a good word to describe today’s message. When Jonah finally decides to carry out God’s mission for him to the city of Nineveh he encounters an unexpected response. Then God has to deal with Jonah’s unexpected reaction to that response. Then for us an unexpected ending to the book.

This month, our speaker, Ben Cachiaras, the lead Minister with the Mountain Christian Church in Joppa Maryland has been speaking from the Bible’s book of Jonah. Jonah was a prophet of God who, when given an assignment to speak to some really evil people decided to run from the assignment and from God. He boarded a ship and then during a particularly bad storm ended up overboard. Just when all seemed lost God miraculously rescued Jonah by having him swallowed up by a big fish. In the midst of his misery Jonah chose to offer a prayer of thanksgiving to the very God he was running from.

The last couple of years enduring the COVID Pandemic have been especially difficult. But, just like Jonah found out, giving thanks can be a way to RESET our hearts and minds, change our outlook, our attitude, and our moods. This week, Ben takes a break from Jonah and shares a secret, within your reach, that can completely change your life!

For many of us we have to sink to the bottom of life before we call on the Lord God to rescue us. The Prophet Jonah literally sank to the bottom before humbling himself before God. At the bottom of the sea Jonah comes to grips with God and God rescues him in a very fishy way. Jonah’s humble prayer from the depths of his rejection of God is the subject of today’s message. And Jonah says it best when he says: salvation comes from the Lord.

This week and throughout the Month of September, we will be hearing a series of messages by Tim Harlow, lead minister at Parkview Christian Church. Parkview is one of 3 campuses ministering to the Chicago, IL area.

If you ask Tim what he considers to be the Greatest Scripture of all Time he would tell you next to John 3:16 it would be the 23rd Psalm. There would be many people, believers and non-believers alike, that would agree with Tim. Psalm 23 is a scripture that brings comfort to so many during difficult times of life. Tim says the essence of the 23 Psalm is that the key to meeting our wants and needs is NOT in pursuing the needs themselves but in pursuing a relationship with God.

Jesus was certainly anything but a go-with-the-flow person. He taught and modeled an against-the-flow lifestyle. His teaching included concepts such as: If you want to be great, SERVE others. If you want to be rich, GIVE more away. If you want to be known for love, LOVE your enemies. But perhaps His most countercultural teaching was: If you want to be truly happy, you have to turn around and move UPSTREAM toward God, the true source of life.

This month Gene Appel, the Senior Pastor with East Side Christian Church with multiple campuses in Southern California, is teaching from Jesus’ famous Sermon on the Mount. The series is called Upstream and today’s message unpacks what Jesus meant by Blessed are the Humble and Hungry.

The series is called Settled in Spirit and today’s message is Battle-Ready.

The temptation of Jesus in the wilderness shows us three kinds of bait Satan uses to tempt us desire, deception and disobedience. We can’t overcome temptation by trying harder. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit working within our changed hearts that we overcome temptation.
