Tienie van Rensburg
In gesprek met Deon Kitching (18) [AFRIKAANS]
Tienie is 'n wyse mens.

Veral my ma is amazing.

Igor Boonzaaier Interviewed by Deon Kitching (11)
[ENGLISH]
One of the flash points that came out of the ANC's conference of December 2017 was land expropriation without compensation.
But there was a drastic turn of events. The plan to amend section 25 of South Africa’s Constitution to allow for land expropriation without compensation has been put on hold due to the ongoing corona virus lockdown on May 22nd, 2020.
Pres Cyril Ramaphosa asked business leaders to play a more proactive role in land expropriation through a donations policy, which will allow for companies to voluntarily give up under-utilized land to communities whose land was taken away. Read more

Interviewed by Deon Kitching
Re-Imagining slave memory. Why now? Many of the crises that we experience in the world today, whether it's about police brutality or racism, have more to do with the past than the present. There is an African proverb that illustrates this point: When the young people do not feel the warmth of the village, they will burn it down.
Talking about slave memory and history creates a good space to talk about identity. This whole process will be helped forward by people who are engaging in open, courageous conversations about their past.

In beide sfere was daar "onkantspel".
Solly Moeng Interviewed by Deon Kitching June 2020
[ENGLISH]
South Africa is a brand, a country brand; and, like all brands, it must have leadership.
All successful brands are led. They have a vision; they have guiding principles – or values – and they have leaders with a plan.
Still, the actions and utterances of the party Mr Ramaphosa leads, and some of the other leaders in it, do not always endorse the beautiful things Ramaphosa himself says. If this doesn't stop, he will lose his credibility – and damage his political brand – at a very rapid pace.

Rev Dr Peter Storey Interviewed by Deon Kitching
[ENGLISH]
The decision to permit public worship observances of whatever faith is both ill-advised and dangerous.
Caring clergy should refuse to co-operate. Too many congregations will serve as multipliers of this ruthless virus and people will return home - perhaps to some rural village - with death as their invisible companion, argues Peter Storey.
Peter Storey is a South African Methodist minister who is a former president of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa (MCSA), and of the South African Council of Churches (SACC), and Ruth W. and A. Morris Williams Distinguished Professor Emeritus of the Practice of Christian Ministry at Duke University Divinity School.
