Zechariah & Elizabeth & John the Baptist & Mary & Joseph & The Innkeeper & Jesus & Shepherds & Wise Men & Herod & Simeon & Anna

Some of these people provide a beautiful picture of honor & submission & faithfulness & obedience. Others paint another picture. One of doubt & selfishness & personal ambition & pride & insecurity.

This Christmas season, listen to the story of the birth of Christ with fresh ears.

Let the &s of Christmas add to your joy

Let the &s of Christmas combine and link together your heart with those around you

Let the &s of Christmas expand your adoration of our Savior

Let the &s of Christmas fill in the gaps that the enemy likes to take advantage of

Let the &s of Christmas bring more Peace & Hope & Faith & let the &s of Christmas tell a more complete story of Jesus’ full & perfect Love for you

Let the &s of Christmas be told through your life as we celebrate the birth of our King Jesus.

They say, ‘home is where the heart is.’ God says, ‘Where your treasure is there your heart will be also.’ So imagine a world where we treasure His House! In the Old Testament, people had to leave their own homes to come to the temple to be close to the presence of God. Now, after the work of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, the very Spirit of God is present within each of His disciples. The Holy Spirit of The Living God lives in His people!

And so because of what Jesus has done for us, The Church has come into the picture...not as a physical location or an address on a map, but as a gathering of people who are committed to the establishing of God’s Spiritual Kingdom here in our communities... here in our neighborhoods...and especially here in our homes.

The Houses of The Lord that we meet in on Sunday mornings are no more holy and no more spiritual than your home. But it IS special because these are the places where the church called Venture Church gathers together to worship together, to celebrate together, to share communion together, and experience the spiritual joining of our hearts and souls and minds when we come together in the name of Jesus.

The things that we experience together in This House are directly related to and, in many ways, are amplified by the things we experience together in our own homes. And vice versa! God desires our homes to be spiritual and holy places in our neighborhoods that reflect His Love for all people and, since we are many and are spread far and wide, to be reflectors of His Light into the darkness.

So when we say we have A Heart For The House, we are saying we treasure the things of our Living God that we experience together in His House. We are saying we treasure the things of our Living God that we experience in our own homes. As men and women, and moms and dads, as sons and daughters, as employees and employers, as followers of Jesus, we are set apart and rooted in The House to shine brightly for the sake of The Kingdom, for the sake of The King – and to point all people to King Jesus, the Author and Perfector of our Faith. As we reflect His own Heart For The House.

‘Together’ has always been the plan. When God made Adam, The Lord quickly made sure that His new creation didn’t walk alone. When Noah was commanded to craft the ark, he was directed to make sure there was enough room for ‘two of every kind’. When Jesus ascended into Heaven, He promised His disciples He would empower them with the comfort and the presence of His Holy Spirit. ‘Together’ has always been the plan.

The phrase ‘One Another’ is used 59 times in the New Testament. Each time painting a picture of a preferred and curated future that we, His Church, have a hand in establishing. But it will take more than just our hands. As we live a One Another life, and as we VentureTOGETHER into God’s preferred future for us, we will be called upon to engage our hearts and our heads and our hands. To give it all for the sake of The Kingdom. To give it all to awaken the hearts of the hopeless, helpless, and the spiritual homeless to the reality of Jesus’ love for them and His perfect plan for their lives. And we will be called upon to do it together. Because we are better together.

To get there, we need to go together.

And to go there, we need to get together.

With One Another. And for One Another. We can VentureTOGETHER.

Why ‘The Red Letters’?

Before there was anything else, there was the Word of God. The Word was

with God. And the Word was God. The Apostle John refers to Jesus as The

Word of God. And, as God, when Jesus speaks, God speaks.

And the words of Jesus are weighty. As His followers, we are called to bend

and fit and shape and adjust our lives to look more like the world He paints

with His words than the world we are left to live in. We are called to be

different. Set apart. Holy. Righteous. Redeemed. And we are called to be

a part of His cosmic plan that He has set into motion to restore humanity to

Himself.

Jesus has been speaking since before the beginning of time. So now, in this

moment of time, we lean in to listen … to hear … to read … to respond …

and to be forever changed. By The Red Letters.
