Movies for Breakfast
Movies for Breakfast is a candid discussion about all things current in the film world. Hosted by three friends nestled in different parts of the country, Anna Bryant, James Coreas and Trent Johnson pull up chairs to the breakfast table and hash out all their thoughts over coffee, grits and whatever other morning food you can conjure up in a tiny kitchen. Whether the discussions are smart or not is up for debate, but all hangups and praise comes from a passion for cinema.
Today we take a look at two stories based around the premise of super powered beings gone wrong (sort of). To help say goodbye to Fox's X-Men Series we brought on friend of the podcast Leopold Knopp (https://reelentropy.com/), who's long had an affinity for the mutant movies. He also stuck around and helped us talk about James Gunn's evil Superman horror flick, which could be opening up a cinematic universe of its own.

What? Double-release? That's right, we're dropping our second episode of the day while catching up on the numerous releases from December. In this episode we talked about award darling Vice and the breathtaking animated spectacle Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. But before we get into those, we talk about our top films from 2018.

Over the past few weeks, we discovered a dry spell for movies we could review. So instead of dragging ourselves to the theater to see films we were less than excited for, we decided to revisit some films we didn't cover on the podcast. Luckily for us, two of the biggest hits this summer were on that list, so this week, we decided to finally dig into Avengers: Infinity War and Mission Impossible: Fallout.
Check us out, we're uploading in a timely manner! This week we tackle two very different movies that represent more than their plot points. First, we discuss Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, a film about police officer Ron Stallworth, who goes undercover to topple a chapter of the KKK in Colorado Springs during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1970s. After, we discuss the wildly successful, and cheery, Crazy Rich Asians, which takes a pretty standard romantic comedy story with an almost entire Asian cast, offering a film Hollywood was long overdue for.
Yikes, with a busy schedule that makes editing tough and the general gamble of sending our audio files back in forth, this episode proved tough to produce. Even though it doesn't have the normal news, the MFB crew still came through with a solid movie review of Eighth Grade. Thanks for listening!

Wow, it's almost like the crew has been into intermittent fasting lately, because it feels like forever since we took a seat at the breakfast table and discussed some movies. Due to lost audio with our detailed review of the unstoppable machine that is Marvel's Infinity War, are return was delayed a week, and instead of regurgitating our thoughts on the billion dollar flick, we discussed movies lost in Thanos' large Titan shadow, in You Were Never Really Here and Tully. Both are small in scale, and both deal with traumatic subject matter. Enjoy!
Due to some unforeseen scheduling errors, the Movies For Breakfast podcast had to take an hiatus this week, however we know your movie metabolism won't stop kicking so James has you covered with a little snack. Instead of a discussion, James quickly runs through some of the news that caught his attention with a quick, short, poignant run down of what would surely make an old-timey newsreel.
Wow, you could not pick two more diametrically opposed movies to review in one podcast episode, but hey, we did! First we chatted about the slapstick comedy only critics seem to enjoy and highlight a certain actor-wrestler-buff guy who stole a ton of scenes. After discussing parenting in a sitcom, we discuss the decision making and themes of A Quiet Place. In a special edition of the pod, James and Trent talk about the hype surrounding the latest "Avengers: Infinity War" trailer. After the weekend, the latest promotion for the upcoming movie still had the two geeking out, so they decided to share their thoughts on the most exciting and surprising moments shown. After a tough few weeks with multiple technical difficulties and vacations, Anna, Trent and James are finally back at the breakfast table! Despite a slightly disjointed schedule, the three gathered to talk about Game Night and Annihilation (20:20). Before that, instead of the usual trailer talk, James and Trent chatted about some hot topics in movies, including Black Panther's Chinese debut, Snoke's backstory in Star Wars and Fred Durst (WTF).
