Connor McLaren is a psych-folk artist from Bloomington, Indiana. Referred to as the "American Liam Gallagher but friendlier", he builds his musical home on a faded denim foundation - think Bob Dylan or The Who. His walls can tell a thousand stories - think Todd Snider or Lou Reed - and though it’s only apparent in some of the rooms, there’s a distinct love for Reggae, thanks to his yearly pilgrimage to Jamaica. As you look upon the mostly vintage decor, you’ll notice the occasional shiny item - think Mike Posner or Billie Eilish. Everything comes together like cutting edge comfort food for the ears. If you could live inside of a sound, you’d probably move here and stay awhile... Welcome to the home of Connor McLaren. While attending Appalachian State University, Connor discovered a key building tool for his music; Cannabis. As his mind expanded, so did his desire to hit the road. Without a team or music biz knowledge, he and his brother Alec, began setting up outside of their favorite bands’ concerts. They’d play on the street amidst droves of music fans exiting venues, accepting generous donations to their “Weed Fund” tip box. These DIY antics got the attention of indie-icon Ben Kweller who invited the brothers to Texas to write and record. In the spring of 2022, Connor signed with The Noise Company to release his forthcoming debut album, Innocence.

A conversation with Reed Grimm. We discuss Reed's story, how he began his journey in music, meditation, American Idol and more.
ABOUT REED (ON STAGE) Reed started his musical journey in a way that very few people do. His parents, Steve Grimm and Colleen Raye, were the male and female lead singers of a traveling variety act that entertained people in resorts, casinos, state fairs, and lounges from coast to coast. As the couple had children, they added them to the show…and at the age of 2, Reed took the stage. His primary instrument continued to be the voice until his 12th birthday where he received his first drum set. Everyday after school his garage became his arena. Headphones on he played along with music he had heard throughout his life, gaining him the skills to join the middle school jazz band where he started playing with others for the first time. This sparked a love of jazz music that would land him as one of two drummers to play in the Wisconsin State Honors Jazz Band his senior year of high school. After high school he chose to attend college at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he was recruited to play in the top jazz band while persuing a degree in Percussion Performance. While in La Crosse he was scouted by regionally known horn band “Three Beers til’ Dubuque” to be their lead singer, giving him his first sense of professional performance outside of his family’s band. He went on to cofound other groups, most notably the band in which he started writing original music, Shoeless Revolution. Not only did Shoeless bring a first in writing music for Reed, it was also where he began lead singing from the drum set. Shoeless Revolution went on to release two original albums “Speak Up” and “From the Inside Out” touring until 2011 when an unsuspecting call from his older sister Jennifer changed the course of his life. On the phone she told him that she won a singing contest to get her to the front of the line for an American Idol audition, but she had missed the age requirements for the show. She was able to transfer the ticket to one person and chose Reed. After graciously accepting, he went to an audition which got him onto the show and propelled him to Live Television where he ended #14 on season 11 in 2012. The aftermath of his American Idol experience brought Reed many opportunities to travel and perform for concertgoers around the world including multiple trips overseas to entertain members of the US Military. His desire to continue to write music grew, and with the help of a successful Kickstarter he released his debut solo album “Reminders” in April of 2018.

THE SUGARSHACK SESSIONS...
was started as a digital music series that featured unique and intimate acoustic sessions filmed/recorded in a backyard in Bonita Springs, FL in 2014. The idea: to do something we loved with people we cared about to create something positive for others. In those days, we filmed local bands to provide them high quality video & audio content to promote themselves. We did it for free while we continued to work our day jobs. The seed was planted, and we tended to it. And it sprouted...
In April 2017, Sugarshack Inc. was founded as a startup venture with the vision to build a multimedia company offering creative services under the brand name Sugarshack, while continuing to grow the digital music channel. After two years of working full time jobs and working full time to keep our dream project going, we made the leap. We quit our other jobs and went for it.
Sugarshack Incorporated (we just call it “Sugarshack”) grew into a digital media production company & creative studio. Today, we provide full creative & production services, including conceptual development, video & audio production, photography, & graphic design. In today’s digital age, everyone needs content to market their brands & businesses. We are the company that helps people tell their stories.
The Sugarshack Sessions is now one of several programs featured on the Sugarshack Music Channel. The channel has grown from a backyard hobby into a full-time business that includes an online community of more than 232K+ subscribers and 100M lifetime views who tune in to watch our acoustic sessions, live music videos, documentaries, and interviews that feature local, emerging, and national bands. The Sugarshack Music Channel continues to stream for free via YouTube.
Additionally, in 2019 we launched Sugarshack Records. Our independent record label distributes acoustic session and live in concert recordings via the digital marketplace and all streaming platforms.

Ross started in the live production industry at 18. He's traveled to almost every state before he could buy alcohol doing lighting and lasers at gatherings like Burning Man, Ultra Music Festival, Art Basel, and more. During the pandemic he's been working more on architectural and lighting designs for companies is Mexico City and Atlanta Georgia. Music has always been the base of everything for Ross. The self-proclaimed genre, “Spirit Jam”, has come due to the surplus of styles coming together from Medicine music to Jazz, from Pop to Reggae, from Ambience to Psychedelic Rock. With all of these influences, Galen ( ITO ) brings a message and a prayer to reintroduce a seemingly lost idea of living through love and harmony with this Earth and humanity. This starts with restoring that harmony inside of ourselves.

Justin is a Spiritual Coach and Meditation Teacher who serves those firmly committed to their inner journey by holding space for Shadow Work and guiding the development of Mindfulness Practices. He has been trained extensively in the practices, philosophy and lifestyle of the Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga traditions in India through multiple ashram immersions and by following his own teacher, Seane Corn.
These experiences total over 2,000 hours of volunteering in yoga ashrams, 1,000 certified hours of Yogic study and over a decade of self study on relevant topics. He illuminates the integrated potential of Yogic Psychology, Meditation and Shadow Work by co-creating spiritual space in one-on-one interactions.

I met Mitchell this year when I moved back to Indiana for a few months. Little did I know I was entering a friendship with someone with such an inspiring story to tell. I've lost many friends to addiction over the years and to be honest I was partly convinced there wasn't much of a chance of escaping it's clutches.
Mitchell tells a story of coming out of grip of addiction and into a new life with purpose. He talks of how digging deep into his past trauma and nurturing himself helped to pull him out of the spell. I believe more stories like this need to have light shed on them. It was a pleasure to have him in the RV studio to tell his story.

“Every single second is a blessing if you count them all,” sings frontman Matthew Roads. Born in Mexico and traveling to America, Mario found sound healing in the midst of his son's seizure disorder. He was able to cure his son's illness and now dedicates his life to mastering the craft of sound healing and being of service to others in the world.

As a well-experienced producer and performer, Dan Giffin has taught Grammy-winning artists the ins and outs of making music with Live and Push. He currently produces under the artist name Philia, teaches Ableton Live through his website LiveProducersOnline.com and hosts the Ableton Music Producer Podcast.
Dan started training at a young age as a jazz drummer, which later translated into performing live drums to remixes of electronic music.
In 2018 Dan founded the Ableton Live training website LiveProducersOnline.com, helping artists reach their goals in the studio and on stage. To date, Dan has taught Ableton Live workshops at SAE Institute, Sweetwater, and dozens of recording studios and churches across the USA. He specializes in subjects like setting up a live performance, creative mixing with Live devices, music production workflows and beat making.
Dan teaches private lessons as well as classes at multiple recording studios in Indianapolis, IN, where he has collaborated with major label artists including Mac Miller, Machine Gun Kelly, The Band Perry and others.
In 2018 Dan started Philia, a jazz-infused bass music project blending heavy hitting drums, keys, saxophone and improvised DJing. The group has shared the stage with artists including Tiesto, Slushii and Manic Focus, and performed at major festivals including Electric Forest in Rothbury, MI.

Brief Bio
Throughout his persistently unconventional career spanning more than 30 years as an entertainment entrepreneur, beginning with roots in environmental and social justice advocacy, satirical musical theater, comedy, filmmaking, and live political talk radio, Paul Bassis has consistently and uniquely found ways to bridge entertainment and activism in each of his entrepreneurial and creative endeavors. By the early 1990’s he had firmly established his reputation in the live music industry as a producer of one of the era’s premier summer music festivals, the internationally celebrated Reggae on the River. For over two decades, the annual Northern California gathering was universally considered “the best reggae music festival in the world,” achieving unparalleled popularity in the reggae and world music genres, annually selling out well in advance. After many years as a music festival producer, concert promoter, tour producer and artist manager, Bassis took a leap of faith when he left the music business altogether to create a boutique management company and speaker agency for high profile environmental activists. When describing the work he did during those years as “facilitating the radicalizing of celebrities and the celebritizing of radicals,” Bassis freely admits that he made up the word “celebritizing” but claims there was not a better one in the English language to accurately characterize the work he was doing of “helping important voices be heard.” In 2013 Bassis took another leap of faith when he Co-Founded the ARISE Music Festival at the beautiful Sunrise Ranch in Loveland, Colorado with business partner and music industry veteran, Tierro Lee. By design, ARISE was intended to be a hybrid--a cross between a traditional music festival and a co-creative festival--and provided Bassis with yet another opportunity to be part of something that brings people together in meaningful, life-affirming ways. Over a seven-year period of time ARISE grew steadily to become the most popular camping and music festival in the state of Colorado. In the fall of 2019 Bassis and Lee negotiated a settlement agreement to part ways with the festival they founded, joined forces with Sunrise Ranch, and plan to launch a brand-new festival there in the summer of 2021. In February 2020, under the umbrella of Bassis and Lee’s new production company, Instigate Entertainment, along with two other independent festival producing partners, launched the first ever Thrive Fest Hawaii, a 3-day music festival at the magical Kalani Oceanside Retreat Center on the Big Island of Hawaii. While currently on forced hiatus from working in the live music industry due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Bassis is authoring the upcoming “revival guide handbook” titled, Seven Steps to a Guilt-Free Diet. Paul Bassis is pretty certain that he has legitimately cheated death at least three separate times in his life and now reminds himself on a daily basis that this life we are living is not a dress rehearsal.
