Mrs. Gray, a 6th grade teacher, discusses Writer's Workshop and Units of Study in Writing. This has been the focus on study for teachers this year. Mrs. Gray has been leading the Woodbury Staff and training them in learning to become better at teaching writing.
Global School Play Day is coming on Wednesday, February 5th, 2020!
Global School Play Day is a day dedicated to unstructured play for kids.
In his TEDx lecture, Peter Gray clearly argues the case that today's kids do not grow up playing and this has negatively impacted them in many ways. It's time we return the gift of play to this generation.

Outdoor Science School is one of the most special parts of a student's time at Woodbury. Listen to the 6th Grade Teachers walk you through what Outdoor Science School has to offer!
Our principal Alan Battenfield gives an overview of the Calm Classroom curriculum which Woodbury has implemented this year. This program encourages social and emotional well-being for all students.
Mr. Gray interviews Stephanie Mate from the Katie Wheeler public library about all the incredible resources our local public library has to offer. Did you know the the Katie Wheeler Public Library has family storytime, after school and summer programs for kids, a bookstore with cheap books, and access to the New York Times for free? They have that and SO MUCH MORE!

Dear Parents,
Think back to when you first moved to Woodbury. Your feelings were probably some mixture of being excited, scared and overwhelmed. What grocery store to go to, what doctor to choose, how do I register my kids for school? Some of you have even done all of this while also learning English! It was probably the kindness of strangers--soon-to-be friends--striking up conversations with you that made life at Woodbury feel like home.
This November, Woodbury’s Parent Outreach is offering an amazing program called Each One Teach One whose goal is to connect parents with conversation partners. In other words, the program wishes to link up fellow Woodbury parents with one another--getting a mixture of both fluent English speakers and new to English speakers.
Grabbing some coffee, having a lunch date, or taking the kids to the park--these are just a few ways conversations in English connect us.
- We are looking for parents who are fluent in English and want to make connections with fellow Woodbury parents through friendly conversations.
- We are also looking for parents who are learning English and want to make connections with fellow Woodbury parents through friendly conversations.
- We are also looking for parents who are new to English and want to make connections with fellow Woodbury parents through friendly conversations.
