Using the Bridge:
What might be some other “bridges” besides the Lord’s Supper for connecting us to what God wants us to remember?
What do you think are some ways we can most effectively use the bridges? (especially the Lord’s Supper)
I. God says, “I will remember…”
Genesis 9:11-17, Leviticus 26:40-45, Jeremiah 31;31-34
Remembering for God is...
1. Call to Mind (God has total access, we may have to recall)
2. Bring to the Present
3. Act in Accordance to that Memory you are remembering
Remembering not is...Not doing 1 through 3 above
II. God is asked to remember…
Exodus 32:11-14, Judges 16:28-30, I Samuel 1:11-20, Psalm 25:4-7, Psalm 79:8-9, Psalm 119:49,
II Chronicles 6:42, and II Kings 20:1-5
III. God’s Remembering Matters to us:
God interacts with us based on remembering/memory
We can talk to God about His remembering
Remembering is important for relationship with God and with others
I. Why discuss memories?
Because…
1. God is the God of remembrance
2. Memories are key to who we are, what we do, what we become
3. God calls us to remember at times and sometimes He calls us to not forget
4. We need the Spirit’s work in our memories for continual transformation
II. What does God want us to remember?
1. Remember _________________ (memories from Scripture)
2. The unique personal confirmations of His presence
3. The shared story
III. What are some tools for gaining the most from God in our memories?
1. Open the memory with God
2. Evaluate the memory with God
3. Work all the way through the memory with God
