Food Plots have been the rage for deer hunting for quite some time now. But there is a lot more to it than just casting seed on the ground and hoping a trophy buck will show up. Today, we have one of the best food plot designers, around. Heath Rayfield has been developing and maintaining food plots for decades and knows a thing or two about how to create a plot to fit your specific needs.
Whether it is a small plot in the woods, a large field, or something in between. Seed bed preparation, seed selection, and the Anabolic seed coat can the the winning combination to having the perfect plot.

Have you ever played the comparison game? Thought that you weren't enough? Here is some good news. God doesn't do that. He isn't impressed with how much you have but rather just wants you to be faithful with what you have been given!

Born and raised in southeastern Wisconsin, Chad Stillman was introduced to sports and the outdoors at a young age. Growing up, if you couldn't find him on the soccer or football field, chances are he was in the woods or on the water. Those two passions would lead to a stint as a semi-pro kicker for the Racine Raiders and a cameraman for Bowhunting.com. By 22 years old, he was fresh out a college, a homeowner and embarking on his lifelong dream of working in law enforcement. Quickly moving up in the ranks, he received a promotion to the SWAT Team and ultimately settled in as an FBI Task Force Investigator. To warn our audience, this isn't an easy conversation to listen to as Chad takes us on the emotional journey of his story. Struggling at times to share it here, he details the events of January 17, 2018, a day that changed his life and the lives of others forever. 7 years later and battling with PTSD from the events of that evening, he gives credit to time in the outdoors, the support of friends and family, but most notably his faith, for sustaining him when the pressures of life are too much.

The day he left for basic training, Aaron Ritter renounced Jesus and all religion. Living a life of selfishness, and as he puts in "the life of a rock star" (whatever that is). Years in the Navy, as a firefighter, living on the edge daily. Several failed marriages and then a horrific motorcycle accident that ripped part of his right leg off.
A faithful father and mother who never stopped praying for their son. A passion for the outdoors, and finally a life surrendered to Jesus.
Limb-itless Outdoors is a program for amputees to find hope and fulfillment through the outdoors and archery. Aaron shares his journey into a life of hope and a desire to help others find it also.

Listeners know there is nothing more I enjoy more than turkey hunting. The allure of the spring woods being awakened to the thurnderous gobble of a mature turkey stirs my soul like nothing else. It is refreshing when I get the chance to talk with kindred spirits.
Today, Jon Goodwin joins me again on a conversation with Travis Sumner. Travis has "been there and done that" in the world of hunting turkeys. From years spent with NWTF, to conservation groups, and mentoring new hunters. Decades as a member of the Mossy Oak pro-staff and more. Talking about turkeys, managing turkeys, managing habitat for turkeys and living a life loving people and his Lord Jesus Christ. Travis is the real deal. I am sure you will enjoy this conversation as much as we did.

Kayak Fishing is picking up popularity all across the country with more and more anglers preferrig human powered boats rather than the giant gasoline engines. Kayak fishing poses it's own set of skills and challenges which is what draws many anglers to this activity. As such more and more tournaments have begun with kayak anglers. Bass fishign tournaments, redfishing tournaments and more are gaining popularity.
Chase Carlock of Southwest Indiana Outdoors joins us today to discuss all things Kayak fishing and how he got started and where he is now in the world of Kayak fishing bass tournaments.
Chase also shares with us his journey with his faith. Being reared in church, moving away and finding himself returning to his roots. I guess the scripture is true that if you raise your children up in the Lord they will nto depart from it (paraphrase)

This week Jon asks a simple question; what do you need to say yes too?
Saying yes can be terifying especially when we feel unqualified. The Scriptures are littered with men and women who were not qualified but still were called into the service of our Savior. How can this be possible? The simple answer is this: our Savior is qualified!
This week devotion shares the following Scriptures:
Exodus 3.11; 3.13; 4.1; 4.10; 4.13
Isaiah 56.8-9
Ephesians 3.20

When you do not have a mentor in the outdoors what are your options? At the age of 30 Johnny Mack made the decision he wanted to start hunting. He signed up for his hunter education course in Washington state and took to it like a fish out of water. No one to guide him, he plowed into YouTube videos, and poicking peoples brains to find out all he could about hunting. 4 years, later he took his first big game animal. A black bear in the backcountry of Washington. His story of that day, hunt and more is what led him to begin Soul Seekers Podcast where he shares his knowledge of hunting and beginners with the workd through his platform.
More than 300 episodes later, Johnney, now a Texan, uses mentorship to teach conservation and the good that comes from hunting. His passion for hunting, and passing on the legacy of hunting is central to his mission with Soul Seekers. I am sure you will find this show to be entertaining and enlightening.

This past Sunday Christians all around the world celebrated the resurrection! Celebration was happening because we know the entirety of the story. But what about those early Christ followers who were struggling because they had seen their Savior get crucified. The emotions were high.
Today, Jon takes a look at one of those followers. A follower who struggled and rejoiced. Who wept uncontrollably and then hugged Jesus uncontrollably as well. Jon discusses some lessons we can learn from the life of Mary Magdalene in the resurrection about found in John 20.
Hope you all had a blessed Easter. Praise be to God! He is risen!
Is fitness a priority for you? Do you enjoy working out with a purpose? In this episode of Devotions with Christian Outdoors Jon takes a brief look at some of the details surrounding the Triumphal Entry during Holy Week.
Jesus reveals His heart for the spiritually blind.
Jesus reveals His heart for the nations.
Jesus reveals His heart for the marginalized.
Matthew 21.1-17; Luke 19.41-44; John 3.17
Seven days that changed the world. From a triumphal entry into Jerusalem, to a hill called Golgatha, to an empty tomb. It all happened in seven days.
The sacrifice of Christ cannot be overstated. God became man and took on the sin of the whole world, so that YOU would not have to carry the burden of sin. For six hours he hung on the cross to take away the sins of the entire world...for YOU. His death is our hope in eternal life with him. his resurrection is proof that our souls live forever. We can choose to live forever in the presence of God, or forever separated from God.
Join Jon and me as we celebrate Holy week.
As we are quickly approaching Holy Week, Jon discusses some of the details that happened shortly before the Triumphal Entry (Palm Sunday).
This week he shares four truths all coming from John 11 and John 12. If you are hoping to get the most out of this devotion it is encouraged that give John 11 and 12 a read. Additional Scriptures to read: Joshua 4.6-7; Joshua 4.19-24; Luke 10.38-42; 1 Peter 2.4-5.
Truth #1 - God's Timing is Perfect.
Truth #2 - Devotion looks different with different people.
Truth #3 - Holy words are often driven by selfish purposes.
Truth #4 - Changed lives are monuments that declare God's work.
Walking the halls of the turkey show a few weeks ago, I was flagged down by today's guest. He was working the booth of Backwoods Mafia, an appareal company that has solidified their space in the outdoor market. Our conversation quickly moved to his other company American Threads, where he customizes appareal inhouse for clients.
But what really stood out about Landon was his drive as an entreprenuer and his passion for Christ. We instantly began sharing our faith stories there in the halls of the Gaylord Convention Center and today is no different. Landon has a great story of his faith driven companies and his faith driven life.

This week Jon discusses four lessons from a lady known as Rahab the Harlot. While Rahab does share the same middle name as John the Baptist, her last name is not exactly something to be proud of. However, there are least four lessons we can learn from her life and apply to our own lives.
Scripture: Hebrews 11.1-2; Joshua 2, Romans 8.28; Luke 23.39-43; Matthew 1.5; Isaiah 64.8
Lesson #1 - Don't be ashamed of where you have been rescued from.
Lesson #2 - Your past does not determine your future.
Lesson #3 - It is never too late.
Lesson #4 - God is not done writing your story.
God desires to shape your lives into something beautiful my friends!!!
As always, if you wish to further dialogue about this, please feel free to reach out to Jon at jon@christianoutdoors.org.

Scripture: Ephesians 5.1-2, John 6.35, Exodus 16, Matthew 6.11

We have a great show where we share these passions.
This weeks devotion focuses on helping you see yourself as your Heavenly Father sees you! You are loved my friends! Don't ever forget it!

How important is clean drinking water? For most of America we take it for granted that when we turn the water tap on, we will have safe clean drinking water. This is not the case for most of the world.
After a chance encounter with a pastor from Kenya, Elliott Stoval felt called to do something about the difficulty for people in Kenya and other parts of the world to get and have clean safe drinking water. Elliott began "The Filter Project" to provide free water filters to people in these areas and to use this avenue to bring them the gospel of Christ in the process.
The Filter Project is designed to provide water filters to people at no cost to them. Relying strictly on donations to purchase and ship the filters to all parts of the world.
You can help by going to their website and donating a filter to support this mission.

Much of North America was settled by trappers who explored and pioneered this great country. In many areas it is a forgotten or lost art. In others it is frowned upon by those who do not understand the importance of managing wildlife. Trapping is considered by most biologists, and wildlife managers as the best and most effective manner of removing excess populations of predators from the landscape.
Today on Christian Outdoors, we interview a professional trapper from my home state of South Carolina. Bill Smith is owner and operator of Coastal Land and Wildlife Services in the low country of South Carolina and his profession is exactly what we described. Removing excess predators from the landscape. We discuss how he does this, with some trade secrets and some unique techniques he uses to catch coyotes and bobcats. We also discuss his transformation into a follower of Jesus.

On today's show I am joined by my friend jon Goodwin of Gasport, NY and we are having our deer season wrap-up show. While we each have a week left, we wanted to go ahead and get this show done and share with the audience our experiences out of state and in state this seasonb. Both of us have had a good year in regards to successful hunts. But not without some nail-biting moments and mistakes along the way.
Tune in for a good show as we share our stories of the 2024 deer season.
Duck Commander is in its 50th year as a company, and yet for most of that time, it was a cottage industry. Building duck calls in the family home. All of that changed in the early 2000's when the brand of duck calls started getting the recognition it deserved. Designed by Phil Robertson in the early 1970's the now famous duck calls have led to the demise of tens of thousands of ducks.
But there is far more to the story than mere duck calls. Phil Robertson's conversion has been well documented, and today's show is not about Phil, but about his son Willie. Willie took his business degree and helped propel Duck Commander into a global phenomenon and made them the most sold, most watched and most admired company in the outdoor space.
Willie's humility about how the company grew under his leadership is apparent in this conversation. From expanding sponsorships to TV deals, and the now infamous Duck Dynasty shows. Willie is the epitome of an entrepreneur and as such the family has a platform to focus on what is most important and that is in sharing their faith with tens of millions of folks all across the world.
I am humbled that Willie took time out of his hectic schedule to sit down with me as we discuss all things, ducks, bucks and Jesus.

Why are we prideful? Why do men think its week to be humble? Today we discuss the pitfall of being prideful and how God's word warns us about being prideful. Today we learn fromMproverbs, 16:18 "pride comes before destruction..."
so many men have a hard time forgiving themselves for past mistakes. but hear me here...
"you are not defined by your worst decision." Proverbs tell us that we are his and that humility comes before honor. We are to humble ourselves before God and one another if we are to enter into a whole relationship with our God.
"The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps."
In the world of the Whitetail deer, few people are more respected, or admired than Dr. Grant Woods. And for 15 years, they have never missed a week and have never repeated a show! The commitment to a high performance and quality information is second to none.
Dr. Woods haas forgotten mroe about the whitetail deer than most people will ever know. In addition to this, he is a dedicated follower of Jesus and shares his faith openly and in a way that is inviting and encouraging to all who listen. Sitting in my deer stand in SE Kansas got me reflecting on how great God is and how so many of us feel alone adn isolated at times. In reading my bible, I read again Psalm 100 and those words reminded me that we are never alone, but that we are His. Regardless of what you are going through, remember you are HIS and his love is greater than anything that can come against you.
In my world as an outdoor writer I have the ability to preview a lot of new products, and to see some of the new innovations that are on the horizon. I am constantly amazed at how people create ways to make a hole. The Archery Trade Association annual show is one place where you will witness dozens of new broadhead designs every year.
It seems that there is always someone who thinks they can create a better broadhead. One that flies better, cutted better, and tunes easier. I've seen broadheads that were diminituve in size barely bigger than the arrow itself, and some that looked like a hubcap flying through the air. And every one of these folks believed theirs was the best ever designed.
Today, we have on the show the founders of a new broadhead company, TouLou broadheads has designed a single bevel broadhead with a twist...literally, and the design allows the arrow to fly straight and flatter due to the tip driving the rotation of the arrow verses the feathers.
More than this, Trevor and Jake share their stories of faith and personal transformation that is surre to inspire you.

How can we know God's will for our lives? Is this even possible?
Today, I dive into this and give you some things I feel will help you to discover God's will for your life. It begins with a relationship with Him. Then diving into his word and reading it for yourself. Listening to Him, seeking council from Godly folks and praying for guidance.
How does one go from an English teacher to winner of Forged in Fire season 7? How do you take blacksmithing, and bladesmithing and make it into a ministry? Today, Billy Salyers joins us and we discuss all of this and how he has been able to transform lives one blade at a time. From North Carolina to Montana to Guatamala, Yelloerose Forge adn Redeemed Steel have made a difference in the lives of many.

What is the greatest threat to deer hunting in America? Is it dropping participation? Could it be lack of accessible land? Perhaps it is the anti-gun movement or the anti-hunting factions? Division among hunters themselves?
All of this is discussed in this show before we reveal what Steve Shea and I feel is THE greatest threat to deer hunting today. The answer may surprise you, or you may already suspect the answer to the question. Either way, this show is enlightening and informative. Along the way, Steve shares his faith and why it is important to him and his family.

Stress, anxiety and worry are becoming an epidemic in America. More and more pople are taking antianxiety medication than ever before. We are consumed with stress. How can we overcome stress, anxiety and worry? What can we do as Christians to combat the attacks on us?
Today we dive into this subject and provide some insight into what God's word says about this topic.
Traditional Archery is seeing a resurgence in recent years, and Robert Carter of Georgia has found his place among some of the best instructors of the sport. His YouTube channel on traditional archery is one of the finest available. His no nonsense style, and easy to follow instruction has found a great audience, including myself.
Hunting with a longbow or recurve requires a lot of patience, strategy and execution. Carter explains how proper shooting techniques along with confidence will put deer and hogs in your freezer.
Robert also shares how God "saved me in a cow pasture" from a life of drugs, alcohol and more. his testimony and story will resonate with a lot of listeners and benefit all of us with his humility.
To be obedient to God's word can be a challenge for many of us at different times in our lives. Today we discuss the importance of obedience and why as a follower of Christ it is imperative that we try to be obedient to his calling on our lives.
My guest today Tommy Ausherman the founder of Outrider USA a company designed to help people with mobility issues explore the outdoors. Witha. vision from God, Tommy set out to design a machine that would help folks with mobility issues to be able to explore the outdoors and his 4 wheel drive electric machine does just that and more. Adaptable, adjustable and in every way designed for anyone with mobility issues his company is pushing the envelope in helping folks access the great outdoors.
Tommy is driven by his passion for Christ and his ability to help and serve those who struggle with mobility. Find out more at https://outridercoyote.com
In a world of brokeness, being whole is hard. In many cases it may even seem impossible. But today we share how to become whole through a life of holiness.
being holy isn't reserved for saints, our pursuit for holiness should be at the forefront of our life as Christians. The pursuit alone is worthy, the efforts, the desire to be more like Christ leads us to a holy life.
Holy does not mean being perfect, it is wrapped up in the pursuit and effort to become holy. We are not made to pursue happiness, rather we are made to pursue holiness. When we do this, we become whole.
Making a decision to chase your dreams can be hard for many. Austin Williams made the decision to chase his in Country Music. After only one yar of chasing in Nashville, he was signed to development deal and is moving fast through the ranks.
In talking with Austin, he has no formal training in singing or song writing, it "just comes to me" he says. Understanding his talent and using it for a platform to share his faith is important to Austin. He is open about his faith, and his love of music and the sound of hounds in the night sky.
In a world where discussing politics and faith is often frowned upon, witnessing is difficult for many of us. But the bible teaches that we are called to share our faith with everyone. Today we share how to witness where you are in soft, subtle ways that shares the love of Christ with the gifts and talents you have.
When most people think of eating mushrooms, two images come to mind. One is the kind we put on our salads, and the other are the psychedelic type. Well, today I learned a lot about edible mushrooms, how to find them, identify them and the food and health benefits from them. In today’s show, we talk with Tim Frost an assistant Pastor from Indiana and he educates us on the different varieties and benefits of edible mushrooms.
Tim not only shares his passion for fungi, but also his passion for Christ. This is an interesting topic and interview.
When it comes to service for Christians, it can often be paralyzing becasue we do not know what to do or how to do it. We often overthink this part of our faith. Today, we discuss how to put your faith into action and to do it where you are.
What does it mean to be a responsible steward? How can we make a difference in the world in which we live? Today’s guest, Benny Braden was hiking near his home in eastern Tennessee and he began to notice trash along the trails, and he began picking the trash up. In some places the trash was immense. Left over tents, beer cans, food packaging, and more were littered everywhere.
Taking it upon himself, he began a campaign of cleaning up our public lands. And “Responsible Stewardship” was founded. A non-profit organization that works to keep our public lands clean and trash free.
Benny, is also a PTSD survivor and a follower of Christ. In this show we discuss his hikes across the globe and how Responsible Stewardship came into being as well has his personal faith journey.
How much money do you make? How much do you weigh? What did you pay for your car? Do you tithe?
Many of us find these questions offensive and in some ways they are. Except for the last one...the rest are non of my business, and are on some level offensive. But God doesnt ask any of te others, but he does as for our Tithe. 10% of your gross income.
Why are we so quick to give out 20% of the cost of a meal to a server but reluctant to give God 10% of our income? This and other things we discuss today as we loo into what God expects of us.
Remember God can do more with 90% than you can with 100%....
What moves you? What is it in your life that moves your soul and compels you to do something and work to make a difference? For Sue Tidwell it was when she accompanied her husband on a safari to Tanzania. As a non-hunter herself, she saw the passion of her husband and as she says in her book, "when you love someone, their dream becomes your dream."
Together they flew to Tanzania so Rick could pursue his dream of hunting Africa. What happened on this trip changed Sue profoundly. She saw firsthand how hunting has transformed the lives of the people of Tanzania and beyond. How hunting saves species, how controlled hunting conserves the landscape, how hunting provides jobs, food and income for hundreds and thousands of people living in Africa. She saw first hand how sustained hunting of these beautiful animals has helped the people of these countries and animals around the world.
In her book Cries of the Savanna, Sue captuers the thrill of the hunt and the essence of the people who make it all happen. From the tents to the bush to the relationships she has built with the people she encounters, Sue takes the reader along with her as she struggles to make sense of it all and writes convincenly and beautifully.
Cries of the Savanna is one of the best books ever penned on hunting Africa and should rank as the highest apologetic work on hunting in the last 50 years. She is a gifted writer and this book is a must read for anyone who wants to hunt Africa. For anyone who questions the ethics of hunting, and for anyone studying conservation around the globe.

Why is it so difficult to forgive others when they have wronged us? Why do we carry grudges? What makes it so hard? And yet Jesus tells us to forgive 77 times those who wrong us. Why is it hard to forgive ourselves? Personally I find it harder for me to forgive myself than it is to forgive others.
Today we talk about why forgiveness is so important and how it can free you of your pain and heartache.
How do you live an abundany life? This is the mission of my guest today. Ms. Bethany Bethard is a military wife and mother of 5 that she home schools at her home in Oklahoma. She is an outdoors woman, outdoor writer and social media influencer who is helping women to live their lives abundantly.

We are all familure with the military term "About Face" to turn around, to change your direction and alter your intention. This is what Repentance is. The bible tells us over and over that we are to repent! "Unless you repent you will not see the kingdom of God." But what does this really mean?
Today we look at the importance of repentance and how to go about it. How to change our direction, and alter our intentions.
Here at Christian Outdoors we like to talk about a lot of different subjects and today is no different. Today we have with us Pastor Gavin Roberts of Utah and his passion is hunting upland birds of the west. For those of us who live in the east, that includes birds such as pheasants, spruce grouse, ruffed grouse, valley quail, gambrels quail, California quail and chucker.
THis variety of game birds allows Gavin to travel all through the west chasing different birds in a variety of terrain with his German Shorthair dogs.
We also learn of his ministry in northern Utah.

How do soldiers prepare for battle? How do we prepare for everyday temptations, and struggles? Many of us are walking into the world ill prepared fro what lies ahead. We are mounting our horses, and load up our tooth picks and head into battle.
We prepare for the struggles of life and the forces against us by diving deep into God's word. Reading it for ourselves and inbedding his word into our hearts. In this episode we look at how to study, why we need to study and the benefits of reading God's word and inbedding it into our lives.
There is little question that God allows peoples paths to cross at the right time in our lives. This is the case with today's guests Rob "Breezy" Henson and Cush Arrue. the owners and foudners of Apex Mountain, a full production company in South Florida. Their story of how they came to Christ, and their company is one that you do not want to miss. This show moved me in so many ways. As we talked, I could feel the presence of God with us and we felt the holy Spirit moving. Listen to this show, and know that God is real, his passion for you is real, and His desire to have a relationship with you is real. Rob and Cush are two guys that love Jesus with an infectious love that makes you WANT to be a part of it.
My prayer is that you too, will leave this show moved by the power of the Holy Spirit as you listen to their story.

How important is prayer? This is one of the questions we get a lot, and we hear a lot of folks talking about prayer. How do we pray? Is there a right way? Is it formal or casual?
To put it simply, prayer is our time to talk to God...in this time we need to know we have God's undivided attention and we need to use the time to thank him, ask for forgiveness, and to let him know our deepest desires and concerns.
I cannot remember where I heard it, but it stuck with me when a pastor preached on prayer and he suggested to do it like this; Thank you, Sorry, Please. We begin by thnaking God for all of our blessings, both big and small. Then we let Him know we are sorry for our failuers and sins, and lastly we ask Him for our hearts desires. This simple method makes praying easier and more focused.
Today we dive into this method and the reasoining of why we pray.
The podcast world is inundated with shows about hunting, fishing and more. We here at Christian Outdoors are part of them. But today's guest, Russell Reynolds is taking a different approach to the outdoor podcast with a focus on conservation.
Sure many other podcasts also focus on conservation, but this one is different, and today we hear why and how Wild Life Outdoors is different. We also get to hear a great story of a life changed when Russell recently became a Christian and dedicated his life to Christ. As a single dad in today's world, having teh grace and help of God is essential to fight off the attacks on ourselves and our children.

Not many people get to experience the fullness of the Alaskan wilderness and the granduer of God's creation. Today's guests gets to do both! Ben Pettway and I met at a Wild Game Dinner where I was the Keynote speaker. After the show, he introduces himself and tells me he is a guide for moose, Dalls Sheep, Inland grizzley and coastal brown bears in Alaska.
After talking to him for a while and seeing his passion for Jesus, I knew I needed to get him on the show. In this show we breakdown the life of an Alaskan big game guide and his life as a guide and his passion for Jesus. It is one of my favorite episodes listening to how he hunts, and shares Christ along the way.
What is happening to the Wild Turkey? Why is the population in decline? How can we save the Wild Turkey? What can I do to help the turkeys in my area? This and more are discussed this week as we have who is considered by most as the foremost knowledgeable person about the wild turkey in America. Dr. Mike Chamberlain. Dr. Chamberlain and I discuss an array of topics about the wild turkey, from habitat decline, to predation, nesting habits, and more as we dive deep into the life and future of the wild turkey in America.
Considered by many to be America's greatest game bird, the wild turkey for many of us has captured our soul and penetrated us in a way that is hard to describe. Dr. Chamberlain is among those who has spent most of his career studying and learning from teh wild turkey. We discuss the science, and the habits of turkeys and those who pursue them. Ted Nugent, Uncle Ted, Motor City Madman, The Nuge! Regardless of what you call him, Ted Nugent is a voice crying in the wilderness for the God given American rights. He is as passionate as anyone I have ever known or met. His knowledge, of all things related to the outdoors, adn politics are second ot none. And his ability to vocalize them in an entertaining, but poignant manner is something that resonates with many Americans.
As the voice for protecting the 1st and 2nd amendment rights of all Americans Ted Nugent can and does "say it like it is" and for many folks, that is exactly what we want to hear and know.
Today, I press Ted on his stance on teh God given right to hunt, his faith in God, and his passion for conservation and for protecting the rights of Americans everywhere.

What is it like for a woman to leave all she knows and move to Seward, Alaska?
Growing up in Oregon, Heather Blair only knew that world. A dedicated follower of Christ, she was diligent in seeking someone God had for her. As so often happens in relationships, it was a "happenstance" meeting of two diverse individuals that turned into a life together in Seward, Alaska.
Heather and her husband Matt Ozerkov set out to begin a new life in Seward, Alaska where they are building Oz Lodge. (www.ozlodge.com) To share the wonders of Alaska with guests.
Given a gift of hospitality, Heather and Matt are dedicated to making sure everyone who visits Oz Lodge feel like family when they leave.
Heather is also one of the most passionate followers of Christ I have had the pleasure of interviewing in 5+ years of doing this show. Her passion is infectious and something I am sure all of her guests feel when they visit. This show will encourage you to trust in God's plan, and also encourage you to be patient while God is working. It also reminded me that what God has instore for us is far bigger than what we can imagine on our own.

Legendary all-American frontman and guitarist, Mark Farner, was the engine that pulled the original Grand Funk Railroad repeatedly to the top of the charts, and today he’s a platinum recording artist 30 times over. At age 75, Farner commands the stage with the same intensity and outpouring of love as he did during the summer of ’69 and his fans are still flocking to see “the Captain.” The rock patriot’s synergy and open heart still come through in epic hits that defined a generation including— “I’m Your Captain” (Closer to Home)” “We’re An American Band” “Heartbreaker” “Bad Time To Be In Love” and recut covers of “The Loco-Motion” and “Some Kind of Wonderful.” Being viewed as a “Rockstar” is only one facet of the legacy of this Michigan-born son. Mark is as real as they get: he’s a husband, a father, and grandfather, and in his fourth decade of marriage to wife Lesia. He’s a true family man.
“Love is unconditional,” he explains. “Just like when you hold a baby, the love transfers. I feel that love from the audience when I’m on stage.”
Farner, the rock patriot that he is, works tirelessly to honor our nation’s service personnel and Veterans wherever they are stationed. He wants everyone to remember the huge sacrifices our men and women in the armed services freely give; all to protect our amazing country and freedoms.
Some 50 years later something magical still happens when Farner takes the stage. His voice is still strong and on key, his guitar playing still slick and lighting quick, and his trademark prancing still commands the stage and mesmerizes his audiences around the world.
“I love playing live where I can connect with people of all backgrounds,” he said. “ It’s all about the fans…and all about love.”
At the age of 9 Farner accepted Jesus at his dad's wake and since then has been in hot pursuit of the love found only through the blood of Christ. He is unashamed of his faith and his passion, with 4 "God Rock" albums to his credit, his mission today is to share his passion for music and his passion for Jesus with his hoards of fans around the world.

Getting a royal turkey slam in a hunting career is a great accomplsihment for any dedicated turkey hunter. Doing it in one season is amazing. Just the logistics alone can be daunting. I have done this show for 218 episodes and have met a lot of fine people and heard a plethora of stories and encounters with Christ. Few, if any are as passionate about sharing Jesus to others as is today’s guest. Andy Kaminski with Rugged Cross outdoors has a passion for Jesus that is infectious, and sincere. Speaking with Andy was unlike any interview I have done. His deep passion for Jesus and sharing his faith with others was moving and his stories of how God intervened on a hunt with a lost hunter is remarkable and inspiring.
Rugged Cross Outdoors is a non-profit ministry that shares the great outdoors with the youth of this country. In sharing the outdoors with the youth it also gives them a platform to share the love of Jesus with these youth.

In the world of archery hunting, some of the biggest debates and squabbles are centered around which broadhead you shoot and why. There are hundreds of designs, dozens of manufactuers and styles taht cause a pleothera of discussions in hunting camp.
Mechanical, fixed, vented, unvented, double bevel, single bevel, two blade, three blade, four blade, replaceable blade, lightweight, heavy, steel, aluminum, titanium, and more. If there is a way to make a hole, it has been designed, manufactured and sold.
But the questions remains, which is best for me? To answer this and other questions about the venerable broadhead, I brought two guys in to discuss this topic.
Jeff Stringer, and Ryan Corkell of Vantage Point Archery to discuss this topic and more and see what the differences are and why.
We also discuss why God has played a big impact in thier lives and business, its a great conversation with a few surprises as they release for the first time here on our show, their expansion into other areas of the outdoors with the launch of;

200th Episode Celebration.
In the world of Podcasting 90% of all podcasts end before their 10th episode. Of the 10% remaining, only .5% make it to 100 episodes. Today CHRISTIAN OUTDOORS PODCASTS celebrates 200 episodes of content designed to "discuss all things outdoors and how to enjoy God every day."
For the past 4 years we have pushed, climbed, crawled and fought our way through every week of recording podcasts. I have grown as a host, and as a producer. Many new friendships have been started through this podcast and God has worked and moved through the conversations about the outdoors and his grace and love for us. God has blessed us beyond measure.
What began as a small mission and ministry has grown into more than 1,600,000 downloads and a subscriber base of more than a million. It is truly humbling to see how God is working in and through this show.
Today, Jon Goodwin, Pastor of Heartland Bible Church in Gasport, NY and Chris Taylor, pastor of Immanuel Baptist in Glasgow, Ky join me as they have done so many times before.

Three different men from different parts of the country and different churches all make a case for Jesus. This may be one of the most powerful episodes we have ever done.
But don't worry, we are set in and season 5 looks to the best yet! I have great guests coming on board and some older ones are coming back as we continue to strive to "discuss all things outdoors and how to enjoy God every day."

For the past 20 years Jeff Danker has been a staple on outdoor television. Known for killing giant whitetail deer. Jeff is one of the best hunters, and television producers in the industry. Growing up in central Oklahoma, Jeff cut his teeth in the outdoors in rodeo as a calf roper and team roping.
Buckventures television was his way of making a product that shows a deep passion for hunting whitetail deer. Jeff's obsession with whitetail deer is on a different level. Matching wits with mature whitetail bucks and sharing his faith in Jesus is what drives him. An unapologetic Christian, Jeff shares with us his outdoor adventures and his passion for Jesus in this episode.
It is one of the shows I have wanted to do for a long time, and we were finally able to get together and discuss his life and his faith journey. Jeff Danker is a class act, as real as it gets, and someone who's message will move you to action.
@Buckventures. on IG Buckventures on FB and look for Buckventures on the Outdoor channel as his second show, The Woodsmen on Sportsman channel and MyOutdoor TV.
What is a mountain man? In days gone by, the mountain man was a rugged individual who carved his life out of the Rocky Mountains, Yukon or Alaska living off the land. Trapping, hunting, fishing and more.
Many a boy grew up dreaming of living such a life, but few of us have pursued it with the passion and dedication as Billy Molls. Known as the Modern Day Mountain Man. Billy Molls has guided hunters across the Alaskan wilderness for more than two decades.
Hunting Dall sheep and Alaskan-Yukon moose in the Brooks range, Grizzly bears in the western interior and Brown bears on the pennuslia and Kodiak island. Molls has lived a life many of us dream about.
Chronicling most of this through a video camera, The Modern Day Mountain Man is a popular channel on YouTube and social media. Billy's open personality and willingness to share his struggles and his faith make his shows a "must-see TV"
Today we discuss his life as a guide and his faith journey as he spends months each year in the wilderness of Alaska.

It is Holy week, the last week of Jesus' life and as we approach Easter Sunday. I brought with me Pastor Jon Goodwin of Heartland Bible Church of Gasport, NY to talk with me, not about Easter Sunday, but rather we talk about Friday. The day Jesus dies on the cross. We discuss what that day means to us individually and then we dive into the theological side of what Jesus accomplished on the cross.
More than anything we want the listener to know that what Jesus did on the cross, he did for you. He opened the door to the father for you. He took on the sin of the world for you. He conquered death for you. He came, suffered and died for you so you would not face the death of sin. He did everything he did just for you.
If you have not taken the opportunity to accept the offer of salvation for you that is given through the blood of Jesus. Do not take another day without making that decision and commitment.
If you want to talk about this with anyone, you can email me directly pete@christianoutdoors.org I will be happy to talk with you about any of this so you can experience hope unleashed.

Part 2 with Lance Kreuger considered by many to be the nation’s best wildlife photographer. In this part we get into more detail of photography, and we also spend a good bit of time discussing his passionate Christian walk and how that has influenced his life. How he uses his position in the outdoor community to exercise his “friendship evangelism” to lead people into relationships with Christ. It is a great show with one of the premier photographers in the world.
www.lance-kreugercom is where you can find his material.
Part 1 of a 2 part discussion with who many consider the greatest photographer of wildlife in America. Lance Krueger is best known for his pictures of whitetail deer and wild turkeys and today he and I discuss some of the nuisances of getting these epic pictures. How he got into the business of photography, how he gets some of his shots, and his equipment.
Much of this discussion is technical for photographers who are interested in equipment, his transition from film to digital and why. But we also cover a lot of the details of how he gets close to mature deer and turkeys.
The discussion is so good we kept talking and I decided to break it into two episodes. Next week we will get into more detail of photography, and we also discuss his passionate Christian walk and how that has influenced his life.
www.lance-krueger.com is where you can find his material.
Every now and again you stumble across someone who is doing something right and for the right reasons. This happened to me when I ran across Oscar "Moosie" Williamson and his new hunting apparel company; Catch and Release Hunting Apparel.
Seven years ago, Moosie set out to make the highest quality hunting clothing at an affordable cost. Realizing that the premium brands out there, while good, were insanely expensive and well beyond the avarage hunter or outdoor enthusiast. Moosie designed and developed a line of clothing that rival the top names in the industry at a fraction of the cost. Catch and Release Camo is not your run-of-the-mill camo. On the contrary, the material is the highest quality you will find and their price point is reachable by the average outdoor enthusist.
In this episode we discuss his adventuers as he hunted Tahr in New Zealand, the plains of Africa and in his native Idaho. If you wan to learn more go to; www.catchandrelease.us

Adventuers in the Yukon with Derek Baker is a great show! We are discussing hunting Alaska-Yukon Moose, Wood Bison and ice fishing. But also learning how Derek and his family are serving as missionaries in the far north.
The Yukon is a dropping off place for many internationl folks heafing to Canada. Derek and his wife are working with SEND international (www.SEND.org) to help these folks assimilate into life in Canada. Before this, they spent many years in small village as missionaries to the First Nations People of Teslin, Yukon. He has a fascinating story of how he ended up in the Yukon and how his family is serving Christ in the far north.
Like many missionaries, Derek and his family are self funded. Which means they rely on the generous donations of others to support them If you want to contribute to his ministry you can do so here www.send.org/bakerbits
When I met Heath Hyatt at SHOT show a few weeks ago, I knew I needed him on the show. Heath is a fellow podaster with his show. The Journey on Houndsman XP https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/houndsman-xp-sportsmens-empire/id1462431615
He is a dedicted and talented dog trainer. His passion is running bears with hounds. But Heath is also a K9 Trainer for law enforcement. This is a fascinating discussion about dogs and hounds. Throughout the discussion I was reminded of the poem by Francis Thompson where he writes;
"As the hound follows the hare, never ceasing in its running, ever drawing nearer in the chase, with unhurrying and imperturbed pace, so does God follow the fleeing soul by His Divine grace."
I think you will enjoy this episode.

Truth in Nature Outdoors, (www.truthinnature.org) is a ministry that is focused on helping fatherless boys with positive male mentors. Began in 2009 by Jeff Davis of Dallas, Georgia. Davis felt a calling to help boys who were without a father. His life was shattered when his parents divorced and he lost his male role model, his wife suffered a similar situation when her father died when she was twelve years old. They recognized a need for boys to have a positive male role model and Truth in Nature Outdoors was formed.
Today, they have 11 chapters across the nation and are helping hundreds of boys with positive male mentors. By using the outdoors to draw these young boys ages 11-18, they introduce them to outdoor activities and also the gospel. Every session includes time to discuss the love of Christ and how he can change their lives.
Whether they are building fires, archery lessons, or learning how to be a gentleman in today's world, Truth in Nature Outdoors takes these boys and young men and shows them how Godly men are to behave and how they can have positive male mentors in their lives.
