A few guys reviewing: Film. TV. All of it.
No fuss, no nonsense, exactly what it says on the tin. We focus on films and TV shows for our main segment, but also discuss anything ranging from music to video games to other podcasts in our recommendations section. In our Submissions Spotlight section, fans can send us in their work to be reviewed live on air. We don't edit our episodes except to keep them clean, because we aim to have a more laid back atmosphere, just like chatting to your friends.
Episodes are streamed on YouTube then released every week on Sunday at 6PM UK time.
In this episode we watch the Tarkovsky classic Mirror (1975). Described as a "cinematic poem" it is presented as a series of seemingly unconnected memories. Listen to us REFLECT on it, and you may SEE DOUBLE of one of the ratings, but what is the rating? And who gave it? A true mystery that can only be solved by listening to this episode!
Want to be featured on the podcast? Send us your short film / music / book / poem and we'll feature you on our SUBMISSIONS SPOTLIGHT section. We'll talk about your work giving some constructive criticism to help you get even better, then link it in the description. Free promo innit.

This week we review the... movie(??) Khraniteli (Хранители), aka USSR Lord of the Rings. Broadcast just once in 1991 by Leningrad Television, this masterpiece was thought to be lost media until some lovely person just went and found it didn't they? So yeah, low budget Soviet Lord of the Rings. Oh boy. Well technically it's just The Fellowship of the Ring. Hard to spoil really because everything gets set up then never paid off. In other news Tolkien is turning in his grave. IT HAS TOM BOMBADIL THOUGH!!!!!

It's been 3 years since Daft Punk announced their split with their infamous Epilogue video. But did you know it's just a clip from a feature length avant-garde scifi movie the band released in 2007? Sure, but you didn't know that it doesn't feature a single Daft Punk track right? Ah but did you know Thomas Bangalter read 500 issues of American Cinematographer to prepare for directing it? Ok ok, but you definitely didn't know that Daft Punk rhymes with "shaft monk" and "laughed drunk" right? Yep thought so. Well you've got some catching up to do - just watch the bloody episode you cretin.

In episode 43 of the podcast, we subject ourselves to the 2019 movie Polar, starring the beloved Mads Mikkelson. The film follows an ex-hitman who must fight his way to retirement. Unfortunately, Mikkelson was not able to save some of this movie’s problems which we talk about on the podcast as we normally do. It would be a bit weird if we didn’t talk about the films we watched wouldn’t it? Maybe this episode should just be 1 hour of silence, it would serve you right! Jk jk… unless?

Listen to us recall how much the director Mike Flanagan spooked us; experience our appreciation for the acting of stars such as Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Henry Thomas and maybe we will complain about jump scares which is what everyone seems to do nowadays. For our 22nd episode, we watch and review the Netflix original I'm Thinking of Ending Things, written and directed by Charlie Kaufman and based on the book of the same name by Iain Reid. Starring Jesse Plemons and Jessie Buckley, the plot follows a young woman on a roadtrip with her boyfriend Jake to meet his parents, but nothing is as it seems and as the story progresses both the woman and the viewer begin to lose grip on what is actually real. Our discussion involves our interpretation and explanation of the surreal ending and compare it to the novel's, and how it uses a 4:3 aspect ratio and other techniques to create tension. We also touch on the Academy Awards' new representation and inclusion requirements for films to be considered for the Oscars - most headlines about this are clickbait, and the actual standards are very reasonable and a step in the right direction for the industry. Welcome to "Entertainment of Excellence", the podcast where we review: Film. TV. All of it. No fuss, no nonsense, exactly what it says on the tin. We focus on films and TV shows for our main segment, but also discuss anything ranging from music to art to poetry in our recommendations section. In our Submissions Spotlight section, fans can send us in their work to be reviewed live on air. We don't edit our episodes except to keep them clean, because we aim to have a more laid back atmosphere, just like chatting to your friends. We started this podcast for fun as a hobby. We are not sponsored or endorsed in any way (we’re not well enough known for that!), so the only bias we may have is our personal views.
Our episodes (usually about an hour long) consist of us reviewing a film, outlining the plot, discussing strengths and weaknesses and rating it out of ten. We then provide recommendations, not necessarily limited to film or TV. All of these are included in the main episode, which we stream live at 4PM British Time every Sunday on our YouTube channel, and then upload to many other platforms.
We hope you enjoy the podcast, any feedback or criticism is warmly welcomed.

We're finally on our twentieth episode, and to commemorate this achievement we suffer through one of the worst movies we have ever seen. Watching and reviewing the 2003 comedy Kangaroo Jack was not just painful, it made us question what comedy really is. The script follows the misadventures of two stupid Americans, Louis (Anthony Anderson) and Charlie (Jerry O'Connell) as they chase an animated Kangaroo wearing a jacket with $50K in it throughout Australia. Christopher Walken also surprisingly makes an appearance as mafia boss Sal Maggio. Starring Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro, and directed by Terry Gilliam, the movie is a satirical film based on the 1971 book of the same name written by Hunter S. The loose plot follows journalist Raoul Duke and his attorney Dr. Gonzo’s trip to Vegas to cover the Mint 400 race, which devolves into a drug-fuelled exploration of the city which brings to light the failure of the American Dream. Our eighth episode in which we review the 2020 Netflix series Hollywood. The show follows the story of a group of characters who are trying to make it big in Hollywood in post war America. Based loosely on the real life of ex-marine Scott Bowers and including true characters such as Rock Hudson, the season is the story of a group of actors, writers and directors trying against all odds to produce “Peg”, a film following the life of Peg Entwhistle, a woman famous for jumping off the Hollwoodland sign. We give our rating but we ran out of time for recommendations unfortunately.
