Bindings & Bookmarks is a weekly podcast book club hosted by James Aquilina and Jared Quinn. Reading has been a bonding experience for both of us since way back when we met in high school and we used to swap comic books and manga. Now, as adults, it has gotten more difficult to find the time to read which is why we started this club. We hope you join us as we get lost among the pages.
Stephen King bears the label of the 'King of Horror' but in our latest book review of The Green Mile we find out that he is much more than that. Jared and James are back to give their thoughts on a somber story about a miracle worker on death row.
It's Spooktober! Meaning it's the perfect time of year for depressing, post-apocalyptic nightmares. The Road by Cormac McCarthy is just that novel, and it ends up being a harrowing journey for us almost as much as it is for the characters in the book. Ok, maybe not that awful, but you can decide for yourselves. Join us as we take a nihilist road trip through the end of the world.
To Kill a Mockingbird is one of America's greatest novels. An instant classic in is time and still to this day one of the most read novels by young America in schools. And somehow Jared had never read it, until now! We dive deep into the Finch family, the mysterious Boo Radley and confront the racism that is engrained not only in the fictional Maycomb county, but sadly the racism that still lives on in modern America. We also mildly discuss the controversial sequel Go Set a Watchman.
The newest episode is dedicated to Pet Sematary by Stephen King (1983). Jared and James discuss many things in this episode such as if they had the opportunity would they use the annex to the Pet Sematary on someone they love. Is Louis Creed the most flawed main protagonist in a novel? Are things in Ludlow main being controlled by fate, or is there something else influencing the residents of the town? Is Stephen King America's greatest novelist? And much more!
This is the final episode covering the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Jared and James sit down and dissect the final book in the trilogy; The Return of the King. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we did reading/talking about it.

Jared and James sit down OUTDOORS to chat about the Fellowship of the Ring, the first novel in J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings. We have changed our set up so now you may hear a lower audio quality but we hope to make up for it with some electrifying, high quality book talk!
