Welcome to the weekly podcast from Lifegate Church led by Pastor Les Beauchamp. Lifegate is a multi-campus church that exists to invite people everywhere to discover, live and give life in Jesus!
Human relationships are a full-contact sport. We’re bound to experience hurt and even harm as we navigate life in relationship with others. Thankfully, Jesus offers us wisdom to help us remain whole and free in the midst of relational pain.
Jesus began his earthly ministry with a manifesto moment, claiming to be the one who would bring freedom to all who followed him. Let’s talk about the kind of freedom Jesus came to bring.
Jesus talked about the Kingdom of God more than any other topic, and yet so few of us think much about it on a daily basis. Join us in this series as we’ll walk through the Gospel of Luke to see how good the news of the Kingdom truly is!

The meaning of life is a complex question and one we’ve all asked in one way or another. Let’s discover what Scripture has to say about life’s meaning and how to cultivate a life that matters.
Some of Jesus’ most famous words were: Love God and love others. Even many not following Jesus have heard this phrase. But there’s an invitation embedded in this command that we often miss, and it helps us understand what we’re here for.
The importance of rest is making a comeback in our culture. Companies are offering more time off and even occasional sabbaticals. Athletes are tracking their sleep in order to increase performance. But long before vacation days and sleep athletes were a thing, rest was an ancient promise that God offered to all who know Him and follow Him.
Fire and Formation are two ideas we see in Scripture that are both an important part of becoming more like Jesus for the good of others. Fire is often associated with the presence of God and formation relates to spiritual practices. Both are available, as means of grace, for our spiritual growth. But, many of us find ourselves only accessing one or the other. But, when we create space for both Fire and Formation in our lives, we find the practices are activities that place us in the Presence of God.
We’ve talked a lot about resting in God’s presence in this teaching series, but did you know God is looking for a place to rest as well? Thankfully, Scripture tells the kind of home God is looking for and it’ll encourage you!
As we kick off the year, let’s resist the pressure to hustle and instead rest in the presence of God’s love. Here are some insights and guidelines for starting the year Free To Rest.
We ask a lot of questions along this road trip we call life. But, beneath them all, the question of all questions is ‘why?’ The Christmas story gives the best and most trustworthy answer to the ‘why’s’ of life and we’ll explore that answer in this sermon.
The first coming of Jesus was characterized by “great joy for all the peoples” but while we wait for His return, it can often be nearly impossible to experiencing lasting joy. Being a witness calls for bravery in a watching world. And while we often think bravery is about being loud and proud, we’ll discover that in Jesus, bravery is more about being honest and authentic.
We often think being an effective witness for Jesus requires impressive spirituality, but according to Jesus being a bright witness starts with the basics of healthy relationships.
Being a faithful witness to the Lordship of Jesus is not only about what we say, but how we live - and that includes how we use our money! Let’s learn how generosity can be a beautiful witness to a watching world.
As we conclude our journey through the book of Exodus, we’ll learn how to walk as free people. We often think staying free is all about resisting bad things. But, Jesus shows us a better way to live as free people.
We all want to experience God’s presence, but so few of us understand how. Some of us try too hard and put all the pressure on ourselves. Others are too passive, assuming that if God wants to show up, then that’s up to Him. But, embedded in the last 5 chapters of Exodus are two simple keys to consistently experiencing the fullness of God’s presence.
God rescued His people from slavery, yet they still identified with their old life. He desired more for them — not just to be called His children, but to live as His children. In the same way, God uses our wilderness seasons to reshape our identity, reveal our purpose, and draw us closer to Him, even in the midst of difficulty.
In the story of Exodus, God gave His people the law to show them how to live; then through Jesus, He showed us who He really is. This message is about a God who meets us in our guilt, reveals His heart of grace, and sets us free to live in His love.
This sermon explores how true freedom is found not in autonomy but in conscious connection with God—demonstrated through the story of Exodus—where God’s character reveals that freedom and transformation come through an awareness of His presence.
In the story of Exodus, God used the law to reveal His Holiness and define His people. This message is how God reveals Himself to us, then provides the way for us to know Him and the freedom that comes when we are in right relationship with Him.
The Lord is asking those of us who have been trapped and terrified to break camp and take a step of faith. Where do you feel enslaved by fear? If God showed up to be exactly who He says He is in that area, what would your step of faith look like?
The “blood of Jesus” is often a religious phrase we throw around that an increasingly growing number of people don’t understand. Let’s unpack this ancient idea that offers freedom and life for those who believe today.
Sin over-promises and under-delivers. Even the sin that feels good on the front end leaves us empty or wounded over time. God came to free us from the enslaving power of sin, but what it requires on our part is surrender.
Deep down we all want the same thing – freedom. But, we all go after it in different ways and are often looking for the wrong thing . The book of Exodus gives us hope that we don’t’ have to earn or work for freedom – we simply have to receive it. And that should give us hope!
Community is what each of us has been created for and community is necessary for human flourishing. Community is where the irrational commitment to the well-being of its members is happening. However, you don’t just drift into community. It takes intentionality, making it a priority, and being committed to community. To know and experience an authentic and vibrant Christian community is to be loved and a community of loving people is God’s signature.
Forming deep relationships is hard. This sermon will unpack Hebrews 10:19-25 and show how enduring faith is often connected to enduring Kingdom relationships. We will dissect some of the biggest barriers to forming community and give practical advice on how to overcome these barriers and form kingdom friendships that are anchored in the calling of God on your life.
Our greatest call is to serve one another, we do that best in small groups. Let’s discover how Jesus commands us to love one another in this way.
Life is hard. Whether we want to admit it or not, we need help from others. The call for the church is to be a people who carry one another to Jesus, finding healing, identity, and strength together in Him!
We live in a world that highly values individualism and we often assume that Jesus does too. However, Scripture makes it clear that our deepest transformation happens in the context of community.
So many of us view church as optional. When the schedule works out or when we need a spiritual pick-me-up, it’s a good place to pop-in. But Jesus had something entirely different and much better in mind when he started building the Church – He was starting a new family.
Peculiar is not a label any of us wants to use for ourselves, but God actually uses it to describe everyone who has found Life in His son and has become His very own. Peculiar in that case means uncommon, special, and filled with the contagious love of God. It’s this “peculiar” design that is at the heart of God using us all to change our world! The enemy of our souls speaks the language of lies. God’s Word is given to us to combat the lies so we can stand firm in what is true. Let’s learn how to discern the lies and defeat them with the Truth.

Grace is more than a means of salvation, but it’s a source of transformation. Once we encounter God’s grace, we’re called to live grace and give grace to others.
Does the Good News seem too good to be true? It sure did to the first disciples when they saw their resurrected Messiah. Let’s learn why the resurrection of Jesus offered unbelievable joy on the very first Easter morning and why it still offers joy to us today!
We need the Holy Spirit to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable as we look at the heart of repentance. Repentance and Grace to together cause if there is no repentance there will be no grace, why cause your back is to God…GRACE CHANGES YOU.
Even after we understand the real meaning of grace, we often find ourselves still working to earn it, deserve it, or grasp it from God. But Scripture tells us grace comes not from effort, but through faith. Let’s learn how choosing faith so we can receive grace.
Grace is something we desperately want to receive, but we rarely want to give. It’s been misunderstood by many inside the Church and missed out on altogether, by those outside. We’ll spend the next several weeks discovering what grace really is, how to receive it and how to give it away.

Effort is an important aspect in any worthy endeavor. And while we don’t earn our salvation, we are called by Jesus to put in some effort as we run the race He’s marked out for us.

True freedom isn’t found in striving but in receiving the transformation only God can give. Jacob spent his life fighting—grasping for control, running from his past, and wrestling with who he was. But one encounter with God changed everything. Like Jacob, we often resist surrender because we don’t fully see who God says we are.
Science reveals that giving is like a drug. We get an emotional high from giving, it creates a positive relational bond with those to whom we give and it can even be addictive! So why don’t we all do it more? Our resistance to giving is often rooted in our lack of freedom. Let’s learn how God set us free, so that we can freely give away what He’s given us.
Jesus didn’t offer us freedom from afar, but he won our freedom by making his dwelling among us. And now as His followers, we not only benefit from his redemptive move, but we’re called to do the same for others.
The year of Jubilee is one of the most significant and inspiring concepts we see in Scripture. The promise that debts will be cancelled for the good others isn’t just what Jesus eventually did for us, but what we’re called to do for one another.
It’s pretty common to settle for second best, especially when we aren’t aware of anything better. Jesus arrived to offer us something better, in every area of life. Let’s learn how to move past second best and set our eyes on something better.
Freedom is the core cry of every heart. And while we search tirelessly for a measure of freedom through institutions, the right lifestyle, or a better mental state, Scripture invites us to the only trustworthy path to find true freedom.

The tithe is often seen as irrelevant, obsolete or a heavy obligation. However, the tithe is intended to be a willing act of joy-filled worship that aligns us with God’s principles of the harvest.

Money tells us that cash is king. If we have cash, we have the power that will gives us the freedom we all want. But Jesus tells us, while money is a form of power, it’s not the kind of power we need to seek.
The covenant of God's everlasting love and faithfulness to Abraham was for him and his family and then through them to the entire world. God wants everyone to experience this same covenant promise! He’s chosen His people and our willingness to mirror and mimic (imitate) His faithfulness as His means of making the world right again; starting with one relationship, marriage, family, church at a time. This can happen if we learn to heed His Call to Faithfulness.

The angel’s declaration to the shepherds was of “good news of great joy” available to everyone! What is this news that produces such great joy and how does a person access it? Embedded in the ancient story of the shepherds’ encounter is the path we can still take to experience a life of great joy.
During the Christmas season, you don’t even have to go to church to hear the message ringing in the air: joy to the world. Originally, that phrase was tied to the birth of Jesus, but these days most are hoping to find joy in the gifts, the food or the time off from work. However, those pleasures often don’t bring the lasting joy we’re searching for. Joy to the world is a promise from God that’s available to all and in this teaching series we’ll discover how to receive it!

Did you know all of us are known for something? The car we drive, the body we build, the scowl we wear, the tip we always or never give, the flag we fly, etc. What we are known for usually is an expression of who we are and what we value most. God is known for His outrageous love and generosity shown toward everyone, especially the undeserving. Becoming like Him in our love and generosity is one of the greatest expressions of His presence and plan for the world. And it all starts with believing and receiving fully, His generous love toward us!
Often, what we do first matters most. We understand this principle when we plan our calendars or organize our to-do list, but we sometimes fail to see how this translates into our relationship with God. But, when we learn to prioritize God’s kingdom, it can unleash peace in our hearts and justice in the world.
If a person was asked to sum up the entire message of the Bible, they could by quoting 7 words: For God so loved . . . that He gave. Love and Giving always go together. A person can give without loving but it is impossible to love without giving. Giving is the very essence of love. Loving God, as we are learning, is for the good of others. God is still speaking and wants His people to learn to hear Him. Prior to Jesus’ ascension, He told His disciples that He had many more things to say to them but that He would depend on the Spirit of Truth to tell them those things. He is still speaking by the same Spirit of Truth today and wants to talk to each of us on a daily basis if we are willing to learn how to hear him amidst all the competing voices of our day.

One of the biggest difficulties of the Christian life is being IN the world and not becoming OF the world. Fortunately, the book of Daniel gives us great guidance on how to handle this balance. Jesus came to offer us abundant life, but so few of us seem to have it. To be honest, most Christians’ lives don’t look much different than the rest of the world. What are we missing? Is “abundant" really possible or should we just settle for normal?
We are all feeling the impacts of a world-wide crisis that has lasted much longer than our bodies are designed to withheld. The result – we are languishing. Yet, as followers of Jesus Christ, we are designed to flourish and live life to the full. Connection is the antidote to languishing and it is God’s design for His church. We live in a “Never Enough” Culture, constantly receiving messages that create a deep sense of discontentment in our souls. Thankfully, the Bible has much to say about our search for contentment, and in the final chapter of Philippians, Paul reveals the secret of finding contentment in every situation.

Most of us have experienced the anxiety and confusion of being disoriented. It may have been coming out of anesthesia, the aftermath of divorce, or the loss of a loved one.
