Today’s episode is born out of a conversation I recently had with a good friend of mine. This Friend is a Counselor, a Mentor and a Facilitator to Inner-City Youth in the Tampa Bay Area. He has been there for 26 years, a shining light in the community. During our conversion, he relayed to me the fact that some of the topics we discuss concerning God's Kingdom or the messages on my previous Podcast would not resonate with the inner city youth - they would not “feel” my message. After we got the phone I started to think about that, and I had a discussion with myself. I said “Self”, what would you say to these kids if you had a chance to speak to them?
Jesus said that he came that we may have life and have it abundantly, or life in fullness. And what is that abundance? It’s His presence.
God is always at work, miracles are happening every day, the everyday lives of ordinary everyday folk like me and you are being transformed in marvelous ways. These are the stories that need to be told. We need you to tell your Jesus story, We need you to be Your Jesus Story- and frankly I think you need to be reminded of your Jesus story, to be reminded of that first encounter with Jesus that changed your life forever.
So what is your worldview? Is the world a flourishing and safe garden planted with intention and planning by a good and loving Creator? Or do you view the world as a dangerous wilderness that’s out of control vacated by its Creator? Are you living by Faith or Fear?
The purpose of the GOD+People Podcast is to provoke the Jesus Community to love and good works. I know that the term good works will cause some to tune out. The word good works has fallen out of favor, and some will say Corey “we save by grace and not by works”! and I will say yes, this is true, but it is the grace of God that leads you to repentance (or the turning to God because His kindness ), the fruit of that repentance is good works.
Friends today I want to talk to you about the Gospel. The original word in Greek is euangelion, which means a good announcement or good news. For those of you who feel you already have a grasp on the gospel I will invite you to stay tuned, allow me to share an angle of the gospel message that you may not have considered before.
