It was a special Sunday as we celebrated 12+ years of Luke's ministry at The Billabong. In his final sermon as Minister, Luke reminded us that the Church isn’t a club — it’s a body, with Jesus as the Head. We’re meant to move together, not just as connected parts, but in sync with Him — listening, following and unified. Without the Head, the body can’t function but when we stay aligned with Jesus, we can do great stuff in His name.Plus… there were egg & spoon races. And tears. And worship. And lots of gratitude.

This past Sunday, we had the second to last part of the Ripple Effect sermon series. Luke delivered the fourteenth instalment, which was titled "What I've Learned About Making Ripples."Luke spoke about how the Bible can guide us in making ripples that lead to others salvation. In 1 Peter 3:13-15, Peter wrote about not being scared to do good, even when faced with opposition. Although we may not be in danger like Christians in India, we still face resistance from the world, the devil, and our own desires. Unfortunately, for the past 100 years, the church has been comfortable and wealthy, which has made many of us think that sharing our faith isn't important. Luke identified that our biggest barrier preventing us from sharing our faith is being too busy, which is something we often choose to be. We need to stop thinking about it and just do it! Let's allow God's story to shape our story and invite others to join us in making ripples that can lead to salvation.

In this week's sermon, titled "The Ripple Effect, Part 12: Transformation and Change," we learn about how God's love for us transforms and changes us to become people who choose to love others. From the creation to the fall, the redemptive act of Jesus, and the re-creation, we see how knowing God's redemptive act changes us. We know that God loves us because he sent his only Son to die for us as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Through this divine act, we carry the spiritual DNA of Jesus and become children of God. We must reflect Jesus' character in the world, which is love. Join us this vision Sunday as we explore "The Church We Want to be". In this message, we are reminded of the importance of building a church that is marked by the fruit of the Spirit and the Kingdom, such as gratitude, joy, love, peace, gospel partnership, and hope. We are encouraged to consider to what extent we feel these words of Paul are already true when we think of our church, and to be genuinely honest about how things are right now. We are reminded that if the fruit of the Spirit is our hope and goal, we've got a long way to go in some areas, but we can choose to pray for and engage with our church in this way, no matter how we feel. This Sunday we continued our sermon series entitled “Fear or Faith?” Lessons from the life of Joshua.
Fear can overwhelm and dissuade us from doing what God wants us to do. Cam encouraged us to combat fear by faith, remembering that that God has a plan for us and knows what's good for us and noting that we also find courage when encouraged by others. "Be strong and courageous, don't be afraid or discouraged for the Lord God will be with you wherever you may go." - Joshua 1:9. What a great encouragement to step out in faith and trust God despite our fears! Emmanuel - God is with us!
On Sunday we continued our series entitled “Fear or Faith?” Lessons from the life of Joshua.
Samuel preached from Joshua 6 & 7 and highlighted for us that God is faithful to his promises. When things didn’t go to plan, with uncertainty and disappointment, Joshua turned to God for direction – he had faith in God’s plan. It’s ok to ask God questions in our uncertainty – Jesus used the same strategy but ultimately trusted his Father. We are to be obedient, knowing that God goes before us, to pray to know God’s will and direction, to trust and act in faith and make each decision in the light of the WORD. God can use us; all he needs from us is our availability.

Luke puts all we have learned about discipleship from Jesus himself into a practical "how-to" list and leaves us with the question "What one thing is Jesus asking me to do to be obedient to him as a disciple-maker?"
Samuel shares with us that discipleship requires total commitment. Taking up the cross is to give one's life in obedience to Jesus' direction and living out one's discipleship publicly.

Luke shared the ways that Jesus taught his followers to make disciples, even before he gave them the great comission. He compared parts of Luke's gospel, and the book of Acts.
Luke explored why we should make Jesus' last command, 'Go and make disciples,' our first priority. He shared the story of Zacchaeus and what sort of person he might look like today.
Luke encouraged us to choose to spend time with God, since it is the most important choice we could make each day.
Luke challenged us to think about how we respond to different issues, and whether our response is still loving to one another.
Luke explained the significance of the Christmas season for each of us as we watched 'The Messengers'.

Luke reminded us that Joy ultimately comes from God, and that we should protect our joy from 'joy stealers.'

Luke challenged us to not limit what God can do by our own understandings, and remember the 'already but not yet.'
Luke shared a great example about how we are to make sure there is 'one table,' ensuring that EVERYONE who has received the grace of Jesus is welcome.
Luke talked about the cultural differences between modern society and the Corinthians in Paul's time, but also how the human heart and it's issues and flasws are still the same.
Luke explained that we should trust only in God and obey him, but that we should use the freedoms Jesus has given us to serve and love others. We can learn how to become more like Christ by looking to other Christians and seeing the good, imitatable things in them.

On Easter Sunday, Luke reminded us that it is by Grace through Faith that we are saved, and what this means for us.

Anneliis did a quick recap of the Ephesians series and then encouraged us to reflect on some questions.
Teresa encouraged us to put on the Armour of God daily as she shared on the second part of Ephesians 6.
Sarah focused on Ephesians 6: 1 - 4, and shared how we can honour our parents, even when it is hard.
Andrew spoke on the second half of Ephesians 5. He talked about the context of when the letter would have been shared and how the audience would have recieved it. He shared how we should serve one another out of reverance to Christ.
Dan shared how we can often become overwhelmed by the weeds of life, and that we need to pull them out and fill the space with the good things of God.
Cam shared his thoughts on the second half of Ephesians 4 and how we should live as Christian disciples.
Rachel began the second half of Ephesians talking about the big therefore in the middle of the book and how we are to be united in Christ.
Yoy shared with us his thoughts on Ephesians 3: 14 - 21, and how we have the power to love, the passion to love and the priority to proclaim God's love.
Greg explored the beginning of Ephesians 3 and gave us a brief history of the book. He reminded us that we can't grasp the whole mystery of God, but God reveals himself to us through faith.
Aaron spoke on the second part of Ephesians 2 and how we can now be in relationship with God.
John shared on Ephesians chapter 2 and how we can have meaning, purpose and hope in Christ.
Aaron finished off Chapter 1 of Ephesians. He explored how we can know God and what our hope and inheritance is.
John introduced us to Ephesians chapter 1 and shared how he has been blessed by God. Therefore he blesses the Lord and grows in him.
Luke introduced us to the book of Ephesians and how we are meant to live in light of the Gospel.
Teresa shared some of her struggles and how there is Good News to be found in the Bible and a reason to rejoice.
Guest preacher, Andy Hogarth shared his thoughts on Isaiah chapter 43. He encouraged us to let go of the good things of the past, so that we can grab hold of the new things God is doing.

We asked the question "what is our response to the resurrection" as we read the final words penned by Mark in his account of Jesus', death and resurrection.
We looked at parts of the passion narrative in Mark's gospel and God's desire to align our thinking and perspective with His.
