This podcast explores the beauty of intentional living in the everyday life. Intentional with our dreams, relationships, home, kids, thoughts, words ... you name it! Get inspired to take control of your life and start living more free
So in this episode we are going to be talking about how to avoid creating habits that you will have to undo once things go back to normal. And I use that phrase “go back to normal“ loosely because I don’t believe we’re ever going back to normal. I think it’s impossible to return to normal when you’ve gone through such a season of change. Things will look different. Every single one of us will come out changed one way or another. Our entire society is going to be different for a little while. But when I say go back to normal, I mean when this quarantine is lifted and we are allowed back into the world. Whatever that may look like for you. So let’s talk about the habits we are creating in this time.

Last episode I talked about acknowledging how we feel. Because whatever we don’t acknowledge, we suppress. Every suppressed emotion will eventually come out in one way or another.
So now that we’ve all been honest with ourselves about how we feel, we have all given ourselves permission to ride the roller coaster of emotions through this entire thing. And those emotions are allowed to change hour by hour. And you know why they are allowed to change by the hour? Because your brain doesn’t know what to prepare for next. We’ve never been through this. Information is changing daily! And we don’t know how to prepare for the future, because it’s still unknown. We can’t control it, which brings me to today’s episode. Now let’s talk about what we CAN control and what we can’t control. Because the truth is a lot of times those emotions we are dealing with are connected to what we can control and what we can’t control. And when we can determine those two things, we can kind of help balance and navigate those feelings. Because for some of us we are stuck in an emotion that is attached to something that we actually have control over to make the situation better. Therefore leaving us in a position to improving our emotional state.

Guys! What is even happening in the world right now? It is so incredibly wild to me that one issue, has affected so many things. It’s affected everything. Like, I had no clue that a virus could have the potential to affect the balloon industry. Do you know what I mean?? Every single industry has been impacted. Whether it’s severely impacted in the form of lack. Or severely impacted in the form of abundance, and we will get into all of that. But as I am currently now living in quarantine, it’s been a few weeks, my whole entire day, my life, my work, my parenting, all of it has taken a complete 180. I am left with so many thoughts and feelings that I know so many of you are feeling the same, thinking the same, and are struggling the same. And so I am drawn to share just some perspective to kind of help in anyway possible, to guide you in this time. And if nothing else, I want you to feel seen and heard, and not alone. And here’s the truth; none of us have done this before. I’m not a professional in getting people through a national lock down. What’s wild is that nobody is! There is no road map. There is no black and white answer. But I do believe perspective can go a long way. And that’s all i want I do. Is just share my heart. That maybe, I will some how, give you some tools to help make this season of uncertainty, a tad easier to navigate.

So for the final episode in this series, let’s talk about how to look for the helpers, and to become the helpers. I think that whole phrase “look for the helpers” is originally from Mr. Rogers. Gosh, I love Mr. Rogers. He was just so cool. But anyway, if you've never heard that phrase, the gist of it is that in the time of crisis, it’s so easy to see the crisis, and all that has gone wrong. But any time something goes wrong, there is an opportunity for helpers to arise. And they always show up. But we have to look for them, and we get the opportunity to become them. So let’s talk about how.

Women are such freaking rock stars! The things we have to go through, that men simply will never understand, is unreal. A menstrual cycle alone is enough to throw a wrench in your week. But then you add on the migraines, the back cramps, the uterus cramps, the lightheadedness, the cravings, the acne, the fatigue, the irritable bowel, and the ridiculous amount of blood loss, it’s makes for a pretty solid week from hell. That’s where HerTime comes in. I happened upon a company called Mixhers on Instagram, followed them for a while, listened to all their testimonials and gave the product a shot for myself. And without 1 month, I had surprisingly positive results. So I reached out to Cody, one of the owners and asked if she could talk to us about their product, how it works, and educate us a little more about our cycles that isn’t taught in 5th grade sex Ed. And on top of that, they were kind enough to give us a discount code so you can try the product!

So often, I hear mothers talk about how they feel like they are losing themselves in the midst of the chaos of their motherhood journey. And trust me I get it. There is something about these children needing you 24/7, the laundry never ends, the dishes never end, the fighting between siblings never ends, the sleepless nights, the sick kids, the bullies at school, the struggling with homework, the booboos they need to be kissed, the bills that need to be paid, the fridge that needs to be filled, and god forbid even the nasty baseboards that need to be wiped down. It’s all consuming. I don’t need to convince any mother that her job is all consuming. But somehow there’s also the simultaneous pressure to not lose yourself. And not only do you have the pressure, but an actual desire to not want to lose yourself. So let’s talk about that.

When I think about all the friends I have who have either struggled with infertility or miscarriage, I can only think of 1 woman that I know of that hasn’t. Just 1! All the others have experienced loss in some way. That’s too many. That is heart breaking. It’s so common. And seems to be on the rise. So today I sit down with Justine Campbell, as she shares her wisdom, knowledge and hope for being able to do something about it! Today’s special guest is the owner and the creator of Aether beauty. So one day I was on Instagram and I personally love Instagram for this reason.... I talked about this in my last weeks episode about how you get to decide what your feed looks like. And my feed is a very positive one and I love how many incredible people and products I have been able to find through Instagram....So one of these clean beauty people that I follow on Instagram, i can’t remember who, had shared this company Aether beauty. So I started following her and I just loved her branding. It’s beautiful it’s super unique and very Indie and just cool. And I’m a sucker for for aesthetics. So after kind of getting to know what her company stands for and all of that (I’ll let her share her story) but try tried her products and they are top notch. They are legit. And you all know that I have a very high standard when it comes to non-toxic beauty that is also effective. And her product won me over. So I reached out and asked if she would be willing to talk to us about her company and she was so graciously said yes.

We live in era of followers. Instagram culture tells us you either have a following, or you are a follower. 10 years ago, this wasn’t a thing. Nobody cared how many people “followed” them, because nobody followed any one. Actually you would call the cops if someone was “following” you. If someone, who you didn’t know, found you on the internet and FOLLOWED you, you would get a restraining order. But then social media shows up on the scene with MySpace. With a way to create this little corner on the internet where you could post music, your pictures, connect with your friends etc. But there was a time, when worth wasn’t defined by numbers and likes. You know who liked you 10 years ago? The ones who hung out with you. The ones who called you. Who texted you. That’s who liked you. You know who liked your photos 10 years ago? The friends who came over, looked through your photo album and said “oh great photo”. That’s who. I don’t want to bash Instagram. I actually love Instagram. But I do want to touch on some misconceptions and give you a little perspective. To empower you. To set you free from the overwhelm of either “not having a following” or the overwhelm of having a following. So let’s break it down.

Today we have a very special guest as all of my guests are very special to me. This one in particular is very close to my heart because my guess today is going to be sharing some of the hardest things that she’s ever had to face and I will let her tell her story but I wanted to invite her on today because I think that there is so much healing that takes place for us when we tell our story and we watch how it impacts lives around us. The tragic things that we go through are hard enough. Sometimes those tragedies leave a permanent mark in our lives. We have no power to undo tragic events. But we do have the power to be able to use it to bring hope to the people around us with our story. So as she shares her story, my hope is that you the listener are able to find hope. Maybe find a piece of your healing. Encouragement that you’re not alone.

So I was on Instagram, watching a story of this lady busting up laughing about this guy who drives middle school carpool dressed up as different characters. So I followed him, watched all the saved highlights and laughed for days. I learned the story behind him starting this middle school carpool dress up gig, and how it was intended to bring joy to his daughter starting middle school who was a nervous wreck. I was so moved by that, because some of my best memories with my mom growing up were when we would have food fights in the middle of the living room. Her ability to laugh and be silly was so relieving. And here I was watching this middle aged man dress up in women’s clothing acting like an airline attendant, all to calm the nerves of his daughter. That’s true love right there. So I reached out to him to talk a little bit about anxiety, raising teens and dressing up. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did.

Do your kids give you a mile long list of toys they want for Christmas? As if you’re made of money? Then you buy them those gifts, only for them to be over those gifts in like 3 days? No? Just my kids? Cool.
🎄
Ever feel like Christmas gets robbed by all the stress and money you pour into buying gifts, the time you spend wrapping the gifts, cleaning up the wrapping of the gifts etc.? Well I say "forget that"!! There are no rules when it comes to celebrating Christmas. So I compiled a list of different ways you can give your children “gifts” without pieces that can mysteriously go missing. To buy back time with your family. Stress free. Intentional, quality, thought out time with those you love.

When people ask how… how do we still love each other? How are we still together? All the hows... my first thought always goes straight to 1 Corinthians 13. If you don’t read the Bible and don’t know that reference, it’s a chapter that describes what love looks like. Because I think that so many of us, myself included, have a fantasy idea that love is a feeling, it’s an emotion, it’s background music, butterflies in your stomach. It’s Jack and Kate on the front of Titanic. It’s the notebook. it’s Jack and Rebecca from This is Us. But no, that feeling isn’t love. Hate to break it to ya. Those are emotions. And emotions are cool too. They just aren’t love. Those are some of the aspects of what happens in the place of love, but love itself is an action. It’s a choice. It does something. It looks like something. It’s not invisible. It’s very much tangible. So listen in on my very personal opinion and outlook on what love look likes.

Marriage is the most beautiful covenant on the planet. It can also be the most heartbreaking, destructive, ugly thing that people can experience. I know firsthand both sides of the story. I've hit some pretty hard rock-bottoms in my life and yet, I’ve never known a redemption quite like this. So I share my story to bring Hope. To bring healing. To bring encouragement that redemption is at your fingertips. Your story may not look like mine. Your story may not have the same outcome as mine, but redemption is available for us all in some way. So I hope this story encourages you that if you’re still living in shame, freedom is available to you. I hope this story encourages you to listen to conviction. I hope this story encourages you to extend grace beyond measure.

October is mine and Dustin’s anniversary month. 13 years strong. So this whole month will be dedicated to all things marriage. The good, the bad and the ugly. Starting off with how confusing marriage was to me as I grew up. I spent my life being raised by my single mother, meanwhile spending a ton of time with super solid families. I watched marriages fall apart around me, and I watched marriages make it through the fire. In this episode I share how growing up shaped my perspective of marriage, and created a dysfunctional way of thinking. I've come along way in 13 years, and my perception is always changing. More filled with grace. And more filled with hope for you. Wherever you are at.

I had a listener ask- “how do you let other people, specifically Dustin and God, show up for you when you have shown up for yourself your whole life”? The question hit me hard because man, how did she know? It’s so true. I spent my whole life showing up for myself. And it was hard to let other people, including Dustin, show up for me. But I've come along way. And in this episode, I share that journey. I hope this episode inspires you to let others in to show up for you. And I hope it inspires you to be a helper. To show up for the people around you.

The last 3 months of the year happen to also be the 3 months that people spend the most amount of money and eat the most amount of junk. Is it possible, instead, to save the most amount of money and take the most amount of care for your body? Is it possible??? I don’t know if it is. But Naomi and I (Nomandra) and ready to find out. We sit down and talk about our struggles with saving money and getting healthy. And we challenge each other to really focus in on the last 3 months of the year to see if in the midst of the temptation, we can rise above. And finish out the year stronger than we started it.

Have you ever found yourself in a place in life that you have no desire to be in? Do you have unfulfilled dreams, hopelessness and a lack of peace? It’s so easy to let that hopelessness swallow you up whole. But I promise you, there’s always an open door. It’s never easy to find, but it’s always findable. Is "findable" even a word? It is now.
I sit down with one of my childhood best friends and we talk about the season of life when she found herself at her absolute lowest, and how she pulled herself out to pursue something she was passionate about. Life is never without hardship, but there’s always joy to be found. Listen in as we dive into how she turned her life around.

In a world filled with modern day conveniences, its easy to lose the character building that happens in the inconveniences. Isn’t that convenient? Or is it? Of course we all love how much easier life is with instant ability to send a message to someone on the other side of the world in seconds. To have your groceries instantly delivered to your door. 2 day shipping. Same day shipping. Instagram. Being able to post a photo of exactly what you’re doing the moment you are doing it. If we aren’t intentional about waiting, slowing down, choosing to be uncomfortable, we will find ourselves expecting instant everything. Growing in impatience and high levels of expectation. Listen in and get encouraged to wait a little. It’s good for you.

Money has the power to change or ruin lives. I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s true. How good you are with money has the power to free you or enslave you. I thought I was good with money until I realized... I wasn't good with money. Until I realized that money wasn’t freeing me, but keeping me bound by past money mistakes. I do what I can to live an intentional life. And money is one of those things that, to be honest, I haven’t been that intentional with. And that’s about to change. I’m ready to tackle the beast.
So I sit down with a dear friend who is wise and who is also tackling the financial beast in her own life. She shares her wisdom, how to get your mind right and what program she used to help with getting intentional with her money. Listen in, and I hope you are inspired to take control of your own finances and find freedom from the entrapment of poor spending.

The problem with regret is that it doesn’t actually change anything. It holds no power to change the past. What if there was a way to live without regret. Being so focused on living intentionally present, that we don’t let life happen TO us. But rather, we live from the place of doing everything we do on purpose. And, that even when things happen that are out of our control, or seem unfair, we can safely say we don’t regret the way our time is spent. It’s really freaking hard. But my goal is to pay more attention with how I can be more intentionally present. Giving my time to the things and people that matter most. Listen in as I share my heart on the topic.

In this episode, I’m talking about comparison. Body image. Self love. The whole shebang. I shed light on the reality that perfection doesn’t exists, therefore comparison is a vicious cycle with no end if we don’t put a stop to it. If we can’t be content with our own flaws, just as they are, then chasing an unrealistic image is only going to let us down time and time again. My hope with this episode is that you can be encouraged to love yourself, your whole self, flaws and all, right freaking now.

Someone recently asked me for my #1 tip for a new mom, and I had to rack my brain to come up with just 1. Dang motherhood is hard! Dang motherhood is rewarding! So many emotions all in between. I’m no motherhood expert. Like by a long shot. But if I had to look any new mother in the eyes and give her any words of advice, it would be these top 5 things. So grab a pen and paper a jot down the advice of a 3 time mom, who survived the first 3 years of all 3 kids. In fact 3 kids within 3 years. Yeah, i was that crazy!

I’m over here just trying to raise my kids to be solid human beings. To be good friends. To be good spouses. To be good parents. To always show love, respect, understanding, maturity, kindness and courage. I’m over here doing my very best to make sure I send my kids out into the world to make the world brighter. But I have to be honest, I’m scared for them to enter the dating world with the way things are going.
I have a front row seat to watch one of my best friends navigate this current dating world and all I’m gonna say is that I’m glad I’m married and I plan to stay married forever because this current dating situation is not for the weak. But that’s the world my kids are going to date in. So I sit down with my bff and we dissect what dating in this generation looks like. We talk about what we can do as parents to help shape the culture for the better. What can we do in our homes to help our kids navigate the deep waters of dating. Listen in. And brace yourself, it gets rowdy.

So no one likes a bully right? Especially a mom bully. Nobody deserves to be bullied. Nobody! Especially a mom. Moms are already hard enough on themselves. They don’t need mom shaming bullies to remind them of their faults. In this episode I speak to whoever is listening and just encourage you to pay attention to your words, your looks, your comments etc. I encourage you to step up and be a helper instead of a mocker. I speak to the mom. I tell her that incase no one has told her yet..., she is doing a dang good job. So listen up. And vow to be a part of the nice mom club.

If you’re a mom, any kind of mom, this episode is for you. Because I haven’t met a single mom on the planet who has not struggled with one form or another of mom guilt. And it shatters my heart. Because we are doing the most incredible job on the planet. The most sacrificial, under-appreciated, all consuming job. And until you’re a mother, you just have no grid for the level of giving that a mother does on a daily basis. Most of the time it’s an hourly basis. Around the clock. Literally during some seasons it’s around the clock. So in this episode I want to speak directly to the mother’s heart, and try in any way, to dissolve the mom guilt that might be lingering. Is it something we will always struggle with? Probably. But the more mom guilt that we can overcome, the more joy we can find in our motherhood.

In this episode I talk about my thoughts, my heart, and my opinion about self-care. Self-care has blown up in the last few years. And ultimately I think it’s a good thing! However I rarely see self-care described as much more than a bubble bath and a mud mask. So I just wanted to open up the conversation about some other ways you could be taking care of yourself that may not look as relaxing.

Do you ever feel like an entire 24 hours goes by and you feel like you got nothing done? That is the story of my life every day. And yet I’m so dang busy, and yet I get nothing done. It’s easy for me to procrastinate, and then get overwhelmed about the things I procrastinated on, which just furthers the cycle of procrastination. Until I happened upon a good ol' fashion 10 minute timer. Setting a 10 minute timer has been life-changing for me and so many people who follow me on Instagram and who have implemented this method in their life. It’s crazy what just 10 minutes can do, when it’s a focused 10 minutes of on interrupted, undistracted time. In this episode I give my top 10 ways that I implement a 10 minute timer. Try it. I dare you. And if you try it, make sure you let me know by tagging me in insta!

Have you ever felt unqualified? Ya me too. Have you ever felt unqualified to do something that you knew you wanted to do and were called to do? Ya, me too. But the question is, what qualifies us? Like who gets to decide if you're qualified? Sure, I guess if you want to be a surgeon, then you should be qualified. Lol. But what about following your dreams, or being influential, or being a good mom, or being a good friend? Like, who gets to qualify you? In this episode I share my heart on doing things before you feel perfect at it. Doing things even when you suck. Just showing up to pursue the things that are on the heart, even in the midst of imperfection. I hope you feel inspired. I hope you feel worthy. I hope you feel qualified to wildly pursue your dreams and the people you love.

We all have a dream. Some of us have massive audacious dreams. Some of us have “small” dreams. Well I’m here to tell you that every single flippin dream is worth fighting for. If you don’t fight for your dreams, then life will just happen to you. Because the clock doesn’t stop ticking. Are you fighting for your dreams? Are you pursuing the things that you really want to be doing? Are you living out your full potential? In this episode, I talk about a few dreams that me and my husband Dustin have had that we had to fight really freakin hard to reach. Nothing in this life comes for free. Everything has to be earned. But there is sooo much beauty in the earning. In the fighting. So many lessons learned. So much hope stirred up. So much testing. Always worth it. I hope this episode encourages you look deep within your soul, and ask yourself the question, “am I living my dream?”

In this episode I talk about where I've come from. Just a glimpse into my childhood, how I was raised, family structure etc. I love hearing people’s stories. And this is just a quick version of mine. Just a sneak peek of what I've gone through as a kid to help shape me into the human being I am today. I believe that our stories have the power to shape us. For better or for worse. This isn’t to glorify my hardship or to assume I've lived the hardest life. It’s just simply a testimony of what I've done with what I've been given.
What hardships from your past are waiting to be turned to gold? What circumstances have been keeping you bound? Do you believe freedom is available? I hope that this story can shed light, inspire hope, and encourage you that your circumstances have no power over you today, but rather you have the power to live in freedom despite your circumstances

In this episode, I introduce my family! Family is everything. I love hearing about people’s families, how different they all are, and how they all survive together. We are all born with these personalities that make us unique, which means raising 3 unique people can be down right hard! I encourage the Mom struggling to believe she has what it takes to raise these wild littles. My hope is that as you learn a little more about my family, that you would feel connected and believe that you too, have what it takes to mother well!
