According to the International Labor Association, as many as 50 million people are victimized in slavery today, and 12 million are children. They are enslaved and trafficked for labor, sex, organ removal, or forced marriage. Human trafficking is the second most profitable organized crime in the world, generating around $236 billion annually. Many organizations, including YWAM, seek to rescue victims of trafficking, and to prevent their exploitation in the first place (Luke 4:18-21). Please take a moment to pray about human trafficking right now, and also pray with us on the September 12 prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for more awareness of the realities of human trafficking and exploitation around the world. For example, buying a cheap tee-shirt may support a child-labor factory, and consuming pornography supports sexual exploitation. (See www.exoduscry.com to learn more.)
  2. Pray for initiatives that inform and support people vulnerable to being trafficked. Awareness, education, resources, and support are needed in vulnerable communities.
  3. Pray for effective outreach and intervention initiatives. For example, many YWAM teams have outreaches in red-light districts, at strip clubs, and farms. They also do online outreaches. Pray for their safety and discernment, and pray for those they encounter to find freedom.
  4. Pray for the rehabilitation of those who have escaped exploitation and trafficking. Many trafficking survivors have mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, or borderline personality disorder. Also pray specifically for the YWAM-affiliated safe home, S-Cape, in Cape Town, South Africa.
  5. Policy and research. Pray for brave and godly politicians to stand up for justice and say no to corruption and personal gain. A large policy initiative going on at the moment is regulating the porn industry in the United States and Europe. They are asking organizations addressing lawmakers and politicians to bring age-verification laws to porn websites in an attempt to protect children from porn exposure. Please pray for groundbreaking initiatives started by Christians to continue to flourish and make a radical impact on governments and media.

  1. Research what’s happening with human trafficking in your community, and support local ministries, initiatives, and nonprofits.
  2. Pray for and support YWAM intervention and aftercare ministries: Beloved1 in Wylie, Texas, USA; S-Cape in Cape Town, South Africa; Unstoppable Love in Bali, Indonesia.

YWAM Together Manila 2024 will be an epic time as our global community gathers before Jesus as one family. Already by the end of June, 150 nationalities had registered for Manila 2024, speaking more than 70 languages and coming from more than 500 YWAM locations. There is great historical significance in this YWAM family gathering. YWAM’s founder, Loren Cunningham, “graduated” to glory last October, leaving a huge spiritual inheritance for us and the whole body of Christ. It has been a tender time for us in YWAM and a key moment in our journey. We are in a season of transition, similar to that in the book of Joshua. The coordinators of this event sense God emphasizing the book of Joshua for YWAMers to reflect on, and in particular this verse: “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you” (Joshua 3:5). Please take a moment to pray for YWAM Together Manila 2024 right now, and please also pray with us on the August 8 prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for each person and family coming, for release of provision, favour with visas, good health, safe travel, and protection.
  2. Pray for our YWAM Philippines family and the wider Filipino body of Christ, that as hosts they would be deeply encouraged, strengthened and blessed through this global gathering in their nation.
  3. Pray with us for a deep work of the Holy Spirit in our midst in Manila and consecration to the Lord, resulting in even greater depths of love and unity among us.
  4. Pray for God to give a fresh revelation to each person attending, giving them refreshment, courage and understanding of the specific role and task that God has for them in seeing the fulfilment of the Great Commission.
  5. Pray for the clear word of the Lord to come to us as the YWAM family as we move together into the future in deep unity and with clarity of vision together.

As the 2024 Paris Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11) draw near, YWAM’s teams in Paris ask for your prayers. Many YWAM teams will come to Paris to share the message of Jesus with visitors from many nations. YWAM missionaries in Paris report seeing more openness, salvations, healings, and fruitfulness in their city than ever before. According to one YWAMer, “Paris seems ready for an incredible move of God.” A century ago, during the previous 1924 Olympics in Paris, Olympian Eric Liddell chose not to compete in the 100-meter run because the race was scheduled on a Sunday. Although it was his strongest event, he held to his conviction. Many have been inspired by his devotion. Please join us in prayer that people will remember moves of God at the 2024 Olympics, not just the medals.   1. Pray for gospel impact. Pray that we can share the message of Jesus with visitors from every nation represented in Paris during the Olympics and that the fruit may multiply in individuals’ home nations. Also pray that the Word bears fruit in many hearts and minds.
  2. Pray for safety. Pray that no threats of terrorism would come to fruition and that no act of violence or destruction would take place. Also pray that every person would be safe during the games.
  3. Pray for youth empowerment. Ask Jesus that during this time young people will boldly share the radical love of Jesus with others. Pray that youth would be on fire for the Lord and would have a growing passion for missions.
  4. Pray for church unity and collaboration. Pray for greater unity among French and international churches, that they would work together in collaborative projects that serve the city of Paris and the nations with the love of Jesus.
  5. Pray for city-wide impact. YWAM Paris Connect hopes to impact all areas of Parisian society strategically with the gospel of Jesus, promoting change and transformation through service and compassion.

YWAM in Pakistan, numbering more than 100 workers, brings discipleship to a persecuted church, and practical assistance to those struggling with poverty and natural disasters. They work in a country that is 96 percent Muslim, with the second highest population of Muslims in the world, after Indonesia. Please take a moment to pray for Pakistan right now, and also pray with us on June 13, the prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for the church in Pakistan. Pray for provision: many members are very poor, holding jobs such as street sweepers or workers in brick factories. Pray for protection: many face discrimination, persecution, and the threat of legal action against them. Pray for multiplication: pray for the Lord to raise up believers to share the gospel and influence society.
  2. Pray for ministry among the unreached. Joshua Project says there are 236 million unreached people in Pakistan. Pray for Bible translation. Pray for fruitful partnerships among the unreached.
  3. Pray for YWAM’s Discipleship Training School. Churches have been planted in different parts of the country through Discipleship Training School (DTS) graduates and YWAM staff. Through DTS, YWAM Pakistan hopes to train and equip 30 Pakistani young men and women from across the country each year. They also hope to add DTS programs with a special focus, such as the Tribal DTS.
  4. Pray for YWAM’s training and mercy ministry. Currently YWAM Pakistan is involved in community development, sewing centers, elementary schools, women’s seminars, outreaches, sports ministry, and children’s ministry.They also currently run a School of Worship and hope to add the School of Biblical Studies, School of Frontier Mission, and other training programs. Prayer and financial support are needed.

Darlene and team (Giacomo Coghi, Garth Gustafson, David Hamilton and others) have completed the final leg of the Americas Tour, where several thousand YWAM leaders and staff gathered at the events in Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, USA and Brazil. Dar shares that these times with the YWAM family have far exceeded her hopes and expectations as each gathering celebrated Loren’s life and reflected on YWAM’s true leader, Jesus. There have been amazing moves of God’s Spirit among those who attended, and great excitement and anticipation for the bright future God has for YWAM.   1. The first prayer point is praise and thanksgiving! As you may know, Darlene was quite ill for several months following Loren’s graduation. Barely out of the woods from pneumonia–the final ailment that threatened to keep her home–she set out on this Legacy Tour in faith that God would heal and energize her. Thanks to your prayers and His response, she has been wonderfully sustained “on the road,” as she seeks to do the things God asks her to do, and take the rest she needs, leaving some parts for other team members to do. Pray for continued strength and wisdom for Darlene.
  2. Upcoming Cunningham Legacy events are posted on LorenCunningham.com in the “New” section. 2024 includes Central Asia, Norway, Mongolia, South Korea, South Africa, Nigeria and New Zealand. More events are shaping up for 2025. Please pray for each of these events, for fresh words of the Lord to emerge for the thriving future God has for YWAM and for new young leaders to be called and say “Yes.”
  3. Continue to pray for those impacted by the Tanzania tragedy and the fatal car crash last year in Brazil. Honoring these fallen heroes has been a focus of each Legacy Event, sending out a “Macedonian Call” for others to rise up and fill the space their departures created. Pray that God will accomplish the victory He has in His heart to do, to redeem what the enemy intended for evil and defeat.

Sri Lanka is a beautiful island nation just off the southern tip of India whose 22 million inhabitants have been through a lot: decades of ethnic tension and civil war, a devastating tsunami, Islamist terror attacks in 2020, and a major economic and political crisis in 2022. The people of Sri Lanka need your prayer and support! Please take a moment to pray for Sri Lanka right now, and please also join us on the April 11th prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for the many families, widows and orphans in Sri Lanka who suffer in severe poverty. They live in underserved neighborhoods and have only dirty well water to drink. Without sufficient schooling, thousands of children face a difficult future. Pray for YWAM workers and other Christians around the island to join hands to meet the physical, educational and spiritual needs of Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims.
  2. Pray for more drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs and facilities, especially in the Tamil-speaking parts of the country. Among young Sri Lankans alcoholism and drug addiction are widespread, resulting in an increase of crime and suicide.
  3. Pray for ministries to train counselors. Often Sri Lankans who suffer the affects of domestic violence or child abuse cannot get mental health services. Please pray for Christian ministries that will train believers and social workers to counsel effectively and to promote inner healing.
  4. Pray for national reconciliation. Though the civil war ended 15 years ago, tensions and mistrust remain among the ethnic groups of Sri Lanka. Join us in prayer for deeper reconciliation, mutual understanding, justice and equality among the Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims in Sri Lanka.
  5. Please pray for YWAM in Sri Lanka to take root, grow and bear fruit that will give glory to our Father in heaven. Please pray for YWAM to launch training programs such as schools of counseling, School of Biblical Studies, and School of Worship. Pray for young people to bring light into every sphere of society. Also pray for the church of Jesus Christ to grow and shine in this nation.

According to YWAM’s Deaf World ministry, the 70 million Deaf individuals worldwide constitute one of the largest unreached people groups. They form unique cultures, which YWAM Deaf World recognizes by capitalizing the word “Deaf.” There are more than 300 sign languages worldwide, and only one of those has a complete video Bible translation. According to YWAM Deaf World, only an estimated two percent of the Deaf have embraced Christianity. Please take a moment right now to pray for the Deaf, and please also pray with us on March 14th, the prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for the ongoing work of Bible sign language translation. The American Sign Language Version is the only complete Bible available in video format. There are about 80 translation projects in different stages of development all over the world. More people passionate about the Bible and highly skilled in those sign languages are needed.
  2. Pray for YWAM Deaf World, a new ministry and resource to expand YWAM Deaf ministries worldwide. The purpose is to raise up the Deaf and those fluent in sign language to become missionaries by equipping them for success to reach Deaf people groups worldwide. Pray for more staff and finances to provide training and support to those in YWAM locations working with the Deaf and those wanting to get started.
  3. Pray for the multiplication of Deaf Discipleship Training School students and staff around the world. The most effective way to reach the Deaf world is by sending Deaf missionaries as passionate lovers of Jesus, but they first need to be ignited, discipled, and supported. We need more fluent signers to train more leaders.
  4. Pray for unity and collaboration among Christian organizations working to reach the Deaf. The amount of collaboration is growing fast. The different approaches, styles, and strategies among organizations can make partnerships challenging, but the Holy Spirit is breaking down barriers and making a way.

The global YWAM family will gather in Manila from September 3-6, and the organizing team invites every YWAMer, across all ministries, communities, locations, and campuses, to prepare. Please set aside the third week of each month from February to September for corporate prayer and fasting. We acknowledge the significance of this time in history. Our founder and spiritual father, Loren Cunningham, has transitioned to glory. At the same time, YWAM is strategically positioned to catalyze a historic move of God. In support of this global YWAM family prayer initiative, we will share a brief video every month to inspire unified, corporate prayer for the nations, the mission, and the body of Christ. The first video comes from Andy Byrd of YWAM Kona. Please join us on February 8, the prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation, and please pray with us during the third week of each month.

  1. Pray for YWAM Together Manila 2024. From September 3-6, the whole YWAM Global family will be gathering as staff and students for the first time since 2018. Please pray that as many staff and students as possible would join us and that it would be a catalytic time for our mission.
  2. Pray for YWAM in this season. As you listen to the launch video from Andy Byrd and hear about the importance of the tender season that we are in with Loren’s passing, please pray that we would not miss out on anything God has for YWAM as we go forward.
  3. The global body of Christ. As we are living in such a critical time, please pray in YWAM we would be key catalyzers and unifiers in the whole body of Christ to see this generation turn to God in a new and world-changing way.
  4. A fresh youth movement. As God birthed YWAM through the vision of the waves of young people going from every nation to every nation, please pray for a fresh release of a new wave of workers in this generation, starting with Gen Z and beyond.

  1. Contact your supporters and friends and ask them to intercede and fast during the third week of every month, January through September. Below there are short summaries for both videos but we recommend you watch them.
  2. First video: Andy Byrd of YWAM Kona speaks of a tender season of reflection he senses in YWAM after the passing of our founder, Loren Cunningham. Andy says this is a window of opportunity for God to test our thoughts (Psalm 139), for us to make things right with each other (Matt 5:24), for a spirit of revelation to land in our hearts (Eph 1:17-18), and for us to gain fresh vision and clarity, so we can run into fruitfulness (Hab 2:2). Andy also has been reminded of Joy Dawson’s words to him over the phone right before her passing in 2022. She was concerned that YWAM’s leaders not lose the passion for intercession, and she wanted Andy to pass this message on to as many leaders as possible. Andy said he and other leaders don’t want the place of intercession to grow weak in YWAM. Maybe we are not as covered as we should be. Maybe we are more vulnerable than we realize. Andy challenged YWAMers to be like Bartimaeus who cried out to God for the breakthrough he knew Jesus could give him. Andy urged YWAMers to be the presence-centered people God has always called us to be, for leaders to not grow so busy that they don’t close the door and cry out to the Father, for locations and families to re-prioritize and rekindle a hunger for a worship and prayer lifestyle. He encouraged every location to set aside the third week of each month leading up to September for united prayer. He said “I’m excited for these months ahead of us and excited to be together in Manila.”
  3. Second video: Darlene began by thanking everyone for all the care she has received. She said she misses Loren, chatting with him. In the decisions, they went to Jesus together, which she can still do. She wants that for all of us in YWAM too. In his video, Andy said this is a time of tenderness. Darlene reflected on that word. She said we were formed in YWAM on the word of the Lord. That’s what Loren’s book, Is That Really You God, focused on. What is in our DTS curriculum: how to hear the voice of the Lord. Darlene recalled the early days in YWAM. They prayed for the nations every day. She asked, “What was the word of the Lord that brought you to the place where you are?” We must always depend on the voice of the Lord. In those first years, they would wait on the Lord, and they would go to each other and make things right. God wants to speak to us. Jesus said, I don’t do anything on my own, I hear from my Father. How much more ourselves? Resist the enemy. Seek a clean heart. Darlene said, as we prepare our hearts to go together to the Philippines, this will be our first gathering in six years. Ask if God wants you to go to the Philippines. I believe God wants to speak to us when we are all gathered. I look forward to seeing you in person. Pray, intercede, walk in unity together, and just see what remarkable things God is going to do in the future.

Please pray for Bible translation this month, the passion of YWAM’s founder Loren Cunningham, who died in October of 2023. Thousands of languages, spoken by hundreds of millions of people, still do not have a Bible. The goal of the Oral Mother Tongue (OMT) approach is that the Bible be accurately and clearly translated by mother-tongue speakers into their languages. This can be accomplished in as little as two years. Since launching OMT in May 2023, YWAM Nigeria alone has finished 30 translations that have been received with joy by churches, who testify to their accuracy. YWAM Uganda asks for prayer as they reach out to an ethnic group in the northeast of their country. The Karamojong (also spelled Karimojong) number nearly one million. Cattle are their main livelihood and there are often violent cattle raids among three neighboring tribes: the Acholi, Lango and Iteso. The increase in modern firearms has increased the death toll, and there is a growing number of widows. According to data from the Joshua project, the Karamojong is about 30 percent Christian, with about two percent Evangelical. Other Karamojong follow various ethnic religions. YWAM Uganda is starting an outreach center in the midst of the Karamojong and is reaching out through medical care and short-term teams. Please pray for the Karamojong people by taking a few minutes right now, and please also pray with us on December 14, our prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for an increase in Christians among the Karamojong. Pray for courage and boldness for those who are already followers of Christ to share their faith with others. Pray also for hearts to be softened and open to hearing the good news.
  2. Pray for the YWAM presence in Uganda. There are currently six different YWAM locations in Uganda. Please pray for an increase in staff, resources and financial provision for these ministry centers.
  3. Pray specifically for the YWAM Soroti, Uganda location. YWAM Soroti is pioneering a new YWAM location in Kaabong, a town in the midst of the Karamojong people. YWAM workers are helping to feed the patients at the local hospital. This enables families to stay with their sick family members there. Pray that this ministry will lead to more opportunities to share the gospel at the hospital. The Soroti location also runs a Discipleship Training School which is doing its outreach among the Karamojong people. Please pray for their safety and for God to use them to bring hope to the people.
  4. Pray for those who are ill. In general, care for the sick is lacking. Most family members drop their sick family members off to the hospital and then leave. Please pray for an increase in care for the sick, both in terms of resources and ability for families to stay with their loved ones.
  5. Pray for their crops to thrive. The rainy season is short where the Karamojong people live and it is a very hot and dry environment. Pray for enough rain for their crops to mature.

In the midst of a fierce civil war in north Sudan, a YWAM team of nearly 30 Sudanese staff continue to live and serve. Before the war, which began in April 2023, most lived in and around the capital. All of these staff have moved themselves and their families to safer areas of the country. They continue to look for opportunities to serve in the midst of the war, hosting “revival” meetings in their new locations, gathering women together to encourage them and looking for opportunities for mercy ministry. Please take a moment right now to pray for the people of Sudan and the YWAM team there, and please also pray with us on November 9, our monthly prayer day for the prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for provision of food, water and medicine for the Sudanese people. Very little international aid has made it into the country due to the fighting and instability. The Sudanese people, including the YWAM team, are struggling to find their daily needs of food, water and medicine.
  2. Pray for ministry to happen in the midst of the war. YWAMers and other Christians carry the good news with them as they are displaced. Many Sudanese Christians have found themselves in remote areas, living among unreached tribes. There is an openness to the gospel and we are hearing testimonies of evangelism and discipleship.
  3. Pray for plans for mercy ministry. YWAM has been involved in mercy ministry in Sudan for the last 20 years. They are now looking for ways to distribute blankets to the displaced as the weather is getting colder in the displaced areas.
  4. Pray for the peace of the country. Both the government army (SAF) and the militia (RSF) have committed atrocities during the fighting in the last six months. Most Sudanese people are not sure who could return their country to peace. Pray for the plans of Satan to steal, kill and destroy to be frustrated. Pray for peacemakers to be raised up in the country.

In the Pacific lie 936 isolated islands with no airports or regular ferry services. How can we reach all of the people on those islands? Even with YWAM’s 27 vessels worldwide, we can’t get to everyone. YWAM’s new Flotilla ministry partners with private yacht owners to reach isolated areas, thus opening more opportunities to reach the most remote islanders, people loved by God. Please take a moment now to pray for these isolated islands. Please also pray with us on October 12, our prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for French Polynesia. Sixteen isolated islands in the Tuamotu group have no airport. We have two yachts reaching them this year. Pray for more access to become available.
    • Operation Christmas Child. Pray for continued partnering with this organization so every child may know God’s love for them.
    • Oral Mother Tongues. There are nine known mother tongues in this region, but we are told there are many more. Pray that everyone can have the Bible in their language.
    • Community assessments. Pray for deep connections with the local people as we dream about God’s heart for each community.
    • Translation. Pray for French speakers to have a heart to help local people to translate.
  2. Pray for Southeast Asia. In parts of Asia, islands with fewer than 500 people are considered uninhabited. God sees every person and has plans and purposes for their lives.
  3. Pray for new locations. Flotilla yachts are either already active or planning ministry in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Solomon Islands and Fiji. Pray for more groups of ministries to partner together.
  4. Pray for Christian yacht owners. Pray for more to answer the call of the Great Commission, because there are many more isolated places to reach.

The first YWAM global gathering of leaders since 2014 is taking place this year in Chiang Mai, Thailand from September 14 to 18. At least 650 leaders will attend. God has always led us in major leadership gatherings and we are expecting Him to do this again. Please pray for a deep and powerful move of the Holy Spirit among us. Haiti, the poorest nation on the American continent, is now suffering through a time of tremendous governmental instability and crime. Health and safety are daily concerns for everyone. Though Haiti’s schooled population is 56 percent, more than 67 percent earns less than one dollar per day. In the midst of the challenges, YWAM and other ministries continue to meet practical needs as well as to teach biblical principles. Please take a moment right now to pray for Haiti and please also pray with us on June 8, our prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for provision of basic needs for life. Pray for steady gas, clean water and an affordable cost of living. Steady gas is one of the most problematic issues. When gas stops getting through many services and commercial activities shut down (banks, food and water supply, transportation, internet, etc). Clean water to drink and for daily purposes is difficult to find and expensive. This is causing many health concerns and illness occurring rapidly.
  2. Pray for the government, leaders and safety. The government has a lot of corruption that ends up limiting its ability to meet the country’s needs. The gangs are gaining control and influence in the country, especially in the capital, Port Au Prince. Pray that main roads become safer to travel.
  3. Pray for rain. Recently there have been many forest fires starting in the mountain areas due to lack of rain.
  4. Pray for spiritual breakthroughs. In Haiti,Christianity is distorted by syncretism from African beliefs, especially voodoo. Though 90 percent of the population states a Christian faith, it’s very common that churches practice or allow witchcraft rituals or Santeria (an African religion). You will sadly find some Christian people going to church then after to see the voodoo priest. It is said of Haiti’s history that when the nation was breaking free from slavery they made a pact with the Devil dedicating the land to him. Whether or not this is true or rumored, the spiritual warfare is real in Haiti. Pray for the light in God’s people to shine brighter than the darkness in Haiti and the spirit of fear over the country to be replaced with God’s love (1 John 4:18, Acts 26:18).
  5. Pray for the Bible to be taught accurately in churches. Pray for followers of Jesus to be like the Bereans and search the scriptures daily (Acts 17:11).Also pray for church leaders and pastors to have a strong commitment to God and to live in a Bible-oriented manner (Luke 8:16-17).
  6. Pray for ministries and YWAM. YWAM has several ministry centers actively meeting needs in Haiti. Overall, many ministries have left the country, though many others still remain and are working diligently for the Lord. Street outreaches are done with caution because of gangs. Pray for safety, health, protection for God missionaries; wisdom and discernment for mission leaders; unity among missionaries. Pray for the church and those who love Christ to live out the Great Commission and not let fear stop them (Matthew 28:19-20).

We have an opportunity to share the gospel with Israeli travelers in New Zealand and in other travel destinations throughout the world. These young adults, both men and women, serve two-to-three years in the military. Then they are encouraged to get out of Israel and have a break. Many thousands of young Israelis go to India, Japan, Nepal, Thailand and other parts of Asia and the Pacific for the drugs, parties and spiritual experiences. Many Israelis also come to New Zealand for the beauty and hiking. We see their searching hearts and want to introduce them to Yeshua (Jesus) while they are traveling. Please take a moment right now to pray for Israeli backpackers and please also pray with us on May 11, our prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for volunteers in ministries that reach out to Israeli travelers. Please pray they will be Spirit led, wise and loving as they share the gospel with Israeli travelers.
  2. Pray for the two Celebrate Messiah facilities in Wanaka and Punakaiki (New Zealand). Please pray that these will be places that Israeli guests feel safe, welcome and loved.
  3. Pray for open hearts. Most of the Israelis that travel along the backpacker trail are secular and agnostic. Many are spiritually searching and some meet Jesus while they are traveling. Please pray for the veil to be removed and that they become open to hear about God.
  4. Pray for personal encounters with the God of the Bible. Ministries to Israeli backpackers give out a lot of Hebrew New Testaments, testimonies, booklets, etc. Please pray that God’s Word and personal stories will touch their hearts, and that they will have their own personal encounter with the God of the Bible, both Old and New Testament.
  5. Pray for local non-Western churches and pastors to open up their hearts and lives to Israeli travelers. They can learn from one another in the context of travel and hospitality. Please pray for Israelis to experience faith in Jesus in a non-Western context. Also pray for the churches to meet people from the land of the Bible and learn about their culture.
  6. Pray for new locations. New guest houses, cafes and homes that have opened up across Asia in the last couple years in faith are now being frequented as Covid travel restrictions have lessened. There is an influx of travel happening right now, and anticipation for the Lord to meet people exactly where they are at, just like He always has. Please pray that these new locations will continue to flourish.

Hong Kong is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, drawing people from all around the world with its unique combination of Asian and Western culture. However, of the 7.6 million people living in this bustling city, only 13 percent profess to be Christian and there are 10 unreached people groups residing there. Hong Kong is now in a “Kairos” time when the need for missionaries to spread the good news is vital for its future. Hong Kong has opened its doors to the world again after a difficult time over the pandemic and other issues, but unlike never before Hong Kong is ready for the gospel! There are many opportunities for individuals and teams to come serve. Please take a moment right now to pray for Hong Kong and please also pray with us on April 13, our prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.1. The Time is Now: Long promoted as “Asia’s World City” and “The Gateway to China,” Hong Kong is now open again to the world. Please pray with us and ask the Lord to put Hong Kong on people’s hearts, and for people to consider coming or sending groups to share the love of Christ in this city. 2. Children and Youth: The experiences of some challenging years have had a detrimental effect on children and youth in Hong Kong. There is an emerging group of non-engaged youth in social withdrawal, who are slowly losing their social skills and as a result, find it difficult to enter the competitive world of education or employment. It is these “unseen” youth that need social interaction and a support network. Many from poorer backgrounds feel trapped in an intergenerational cycle of poverty, as they see their parents unable to provide daily essentials and school supplies. Please pray against hopelessness, addictions and suicide among this group, for they are the future of Hong Kong. 3. Church Togetherness: Some recent events have tarnished the closer ties and efforts of churches to work together. Pray that the churches of Hong Kong (both local and international) would continue to set aside differences and cooperate in unity to make a positive impact and contribution to society. Please pray that they would be filled with generous hearts that overflow with love and care for people in need. May they unashamedly proclaim the love of Christ over the Hong Kong people groups. 4. Financial Security: Hong Kong has some of the highest wealth inequality among developed economies. With an ageing population, low wages and being one of the world’s least affordable housing markets, skyrocketing home prices have played a significant role in making it hard to get by. Add into the mix the fact that many people of low income suddenly found themselves either unemployed or working with reduced hours and pay as the city fought Covid-19. The wealthiest in Hong Kong during the global pandemic fared well however earning about 47 times that of the poorest. Please pray for existing and new initiatives that reach the poor and for greater awareness in all spheres of society to alleviate poverty and income disparity.

Just under 700,000 Kanuri Manga people live in the east of Niger and far northeast of Nigeria. Most of them are farmers, growing mostly grain crops in a harsh environment as well as raising sheep, goats and the horses which are a symbol of prestige. The Kanuri Manga are Sunni Muslims, with no known Christians among them. Today the Kanuri Manga face great physical and spiritual needs. Their climate causes famine to return for a season every year. The local terrorist group, Boko Haram, has recruited some of their people and killed others, causing many to flee to refugee camps. Please join with the YWAM prayer initiative called The Invitation as we pray for the Kanuri Manga. Please pray right now and on our prayer day, March 9.

  1. Pray for blessings on the Kanuri Manga, that God’s kingdom will reach them in all its fullness and bless them in spirit, soul, and body. Pray for good rains, and an end to famine and poverty (Matthew 5:44-45).
  2. Pray that God will bring an end to violence, and that there will be reconciliation among the people of this region.
  3. Pray for more Christians in this area to be bold in sharing their faith and for more efforts to share the gospel among them (Proverbs 1:7).

Suggestions for Group or Individual Prayer

The Kanuri are fond of using proverbs, developed to teach life lessons. Reflect on these sayings or break into groups and each discuss one. To what extent do you agree with the proverb? If so, how have you seen this truth in your life?

  • “He who does not know the road holds back even the one who does.”

Teen suicide is an ongoing issue worldwide and one that has continued to get worse in some countries in the last few years. A recent survey done by a school in the USA gives a glimpse of how prevalent this issue is at the moment. They found that 32 percent of the students said they knew someone who has attempted or died from suicide in the past twelve months, 28 percent said they had seriously considered suicide in the past twelve months, 21 percent said they had made a suicide plan in the past twelve months and 11 percent said they had attempted suicide in the past twelve months. According to a recent study done by the Office for National Statistics, suicide rates among young people aged 15-19 in England rose by 35% from 2020 to 2021. In 2020, Russia had the highest suicide rate in the world, according to the World Health Organization’s suicide rate estimates. Please take a moment right now to pray against teen suicide and please also pray with us on February 9, our prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray against the rise of bullying, both in person and online. Please pray that those in positions to stop bullying would have open eyes and an increased sensitivity to know when bullying is taking place. Also pray for miraculous protection online, that comments sent by those seeking to bully others would fail to send or not load when they do.
  2. Pray for discernment for teachers, school counselors, youth group leaders, and parents. Part of the issue with suicide is simply a lack of awareness or the knowledge of how to deal with it. Please pray for more adults in positions of leadership to learn how to recognize vulnerable teens and to be able to respond with wisdom and compassion.
  3. Pray for resources and programs to be created that will assist families in addressing the issues of identity and self worth for vulnerable teens. Suicide is societal, a mental health problem, compounded by chemical and spiritual components. Please pray that although this is a huge issue to tackle, people wouldn’t turn a blind eye to this.

There is no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted much of our world but one area impacted in particular has been the attendance of in-person churchgoers. According to a 2022 Pew Research study, 33% of people in the USA who used to attend church regularly before the pandemic have not returned to in-person services after the pandemic. We are seeing similar effects in other countries as well. Whether it is fear of returning to in-person meetings or that people got used to either not attending church or only attending virtually, a lot of churches are seeing a big drop in numbers. As a result, some may have to close their doors permanently. Please take a moment right now to pray for a fresh revival in the church and please also pray with us on January 12, our prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for God to raise up more church leaders. According to surveys done by several denominations, many churches are experiencing a shortage of pastors. As an example, in Scotland, many churches all over the country are needing to combine and sell their buildings because there aren’t enough ministers to lead the congregations. Please pray for provision for churches to keep their buildings and that God would stir the hearts of more young people to train as ministers and pastors so that these next generations would have well trained, godly leaders.
  2. Pray for continued growth in community outreach. One of the good things to come out of the pandemic has been that the church in general increased their involvement in their communities. And particularly for YWAM, it shifted our perspective on missions and gave us the opportunity to partner more with the local church because international travel was so limited. Please pray that just because travel restrictions have been lifted now, that won’t stop the local outreaches from taking place.
  3. Pray for those who have not returned to church. Fellowship with other Christians is so important but we don’t just want to see a change in attendance, we want to see the church passionate about God and pursuing Him wholeheartedly. Please pray for those who are no longer attending church and have not returned since the lockdowns have lifted, whether that’s due to fear or other reasons. And please pray that churches worldwide would experience a fresh revival in this new year.

In Genesis God created mankind to “Abad” and “Shamar” all of creation. These terms in Hebrew can be interpreted in many ways but when used together mean to serve and take great care over. It is also the role that the priests are given in the Old Testament for the nation of Israel, to represent God to those they are looking after but also represent those they are looking after to God. How are we representing God to all of creation and how are we representing all of creation to God? Please take a moment to pray for creation right now as it is part of our God-given responsibility and please also pray with us on December 8, our prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

  1. Pray for restoration of biodiversity in areas where there has been great loss. Rich biodiversity is vital for the natural God-created systems on earth to function well. Without this variety of life, areas that would otherwise have been very productive become barren deserts. This in turn leads to the suffering of the people who rely on these areas for their livelihood and food. Please pray for the communities that have been negatively impacted by the loss of biodiversity.
  2. Pray for the countries being impacted by plastic waste. While plastic has been an amazing innovation, it also takes hundreds to thousands of years to degrade and can end up in our food and water. According to a report from the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) in Feb 2022,plastic consumption has quadrupled over the last 30 years. All around the world plastic is being burned, releasing harmful gasses, blocking drains and causing floods or being washed into the oceans via riverways, causing harm to fish and other aquatic life that people rely on for food. Pray for continued innovative ways for us to step away from plastic, especially single-use plastic. Please also pray for the funding to scale up these pioneering biodegradable methods.
  3. Pray for those in the world that are experiencing unusual weather extremes. We can see this in Nigeria’s extreme flooding, Europe’s low rainfall, fires and floods, East Africa’s two-year drought and India and Pakistan’s very long heat wave this year – plus many other regions. These people need relief and rebuilding. Please pray for YWAM’s ongoing pioneering efforts to provide aid. Please also pray for ways to reduce the levels of climate pollution that continue to make these things worse. In addition, please pray for more God-centered solutions to provide nutritious food for all people.

Take Action1. Create a pollinator-friendly area in your location to benefit the local pollinating insect populations. This can be planting pots of native wildflowers or allowing an area of grass to grow long and not mow it through your growing season to give the insects a rich feeding area. 2. Look at changing your light bulbs to LED bulbs if you have not already. They consume much less power, both saving money and reducing the amount of excess gasses contributing to climate pollution. 3. Part of our challenge when we think of creation care is to find God-centered solutions. Farming God’s way is a great example developed by an African farmer. By any measure, the trafficking in men and women for forced labor or sexual exploitation is an enormous and increasing tragedy. The extent of the problem can feel overwhelming. According to Polaris Project, there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally. A United Nations study showed that sex trafficking is the fastest-growing business of organized crime and the third-largest criminal enterprise in the world. Many individuals are passionately opposed to human trafficking and would love to help in some way but have no idea how. This month, you can take action against human trafficking by joining a YWAM prayer day called The Invitation. On May 13 we will pray along with Isaiah 61:1: “To proclaim freedom for the captives….”

Prayer Points: 1. Pray for survivors of trafficking.Pray that those caught up in trafficking would be freed from the chains that bind them and that they would encounter God’s love. Pray that they would heal, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Pray for fair and honest employers to offer them jobs and training. Pray that they would find hope for their futures and strength and grace to forgive. 2. Pray for traffickers.Pray that traffickers and pimps would have a profound, life-changing Damascus-road type of encounter with God (Acts 22:6-10). Pray they would repent and leave the sex trade and would use their knowledge of the industry to fight for freedom of people caught in slavery (John 8:32). 3. Pray for those battling against trafficking.Pray Galatians 6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”Pray for supernatural protection from evil. Pray for courage, wisdom from God, and a passionate heart for God and people. Pray that they would see the fruit of their labor. 4. Pray for the Church and society.Pray against the use of pornography. According to the organization Rescue:Freedom, in nine countries 49 percent of sexually exploited women said that pornography was made of them while they were being sold for sex. If Christians at large would stop using porn, it would have a significant impact on both the pornography and trafficking industries. Consider the following statistics: 57 percent of pastors say porn addiction is the most damaging issue in their congregation (a Barna survey, 2016); 76 percent of 18 to 24-year-old Christians actively seek out porn (Barna, 2016); 68 percent of church-going men and over 50 percent of pastors view porn on a regular basis (Pure Desire Ministries); and only seven percent of pastors say their church has a program to help people struggling with pornography (Barna, 2016). Pray for anti-porn programs to be set up. Pray for a re-dedication to biblical marriages. Pray Leviticus 20:26: “You are to be holy to me, because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.” Also pray for a commitment to “remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners” (Hebrews 13:3).

Suggestions for Group Prayer: Divide the group into four subgroups, one for each of the categories mentioned in the prayer points: survivors, traffickers, those battling against trafficking, and the church and society. For a moment, put yourselves into the shoes of the people you represent. Note what might motivate them and the challenges they face. Note what God is saying to you about who you represent. Pray as you are led, using the prayer points from above and what you hear from God.

Take Action 1. Spread awareness. Invite a specialist to speak at your church, school, or organization. Share information about human trafficking on social media, a blog, or YouTube. 2. Volunteer, support, or fundraise for an anti-trafficking organization you have researched. Shop for products made by exploited people (one example is kairostraders.com). Help exactly where you are. Businesses can provide internships, training, and jobs to trafficking survivors. Attorneys can offer free services. Medical professionals can get educated on how to spot and help trafficked victims. 3. Consider prevention. Traffickers typically target vulnerable populations (for example, homeless youth, foster kids, persons in abusive situations or poverty, etc.). Mentor and support these sorts of at-risk individuals. 4. Recommend the use of anti-porn programs in your church. Covenant Eyes is one such program. 5. Keep praying. A good prayer guide on the subject is called “15 Days of Prayer to End Exploitation” (kairostraders.com/collections/resources-1).

How We Prayed April 2021 – Myanmar 1. A former YWAMer of the Shan people group was deeply moved to hear that YWAM was praying for Myanmar. 2. YWAM Bangkok, Thailand prayed for those isolated by Covid and God led them to make phone calls to those in isolated/remote areas. 3. YWAM Yverdon, Switzerland gathered via zoom to stand in the gap for the nation of Myanmar. They sensed God leading them as they prayed. 4. A Korean message was received regarding prayer for stability in Myanmar.

Mass protests have been taking place since the military seized control on February 1, following the election of Aung San Suu Kyi. Civil unrest continues and over 500 protestors have been killed.

Myanmar is in southeast Asia and borders Thailand, Laos, Bangladesh, China, and India and has a population of about 54 million people. The main religion is Buddhism.

Prayer Points: 1. For the powers of darkness to be defeated by the blood of Jesus, so that truth, justice, and love can reign in Myanmar. That the resistance movement will continue to operate in the opposite Spirit to the violence. 2. For God’s protection of all our YWAM workers and the peaceful protesters. Pray for protection for men, who are being picked up from their homes and drafted into the military. Pray for safety for ethnic minorities who are fleeing air strikes. 3. Pray for believers and Christian leaders to not lose hope, but to continue to do good by providing help, comfort, and safety, and to be a positive witness in their grieving communities and in the jails. Pray for simple forms of Christian worship to mushroom into multiplying movements all over the country and among the Myanmar diaspora. 4. Pray for a political solution that will not end in civil war.

Suggestions for Group Prayer:

  1. Find Myanmar on a map, noting surrounding countries. Review recent news from a trusted source.
  2. Identify people that might be impacted by this conflict. Discuss what it would be like to live there during this unrest. Discuss how God might be working in the midst of the conflict.
  3. Listen to the Holy Spirit and share as a group what His message is regarding Myanmar.

This month, please join YWAM’s prayer day, called The Invitation, as we lift up the city of Tripoli, Libya. In Tripoli, cafes are places where the elderly and the young meet to socialize, gossip, argue and plan. Hassan is one of Tripoli’s 1,165,000 Muslim residents, and he goes to a cafe to visit a group of friends, international students he met at university. They talk about politics, sports, and religion. Several of them are Christians and Hassan is interested in their beliefs, having never met a Christian before. Please pray for the Muslims in Tripoli, and for the growing number of Christians.

  1. Islam is the state religion in Libya. Pray for greater freedom, socially and legally, to talk about different faiths so people can learn about Jesus (John 16:33).
  2. Tripoli remains always on the edge of conflict, with ongoing violence from civil war. Extremist groups surround the city. Pray for peace (Psalm 2).
  3. Pray for cafes to become centers of discipleship, with many more Muslims coming to follow Jesus (John 8:31-32). Cafes are a place people go to exchange ideas and get to know new people. This makes them an ideal environment for discipleship.

Suggestions for Group Prayer:

  1. Before praying, discuss the things you would want your Muslim friends to know about Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you who to share this with.
  2. Set up an area for prayer that mimics a café that might be found in a large city like Tripoli. Have people sit 2 or more at various tables. Before you pray, discuss what it might be like to be a Christian sitting among friends sharing your faith. Discuss what it might be like to be a Muslim hearing about your Christian friend’s faith.
  3. Assign a small group to conduct basic research on Tripoli including facts, statistics, maps, pictures and to present this information to the group before praying.
