The resurrection is the cornerstone of the Christian faith and the gospel of Christ. Without it, our vain is empty, vain, and powerless. Through the fulfilled word of Christ and the evidence of the empty tomb, we can confirm our faith in a Risen Savior.
Jesus has been prepared for His purpose, but now He is preparing His followers for that purpose and for what will follow after He has accomplished it. He is telling them that their purpose is just beginning and that their lives must be lived in anticipation of the fact that He is coming again.
As Jesus comes closer to fulfilling His purpose on earth, the opposition grows stronger. The closer you get to God's purpose for your life the stronger the opposition to it becomes. Preparation and growth always involve testing. We must choose to see testing with that purpose in mind.

Jesus called His disciples to follow Him, and after both teaching them and showing them what that meant, it was time for them to go out and do it themselves (Matthew 10). Jesus makes it clear to them that following Him is it. Anything else outside the context of following Jesus is a lost cause.

Matthew 5-7 is perhaps the greatest monologue ever given: the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus begins the recorded portion of His teaching by focusing on a commitment to following Him. This was unlike anything the disciples had ever heard before. The Sermon on the Mount shows us what a heart that loves and wants to follow Jesus produces in a life.

Matthew begins with the genealogy of Jesus in chapter 1, and from this record of descendants, we find some powerful truths about Jesus, His mission to reach the world, and those He would use to fulfill it. We finish by learning from the life of Joseph: a just man, a patient man, and an obedient. We answer this question: what would Jospeh had been doing if things had been different in history before him?
The gospels are the watershed moment of human history. From the perfect creation, the fall of man, and the promise of God to restore man to Himself, the Bible points to this fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Each gospel is written from a slightly different perspective, to a different group of readers, with a slightly different emphasis, all pointing to Jesus as the Savior. We learn the distinction of Matthew compared to the other gospels, as well the story of Matthew, the author, and his calling by Jesus.
In the valley, we look to God to be with us. But on the mountaintop, God calls us to be with Him. Usually associated with victory and triumph, the mountain can be a time of loneliness and testing. In each mountaintop experience, God calls us to be with Him, in His presence. The God Who is with us wants us to be with Him. God has chosen to reveal to us in Scripture one of His names: Emmanuel, God with us. He’s with you through the valley. He comforts you in the waiting. When you’re anxious about your future, He gives you courage. As you climb the mountain, He keeps you safe in His arms. You’re not alone. In every moment, we have God With Us. God prepares people and positions them to accomplish the divine reversals that He has planned. Although Esther does not mention the presence of God directly, we see His working throughout the entire story. Guest teacher John Felt continues our study by exploring the sovereignty of God, the providence of God and how they work together both in the story of Esther and in the path to purpose in our own lives. A must-listen discussion on these incredible attributes of God.
We can trust that God has a purpose specific for us that only we were created to accomplish, but in times of pain, testing, or darkness, its hard to see where things are going. We ask questions like "Is God working?" "Is God listening?" "Is He accomplishing His purpose?" The Book of Esther is unique to the Word of God. It is 1 out of 66 that does not mention God directly. Yet even in this appeared absence, we still Him at work in the life of His people, accomplishing His purpose.
The fastest way to kill something special is to compare it to something else. The reason that you can't do what someone else can do or the reason that you aren't doing what someone else is doing is this: You were't called to their purpose. You are perfectly created by God to fulfill God's purpose for you. But you can't fulfill God's purpose for you when you are comparing it to someone else's purpose. Listen and be encouraged to fix your eyes on Jesus so that you run race that God has given just to you.
If you don't know somethings purpose, you'll likely waste it or abuse it. So many of us are frustrated or discouraged because we don't know the purpose for our lives. We don't know our WHY. The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without purpose. If you struggle with the questions of purpose or just want to know where to find your "why", this lesson is for you.

Lesson 7 covers the attribute of God's Omniscience. Since God is eternal and existing throughout all of time, omnipresent and existing throughout all of space, and infinite with no limitations or boundaries, it can only lead us to reason that He is omniscient: seeing and knowing all things past, present, future, and all possibilities. Nothing catches Him by surprise, nor can anyone find a better way for Him to do things.

Here we go with Lesson 6 on God's Omnipresence. The truth of God's omnipresence tells that God is every where in His fullness, with no limits to space or size. But there is a difference between being in the presence of God and being in God's presence. The question is not, "Is God here?" The question is, "Are we aware?" There is not a moment when His presence is not around us, not a time when His presence is not before us, behind us, in us, around us. But are we aware of Him being there? Are we looking for His face? It is in His presence that we find a fullness of joy.

Listen to Lesson 5 of our series, None Else, about God's immutability. God does not change. He is perfect in His character, nature, purposes, and promises. He cannot change, as change would indicate an imperfection before or after the change. What does this mean for us? God is dependable. Our trust in Him is a confident trust, for we know that He will not, in fact, cannot change.

Lesson 4 of our series, None Else. We discuss God's Self-existence in this lesson. God is in no way dependent on His creation. God exists independent of His creation. Our worship of Him is due not because He needs us but because we need Him. If God we’re not free from creation, we might pray for Him, but not to Him. Because God is free from creation, it is for that reason that He is able to enter into creation in order to save lost sinners. The gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, His death, burial, and resurrection necessary for salvation. The gospel is the power of God to everyone who believes for entry into the Christian life. But it is also the power of God to everyone who believes for the entirety of the Christian life. What Christ has done for us ignites our Christian life, but it also must be what sustains us through it as well. The gospel is the opportunity to see what God has done for us and to know what He wants us to become.
Part 1 in our brand new series: Pointing to the Purpose. In this series, we are looking at the life of John the Baptist and his purpose of pointing to Christ. From before birth and all through his life, John's purpose was to prepare the way for Christ and point others around him to the Messiah. What can we learn from John's life that will help us be focused on and committed to the same purpose in our own lives? How can we point to the purpose of our lives so that others around us can see the Lamb of God?
In our last lesson in Psalm 119, we examine Scripture as defined as the Word of God, what God has spoken to each of us. We see how the word of God, or His promise to us is connected to His character. We serve a God for Whom it is impossible to lie; therefore, it is impossible to break His promises. The keeping of God's promises are not dependent on our feelings about them but on the character of the One Who made them. Be encouraged by this last look at Psalm 119 to know that you can trust the promises in the Word of God.

How can we look at tragedy, suffering, and heartache in this life and still say that God is right? How can we endure hardship, trials, and testings and still believe that what God has decided is best for us? Psalm 119 describes God's Word as "Judgments" or the things that God has decided and decreed. These verses tell us that God is always right in what He has decided, and even when we may not understand or see how it is right, we can trust and believe that it is right for us.

We revisit our conversation on affliction that was started in Part 5 before moving on to the next word in Psalm 119: commandments, what God has given to us without question and without wavering. We can know that what we have available to us is the very word of God. We answer the questions, "How did we get God's Word?" and "How do we keep God's Word?" A man of knowledge increaseth strength. How valuable is it to know what we believe about God's Word.

Part 5 of Psalm 119 deals with the Scripture as the statutes of God. Statutes are the unchanging, written-in-stone, words of God. Statutes, legally, owe their binding power to the consent of the people. Therefore, God's Word only has power in our lives when we choose to allow it to. Part 5 also talks about affliction and God's purpose for it in our lives. How can we say that affliction is good for us?

Part 4 in our series on Psalm 119. The word for Scripture is precepts, and we talk about how God's Word is the mission that God has given to us for our daily lives. The reason we don't find God's will for our lives is because we are not looking the right places. We also look at the difference between wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, and how we need understanding when studying the Bible.
Part 3 in our series on Psalm 119. We explore God's Word as the Way, as well as loving it with our whole heart. Also, what exactly does the word "quicken" me in the Bible and how it can help us in our relationship with Scripture.
We continue our study through Psalm 119 by learning about the second of eight words used to describe Scripture in Psalm 119, "testimonies." We also look at what it means to "keep" God's Word.
Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the longest book of the Bible, and nearly all of it focuses or references the Word of God. Our minds must be focused on truth if we are going to have the right thoughts. That truth must be God's Word. We will not get our minds right until we get them and keep them in God's Word. The struggles of our mind reveal a disconnect from God's Word. In this lesson, we begin looking at the first of eight words used to describe God's Word in Psalm 119, "law," and the relationship that we should have with Scripture in that light.
Imagine having a heart filled with peace, a life filled with joy, and a mind that is free from worry. It is possible, but it is our choice to make. Our minds are moving in the direction of our strongest thoughts. When those thoughts are negative thoughts of worry and fear, then our response and reaction to everything in life will be worry and fear. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but the opportunity to be filled and led by the Spirit of God. This includes the thoughts of our mind. Through the power power of prayer, we can know the peace of God that passes our understanding, and it can protect our hearts and minds from the fear of negative thoughts. "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

Because we are all just flesh, we can develop a cognitive bias in our minds that affects how we look at everything. It produces a mental filter or framework that is not based on truth, but on the lies that we have believed. We must learn to choose a mental filter that is based on the truth of God's Word before we face a negative situation in life. You can't always control what happens to you, but you can control how you frame it. Paul had won the war of his mind, and now we was able to look at life through the filter of truth and see God at work. "12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; 13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;" Philippians 1:12-13

The more you think a thought, the easier it is to think that thought again. This is good news if we think good thoughts, but bad news if our thoughts are based on lies. Just like we must learn to train our bodies to be strong and healthy, we must learn to train our minds if our thoughts are going to be fixed on truth. It will not happen by accident. But if we want to change our lives, we must change our thinking. Philippians 4:8 says, "...think on these things."

Most battles are won or lost in our minds. We must recognize the strongholds that have been built through the enemy's deception, and learn how to capture those thoughts with the truths of God's Word. Your life is headed in the direction of your strongest thoughts. If you don't like the direction you're headed, change your thinking.
