Kansas basketball plays in the Champions Classic in Indy vs. Duke. At the time of recording, the game had not started yet, so we don't have the results, but Blake and Tommy talk about the talent on this team, plus what sort of things you can glean from the matchup with the #7 Blue Devils.

The Kansas Jayhawks football are now bowl eligible after defeating Oklahoma State 37-16. The Hawks fall to Texas Tech in Lubbock, but are assured a bowl game for the first time in 15 years and assured a non-losing season in Year 2 of the Lance Leipold Era. Blake and Tommy talk about the turnaround and where this team stands at the QB position with Jalon Daniels potentially returning and what things need to be shored up if this team wants to get to a winning season.

The Kansas State Wildcats are firmly in the driver's seat to play in the Big 12 Championship game against TCU. After falling to Texas at home, the Wildcats rebound in Waco with a 31-3 drubbing of Baylor. The Wildcats defense is elite and the guys discuss how lockdown K-State's defense can be, and what it means to this team to more than likely have QB Will Howard lead the team the rest of the way.

The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in the #1 seed spot in the AFC after beating Tennessee and Jacksonville in consecutive weeks, while Buffalo loses two in a row. Blake and Tommy discuss the lack of production from former first round pick RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, plus what they have seen on both sides of the ball for KC, as they prepare for another primetime matchup, this time against the Chargers on Sunday Night Football.

There are some concerns offensively and on special teams with KC, and Blake and Tommy break down what needs to happen for the Chiefs to bounce back in primetime against Tom Brady and Tampa Bay this Sunday night.

Chris Klieman and the Kansas State Wildcats have had an interesting couple of weeks. First, they look anemic offensively against Tulane, but then go to Norman and hung 41 in an upset victory over the Oklahoma Sooners. The Wildcats are 3-1 and Adrian Martinez is the reigning offensive player of the week. The Cats still control their own destiny in the Big 12, but how far can they go? The guys discuss.

ROCK CHALK CHAMPIONSHIP! We're back with the Championship Edition of Keeper of the Games with Blake Cripps and Tommy Castor!

- The Kansas Jayhawks are National Champions! KU defeated Villanova in the Final Four and then completed the largest comeback in NCAA tournament history by beating North Carolina in the championship game 72-69. It is the 6th national championship for KU and the 4th NCAA title. It's Bill Self's 2nd title and the first for the program since 2008. Blake and Tommy break down everything from the championship, including the huge 2nd half comeback, the success of David McCormack, what this title means for the program and Bill Self, plus what will happen next year with the team.

In HUGE NFL news, the Kansas City Chiefs shocked the world by trading star WR Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for a slew of draft picks. It was a hugely disappointing end to the season for KSU, especially as they had been in the NCAA tourney hunt as recently as January. The guys discuss if this is truly the end for Bruce Weber at K-State and what sort of direction the Wildcats will take in the future.

The Sunflower Showdown part Deux took place Tuesday night inside Allen Fieldhouse as Kansas took down Kansas State with ease 102-83. Blake and Tommy discuss the speed in which the Jayhawks played that game and if that can translate to a potential deep March Madness run. Also, with that loss, KSU falls to 6-9 in the Big 12, but had they picked up a win last weekend against Oklahoma State, they very well could have been in the driver's seat for an NCAA tourney bid. Now, things look to be much more difficult for the Wildcats to get in.

The Wichita Thunder are the hottest hockey team in the ECHL. The team, which suffered through a long losing streak spanning parts of December and January, have battled back to .500. Blake and Tommy discuss what happened for the Thunder to get back into the playoff hunt and some of the key members of the team that have contributed to this turnaround.

- The Kansas City Chiefs played an instant classic in the Divisional Round, defeating the Buffalo Bills 42-36 in overtime, complete with a Patrick Mahomes drive in the final 13 seconds to set up the game tying field goal. The Chiefs next play in their 4th straight AFC Championship game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. The guys discuss the defense and what will need to be done offensively for the Chiefs to head to the Super Bowl.

The Kansas Jayhawks had some nailbiters over the last week, including overcoming a 16 point halftime deficit in the Sunflower Showdown in Manhattan to beat K-State 78-75. On top of that, a little more than 48 hours later, the Jayhawks took down Texas Tech at home in double overtime. Blake and Tommy discuss the lack of Remy Martin and how clutch the Jayhawks have been so far in conference play.

On the flip side, it's been a struggle for both Kansas State basketball and Wichita State basketball, although the Shockers did get a conference victory at home this week against UCF, that was much needed. The guys give a breakdown on where both of these teams stand.

- Kansas State football fell to Baylor over the weekend in Manhattan, but the KSU defense was solid, limited Baylor to one of their worst offensive conference games. The offense wasn't quite there for the Wildcats, especially with an injury to Skylar Thompson. What will things look like for K-State offensively next season? The guys discuss.
- Kansas football continued their steady improvement by playing TCU tough in Fort Worth over the weekend, falling by last second field goal 31-28. Blake and Tommy discuss the late game clock management from the Jayhawks and how there not being a letdown against TCU is so important for KU moving forward.
- The Wichita State Shockers are 4-1, including going 1-1 in Vegas over the weekend. Isaac Brown's crew has typically struggled out of the gate, especially offensively, but have been able to get wins. WSU takes on Missouri, Oklahoma State and Kansas State their next 3 games, so the Shockers have a good chance to improve their record.

It was KU's first road Big 12 win since 2008, and Blake and Tommy discuss how even though Kansas football isn't 'back' just because of that win, how there is positive momentum, it seems, moving into the future for the Jayhawks.
- The Kansas City Chiefs finally got their statement victory after 9 weeks of average at best football, defeating the Raiders in Las Vegas in primetime on Sunday night 41-14. Blake and Tommy talk about how much KC needed that win to move into 1st place in the AFC West and how the team both offensively and defensively showed up, plus what the Chiefs need to do to continue their strong play against the Cowboys this weekend.
- Kansas State football got another solid victory in Manhattan over the weekend, defeating West Virginia. Kansas State is bowl eligible and is two games away from ending the season on a strong note. The guys discuss how Chris Klieman's program has come into its own this season and how the Wildcats should lean on Deuce Vaughn down the home stretch.

-The Kansas State Wildcats fell to the Sooners over the weekend 37-31, but the more important note for K-State was that Skylar Thompson returned under center after being gone for a couple weeks due to injury. Blake and Tommy discuss the importance of having Thompson healthy for the Wildcats as they continue in Big XII play.

Well it was a disappointing weekend for fans of Wichita area sports, but Blake Cripps and Tommy Castor will dissect all the disappointment and despair on this week's new episode of Keeper of the Games!!
On this episode:
-The Wichita Wind Surge get swept in the Double A Central Playoffs to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. The guys recap the inaugural season for the Surge and look ahead to what next year should look like for baseball in Wichita.
-The Kansas Jayhawks hung with the Duke Blue Devils, even leading at halftime, but the Jayhawks fell apart in the 2nd half and KU's best chance to win a second game this season ended with a 52-33 loss.
-The Kansas State Wildcats dropped a disappointing game to the Oklahoma State Cowboys 31-20, in which backup QB Will Howard was injured and star running back Deuce Vaughn was limited to only 22 yards on 13 carries.
-The most disappointing game of the weekend had to be the Kansas City Chiefs dropping their 2nd in a row, this time to the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs had 4 turnovers and had to attempt a last second Hail Mary, which failed. The Chiefs fell to 1-2 on the season and Blake and Tommy discuss what the Chiefs need to do to turn things around, pronto.

(23:43) It's an interesting conversation about high school sports in the state of Kansas and the debate between private schools and public schools and if the playing field should be leveled with multipliers in Kansas. Blake and Weston discuss the proposal that the KSHSAA should have a multiplier and would move private schools up one classification in the state due to the idea that private schools are winning more state championships than public.
(47:03) Summer workouts are underway for Wichita State Shocker basketball and the guys check in on the new faces for the Shockers and what should fans expect from Coach Isaac Brown's crew this winter....

The school year is coming to a close, summer is nearly here and so it's now time for a new KOGpod with Blake Cripps and Tommy Castor?? And here...we...go....
(04:07) The dream season has come to a close for Wichita State Shocker softball, falling in the Norman regional over the weekend. WSU swept Texas A&M and gave the Sooners all they wanted in the first matchup, but the elimination game was too much for the Shockers. Still, an incredible year for the Shockers and one they should be proud of. Also, Shocker baseball ended the regular season taking 3 of 4 from Memphis and get a #3 seed in the AAC tournament, kicking off on Tuesday.
(52:36) All may not be lost for the Kansas City Royals. After dropping 2 of 3 against the White Sox, the Royals have won 5 of 6, including sweeping Milwaukee and taking 3 of 4 from Detroit. What is to make of the Royals ballclub?

(03:10) We start the show with a special guest. Tyler O'Quinn, the Team Owner for Midtown Prestige, a professional basketball organization in Wichita joins the KOGpod. The team plays their home games at Charles Koch Arena on the campus of WSU. Tyler joins us to discuss the formation of the team and how the season has progressed.
(10:58) It's finally here. The Wichita Wind Surge begin their season this week on the road in Springfield to take on the Cardinals. The Wind Surge at the time of this recording are 2-0 to start the season before they come back home next week for Opening Day at Riverfront Stadium against Amarillo.
(27:29) It's watch and wait time for WSU softball after they ended the season a 2 game losing streak, dropping the finale against Tulsa, then losing to the #1 team in America, Oklahoma. What will the fate for WSU be for the American Conference regular season crown? And Shocker baseball still has work to do. After splitting the series last weekend vs. #8 East Carolina, WSU baseball can climb into 3rd in the American with a good showing this weekend.
(38:10) The Kansas City Royals have had rough few days, dropping 4 straight. The guys debate on if this is natural or if this is a sign of regression for the boys in blue.

Keeper of the Games is back and it's NFL Draft Week! Settle in and enjoy our new episode as we break down the Draft and more!!
(05:26) The NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday evening, but the Kansas City Chiefs don't have a pick in the 1st round. Last week, KC traded away their 1st round pick in exchange for OT Orlando Brown from the Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs have rebuilt their offensive line after their Super Bowl loss in February, but what will the draft hold for the Chiefs?
(32:09) Many sources are saying the search for the next head football coach at the University of Kansas and an announcement could be imminent. Most sources are leaning either toward Lance Leipold from Buffalo or Jeff Monken from Army being hired as the next HC by new AD Travis Goff. Can you go wrong with either coach? Is it ok to be cautiously optimistic? The guys debate.
(53:18) The Kansas City Royals are still, at the time of this recording, in 1st place in the AL Central and have the best record in the American League. The pitching has stabilized and KC is getting good offensive production from several guys including Carlos Santana. Can KC continue to ride the wave into the month of May?
(1:07:08) This weekend will be a crucial one for both Wichita State baseball and Wichita State softball. Baseball takes on #8 East Carolina this weekend at home after dropping 3 of 4 on the road last weekend to Cincinnati. Meanwhile, softball will battle league leading Tulsa this weekend after dropping 3 of 4 last weekend to USF. Softball did take down #11 Oklahoma State on Tuesday evening.
(1:22:51) It's our #WichitaWhiparound and this week we discuss topics like Wichita Thunder hockey, Newman University women's soccer and an inspiring story about a dad and little league coach in Wichita losing his battle against cancer, but his son still played a little league game the next day and how it brought the community together.

Keeper of the Games is back and even without Weston Mills, who is out sick this week, we are ready to roll with Blake Cripps and Tommy Castor!
(04:33) We lead off the show with a topic we've been saying for weeks should actually lead the show, and we finally do it. Wichita State Softball continues to be on a roll. They took 3 of 4 games from UCF last weekend (the 4th game ended in a 0-0 tie) before snapping their win streak on Wednesday vs. Kansas. The Shockers control their own destiny to snag a conference regular season title. Shocker baseball had a rough weekend vs. Tulane, but look to bounce back against Cincinnati this weekend.
(26:12) The Kansas City Royals are still, at the time of this recording, in 1st place in the AL Central with a record of 10-7 after their walk-off win vs. the Rays. Their pitching has been suspect outside of Danny Duffy, but their hitting has been solid for the most part. That being said, is this 1st place record and the early success of the Royals fools gold? Blake and Tommy debate.
(47:15) It continues to be a busy time in the transfer portal, for all 3 Kansas college hoops teams. For WSU, they add Joe Pleasant from Abilene Christian, while Tyson Etienne declares for the NBA Draft. KU and KSU are also dealing with players announcing they are leaving, but both teams continue to pick up new players. Also on this episode, the guys discuss the breaking news that Marcus Garrett will not return to KU and will declare for the NBA Draft with the intent to stay in the draft.

(02:57) We're about at the midseason mark for the Wichita Thunder, so the voice of the Thunder, Jason Mals joins KOGpod for an update on the season, and what's up next for the Thunder!
(28:24) The Kansas City Royals, at the time of this recording sit in 2nd place in the AL Central. They had a letdown game on Monday vs. the Angels, but followed it up with a 2015-esque win, led by the bullpen on Tuesday. The boys give their recap on where KC stands right now.
(49:10) It's a topic that nobody enjoys discussing, but it is relevant to sports in the area as Britt Reid, former assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs (and Andy Reid's son) has been charged in the accident that left a 5 year old girl critically injured. The guys discuss the latest in the case.
(1:01:58) It continues to be a busy time in the transfer portal, especially for Kansas basketball as freshman Bryce Thompson has decided to leave the Jayhawk program, meaning the entire freshman class has left KU. Also Ochai Agbaji and Jalen Wilson have declared for the NBA draft. On a positive note, Drake transfer Joseph Yesufu has committed to play for KU next season.
(1:16:20) The good times keep rolling for Shocker baseball and softball. Baseball has won 7 straight, including winning 7 of 8 against Houston (and getting the first victory in the brand new Riverfront Stadium). Softball has won 10 straight and received their first Top 25 ranking in school history.

(04:32) It's all about the Chiefs win over the Browns in the divisional round of the AFC on Sunday 22-17. The guys discuss the Patrick Mahomes injury, the Chad Henne/Tyreek Hill play call to win the game, the running game and the defensive effort. They also look ahead to the tough Buffalo matchup in the AFC Championship, the odds of Patrick Mahomes playing and game predictions.
(41:58) It's our College Hoops Roundup and on this episode, we start with the Kansas Jayhawks. They fell to the #2 Baylor Bears on Monday night to fall to 10-4 overall and 4-3 in the Big XII. The guys discuss the defensive woes for KU, the lineup and rotation struggles and what bright spots are on the horizon for the Jayhawks.

(04:44) We kick off the show with our College Hoops Roundup. We start with the 8-3 Wichita State Shockers. At the time of the recording WSU had just taken down Tulsa inside Charles Koch Arena to move to 4-1 in conference play. The guys discuss if WSU's season has surprised them, where this team is headed and what kind of consideration should be given for Isaac Brown to be named permanent head coach.
(34:24) The Kansas Jayhawks are 10-3 and 4-2 in Big XII play after dropping a game Tuesday night on the road in Stillwater to the OSU Cowboys 75-70. Where is this KU team right now? Who's the leader? Who needs to step up? The guys discuss.

(1:29:44) The University of Kansas football squad has picked up 3 new commits for next season, including a 3 star prep QB, a Notre Dame transfer OL and the highest recruit ever for the Jayhawks, the 5th best WR in the country. Let's rock and roll! It's our next to last episode of 2020!! It's the Mildly Entertaining Sports Podcast for Wichita & Beyond with Tommy Castor and Weston Mills.
(3:32): It was a nailbiter, surprisingly, but the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 22-16 on Sunday Night Football to move to 11-1. Tommy and Weston break down the high spots and concerns after a game that many thought would be a blowout, but wasn't for the Chiefs...plus the guys preview the game this Sunday afternoon vs. the Dolphins.
(26:46): It's time for the Kansas College Hoops Roundup. The #5 Kansas Jayhawks narrowly defeated the #8 Creighton Bluejays in a hotly contested game 73-72 inside Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks move to 5-1 on the season and the guys give their take on the season thus far for KU. Also, things are going from bad to worse for the Kansas State Wildcats. K-State loses at home to DII Fort Hays State University on Tuesday night. Weston and Tommy also discuss the Shockers dropping a home game over the weekend to the Missouri Tigers. (53:37): In college football, the Kansas Jayhawks nearly pulled off a huge upset over the weekend, narrowly losing to Texas Tech 16-13. Tommy and Weston discuss what happened that led to KU almost winning that game. On the flip side, the Kansas State Wildcats has lost their last 5 games in row to end the season 4-6. They lost to the Texas Longhorns 69-31, which is a disappointing way to end Chris Klieman's second season in Manhattan. The guys break down where KSU stands now.

December is here! We are almost through 2020 and we're ready for a brand new episode of Keeper of the Games! It's the Mildly Entertaining Sports Podcast for Wichita & Beyond with Tommy Castor and Weston Mills.
(02:40): The first week of the college hoops season is in the books and Tommy and Weston do a little Kansas college basketball roundup. How did KU stack up in their first 3 games, 2 of which were against ranked opponents? The Jayhawks are 2-1 and the guys break down how KU got to that point. What's happening in Manhattan as the Wildcats of Kansas State are just 1-2 and barely squeaked by UMKC in their lone win so far this season? The shorthanded Wichita State Shockers played their first game Wednesday night and started the Isaac Brown era off on a good note as they beat Oral Roberts 85-80. Tommy and Weston discuss these topics and more in the college hoops scene.
(35:30) Big news surrounding the Wichita Wind Surge as speculation is that the Wind Surge will end their Triple A affliation with the Miami Marlins and become the Double A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins before ever playing a game. Mixed feelings persist about these rumors and Tommy and Weston break them all down and discuss the pros and cons of a move like this potentially happening in Wichita.
(46:44): The Chiefs moved to 10-1 with a 27-24 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon in Tampa Bay. Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill were on fire. The guys discuss the unfair advantage those two and Travis Kelce have on other teams, plus what the heck is going on with the pass rush for KC. The Chiefs are back home on Sunday Night Football to take on the Denver Broncos.
(1:04:52): It hasn't been a great couple of weeks for either the Kansas State Wildcats or Kansas Jayhawks football teams. KSU lost to Baylor 32-31 to drop to 4-5 on the season. KU was blown out by TCU 59-23. We have updates from both teams.
(1:13:42): Our #WichitaWhiparound's is all about Kansas high school playoff football. Weston and Tommy discuss the Wichita metro schools and how they fared in the state championship games. Derby is your 6A State Champions. Wichita Northwest lost to Mill Valley for the 5A State Championship, Arkansas City lost to St. James in 4A and Weston's alma mater, Andale took down Perry-LeCompton to be the 3A State Champions. Congrats to all the Wichita area squads!

(04:18): Last week, we did a full Wichita State basketball preview with Aliyah Funschelle, this week, we're talking with Gary Bedore from the Kansas City Star about all things Kansas Jayhawks basketball. At the time of the recording, KU is still scheduled to kick off the season on Thanksgiving against the #1 Gonzaga Bulldogs. Gary discusses what the season may look like for KU, updates on returning players and who may be stepping up for the Jayhawks. Gary also discusses Devon Dotson and Udoka Azubuike and how they both fared in the NBA Draft.
(35:07) In Wichita State Shocker basketball news, the team is heading home from Sioux Falls, South Dakota after multiple COVID-19 cases among the traveling party. The Shockers pull out of the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Tournament scheduled for later this week. Also, Wichita State hires former Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy to round out Isaac Brown's staff at WSU. Plus, Fred Van Vleet signs the largest NBA contract ever for an undrafted player. Tommy and Weston discuss all of this.
(48:57): So Raider Week has come and gone for Kansas City and the Chiefs escape Las Vegas with a close win on Sunday Night Football, 35-31. Tommy and Weston talk about the Raider game, how Patrick Mahomes saved the team in the final minute, plus ongoing concerns with the Chiefs defense, specifically the front 4 of Kansas City. The Chiefs travel to Tampa to take on Tom Brady and the Bucs this Sunday.
(1:03:37): Farmageddeon was a blowout last Saturday as #17 Iowa State routed the Kansas State Wildcats 45-0. Tommy and Weston discuss where K-State stands right now and what may be on the horizon for the final games, now that the Big 12 title seems out of reach for the Cats.
(1:09:20): Our #WichitaWhiparound's starts off with the news that KSHAA has decided to start the Winter Sports schedule on time, albeit with no spectators allowed. Other than that, all sports, including basketball, around the state will begin on time. It is all about Kansas high school playoff football. Weston and Tommy discuss the Wichita metro schools that are moving in the State Championship Round this weekend. Derby represents in 6A, Wichita Northwest in 5A, Arkansas City in 4A and Weston's alma mater, Andale in 3A.

This separation is expected by the end of the week. Tommy and Weston discuss what is next for the Shockers and who may end up coaching WSU next.
(26:06): The Chiefs won a nailbiter against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday moving their record to 8-1. With a bye next on their schedule, the guys break down where the Chiefs stand after 9 games and what to expect the 7 remaining regular season games.
(39:45): Unfortunately, both Kansas State and Kansas lost last weekend to Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, respectively. The difference though, was that the Wildcats nearly got the W, while the Jayhawks were embarrassed in Norman. Tommy and Blake break down the brackets for 6A, 5A, 4A and 3A and talk about what 1st round matchups for the City League and the surrounding towns are the most intriguing. They debate who may make it the furthest in their respective brackets and discuss who could be hoisting state titles.
(35:11): It was a beatdown in Denver on Sunday as the Chiefs destroyed the Broncos 43-16 in the snow. The guys discuss that game, the laughable statements made by Garret Bolles from the Broncos, plus what to expect when the Chiefs take on the winless Jets this coming Sunday.
(49:15): The guys recap the Sunflower Beatdown from Saturday as the Wildcats from Kansas State manhandled the Kansas Jayhawks 55-14.

Buckle up boys and girls! Time for a brand new episode of the Wildly Underqualified, Yet Mildly Entertaining Sports Podcast for Wichita & Beyond - Keeper of the Games!! Tommy Castor is joined this week by the one and only Blake Cripps, voice of the Newman University Jets! Also, Weston Mills is back on the program this week as he awaits the birth of his brand new daughter!! It's a jam packed show, so let's get right into it.
(02:51): We start the show with probably the most controversial and troubling story that we've ever discussed on this podcast and that is the situation surrounding Gregg Marshall at Wichita State University. Tommy, Weston and Blake try to unpack and tackle the disturbing allegations of physical and verbal abuse by the Shockers head coach against players, other coaches and community members. WSU is in the middle of an internal investigation. The guys debate what's going on, what the outcome may be and who else, outside of the coach himself is to blame for this whole situation. Easily our longest one topic discussion on this show, it may be polarizing but it's important.
(50:43): Weston, Blake and Tommy recap the 40-32 loss on Sunday for Kansas City against the Las Vegas Raiders. Tommy called it a trap game the week before and was it ever for KC. The guys discuss how Patrick Mahomes can't always look superhuman, plus lapses on defense contributed to the loss. The guys look ahead to the next Monday afternoon matchup against the Buffalo Bills and recap some injury news for KC.
(1:12:39): Another big win on Saturday on the road for the Kansas State Wildcats as they defeat TCU 21-14 to move to 3-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Big 12. Tommy thinks the Wildcats are for real as they lead the Big 12 standings, Weston and Blake are still not so sure. The guys debate that and also K-State's effectiveness without Skylar Thompson who is out for the season.
(1:23:15): If things couldn't get worse for KU football, Les Miles tested positive for COVID-19, but still plans to coach Kansas on Saturday against West Virginia. Also, Brent Dearmon says Miles Kendrick will start at QB for the Jayhawks, however Thomas Macvittie will be available, so more QB carousel news for KU.

Tommy and Blake debate if the Wildcats are for real and their predictions for KSU moving forward this season. Also, Head Coach Chris Klieman gets a well deserved contract extension so the guys discuss the success he's brought to the Wildcats.
(52:23): It's a pit of despair in Lawrence as the Jayhawks get blown out by Oklahoma State 47-7 on Saturday. Blake and Tommy do everything in their power to not light the whole program on fire, but it's tough. Not a whole lot else to say about this segment. KU football is bad.
(58:13) Since Blake Cripps is on the show, we get a quick MIAA/Newman University update. Newman basketball is on as scheduled, but bad news for area MIAA football fans, the football season for teams like Pittsburg State, Fort Hays State and more has been completely cancelled. Blake has the details.

(03:24): Despite being 3 point underdogs (insane), the Kansas City Chiefs showed they were the dominant team in Monday Night Football beating the Baltimore Ravens 34-20 on Monday night. Weston and Tommy break down the game, discuss if the Ravens should be considered a rival of the Chiefs and if Lamar Jackson is anywhere close to the level of Patrick Mahomes. The guys also give some credit to the KC linebackers, the playcalling of Andy Reid and Eric Bienenemy and look ahead to the Week 4 matchup on Sunday when Cam Newton and the Patriots come to Arrowhead.
(38:47): What a game for the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday, shocking the college football world by stunning the #3 Oklahoma Sooners with a come from behind 38-35 win in Norman. What does this mean for the Wildcats moving forward...should K-State be respected more on a national level now? The guys discuss.
(47:33): Not nearly as positive of a result from the Kansas Jayhawks as they were blown out by the Baylor Bears in Waco by a score of 47-14. Outside of two Pooka Williams scores, the rest of the game was a trainwreck for KU. Weston and Tommy discuss the strategy (or lack thereof) of having Jalon Daniels play QB and what might happen moving forward at QB for KU. Also, they wonder if all hope is lost this season for the Jayhawks.

But do you ever feel like you're out of it when Patrick Mahomes is your QB? The guys also talk about the upcoming Monday Night Football matchup against the Ravens where the Chiefs are actually underdogs.
(35:35): At the time of this recording, both the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas State Wildcats are on schedule to play their respective games on Saturday against Baylor (for KU) and Oklahoma (for KSU), but there are COVID-19 concerns for both games. Tommy and Weston discuss those issues and if the games are played, is there anyway either KS team can cover the spread.
(48:54): Gregg Marshall held his Opening Press Conference as the Wichita State Shockers get geared up for the 2020-21 season. The guys talk about his remarks on his team and the chemistry that Marshall hopes to have this season that may have been lacking last season for WSU.

(18:03) We are only 1 week away for kickoff for the defending Super Bowl Champs, The Kansas City Chiefs when they take on the Houston Texans in Week 1 of the 2020 season. The guys discuss the Chiefs ring ceremony, Patrick Mahomes engagement to long time girlfriend Brittany Matthews, the rumored contract extensions for Andy Reid and Brett Veach, plus some injury concerns for week 1 for the Chiefs.

The Wichita Open also announced their Korn Ferry Tour stop in September will go on as scheduled, albeit without spectators in attendance. It's a 10 year extension, worth over 500 million dollars, keeping Mahomes with the Chiefs until at least 2031. (32:48) Keon Coleman has verbally committed to the University of Kansas to play wide receiver and walk onto the basketball team. He's be the highest ranked HS recruit ever for the Jayhawks football program and he chose KU over programs like Oklahoma and South Carolina. (04:45) The guys start the show by discussing the breaking news that Minor League Baseball has cancelled their entire season, thus cancelling the inaugural season for the Wichita Wind Surge at the brand new Riverfront Stadium in downtown Wichita. The guys discuss the disappointment, plus the negative impact this will have on the city of Wichita and whether or not the fighting between MLB and the Players Union that led to delays to start the Major League season led to the Minors being cancelled.
(22:10) It's a story that isn't pleasant to discuss, but Tommy and Weston tackle the issue at Kansas State University and the racist and offensive social media post that has the university in the national spotlight. What should the university do about the student? Weston puts on his attorney cap to give his opinion. How about the show of solidarity with all the student athletes at K-State? Is there a bigger problem going on in Manhattan?
(43:50) Cam Newton is now a Patriot. Simply asked...will the Patriots be a threat to the Chiefs in the AFC? Weston and Tommy discuss (the short answer is: No.)

The Wichita Business Journal wrote an article about new financial ambassadors for the tournament and Tommy and Weston talk all about how top notch the tournament is and how exciting it is that in the midst of negative sports stories, something positive continues with the golf tournament in the ICT.

Blake breaks down the adjustments and changes that Newman has in place due to COVID-19 for the fall sports season and beyond for Newman. The guys also discuss how smaller universities in NCAA DII and NAIA have to adjust in different ways than the big DI schools across the country. Blake also discusses the challenges in raising money for athletic departments in the current climate, plus the transition of Newman from the Heartland Conference to the MIAA.
(33:22) USD 397, Centre High School in Lost Springs (about an hour northeast of Wichita) has a positive COVID-19 case in a student athlete. Tommy, Weston and Blake debate what happens when a small, rural school district has a student athlete test positive. Should everything be shut down? How does this compare to a school in a bigger city? The guys discuss.
(45:20) Major League Baseball is back (we think)!. The League and Owners with the Union have set a 60 game schedule to launch in late July with a whole bunch of different terms and rules for the season. The guys discuss the changes and what impact it means on the season.

The guys debate the grade that Athletic Director Jeff Long deserves for his handling of the situation. Also, did the NCAA set a bad precedent with its punishment for the Oklahoma State Cowboys Level I violation and does that bode poorly for the Jayhawks with their investigation? Finally on this topic, KU has requested that its football and basketball violations be separated into different cases before the NCAA Committee on Infractions and the independent board.
(38:52) Stadium's Jeff Goodman and Brett McMurphy has ranked the Big 12's ten athletic directors based on their collective football and basketball hires. Joe Castiglione at OU is #1, but a surprising name at #2, KSU's Gene Taylor. KU's Jeff Long comes in 4th. The guys debate the ranking.
(45:39) The MLB Draft is underway at the time of this recording, and the Miami Marlins have selected pitcher Max Meyer from the University of Minnesota. Could we be seeing him as a member of the Wichita Wind Surge? Also, the Kansas City Royals with the 4th pick selected Asa Lacy, a lefty pitcher from Texas A&M. Some had him projected as the #1 overall pick, but he fell to #4 with the Royals.
(50:57) Our #WichitaWhiparound focuses on two topics. 1) TBT (The Basketball Tournament) picked its one quarantined site for the tournament this summer and it isn't Wichita, but it is Columbus, OH. Also, Wichita State's alumni team, the Aftershocks, won't be playing this year. 2) Kansas State University announced it would like to schedule future basketball games at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, as soon as the 2021 season.

The guys discuss if that's a sign there will be no baseball this year in Wichita, the commitment of the Marlins to take care of their guys and what that means for other organizations in baseball.
(22:34) The Basketball Tournament (TBT) announced that it will play its 2020 tournament this summer in one quarantined location over a 10 day span with 24 teams. Wichita's Charles Koch Arena is under consideration as that one quarantined location. The guys talk about if that is a good move for Wichita in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and if the tournament itself is even necessary.
(32:27) Bucklin, Kansas native and former Oklahoma State basketball coach Eddie Sutton passed away a few days ago at the age of 84. He was a legendary hoops coach and Tommy and Weston discuss his legacy as well as the pedigree of many top level college basketball coaches hailing from the Sunflower State.
(37:56) Kansas State basketball in the news as Kaosi Ezeagu has been granted an immediate waiver by the NCAA to play immediately for the Wildcats this upcoming season.

Clint Kinnamon comes to Wichita from St. John Hudson after 19 years of coaching boys basketball with a ton of success and Kansas state titles under his belt.
