There's gotta be somewhere out there named Lucifer, right? Someone had to have named their kid that as a joke or as some kind of weird curse. Have you ever met the devil? Probably sucks. The devil in this show is actually pretty sick, and for the record, we liked the show a lot even if we got off track. Our bad.

Gee whiz, we all watched a Miyazaki film this week! Wow! Wonder what Julie and John thought about it. Maybe perhaps they liked it? Or maybe John's weird Miyazaki vendetta still holds up? I dunno. Maybe all of our neuroses popped up and it became about other stuff in the meantime.

What should the episode description be? Julie? Uh something like, "John and Julie discuss the End of Evangelion and talk way too much about Twin Peaks in the process." Anything else? "Uh... sometimes too much IS too much. Too much of a good thing... there is such a thing."

Why Do People Like Puella Magi Madoka Magica is the correct name of the podcast, but for SEO purposes I shortened it. Sue me. This was a good one - John tries to make some weird metaphor about Brooklynite fake humbleness but it doesn't work too well. Maybe a better way to put it - you know when someone in town tells you he's taking his friends to a Burmese restaurant that weekend, and you know exactly the one he means because it's the one Burmese restaurant in town everyone knows (looking at you, Burma Superstar)? But they're trying to use it to increase their cultural cache? Maybe not the same thing, but similar vein, maybe that in reverse.

Anyways this show is a lot like the rainbow salad at Burma Superstar. Please email us -

Gotta give it up for Junji Ito, IMO. Great stuff right? What about the anime? Is that actually good? Find out. Also John goes maybe overboard on some death stuff. But, whatever.

We watched the sadnime called Violet Evergarden. Someone liked it more than the other person. John and Julie get into a "heated" debate. Also: is having a pen pal cool? Are texts letters? What was James Joyce's deal?

John and Julie Digivolve beyond having a discussion on Digimon: The Movie to talk about Haim Saban, the economics of children's television marketing, the power of translation and other stuff. I dunno. Ska. This movie fucking sucked. t's like seeing someone color in a really beautiful outline with dried out scented markers. A beautiful, perfect drawing of Agumon riding a tank. Something cool.

We watched Yuri!!! on Ice, the latest Meme anime. Is it a meme anime? I don't know. Maybe it's not. It was fun....or was it? Is the show for queer representation? Or is it a cynical way to get a fandom to fawn over characters without committing to their concept? Find out our thoughts. Maybe.

Present Day. Present Time. We watched Serial Experiments Lain, one of the wildest anime we've ever seen. We don't even really know what happened, so we decided to talk about cyberpunk fiction, the connection between spirituality and the internet, stuff like that. Plus, would the singularity be cool? Is Virtual Self the best artist of the last decade? Find out.

John and Julie have complained about excessive fan service in the past. But what happens when they watch a show that's entirely that? We watched Kill La Kill this week. I don't know if I should do these in third or first person. You will listen. You will hear us work around how the show is satire and punk. You will hear us answer questions at the end of the episode.

TRIGGER WARNING: SEXUAL ASSAULT RAPE SUICIDE BAD ANIME

This show was one of the worst things we've ever watched! Julie has never played an MMO and could not relate to it at all. John has played numerous MMOs and could not relate to it at all. Questions asked: What is a healthy relationship? Why is there fanservice in anime to begin with? What's a light novel? What are boob physics? WHY are boob physics?

Welcome back! John and Julie discuss the movie 'Mirai,' the latest movie by acclaimed director Mamoru Hosoda, most known for Digimon the Movie and bringing Ska to the masses. There is no ska in this movie, but there's a lot of big questions about familial dynamics, happenstance and talking dogs. There's a lot of beauty in the world. There's a lot of beauty in your lineage. John and Julie also assign points to their family members and match them against each other to determine who has the coolest family. Sort of. Maybe.

The big kahuna. Not for fans of surface reality. Maybe the reason why John wanted to start this podcast in the first place. Worth the hype? Good? Find out. Do robots matter? Does the self matter? What is the self reflected in the perception of those around you? Is it okay to hate people you don't know? Maybe. If you don't have an inner-monologue or interiority, watch something else.
