A 2018 study of children between the ages of 9 and 14 examined the association of spiritual faith in adolescence with mental health in young adulthood. The study found that young boys grounded at an early age in a relationship with God had greater psychological well-being, better physical health, greater character strength, and lower risks of mental illness, substance abuse and sexual promiscuity.
