In 2009, the SLO County APCD and many regional partners started the SLO Car Free Program. A program aimed at reducing air pollution from mobile emissions in our county. Travelers can get discounts and incentives for traveling to or around our county without their car. Find out more!
We say farewell to former Air Pollution Control Officer, Larry Allen, as he heads into retirement and we welcome incoming APCD, Gary Willey. Happy Retirement Larry! Thank you for dedicating over 35 years to protecting the blue skies in SLO County.
Welcome to Gary Willey as he moves into his new role as the SLO County APCD's Air Pollution Control Officer, following the retirement of APCO Larry Allen. Gary has worked at the APCD 27 years and looks forward to the challenges and opportunities in front of him!
School is now in full swing and APCD has several resources and tools to help local teachers, program coordinators and parents!
The Clean Air Ambassadors Program is a team of dedicated Cal Poly students that work for the APCD and are passionate about environmental education and inspiring future generations. The program is FREE to all educators and childcare programs.
Their fun and interactive lessons are geared for grades K-3 and 4-6. Each lesson is part of a 3-lesson series that supplements numerous California Science Content Standards and EEI Standards. While they focus on air quality and pollution, they also promote environmental literacy and sustainable practices.
