As you take your last gander at the Christmas Tree
and feel that hint of warm nostalgia, sadness, and/or
perhaps relief with the end of the holiday season,
enjoy this holiday classic performed by the legendary Nat King Cole,
"O Tannenbaum", which means Christmas tree in German. This is the
German version of "Oh Christmas Tree".
For educational purposes, lyrics included, transcript for Deaf:
O Tannenbaum lyrics
DEUTSCH
TEXT: Ernst Anschütz, 1824
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie treu sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur
zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie treu sind deine Blätter!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Wie oft hat nicht zur Weihnachtszeit
Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!
Dein Kleid will mich
was lehren:
Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit
Gibt Trost und Kraft
zu jeder Zeit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!
Das soll dein Kleid
mich lehren.
Literal English translation from Lyric Find
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree
How loyal are your leaves/needles!
You're green not only
in the summertime,
No, also in winter when it snows.
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree
How loyal are your leaves/needles!
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree
You can please me very much!
How often has not at Christmastime
A tree like you given me such joy!
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree,
You can please me very much!
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree
Your dress wants to
teach me something:
Your hope and durability
Provide comfort and strength
at any time.
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree,
That's what your dress should
teach me.
O Christmas Tree (Adapted English version)
Tony Bennett, London Symphony Orchestra
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
Such pleasure do you bring me
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
Such pleasure do you bring me
Every year this Christmas tree
Brings to us both joy and glee
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
Such pleasure do you bring me
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
Thy candles shine so brightly
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
Thy candles shine so brightly
Each bough does hold its tiny light
That makes each toy to sparkle bright
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
Thy candles shine so brightly.
We enjoyed spending 2019 with you and look back fondly on
new friends and memories that we made through disability advocacy
events over the past year. This piece is off the Celtic
Christmas album by Banna De Minstrels, Auld Lang Syne, which
means times long past. Now it's time to #Reflect on what we
learned and look forward with optimism in being able to start over
with #2020Vision.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
For auld lang syne
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne
And surely ye'll be your pint' stoup,
And surely I'll be mine
And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne
We twa hae run about the braes,
And pu'd the gowans fine,
And we've wander'd mony a weary foot
Sin' auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne
We twa hae paidl't in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin' auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne

What are 2 of your favorite holiday songs?
Ina: "Rocking around the Christmas Tree" and "Happy Holidays" written by Alfred Earl. And it's also my original.

DJ Ability: We'll look forward to it! What's is one of your favorite holiday traditions?
Ina: Going to my cousin's house for our Christmas Eve party.
DJ Ability: Nice! Is playing in the snow one of your favorite holiday traditions?

DJ Ability: Those are always fun and great to see! Hmmmmmm, speaking of which, you recently recorded
a song called "Playing in the Snow" with the help of your voice coach, Taylor Sappe.

"Playing in the Snow" Playing in the snow
©Taylor Sappe and Lisa Gates 2017
Verse
Mom woke up the TV's blasting
Look what the weatherman's forecasting
Snow! snow! snow!
Put on your boots, coat, and hat
Lets find where the biggest hill is at
Slide! slide! slide!
Chorus
Playin in the snow
Till we freeze our toes
Watchin' the snowflakes blow
Playin' in the snow
Playin' in the snow
Till it's time to go
Watchin' the snowflakes blow
Playin' in the snow
Verse
I'll meet you at school break
Get ready to fly on the frozen lake
Skate! skate! skate!
It's only cold when the wind blows
Lets fall down and make angels in the snow
Snow! snow! snow!
Chorus
Playin in the snow
Till we freeze our toes
Watchin' the snowflakes blow
Playin' in the snow
Playin' in the snow
Till it's time to go
Watchin' the snowflakes blow
Playin' in the snow
Bridge
Its time to come inside
Light a fire and sip our cocoa
Close our eyes just a little bit
And then we can get back to
Chorus
Playin in the snow
Till we freeze our toes
Watchin' the snowflakes blow
Playin' in the snow
Playin' in the snow
Till it's time to go
Watchin' the snowflakes blow
Playin' in the snow
