A podcast for Pineridge House Church sermons. We are casual about religion, but serious about God and His Bible as the standard for all our belief and conduct.
Apologies for the background static in this recording - we had an equipment/recording malfunction.
Note: there is some extra background static in the first 10-15 sec of Dan speaking, but it does improve after that (although doesn't fully go away).
Note: There is some background noise in the 2:30-3:30 min range, but it does go away after this.
Note: there is a change in audio around 26:30 as we had an equipment malfunction and had to re-record the rest of the sermon following it.
Note: Dan's audio is fairly quiet for the first minute, but then it gets louder and stays consistent for the rest of the recording.
From our joint service on Father's Day with Genesis House & Chapel House. Each pastor preached part of the sermon (Andrew Dexter, Dan Jansen, Bryce Clements).
There is some group work and questions asked during the session that we have edited out to ensure there's not too much empty space for you, our podcast listeners. Just wanted to share an explanation of why it may seem to jump around a bit.

2024-06-16 - We had our church plants join us today and so our sermons in this episode revolve around Friendship and the three speakers are, in order, Bryce Clements, Dan Jansen, and Andrew Dexter.
Hey everyone just a quick editors note, this sermon discusses some of the writing in Proverbs around sexuality and the drive humans have towards physical intimacy from a biblical perspective. Although there is nothing explicit in this episode, we just wanted to share that so our listeners were aware.
This is part one of a two part series.

Sorry for the delay in releasing these episodes! Our Editor has been super tied up!
Apologies for the Audio Quality on this one - our typical recording device had a failure this is captured from a phone.
He is Risen!
Something a little different this week we start out the podcast with our choir singing an original song written by Dan Jansen. If you'd like to skip right to the sermon you'll need to jump ahead to 2:57 seconds.
Enjoy!
Editor's Note - We had some issues with a microphone and so the first 1/3rd or so of this one cuts in and out a bit, we catch it pretty quick but just so you know it's not that way all the way through.
Hey everyone just a quick editing note - we had a few funny settings on Sunday morning so the first 3rd has some recording noise we couldn't eliminate. It gets better after the first 1/3rd.
Hey everyone just a quick note on this recording. We had an issue with our typical device and so we needed to use someones personal device! We'll be back to top quality next week!
LESSONS:
Jan 22nd Sermon - Recorded via iPad
Lessons:
1. Although times of testing may come in the life of a Christian, we must keep our allegiance to Jesus both internally and publicly (Rev. 3:8,10).
2. Going through tough times as a Christian appears to be inevitable and Christians are to be ok with this, but Jesus can at times give relief of that testing and therefore we can pray to that end (Rev. 3:10, Matthew 6:13).
3. Different levels of God’s approval on genuine Christians do not exist, rather Jesus will be collectively proud of His overcoming followers in heaven (Mark 14:3-8, Rev. 3:9b,11,12).
Lessons
Our faith in God is not dependant on circumstance (Num 21:7,8)
Overlooking our blessings can lead us to complain. (Exo 16:3, 17:3, Num 21:5)
Complaining to God is the same as testing God (Num 14:22, 21:5, 1 Cor 10:9)
We must be careful not to worship ritual over God (2 Kings 18:4)
Lessons
Although it is not a damnable offence Christian’s are marry another Christian’s so as to avoid being taken away from the faith (1 Cor 7:8,9,39, 1 Tim 5:11,12, Deut 7:1-6)
Although remaining single as a widow is a preferred choice, getting remarried to a godly man and raising godly offspring would be better if she were surrounded by lazy widows who were caught up with being busybodies, gossips, and sexually indiscriminate. (1 Cor 7:39,40, 1 Tim 5:11-14)
Apart from being generally devoted to every good deed the resume of a godly wife includes being faithful to her husband, raising her children, hospitable, humbly serving other Christians, and helping those in distress.
Lessons
As it would be done in a healthy family, correction is to be done with patience and care to restore those who have sinned back to spiritual health. (2 Timothy 4:2)
Public figures like pastors and elders and public sins are corrected differently in the church community than laypeople and private sins. (James 3:1, Matthew 18, Galatians 2:11,14)
Sins within worship gatherings are corrected differently than those outside. (1 Corinthians 11, John 2)
Embraced sins are corrected differently than slip-ups. If they reject Christianity you are to treat them as a tax collector.
Lessons
1. The qualities of eldership are what all Christians should be striving for. (Imitating Christ 1 Cor 1:11)
a. Being generous Proverbs 11:25, Philippians 2:4
b.Carry peace into every situation Deut 20:10-18, Titus 3:2
c.Being content with what you have 1 Timothy 6:8
d. Avoiding the desires of the flesh Galatians 5:19-21
2. Elders should not let their unhealthy fixation be their foundation (1 Timothy 6:4)
3. Godly managing of one’s household consists of serving and guarding (Genesis 2:15, Numbers 18:7, 1 Timothy 3:4,5)
4. Potential elders’ family and specifically their kids are to be their greatest resume (1 Timothy 3:4)
5. Discipline produces submissive kids, and submissive kids’ trust and obeys their parents (Prov 13:1, 22:15)
Lessons
The Devil is active in the disguising the message of the world to seduce people into embracing his ways, while at the same time laying traps among believers to destroy the church (1 Timothy 3:7, 1 John 5:19, 2 Corinthians 11:14, Ephesians 2:2, 1 Peter 5:8)
Service ministry in the church is necessary for:
A. Building up of the church body (1 Corinthians 12:7)
B. To enable pastors to devote themselves to a preaching/ teaching/ discipleship role. (Acts 6:2,7, 1 Peter 4:11, Matthew 28:19)
Lessons
Christian’s elders who work hard especially at preaching and teaching are to be full-time labour’s (1 Tim 5:17,18, 1 Cor 9:3-14)
Christian teachers are to work hard at their devotion to Gods truth so as to effectively leads Gods people in thinking and behaving biblically as modelled by Jesus (Mark 1:38, John 17:4,8, Matt 28:19, Luke 10:7-16)
All sources of influence in a persons life from governments, to cultures, to companions, to teachers, to human nature must be examined by the standard of Gods Truth before they are embraced (Dan 1-3, Rom 13, 1 Peter 2, Acts 10:28,34,35, 2 Peter 2:15, John 17:17, Luke 9:23, Prov 14:12, Deut 30:15-20)
Lessons:
1. There are those who are ‘called’ to the office of an overseer (Paul Acts 9), while others aspire to it (1 Timothy 3:1)
2. The elder in the Christian church is to have the following characteristics:
A. Although not flawless, his character is exemplary (see also Hebrews 13:7)
B. He is faithful to one woman only, his wife.
C. He is even-keeled in emotional stability, especially in disagreements or accusations.
D. He conveys wise objective judgment.
E. He merits respect from those who know him
F. His home is open and committed to hospitality.
G. He is able to handle the Word of God accurately in both teaching sound doctrine and refuting those who contradict it.
Lessons
1. In order for unity to be maintained in the church there must be freedom for Christians to express their opinions without judgment or contempt because this is God’s will for the church through Jesus (Romans 14:1-10)
Conservative Christians will approach certain categories in life with revered speculation for a variety of reasons, whereas the liberal Christians will approach those same categories with more freedom (Romans 14:1-10)
Even though Christians may talk about their different approaches to life’s categories, they are to pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another (Romans 14:5, 19)
Lessons
No problem can arise for God's people of which the Lord is not aware, and from which He cannot deliver them, provided their hearts are fully His (2 Chronicles 16:7-12, Luke 12:31).
The fruit of one's godly decisions will impact their life on earth positively (2 Chronicles 14:13-15, Proverbs 21:20, Isaiah 3:10, Psalm 128:1,2).
The benefits of health or wealth from living a godly life are not to become our security, as God is our hope, not our good circumstances (2 Chronicles 16:2,7,12).
Godly people overcome times of uncertainty by rejoicing in the Lord (Habakkuk 3:18-20.)
Having children is God’s design for all married men and women (Genesis 1:28, 9:1)
To reject God’s gender-specific roles to men (i.e. provisional care) and women (i.e.child bearing) is to put their salvation at risk (1 Timothy 2:15, 5:8)
God has specifically designated women to raise their children, especially in their early years (1 Timothy 5:10, 1 Samuel 1:11-2:11, Proverbs 31, Titus 2:3-5)
The role of bearing and raising young children is what restricts women from taking the office of an overseer, as seen through the following:
A. Married women are the assumed audience in 1 Timothy (1 Tim. 2:15, 3:2,12)
B. The restriction is regarding the office of an overseer/elder as seen in 1 Timothy 3:1 and in 1 Timothy 5:17,18.
C. Having and raising children is the role of the married woman
(1 Tim. 2:15, 5:10 - see also 1 Sam 1:11 - 2:11)
Events in the garden of Eden affected the roles of men and women in life, but these in no way affected their equal worth before God
(1. Tim. 2:13,14; Genesis 3:16,17 - see also Genesis 29:32).
Women who have chosen to remain single for the purpose of serving the Lord (1 Cor. 7:23-34) or women who have already raised their children, are not addressed in 1 Timothy 2. and therefore neither would be forsaking their primary role of motherhood if they were to choose the office of a teaching elder.
The difficult and often discouraging ministry of a 'turn around' pastor requires encouragement from solid believers (1 Timothy 1:18,19).
Proofing profits have had a predictive prophecy come true (Samuel: 1 Samuel 3:19,30 & 9:6; the other O.T. Prophets, Agabus (Acts 11:28), the apostle John (Revelation 2:10), Paul (Acts 20:29,30).
Processes can be predictive (1 Samuel 3:18,19; Acts 20:29,30) reveal hidden sinful activities (2 Samuel 12), offer unique teachings to specific church contexts (Revelation 2,3), and give general exhortation to churches (1 Corthinians 14).
Blaspheming the gospel message can occur among those who once were part of the genuine faith (1 Timothy 1:20, 6:1)
Releasing someone from the fellowship of the church to the realm of the secular world (i.e. handing over to Satan) for either locking themselves into sinful practices or abandoning the true gospel message, is to be redemptive a purpose (1 Timothy 1:20, 1 Corinthians 5:5).
The first sermon in a new series on the book of 1 Timothy, covering the verses 1 through 7.
The Christian teaching on love (1 Timothy 1:5). is centered on godly character:
A. From a pure Heart - that has dealt with sin
B. A good conscience - free from internal accusation.
C. A Sincere faith - expressed in one's daily walk with God
Any church leaders that do not teach love as their goal, ought to be held in suspect (1 Timothy 1:3-7)
