This week it’s our final chat from the NW200 and TT races as we sit down with a man who holds the record for the most TT starts in history and at 68 years of age he’s showing no signs of stopping – he was the first man to reach 100 starts at the TT and despite personal tragedy, he proudly continues to race at the NW200 and his beloved TT races.

This week's show is the first of three from the brilliant North West 200 road races. In this opening episode we sit down with WTF Racing's James Hillier, a man who's 9 podiums and a race win around the Triangle and was Man of the Meeting in 2019, he's also contested 71 TT races, finishing 65 of them with 14 podiums and victory in the 2014 Lightweight TT. If that wasn't enough James contested the 2023 Dakar Rally, a brutal race across the Saudi desert... It's a fascinating listen.

Motorcycle racing is a tough old sport... we hear plenty about the good times but very little about the not-so-good times, even though there are plenty! Lincolnshire twins Tim and Tom (and yes, just like the Lowes twins, I can actually tell them apart :-)) came late to the tarmac by modern standards after glittering careers in Flat Track racing. 2023 posed problems for both fellas with Tom in his second year at Honda Racing and Tim promoted to the factory-supported McAMS Yamaha squad. Was it too much too soon for both? I'll let them tell you. But on a more positive note, spending the weekend at the VR46 Ranch for the annual 100km Race with McPint as team manager was a phenomenal experience for them and it really made me happy to see the lads excited to tell the story - especially in a world where being openly unexcited about things is more the norm in the younger generation.

This week we’re joined by Crew Chief to Josh Brookes at FHO Racing, Mark Woodage. It was a rollercoaster season in 2023, early season wins in BSB didn’t translate to the championship challenge that rider or crew chief had hoped, while a return to road racing saw the NW200 curtailed before a return to the glorious Isle of Man TT races, the season rounded out with Josh making his Macau debut with Mark by his side. Both rider and crew chief continue again in 2024 and they’re ready for the challenge.

After a chance meeting in a Lincoln building society, Frankie Carchedi never looked back as he entered the world of motorcycle racing under the guidance of the great Colin Wright. Three BSB titles, multiple WorldSBK race wins, a MotoGP championship with Joan Mir and Suzuki before moving to Gresini Racing and helping Fabio di Giannantonio to his maiden MotoGP victory at Qatar last season. 2024 holds a different proposition for Frankie as 6-time MotoGP World Champion, Marc Marquez, joins the Gresini family under his watchful eye. Finally, he's back! Fan favourite Michael Howarth joins us for a chat in the cafe at equine charity HAPPA just outside Burnley. Ian Simpson has 5 British Championships, 3 TT wins, 5 NW200 race wins and 3 Ulster GP wins to his name - on top of that Simmo is the only man to win Superbike and Supersport titles in the same season as well as winning a Superbike race, a Supersport race and Superstock race in a season before a succession of leg injuries brought his stellar domestic career to an early close. A humble man with an incredible story!

Chris 'Spanner' Anderson is a well-known face around the British Superbike paddock, most recently as Crew Chief to Tarran Mackenzie both in BSB and World Supersport but his experience stretches back way beyond that. From starting out with Roger Bennett, then Reve Racing before World Supersport beckoned then back to BSB as well as the Roads with Hutchy. It's been a colourful career for Chris, but his next challenge is another he's really looking forward to as Crew Chief for Danny Kent in the newly-formed McAMS Yamaha by Mar-Train Racing squad for '24.

He's a three-time British Superbike Champion, he's a multiple 500cc Grand Prix podium man and has raced iconic 2-stroke Grand Prix 500cc motorcycles from the Honda NSR500 to the Yamaha YZR500 to the Suzuki RGV500 and a couple of 250s thrown in for good measure. Cap it all off with a hattrick of back-to-back titles with the famous Cadbury's Boost Yamaha team and you have a pretty special career. Ladies and gentlemen, it's Niall Mackenzie!

From MCN Road Tester to running the UK California Superbike School and even coaching Valentino Rossi himself before a near-death stroke left him rebuilding his life. Craig Neve is a true racing privateer contesting National Superstock and the Ducati TriOptions Cup in BSB and the major Road Races (when they return in '22). A late starter in the sport Craig, is open and honest about his journey so far and the difficulties involved both physically and financially.
Dan Jones has been racing competitively for what seems like forever and with a trophy-filled history in the sport already, it came as some surprise that Dan's had his struggles within the sport and within himself, too. It's not a chat to be taken lightly in some places, equally he has a wicked sense of humour, and it's one that slightly put Dave on the back foot but credit to Dan for telling his story.
We're on pit wall with Australia's Ben Currie at Silverstone ahead of the BSB weekend.
