The Homeboys is a podcast where two childhood friends sit around and spew nonsense about pop culture and make recommendations for your weekly entertainment. Basically, we talk and find good stuff you can watch, listen to, or do for the week ahead. But, half the time we're talking about whatever we want. Think of it as chilling in our basement or a grown up treehouse. Cover art photo provided by Levi Saunders on Unsplash: https://unsplash.com/@levisaunders
Your favourite homies Shoe and Dooms are back to hit you with sumthin different this time. We recorded our live reactions on audio to the newly debuted anime Yasuke on Netflix. If you want a fantasy take on feudal Japan and a black samurai (based on a real life black samurai) from the minds of the homie who brought you The Boondocks - check out our first episode reaction. Remember to subscribe and spread the word of our show - peace!
In this episode, your favourite homeboys roll through with no breaks completely uncut. Shoe and Dooms shout out healthcare workers, talk about purchase worthy films, GSP and of course, one of the GOATs of rap and urban music: DMX. Shout out to the big dog hope the man found peace.
In this episode, Shoe and Dooms record past their grown ass men bedtimes but still manage to come up with a totally random sequence of pop culture topics. We talk race, culture, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, KFC popcorn chicken on pizza, the NBA player obsession with the Kardashians and the Simpsons (among other things).
It's been a minute (more like an hour) and your favourite homies Shoe and Dooms are back after a hiatus. We recorded this while watching Ngannou Stipe 2 and play around with a format where we review the latest in streaming, pop culture and sports. We make our recommendations and bring you that ultimate "chilling in the basement" feel. Come hang with us as we talk the latest and greatest in entertainment and give our take on which McDonald's character we'd rather be roommates with.
After 10 episodes, we have officially settled on our podcast format. We still goin be talking shit and waxing poetic about whatever, but we use the most recent movies, shows, and pop culture events as jump-off points. In this episode, we talk Altered Carbon, Floor is Lava and go off from there.
After what seemed to be way too long, we made it to double digit episodes. We start by talking Netflix film Extraction and go off into Napoleon Dynamite, A Bronx Tale, and legendary Metal Gear Solid gaming moments.
In this special episode, we talk to our good friend and former guest on the show Sid. Sid recounts his trek back throughout the Americas. We talk more nonsense and reminisce about fun times at all you can eat sushi.
This episode is coming at y'all during some crazy times. We talk social distancing, cleanliness, and junk food we either eating or wish to eat once we can sit in restaurants again. We do this on the pod but shout out and all our support to the healthcare, grocery, delivery workers out there (or anyone still going out to work and making things bettet for us)! Cant thank y'all enough. Stay in and stay safe. If you out and about listening to this get your @$$ back home.
Forgive the cutting in and outs and the interruptions first of all but we keepin’ it real up in here. Real life business gets in the way of things but we keeping it raw and uncut for y'all. In this extra long episode recorded over 2 weeks we make our totally wrong picks for the now over Bones vs Reyes fight, talk some sneakers and draft our greatest rappers. Holla at us @homeboyspodcast on Instagram to agree/disagree with our teams.
It's a new year, a new decade and we are back! It feels amazing to get back to doing what we love and just speaking our unfiltered thoughts. We talk about the return of Conor McGregor, The Mandalorian and The Witcher. But all jokes aside we begin the pod talking about the tragic passing of Kobe Bean Bryant - an icon who meant so much to so many. This episode is dedicated to the Black Mamba, his beautiful daughter, those who were on the helicopter with him, and the Bryant family. Appreciate what you have today and every day.
Apologies for the brief hiatus but real life responsibilities beckoned (and are constantly beckoning). Further delay was caused by numerous takes and obscene amounts of junk needed to be edited out. The Homeboys are back with a reunion episode where childhood friends Son of Ben and Sid join in to discuss all things Marvel and DC. Hilarity ensues.
Holla at us @homeboyspodcast on Instagram to keep up with the drop schedule and updates. Your friendly neighborhood homies are back this week with a focus on anime and manga. A bit of a delay on the drop this week but we go extra long (and had to actually do some editing this time). We talk Astro Boy, Akira, and of course Dragon Ball. That and some adult content aka anime's skanky cousin. Tune in and let us know what you think @homeboyspodcast on IG.
As was hyped in episode 2, your homies are back this week with the trey and episode 3 is on all things pro wrestling. We go through a fantasy draft of pro wrestling heroes (faces) and villains (heels) and discuss all things WWF (yes, WWF) and WCW. Tune in if you smell what the Homeboys are cooking.
More 90's goodness from The Homeboys. On this episode, Shoe and Doom discuss 90's movies. Sound editing and podcasting game still in rookie mode so bear with some technical difficulties. Take a trip down memory lane as we talk Arnold, Wesley Snipes, Alien vs Predator and more. Holla at us on Instagram at @homeboyspodcast. Let us know what you think and fact check us cuz we know we must've effed up somewhere in this recording.
It's the drop! This is the premiere episode of The Homeboys podcast - a show in which two childhood friends discuss everything from the Super Nintendo to John Wick films. We also pretty much give our two cents on everything under the sun or pop culture related.
