Nicole first joined my Full Time Wedding Photography course as a student—and today, she’s a strong and steady voice inside the Wedding Photography Society. Watching her grow from “just starting out” to building a solid foundation for her photography business has been so inspiring.

In this conversation, Nicole shares what it actually looks like to transition from a full-time job (in her case, accounting!) into a full-time photography career. We talked about the timeline, the challenges, and the mindset it takes to make the leap. She was so honest and generous with her story, and I know it will speak to anyone walking this same path.

In this episode, I dive into the real journey of balancing motherhood with a high-stress job. Through my personal story, I recount the steep learning curve of those initial three weeks of breastfeeding and the perseverance it requires. EDITING. It is commonly a photographer’s LEAST favorite part of the job! Wouldn’t it be great if we could just take the pictures and everything already be PERFECT? That just isn’t how photography works.

Needless to say, post processing is a HUGE part of photography - and what really makes your images unique and stand out from others.

In this video, I am going to tell you what I use in my wedding photography business that helps me get the job done more easily and efficiently!

  • How to define yourself as an artist.
  • What inspires Ale and what it means to truly BE inspired!
  • How to create emotional, ethereal videos and content as an artist
  • How to set boundaries in business, with work and personal life

If you work in the wedding or events industry, it’s safe to say you know just how important getting published is. It allows for your work to get exposure and for your name to get out there into the world. 95% of couples use blogs and magazines to plan their wedding, and publications are the way to get in front of those couples. But the process can be daunting—and not to mention time consuming. Researching which publication will be a good fit, compiling images, getting content from your client… all for potential rejection that will leave you back at square one.

That’s where my guest on the podcast today steps in! Meghan Brown is the manager of Two Bright Lights, a submissions platform that allows photographer and vendors to submit images of their event for publication. The genius behind her company is that you just have to fill out one submissions package! They partner with 100s of publications for just about anything and everything, and you can submit to as many of them as you want with just a couple of clicks. It has truly revitalized and changed the way publications are submitted!

It’s scale, budget, look, details, and quality all working together to create an experience. It’s not just being able to dream something up, but also being able to execute. Our guest on the podcast today is the incredible Kim Starr Wise, and her work is luxury in every sense of the word.
