On Voices and Views on KCMJ, Judith interviews Laura Mucha, author of "Love Understood: The Science of Who, How and Why We Love."
He first non-fiction book for adults, Love Factually (UK and Australia) / Love Understood (US) was published by Bloomsbury in January. She also narrated the audiobook on Audible. The book explores love by combining academic research with interviews she conducted with hundreds of strangers across 40 countries on every continent.
She studied psychology, philosophy and flying trapeze, worked as a face painter and swam in Antarctica before becoming a lawyer for an international law firm. Then, when she was hit by a car (at 29,) she decided to change career – she's now an award-winning poet, author, broadcaster, performer and speaker. She writes for adults and children, runs writing workshops in schools and theatres, and has spoken / performed at venues such as the Royal Institution and Wigmore Hall, as well as on radio and TV.

The Independent Film Society of Colorado (IFSOC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed to promote the appreciation and celebration of Independent film in Colorado. Specifically, the mission and purpose is to bring Independent filmmakers and audiences together to cultivate a thriving film community by having events such as the Indie Spirit Film Festival, film seminars, and film series.
In addition to showing films at festivals and film series, IFSOC will work to provide channels for Colorado filmmakers to network with others within their field as well as with the general public. We celebrate and support Independent film.
Peak Film Forum offers the opportunity to meet others in the Colorado Springs area working or interested in the filmmaking process. Come network, and get constructive feedback on scripts and scenes. We have also presented discussions with experts in our community on specialized topics such as makeup, wardrobe, crowdfunding, casting, marketing, and more! The Indie Spirit Film Festival is an annual event for filmmakers (professionals and students) and film lovers alike, with a superb program of feature films, shorts, docs, animation, and many other films from around the world. The ISFF showcases the work of independent filmmakers amidst the mountainous backdrop of Colorado Springs, Colorado, just one hour south of Denver. ISFF is about filmmakers, audiences and film professionals establishing a relationship and supporting independent film. ISFF has showcased an average of 50 films from all over the globe, covering a variety of subjects and genres in three years. The festival has quickly become Colorado Springs' largest film festival, with numerous filmmakers and film fans attending screenings, Q & A sessions, filmmaker panels, parties and receptions. Boasting a broad, unrestricted selection of films, ISFF presents genre-specific awards, as well as Best Short, Feature, Documentary and Festival Director's Choice. Several films from previous years have achieved further success on the festival circuit and many films from previous years are available on DVD.

Citizens Project is a fearless, bold advocate and an engaging voice that empowers and challenges our entire community to embrace equality, diversity, and separation of church and state. Their next event is at January 18, 2020 at 9:30 am - 11:30 am, at Colorado Technical University, 4435 N Chestnut St, Colorado Springs. The subject is "Voter Suppression in Colorado: What You Need to Know". Voter suppression is a strategy used to influence the outcome of an election by discouraging or preventing specific groups of people from voting. In 2013, the United States Supreme Court ruled in Shelby v. Holder that voting laws had resulted in voter suppression and discrimination. The AAUW Colorado Springs Branch Public Policy committee members have developed a program to address the means by which voter suppression is manifested in our election process. Deb Walker, Executive Director Citizen’s Project, will lead the program which will include active interaction. All who wish to will participate in discerning and exploring the variety of voter suppression tactics. They are participating in Indi Give 2019.
