We start 2021 with SEASON 3 of ADOI! What a powerful and intense story we will hear from Selin Özünaldım is a 17-year-old activist from Istanbul, Turkey. She is the youngest representative of UN Women’s global gender equality movement called HeForShe in Turkey. She is also one of the 300 teenagers who were selected by the United Nations from around the world as one of the Gender Youth Activists.
She has worked with different robotics teams for women empowerment in STEM and brought the Girls who Code movement to Turkey and taught coding to 30 thousand children.
She is the Co-Founder of the ‘#GirlsWhoFIRST’ movement which is about encouraging young girls to take place in STEM and has reached more than 10 million young girls.
She has also co-written a number of research papers about human trafficking, youth unemployment, education of women in the East, and violence against women.
At such a young age she has also founded ‘We Ground Zero,’ a video platform in which they interview to inspire and empower Gen Z by listening to successful people who made a difference in the world.
Along with working with UNGEI for girl's education-related issues, she has also founded the first ‘Girl Up’ in Turkey. She has been recently selected as one of the 28 people by Girl Rising to be a member of the Young Leaders Task Force.
She wants to reach more, inspire, and empower more! She wants to share her story, and be the voice of young girls in Turkey and help them to find their voices.

She is the Director of the School of Cinema and Full Professor of Cinema Studies and a Member of the Graduate Faculty in Sexuality Studies at San Francisco State University. A former Full Professor at the University of California at Santa Barbara for 15 years, she is an author and an award-winning film scholar and filmmaker. Some of her published books are The Proximity of Other Skins: Ethical Intimacy in Global Cinema (Oxford University Press, 2020), Straitjacket Sexualities (Stanford University Press, 2012), and The Hypersexuality of Race (Duke University Press, 2007)—winner of the Best Book in Cultural Studies from the Association for Asian American Studies in 2009. She has also made award-winning films which include Birthright: Mothering Across Difference (2009), The Fact of Asian Women (2004), and Super Flip (1997). In this episode, we will talk about her second feature film which she wrote, directed, and produced entitled The Celine Archive. The story of a Filipina who migrated to the United States in Stockton, California hoping for a better life but was unexpectedly denied by a gruesome tragedy when she was buried alive.

Just a few weeks ago, on the 25th -26th of October 2019 the Philippines made history! The very first Climathon, a climate solutions hackathon by the UK based Non-Profit Organization, Climate-KIC was hosted by PASIG CITY; together with HiFi (City Enabler) of the College of St. Benilde, SCALE Solutions & Future Proof PH (Organizers). The climathon happened simultaneously around the world in over 100 cities and across 46 countries- this event was focused on getting both the public and private sectors to collaborate in finding solid waste and mobility solutions that affect our climate.
In this episode, we will talk to Team Cloop, who won first place and find out more about their solution- which will be implemented in Pasig City. Team Cloop is composed of four young individuals from the Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, namely Ricardo Alindayu II, from Baranggay Kapitolyo Pasig City, Leslie Anne Yasis from Makati City, Glenn Adrian Ongpin and Alexis Espina from Mandaluyong City, (Alexis was not in the climathon as he was in a boot camp)

Last October 25- 26, 2019 the Philippines made history! The very first Climathon, a climate solutions hackathon by the UK based organization Climate-KIC was hosted by the city of Pasig; together with HiFi (City Enabler) of the College of St. Benilde, SCALE Solutions & Future Proof (Organizers). The climathon happened simultaneously around the world in over 100 cities and across 46 countries- this event was focused on getting both the public and private sectors to collaborate in finding solid waste and mobility solutions that affect our climate.
In this episode, we will talk to one of the winners whose solution will be implemented in Pasig City. Team Sari-cycling is composed of six original members namely Niels Nable from Brgy. Bagong Ilog Pasig City, Juvien Galano from Bacoor Cavite, Prisando Francisco from Brgy. Pineda Pasig City, Bramwell Gonzales from Brgy. Sta Lucia Pasig City, Railey Montalan from Marinduque and now living in Mandaluyong City (was not able to join the interview because he was at work). They also have a new addition to their team who will be joining them during the implementation-Clowee Licsi from Brgy. Sto Tomas Pasig City.
