G’day and thanks for joining me this week!

Mike Allsop joins me for the second time on the show this week. Mike first came on the show, way, way back in Episode 9!
Mike’s always been in sales, working for household brands like Tefal & Jamie Oliver. A few years back, he pivoted from selling on Amazon, to helping and supporting inventive, mostly Australian brands get into retail.
Today we talk about how he’s helped Brands utilize TV Shopping through the likes of QVC in the states, TVSN here in Australia and other countries. He also has retail and distribution connections globally which he leverages to help Brands get into Retail in the USA, Europe and many other markets.
To add the cherry on top, Mike has dozens of connections with the Federal and State grants bodies here in OZ to help fund your international expansion.
If you’d like to have a no-obligation chat with Mike, you can contact him directly on 0409 204 716.

Dominic from Think 4 Earth started selling reusable bread bags on Amazon USA just 5 short years ago, straight out of High School.
As you’ll hear in today’s conversation, Dominic’s a bit of a self starter and a hell of a go-getter!
About 9 months ago, he sent a package of his bread bags (and a nice letter) to Baker’s Delight (Australia’s largest nationwide bakery chain).
Fast forward to today and his bags are in 50 stores across Australia.
He still sells his bags at the markets on the weekend to stay in touch with his customers, and has huge plans for the future.

Jim Vrondas from World First joins me today and we chat about the importance of Supplier Relations, actually visiting your suppliers rather than relying just on Alibaba for your sourcing needs from afar.
At the Amazon Collective back in March, Jim did a presentation about Forward Contracts which sound might sound a bit ‘dry’ but in reality can eliminate your currency movement risks and is super easy to set up.
Speaking of Jim, he invited me to speak alongside other ecommerce experts at the free World First event next Thursday 1st of August. If you’d like to register for free, head over to www.theaustralianseller.com/worldfirst

Steven Selikoff returns to the Podcast this week to fill us in on the latest development by Amazon to try and take on the Chinese eCommerce juggernauts with the likes of Temu, Shien, AliExpress, Tik Tok and others.
These platforms have been taking advantage of a customs rule known as De Minimis, which, in most countries, allows cheap, small parcel deliveries from China and other countries to be excluded from customs duties and tariffs.
Us 3rd Party sellers, shipping goods in bulk to FBA are generally subject to duties, taxes and tariffs before we can even sell our products, so we’re at a bit of a disadvantage.
Steven says that Amazon is courting factories in China right now, and inviting them to participate in Amazon’s new ‘factory direct’ program.
What form or shape Amazon’s new program will take is uncertain. We don’t know if it will be a new standalone website platform, or if it’ll be integrated into Amazon.com somehow.
Time will tell.
Today, Steven offers tips for 3rd Party sellers to remain in business as the stormclouds gather around us! If you’re still selling ‘Me too’ products, you won’t stand a chance.
Steven’s Canton Fair Trip is coming up in October, so if you want to stay ahead and join Steven on his China Product Sourcing and Development Trip, simply visit www.cantonfair2024.com and use the coupon code Chris500 to save $500!

My good friend Peter Everett joined me for a chat about how he’s been gradually expand his small brand around the world using Amazon. Today we chat about how he got started in the USA, before setting up in Australia. From Australia, the next Amazon stop was Singapore and then onto Amazon UK.
In March 2023 he listed some of his products on Amazon India, and the results blew him away.
As a marketplace, Amazon India is a sleeping giant, so if you can through all the red tape and taxes, you may find it to be the most profitable Marketplace you can sell in.
This coming Thursday 4th July, there’s an Amazon meetup down here in Melbourne, from 5pm until 8.00pm at the Emerald Peacock bar in Lonsdale Street. Feel free to come join us there whether you’re an Amazon seller or not!
I’m also speaking in Sydney at a World First event on the 1st of August. There will be an event landing page shortly, so stay tuned for more details on that one…

Today I interview Ben Webber, an Amazon legend, who started selling retail arbitrage on Amazon back in 2014. He was driving his truck all over the country, searching for liquidations and bargains so he could list those products on Amazon and make a tidy profit. With his buddies, they were able to scale to $3 Million per year!
They quickly realised that the retail arbitrage model wasn’t a sustainably scalable business, so they pivoted to Private label in 2016 and things took off after they were interviewed on a popular radio show in the USA. An interesting way to launch a product on Amazon, that’s for sure!
They now have 9 Brands, with hundreds of SKU’s selling both on Amazon and Walmart, last year selling over $50 million.
Amongst lots of gold nuggets, Ben chats about his latest product research tactic, buying product patents from Patent owners to create defensible product lines.
So come join Ben at the Amazon Collective!

This week I chat with Chris, who is a professional Australian photographer based up in Queensland. Chris & his wife Sonia’s extensive knowledge of photography helped them to develop their product line in the baby Category on Amazon USA.
In just a couple of years, they’ve gone from $60K in their first year, $320K in 2023 and they’re looking at $800K this year in 2024 with just one product and a handful of variations.
Their margins are sensational and they enjoy healthy profits in spite of all the new fees Amazon’s imposed on us sellers.
We talk about the methods they’ve employed to keep their fees as low as possible. We discuss variation strategies, and their plans for Marketplace expansion and growth for this year.

To give you some idea of just how big their business has become in the last 18 months or so, they spend over 6 figures a month on social media advertising. Well, in this episode, we dive into the importance of transitioning from an ‘Amazon Seller” to becoming a “Business owner” by mastering the 3 C’s. The aim is to become financially confident so you can make the best decisions for your business.

In today’s episode I’m chatting to Amazon PPC legend George Meressa from Clear Ads – a UK-based company that manages Amazon Advertising for sellers.
Aside from regular sponsored advertising, George has one of the few agencies in the world with access to Amazon’s DSP, which enables his team to Advertise to customers both on (and crucially), off Amazon.
I have to admit I know nothing about DSP, so in today’s episode George breaks the whole concept of DSP down into plain english and explains who it’s for and its Pro’s and Con’s.

Today I’m chatting with my good friend Jamie Paros about 2022, with both of us holding Amazon Seller events like the Amazon Collective, End Game and of course, Southern Seller Fest.
We also chat about Jamie’s latest project, SkuDrop which, if you’re manufacturing in China, is a total game changer for Amazon sellers exporting from China to the USA, and soon, UK and Australian FBA Warehouses. Instead of shipping all your goods to Amazon directly or to a 3PL, you ship your goods after production to one of SkuDrop’s Chinese warehouses and generate small-medium daily, weekly or monthly Amazon shipping plans for just-in-time inventory replenishment. This is going to save sellers $1000’s of dollars per year.
To take advantage of Jamie’s 6 months free membership (USD $54 saving) head to www.theaustralianseller.com/skudrop and use code: SDAUSSIESELLER at checkout.

Today’s guest is Sophie Howard, a mum of 2 young kids, who’s built and sold her Amazon businesses from the South Island of New Zealand.
She’s a lifestyle business advocate who balances entrepreneurial and family life to create 6 and 7 figure businesses.
She takes us on her journey from how she chose her first product from Nepal all the way through to the coaching work she does now to help you start your journey selling on Amazon!
Along the way, she’s travelled and sourced products to sell on Amazon from India, Morocco, Budapest, China, India, Sri Lanka, the USA, New Zealand and more.
She truly has created incredible Amazon businesses by going completely against the mainstream ‘tactical’ approach most Amazon courses and gurus espouse. Her approach to product selection and sourcing is fascinating and fun.
Sophie is coming to Australia this week to do a live and free speaking tour around the country about how to make a healthy income selling products on Amazon.
