In Genesis 4-5, we see the fall of mankind into sinfulness and decay. Just one generation after walking with God, the first person commits murder. After the murder, Cain and his family grow in their depravity. As this is taking place, Adam and Eve were likely wondering if God’s promise of a savior would ever happen. But just when it seemed like nothing would happen, God steps in and sends them a new son, Seth.
What we need to always remember is this: God’s promises always triumph!

Starting in this chapter, Daniel 7, the book takes a dramatic shift from stories about God working through Daniel and his friends to Daniel’s visions. These visions are considered apocalyptic literature, which is a unique style of writing that uses a lot of symbolism to talk about the future. While this chapter is full of beasts and fear, it is also clear that Jesus will be victorious in the end. While many know the basic story there is so much more than what a few pictures can convey. In this passage, Pastor Kyle explains the story and also talks about what we, as modern readers, can learn from it. In the midst of this passage is a story about not bowing down to idols. In the last part of chapter 16, Paul gives two final statements. First, he talks about the importance of avoiding divisive people who try to deceive Christians from following the gospel message. Second, he describes who God is and ends the chapter by praising him. Pastor Kyle explains the importance of these two things and shows how we can do these in our own lives as well. In this final chapter of Romans, Paul has a number of last words for the churches in Rome. All of it can be summed up with this statement: don’t lose focus. Paul starts out in verses 1-16 by giving a number of greetings. What can we learn from greetings like this? Pastor Kyle gives two things to think about based on this passage. Last week’s sermon, looking at the end of chapter 14, dealt with letting our conscience guide us on disputable matters. Paul looks at things from a different perspective at the beginning of chapter 15 and emphasizes the importance of putting the needs of the weak over the strong. How does one deal with disputable matters? In this sermon, Pastor Kyle continues talking about how we navigate issues that aren’t clear in Scripture but that people have strong opinions on. Romans 14 deals with Christians who have different opinions. In Paul’s situation, the church did not know how to address those that disagreed over food and the correct day to worship. After spending most of chapter 9 talking about God’s sovereignty and his election of people, Paul transitions into something that seems to be contrary to what he just talked about: man’s responsibility. Romans 8 is a very important chapter in Romans. In this first sermon through the chapter, Pastor Kyle looks at Paul’s words in verses 1-13. Paul says that in Christ we are not condemned.
