No one paid attention to anything I was posting a few years ago and it all relates to sandwiches. See, when I want a sandwich I want it already made so I can just bite into it and eat it - job done. But if I had a choice to assemble it myself or eat a ready-made one - I'd go with the one that's already made. This is a similar analogy to the way I was creating my written/video/audio posts - it's like the audience is having to assemble the sandwich when all they want to do is be fed! Having to assemble the sandwich is the equivalent of asking the audience a bunch of questions from the beginning of the post all the way through to the end whereas feeding it to them or at least putting it on a plate for them to eat is telling your story and saving the questions as a call to action at the end. I had such a hard time trying to find people to talk to because all my posts sounded like bad TV ads - "Do you struggle with confidence?" it just sounds like I've got something to sell and it was a massive discredit to the intimacy and power of the nature of coaching. Telling stories from the heart is what has people connect with me and it's the main reason why I actually enjoy creating content! I love to talk (in case you hadn't realized) and I hate having to sell, so I choose not to. Today's video is all about how you structure your posts, if you apply what I talk about here you will have no problem when it comes to finding people to have coaching conversations with.

Why You Don't Need Followers As A Coach
I'm growing a coaching business NOT trying to win a popularity contest!
This is the reason why the amount of followers you have is totally irrelevant, I was making more money from my coaching business when I had 2000 followers than another coach who had 10k. Slow down, you're not trying to win a race to a vanity metric. Your only job as a powerful coach is to have one conversation at a time. Relax into one conversation, serve that person so powerfully and make their decision - shall I continue with this coach instead of shall I start?

The reason why so many coaches have a hard time filling their diaries is because they're misinformed about marketing.
There's a difference between being a marketer and being a coach - a marketer focuses on the number of people they can reach and a successful coach focuses on creating one relationship at a time.
Marketing is about keeping up to speed with the internet whereas coaching is about slowing down to the speed of life and really serving people powerfully.

Do I post on my page or profile for Facebook?
I get this question at least once a week and now I have something to refer to when I explain my answer!
The purpose of a Facebook page has diminished over the years and is now a pay to win the game, so if you've got money to throw into ads be my guest. However, if you wanna reach people for free then the best way to go is posting on your profile using hashtags and telling stories as this will create organic discovery. This isn't about marketing strategies, it's about building a coaching business by having conversations and that's all - keep it simple.

*How much time do you need to spend online?*
A massive myth that stops coaches from using social media to create clients is they assume that they have to spend hours a day online.
This is just an excuse and it's not true, you can fill up your diary by spending 30 minutes a day using these platforms IF you actually use them to talk to people.
Most coaches are on these platforms posting things that are either hard to consume or unrelated to their business and then to make things worse they just sit there and expect the coaching enquiries to roll in on their own.
Use the platforms to tell stories and then talk to people, it's that simple.

*HOW DO I SELL WHAT I DO?*
The short answer is you don't need to!
Too many coaches are bombarding the world with information about how they work and that's why their diaries are empty. If we slow down we can see that by doing this we are besmirching the noble coaching profession with sales-y BS that alienates us from our potential clients. Telling stories is how we market ourselves!
Here's a challenge for you: next time someone asks you "what do you do?," don't reply with "I'm a coach" and then dive into how you work. Instead, reply with a story of how you've worked with one person.

* TOP 3 MISTAKES COACHES MAKE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
90% of coaches don't follow these simple guidelines and that's why their diaries are empty. They throw out these lame excuses like "my demographic doesn't live on Instagram” (or whatever social media platforms they want to use as an excuse). Everyone and their mum has an Instagram page these days so let's do away with the crap excuses and let's get strategic about how we use these platforms!

*What to do if you're no good on camera*
The good news is that it doesn't matter how you are on camera, what matters is that you actually do something. That something is practice! Practice makes better - there's no such thing as perfect - and the better you get the more comfortable you'll feel on camera. You're not going to connect with anyone by debating whether or not your content is "good enough" just put it out and let the world decide for you! The name of the game here is progress, not perfection!

WHY YOU DON'T NEED TO NICHE This is one of the main things that stop coaches from actually putting their content out there for potential clients to find them! Why would we limit ourselves to only working with a certain type of person whether that be psychographic or demographic? I became a coach because I knew I could help all kinds of people so doesn't it make sense for me to have conversations and then see if we're a good fit to coach together? I think the main problem is stalling, so many coaches are waiting for their website (which I still don't have), their messaging (irrelevant) and their "brand" (don't even get me started on that one) to be just right before they start sharing content to create clients. We tell our clients that there's no right time for anything so why would we wait for the right time to start using social media? Walk your talk and share powerful content from your experience to help others - this is how you will create your potential client conversations. Why Having A Coach Is A Gamechanger
Recently I had my ego checked HARD by the incredible Ankush K Jain when we had a conversation about "competition.”
In today's video, I wanted to share what's changed for me since investing a lot into my own professional development as a coach as well as what it can do for you. I think it's really important to understand the role that coaching will play in your own life and business when you communicate it to clients.
Please share your coaching transformations below, I'd love to read them!

FROM POST TO PAYING CLIENTS - THE PROCESS
This episode is going to annoy a lot of coaches because the "struggling coach" does the opposite of what I do. The struggling coach dives straight into what they're offering and the concept of their coaching whereas I just coach. This is the differentiator - you're a coach so just coach people that's what makes a difference in someone's life so keep that as your intention in all communication you have with potential clients. Serving is the key to success here.

One of the biggest complaints that I hear from coaches when it comes to posting their content is that they're not getting any engagement. There are some mechanical things to consider such as hashtags but the main thing to start off with is are you actually making the content palatable? No one has 10 seconds to hear your intro or the reason why you're "hopping on to do a quick video" - they want you to get to the point. When you watch a YouTube video for a recipe most of the time we want to get straight into how we make the dish rather than hearing the back story - consider this when it comes to capturing attention.

Superhero Origin Stories*
I doubt you'd connect with Superman without understanding his transition from Clark Kent, how do you think your potential clients would feel if you explained your superhero origin story? The story of transforming from your Clark Kent into your Superman is another way to create a deeper connection with everyone you speak with! There's a lot of people in the world who have never spoken with a coach and sometimes we get so used to being a coach that we forget that this is still a brand new thing for most people. Help people connect with you by telling your story of transformation…
Start by sharing your origin story here in the comments!

I've heard all kinds of crazy objections when it comes to using Instagram, the main one being "it's for young people."
In this episode, I'm going to explain what to post as a coach to actually get people interested in what you have to say and why. This platform doesn't have to be something you disregard, it's what I've built pretty much my entire coaching income from in the last few years.
