Aqaid Nasafiyyah: Recent Episodes

Today's lesson in the commentary of Aqaid Nasafiyyah marks the end of the second causes of knowledge that is on the truthful reports.
Imam Nasafi mentioned that truthful reports are of two types- The mass transmitted reports and prophetic reports. both brings about conviction but there are slight differences in terms of whether they are acquired through istadlal or not.
For example, the mutawtir is acquired as daruri (necessary)but its contents is istidlali (deductive) as one needs to ponder upon it to understand. As for reports of Allah, it falls under the category of prophetic reports as they are revealed to them and people get to know it through them.
For the case of Ijma, the author mentioned that it falls under the category of Khabar mutawatir as the impossibility of having any falsehood is rejected. All these tell us that Imam Nasafi had looked at all considerations before bringing these conclusions in his Aqaid.
On reports by Rasul - how it brings to knowledge of certitude (Yaqin)
Today's lesson in Sharh Aqaid nasafiyyah speaks about the second type of truthful reports that is the report of a Rasul aided with miracles. This kind of report brings Knowledge istidlali (requires ponderance-nazar) and leads to knowledge that is certain.
Imam Taftazani mentioned the definition of Rasul and the Mujizaat. The difference of rasul and nabi is in Tabligh and some scholars mentioned that Rasul brings a book of revelation or a set of new laws to the people whereas nabi propagate the book brought by previous rasul.
Today s class is a continuation of the second cause of knowledge which is Mass transmitted reports. The author, Imam Taftazani mentioned the conditions of Khabar mutawatir brings to knowledge that is darruri. And people can differ with one another on their acceptance of that knowledge even though it is daruri. There is a difference between the knowledge and those who attain digest it.
Then he speaks about the second form of truthful reports that is the report of a Prophet that is aided with miracles.
Today's lesson in the Commentary Of Aqaid Nasafiyyah speaks about the Mass transmitted reports (Khabar Mutawatir) under the topic of the Causes of knowledge. This is One of the distinguished Islamic principles in ascertaining the truth of a report. We have the science of Mustalah Hadith and for the Quran, all of it is Mutawatir tsubut. As Muslims, we must be convinced that our belief system is based on strong rational foundations in knowledge and not merely blind faith as some might think.
