After an early career in corporate banking and private finance Daniel built a successful management consultancy ( Hilland Ritchie Consultants) based in Glasgow, focused on funding social housing and large scale voluntary transfers. In 2004 he moved to Brazil with his family initially working in Inward Invest for UKTI, London First and One North East Development Agencies.
In 2010 he began working full time for Caramel Shortcake Ltda. The company makes and sells Caramel Shortcake and Shortbread to a wide range of customers that have included Nespresso Brazil ( Nestles), Grupo Pão de Açúcar ( Brazil's largest supermarket chain and a subsidiary of the French group Casino) . He also teaches english for social inclusion organisations that focus on democritising english for low income and disadvantaged chidren, adolescents and adults.
