Have you ever felt so overwhelmed with your relationship that you had no clue where to turn? Ever felt so lost within yourself because you felt unloved? Have you ever felt that your worth was dependent on how much love and attention you were getting from your husband? While these are normal feelings for women, there is a better way of managing them. Would you like to know how? In Soft & Strong, Galeema Davids lays out easy-to-read bits of advice for women who feel stuck in their marriages. This book is specifically for, but not restricted to, Muslim women. Davids writes about common marital issues including: understanding women and our fear of polygamy, what to do with the fear, understanding men and opening up our hearts to them, how to confidently love ourselves, how to extend honest love to our husbands… and so much more. Marriage can be so hard! But, it CAN become easier when we put ourselves in certain settings and do certain things (that actually have nothing to do with our husbands) -- things like, women support, sister connections, woman to woman conversations and filling ourselves up with all the things we love! From one sister to another, Soft & Strong shows that anything can be overcome once we shift our perspectives, connect with our inner-truths and find the sweet balance. You will find inspiration, liberation and valuable life lessons to carry you through your marriage as Davids shares what she and many women wish they knew much earlier in their marriages. In this episode, my guest, Katie Katherina Fabik, and I continue our conversation about one of our beloved mothers and the wife of the Prophet (SAW), Khadijah (RA). (If you missed Part 1, go back and listen to that first.) We look at Khadijah (RA) and her life as the adored wife of our beloved Prophet (SAW). What made her so special? How can we look at their marriage and get our husbands to adore us the way the Prophet (SAW) adored Khadijah (RA)? We also notice and examine how she so wisely used what we now know as the 5 love languages in her marriage. Take a listen and find out as we delve into what we think is the ultimate love story of all time!

Like this is just the way I am, I'm not good at managing my emotions, I'm not really into this whole marriage thing, it's all just difficult or whatever the case may be. But ... Sometimes we decide... today i want to be better, I want to do better, i want to make better choices. And we embark on a journey of self-learning and self-awareness... but then we hit a bump and another bump and it can be so difficult to kind of consolidate the past and the new self, right. As old patterns and habits and ways of thinking can be so hard to get rid of and we can so easily fall into bad habits and ways of thinking of the past AS we are at the same time struggling to create an improved version of our lives and of ourselves and of our marriage. What's the way forward?💛💛💛💛💛 In this episode, my guest, Amienabie Harnekar, and I talk about the importance of learning about the self, allowing for self-knowledge and self-growth, how khushoo (focus and mindfulness) in salah impacts our relationships and our lives, how connecting with other sisters is a basic human need and can benefit our marriages, and how all these things come together in creating a beautiful you. We discussed so many points in this episode that needs to be extracted and kept for a separate show. What was your biggest takeaway?🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 Amienabie had been married for 15 years mashaAllah and is currently a widow. She is also a mom, a life coach and an Aafiyah Healing practitioner. She may be contacted on +27812707317 - WhatsApp / Telegram https://www.facebook.com/amienabie.dastagirharnekar Insta - energywithinme

We talk about bad eating habits, how it runs over into so many areas of our lives and relationships, and how to stop it. We talk about feeling inadequate and unfulfilled in our roles as wives and moms. We talk about loving our husbands, no matter what... and we talk about so much more... you'll have to have a listen yourself 😉. Janet can be reached via her website www.unconsciousbrilliance.com. **Apologies for the soft audio, still valuable gems to catch. Xo

Thank you for listening. 💙💙💙💙💙 In this episode, my guest, Estela Rodriguez Jebril, and I talk about her marriage story and journey; and the marriage lessons extracted from that journey. We talk about all the pieces of ourselves that we bring into marriage, such as culture, past experiences and identities, marriage expectations etc. Estela also talks about age gaps, cultural differences, and coming into a marriage as a parent already while your husband has not yet had the experience of being a parent. We talk about the nature of men and women and focus in on how we can both optimise our best selves and make marriage work. Adding growth, compassion, empathy, self-esteem and self-reflection to the mix, this is a conversation you want to listen to! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 Estela is a Muslimah sex coach and helps women work through past trauma and abuse. My biggest takeaway from this conversation with Estela was the reminder about how often we go into attack mode, and the solution for this accusatory/blaming approach is through "being assertive and reflective and asking for clarity". Estela can be contacted on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/estela.jebril and https://programs.spiralupconnections.com/passionate-muslimah-academy-enroll/ or join her FB group, Sisters Helping Sisters https://www.facebook.com/groups/195053684396817/?ref=share

This was the most powerful sentence, for me, in my conversation with my guest in this episode, Seema. The power of perspective is so life-changing. How funny is it that we often place ourselves in the 'good guy' role and everyone else is the 'bad guy'. When we are able to shift perspective and see that we are in control, everything changes. 💜💜💜💜💜 In this episode, I am joined by wonderful Seema. Seema is a wife and mom of two teenagers. Seema shares her journey with us and offers us so many things to think about. We talk about how marriage can feel like being thrown in the deep end and drowning. What do we need to move away from this kind of overwhelm? Seema also talks about her self-discovery and how it inadvertently influenced her marriage mashaAllah. Seema is a life coach and can be contacted on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/seemaummrayyan and http://level10muslimah.com/

But, somewhere along the way, we do also start losing parts of ourselves and our identity. This is to be expected to a degree, as two beautiful worlds merge. And it isn't necessarily a bad thing. The trick is to know ourselves well enough to know where our boundaries are, what we're comfortable compromising on and what not. What do you think? 💜💜💜On this episode, I talk to Meriam Ghulam about how we can be true to ourselves while loving unconditionally. Things like woman to woman support, things like knowing yourself well, knowing your limits and boundaries and filling yourself up with all the things you love. My guest in this episode is Lamees Kafaar. Lamees has been married and divorced more than once and has taken many life lessons from her experiences. She has 5 beautiful children mashaAllah and a beautiful appreciation for life. Today she shares her life lessons with us. She got married at the age of 19. She was married for 17 years. She has four kids: 15, 14, 12 and 7. She considers herself a person with strong family values which include, honesty, integrity, being authentic, standing up for injustices and being connected to her Creator, all of which was a struggle in her marriage... hence the deterioation (as she put it) coupled with a toxic marriage - a topic which she has consequently done in-depth research on in order to understand it and so that it doesn't have a lasting effect on her kids.
As a married woman then and a single mom now, these values are still what she endeavours to instil in her family and within a relationship with a future partner. The only addition to the above mentioned, and such an important one, is CONSCIOUSNESS. She now runs an institution called Wonderland Kids' Academy, as well as Phoenix Empowerment Academy. Do you have unrealistic expectations in your marriage? Expectations of your husband to fit into a mould of who he should be and what he should be doing? Have you ever felt like he should just do as you ask otherwise it simply means he doesn't love you? It can be difficult to let go of these expectations sometimes when we're seeing things from our limited perspective. In this episode of His&Hers, I talk to Aamirah Kadoo about Letting Go of Expectations. Aamirah is a wife, a mom to a little girl as well as an aalimah and a business woman. ******* We love hearing from you. It breaks my heart to talk about abuse. To experience abuse is painful and hurtful. What if the abuse is from someone you have chosen as your life partner, your husband? What if the abuse is from someone whom deep down you still love? Today on His&Hers we're exploring to what degree abuse can be turned around in a marriage and what the factors are that would enable such change to happen. My guest today, Rafeeqah, has been on the show before. You can listen to her story in episode 8, but I invited Rafeeqah back on the show to talk more about her marriage story and the lessons learned. Previously, Rafeeqah described her marriage as a place of hurt and pain. Today though her marriage is a place of nourishment and ongoing growth. I hope you enjoy the show. On today's episode of His&Hers, we're talking about respect and what it means to men. Have you ever said something without meaning to sound disrespectful but then your husband feels disrespected? Men and women have many different ways of looking at situations. It can become quite hazy sometimes for a woman to make sense of a man's world. Luckily, my guest on the show today is my husband, Hashmet Khan. Hashmet is also a life coach and today he's back to help us demystify respect from a male perspective. Let us know what your biggest takeaway from today's episode was. For coaching services, Hashmet can be reached at khanhashmet1@gmail.com.
