Episode 7 features Reve Brander, DNP, CRNA, to discuss his experience graduating from a CRNA program, board preparation, credentialing and transitioning from his role as student to certified registered nurse anesthetist. Daunting loans, per diem positions and the importance of a new grad CRNA’s confidence are all covered as we delve into the unspoken trials of this process.
Episode 6 featured Nick Blank, CRNA and owner of Ultra Care Anesthesia group. This episode explores the office based anesthesia market and how the practice differs from the hospital and ambulatory surgery setting. Additionally, we discuss how Nick started his own anesthesia group and grew within the off-site setting.
Episode 5 part 2 is an interview with Dr. Maureen McCartney-Anderson, professor at Rutgers Nurse Anesthesia Program, who teaches both the DNP project proposal and DNP project implementation course. The discussion covers what makes a DNP project impactful for the anesthesia community and summarizes a few of the projects released by the Rutgers DNP cohorts.
Episode 5 part 1 is an interview with Dr. Thomas Pallaria, program director of the Rutgers Nurse Anesthesia Program, discussing the transition process from MSN to DNP. It summarizes the DNP mandate, how many programs have made and in the process of implemented it, and what curriculum changes were made to implement the transition.
Episode 4 summarizes airway physiology including nerves, muscles and cartilages. We also discuss difficult airway management, laryngospasm, and the pediatric airway.
Episode 3 summarizes the pharmacology and mechanism of action of local anesthetics. We discuss the different routes our patients are receiving local anesthetics, risks of LA toxicity and its treatment.
