Join your hosts, horror experts Mike and Mike, as they watch, discuss, dissect, and sometimes trash various horror movies. The guys watch everything from the big franchises like Halloween and Friday the 13th, to relatively unknown one-offs like Bad Candy and Christmas Evil. So, put the kids to bed, turn out the lights, and join us on a trip to the dark side which you may or may not live to regret. And remember, you don't have to be afraid of the dark. Just be afraid of what's hiding in it.
This week, the guys are watching the remake of House on Haunted Hill. It is nowhere near as good as the original, but its still a fun movie. To make it even better, Mike and Mike are watching it on VHS...on a 25 year old vcr/tv combo. Let the technical problems commence!
In the spirit of full disclosure, the first 4 minutes of this episode are of Mike and Mike digging through old Halloween candy in another room. We could easily edit this out, but the guys believe that moments like this are what allow the audience to catch a fleeting glimpse into the subtle sophistication that defines the hosts of Monday Night Horror. Anyway, Mike and Mike are watching the 90s version of the classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which is just titled Body Snatchers. Don't fall asleep, or an alien pod might spaghetti the human juice out of you and leave you an empty husk with yesterdays trash.
Have you ever been killed by an angry pilgrim? Have you ever had someone killing you with such intensity that you thought "wow, they must have been an angry pilgrim in a former life"? Regardless, Mike and Mike are watching Thanksgiving. In this fun, holiday slasher, the folks of Plymouth get their holiday butchered by none other than an angry pilgrim. Whatdya got to say about that, Pilgrim?
Unlike his Halloween trilogy, which started strong and then rapidly declined, David Gordon Green decided to start his exorcist trilogy in the septic tank, so he'd have nowhere to go but up. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for us, he was fired after making this bland, boring, generic exorcism movie, so we will never have to see another DGG Exorcist. The title Believer is certainly true. After watching this, you'll be a believer. You'll believe that the original Exorcist is the only movie in franchise worth watching. You'll believe that the director was justly removed from the project. And you'll believe that even the most mind numbing movies are better when you watch along with your pals Mike and Mike.
6 Months later - The guys have finally worked up the stomach to watch the rest of Halloween Ends. Do you know how people say that something is like watching a car accident - it is so bad that you can't look away? Well this movie is similar to that. This is like Mike and Mike are trying to watch a car accident, but they can't because they're stuck watching the rest of this stupid fucking movie. This is the movie that should have really been called Halloween Kills. Not only does it kill the trilogy, the franchise, and DGGs career, but it also kills the enthusiasm and interest of anyone watching it. Check back soon though, because after the guys finished watching this albatross, they decided to watch some actual good movies...
What is this nonsense, you ask? Well, Mike and Mike are doing a blind taste test of Dr. Pepper and all of the Dr. Pepper knockoffs they can find, in order to determine who is the greatest doctor. And, as a way to relate the idiocy to horror, they are doing a king of the ring style showdown of some of the most prominent doctors in all of horror. Yep.
Mike and Mike are watching the first ever Frankenstein movie! Being a silent film, the guys cant help but at their own dialogue...If you are watching using the Spotify app, this one should be available as a video!
It's Halloween night and the guys are watching Halloween Ends. This movie is an absolute miracle. When Halloween Resurrection came out, no one believed it was possible to make a Michael Myers movie that could possibly suck worse than that. This movie ignores everything that the 2018 and Kills movies established and instead tries to convey the pathetic artistic vision of an untalented director who thinks he is doing something clever. If you want to see Michael Myers, watch one of the other movies, because unfortunately, Michael sits this one out, and who can blame him. If someone made this movie about Mike and Mike, they wouldn't want to be in it either. So please, join the guys as they force feed themselves the lowest fan rated entry in the Halloween series.
On Halloween day, Mike and Mike discuss the state of modern horror and the found footage genre. Also, while waiting to open the haunted house and scare the children, the guys discuss old episodes, eat pork chops, and receive calls and visits from Joyce.
After new that there will be a future Halloween TV series, Mike and Mike discuss and contemplate just how bad that has the potential of being. The guys also transition through several other Michael Myers topics.
In preparation for the Halloween Ends episode, the guys are having a discussion about some of the more interesting points of the whole Halloween franchise. Listen as the guys discuss multiple timelines, various masks, the availability of coveralls, and other life changing topics that you have to hear to belive.

At least we're getting towards the end of this once proud horror franchise.

In the final episode of our Hellraiser intermission week, the guys are watching Dead County, an independent zombie movie filmed in Mike and Mike's hometown of Milford PA. It is filmed pretty well, and is light years beyond Mr. Halloween, but unless you are a fan of zombie movies with long, drawn out shots, a lot of aerial views of forest, boring dialogue, no character development, and almost no zombies, you may want to pass on this one.

This movie has been relentlessly attacked by critics since its release, but it really isn't THAT bad. Sure, it has some of the worst dialogue ever written for a movie, an abundance of cheesy one-liners and catchphrases, a never-ending supply of worthless characters, WAY too much nostalgia, Michael Myers performing fight scenes that would make Chuck Norris jealous, and the phrase "Evil Dies Tonight!", which will be at the center of jokes and memes until Halloween Ends is released next year, but that's no reason to shit on the movie completely! It's entirely possible that if you watch it enough, you may find SOMETHING you like about it. Maybe.

Mike and Mike really had high hopes for this one. The preview looked good. The quality of the film looked good. One reviewer even said it was a throwback to 90s horror movies such as The Ring and Scream. What an absolute insult to those great horror movies. This movie was complete and utter shit. It made Mr. Halloween seem tolerable. It was boring, contained lengthy, dull dialogue, and had a story that went absolutely no where. It started off being about a computer app that kills you with your own worst fear (not a bad concept), and became about evil spirits of dead mental patients trapped in a college basement, and ended with a grizzly bear attacking people on an airliner. What the fuck?

When a movie's plot is so far fetched that the writers need to start altering the events and characters from the first movie to make everything fit, you can be pretty sure the idea well has run dry. While the first movie was a hit cult classic, and the second movie was not quite as good but still a watchable sequel, the third movie in the Candyman franchise was a horrid crap bag. Matthew McConaughey's excellent performance is the only thing that keeps this hunk of shit afloat in a sea of bad writing, bad acting, forgettable characters, lack of emotion, and an embarrassing portrayal of Leatherface. However, it is still better than part 2.
