This episode of Speak Up Sis Podcast is a new segment called the the Small Biz Spotlight. It is an opportunity for me to share the stories of up and coming business owners and entrepreneurs that have not yet hit the mainstream audience. Since June is Black Music Appreciation Month, I decided to shine the spotlight on three, black Americans who are part of the music industry.

EbonyLion, Janice Roseburgh, and DJ Cool P and I had a really fun conversation about why they chose to be part of the music industry and what fingerprint they would like to leave on the culture of black music. There are also a couple surprises in this episode that I believe you'll enjoy.

My guest on this segment of One-on-One w/Angel is Goldie. Jane “Goldie” Winn, MSS has a Master’s Degree in Social Work which she earned in 1993 from the Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work in Bryn Mawr, PA. She is also a Certified Life Coach and a Client Advocate at Palm Beach Women’s Clinic in Boca Raton, FL.

As an author and seasoned public speaker Jane “Goldie” has had extensive experience speaking on a variety of topics which were born out of her own life story: “Rainbow in the Night: A Journey of Redemption.” Her book was published in December 2019 and took 20 years to complete and now is in the process of being made into a movie!

She can speak to her own struggles with depression, physical and emotional abuse, hippie lifestyle in the early 1970’s, healing after abortion, marital challenges, loss of hopes and dreams, and a dramatic conversion experience as a Jewish woman coming to believe and accept Yeshua (Jesus) as her personal Lord and Savior in 1974. One of the most exciting aspects of Jane “Goldie’s” story is a desire to be totally freed from her painful past which involved total surrender to the Lord. She loves talking about the true freedom and joy that is possible when allowing the Lord full reign in our lives. As a Life Coach she enjoys helping her clients get “unstuck” and uses the analogy of getting the train out of the station and on to the next stop with a focus on the present and moving away from their painful past. This often involves re-inventing or re-imagining their lives as they move forward. Jane “ Goldie” and her husband/soul mate Dave reside in Delray Beach, Florida and formed a musical duo “The Winn Winn Situation” and love entertaining seniors. janegoldiewinn.com rainbowinthenightmovie.com

On this episode of Speak Up Sis Podcast, I invited T'shura Lamar of T'shura Talks to have a Blue Flame discussion about depression. Recently, there have been several prominent people as well as everyday people who have died by suicide. A former Ms. USA as well as the actress Regina King's son have both died by suicide. Many people have asked how does someone so beautiful or so successful do something like that? There are others who believe it is a selfish act. Well, T'shura and I tackle this topic in this episode, and we bring to light other concerns many people have with seeking help that are not often discussed, ie. fear of therapy and lack of access to therapy. Speak Up Sis Podcast broadcasts live every Monday night at 8pm EST. You can watch and join the live discussion by subscribing to the Speak Up Sis Youtube channel at Youtube.com/speakupsis. Even though sex is openly talked about everywhere our current society, women are still not comfortable being honest and transparent about sex in the most important place they should be discussing it - within their relationship with a spouse or romantic partner. I invited a good friend and former guest on the show, Pamela Hall, to join me to continue on the show a conversation we began off record. As we were talking, I knew this was a conversation that needed to be had in the light and in the open. "Being sexy is all about attitude, not body type. It's a state of mind." - Amisha Patel

Tonight's Speak Up Sis Podcast's blue flame panel discussion is all about women embracing sexy after 40 years old.

A great number of women are married and/or divorced by forty Many have had children, gained weight, and have professional careers that require them to be "on" all the time.

At some point, we either forget about being sexy or just don't think that word belongs in the same sentence with our name anymore.

Well, me and my guests, fitness professionals, Beverly Johnson IG: @bevkjohnson and Belinda Berrian IG: @noxcusefitness7 chopped-it-up about what it actually means to be sexy, can women over forty be considered sexy and ways to get back to feeling sexy.

Today's episode is about a very sensitive topic. The topic of weight and women and why women seem to have a difficult time losing weight. For many, the idea of dieting and exercise is at the forefront of the mind; however, this is a very candid blue flame conversation is more about the mental, psychological, emotional social, spiritual weight women carry around that makeit difficult to lose the physical weight.

This is an impromptu episode where I share a piece of my testimony to inspire yours. There are many people who stand in a place of leadership who desperately desire to lead as their true selves; however, they believe acknowledging their imperfect parts will somehow diminish their authority in their respective fields. I encourage the bold leaders to listen to this episode and know that it's your imperfect parts that will make you an even stronger leader. I invite a good friend and former colleague, Sonya Mitchell, into the Speak up Sis space to share some wisdom from her journey as a mom and an educator. I believe all moms at some point ask themselves the question, "Am I a bad mom?" As both mothers and educators, Sonya and I have a candid discussion to tackle this very difficult but real question that everyday moms ask themselves at least once while on their motherhood journey. Visit www.SpeakupSis.com for more information about being a guest on Speak up Sis Podcast and to learn more about me, Angel Charmaine, and the Speak up Sis platform.

My guest Kijafa James and I talk about the need for spiritual decluttering. Oftentimes, when we think of decluttering, we think of our closets, home, or our office space. However, this conversation is about getting rid of the clutter in our heart and soul.

I have so much to say about so many things, but who in the world wants to hear what I have say? This thought has kept me silent for 40 years. No longer. I am here, and I've got lots to say, so I'm going to open my mouth, speak up and give other women the space and opportunity to do the same.
