Aimed at managers, fund lawyers, placement agents and other professionals involved with fund establishment, this is a great chance to gain a first-hand appreciation of easy, cost effective distribution direct from successful professionals.
We are delighted to have renowned journalist and broadcaster, Andrew Neil, as keynote speaker for the Guernsey Funds Forum 2020.
Fresh from US Presidential Election Day, Andrew will provide his take on the election and the implications, including what this means for the UK. Andrew will then be joined by our CEO, Rupert Pleasant, for a live Q&A session.
Guernsey has developed a suite of products appealing to managers and investors which demonstrate the island's strength as a centre for alternative investment funds, and its flexible, regulatory regime. The current trend for migrations to satisfy the demands of economic substance has focused thinking on what managers are really looking for in today's climate.
This session will be moderated by James Bromley, Partner in the London private funds group at law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
We will also discuss the implications for the global fund community and the investment landscape, including issues like managing investor activism and how managers can demonstrate resilience.
Guernsey has the infrastructure to tackle issues around sustainability and proven resilience, as evidence through the island's handling of the Covid crisis.
This session will be moderated by Miles Celic, Chief Executive of TheCityUK.

The theme for this year's event is 'Emerging from Crisis - Reshaping Family Offices'. To state that 2020 is a year of uncertainty is an understatement. Against a backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, political turmoil in Hong Kong, the US elections and the threats of kidnap or cyber-attack, family offices are reflecting and preparing for a new operating environment. They may be embracing the opportunities provided by remote working or dealing with the challenges that this might pose, considering succession planning for wealth transfer to the next generation or ensuring that they have a robust governance structure.
Dr Andy Sloan, Deputy Chief Executive, Strategy at WE ARE GUERNSEY will be moderating a panel discussion with viewer questions to follow. The panel consists of:
Guernsey has now for many years offered certainty and continuity to ILS managers and their funds, with a bespoke regulatory regime that has been specifically designed for the sector.
Our experience and expertise in both investment funds and insurance are combined in our ILS offering, as fund managers and promoters with capital to deploy are brought together with transformation managers who understand insurance risk.
DISCLAIMER- In between eight and 11 minutes during the webinar there were some audio issues with Richard Sharp’s microphone and as such he is inaudible. This was quickly rectified and he can be clearly heard for the rest of the session. We apologise for this brief drop in audio quality.
We Are Guernsey's annual investment funds flagship event usually takes place in London. This year's webinar features two Guernsey-based speakers taking part in a virtual fireside chat, focusing mainly on the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the potential routes for recovery. Turnaround expert Jon Moulton has called the pandemic "the biggest disruption of my working life". Independent director Andreas Tautscher says the issues being faced, and the potential recovery solutions, look very different to that of the global financial crisis of 2008. Guernsey’s funds sector is competitively placed at the start of a new decade, strengthened by economic substance provisions and a developing position in the growing sustainability sector. How will Guernsey's funds sector emerge as we enter the "new normal"?
Hear how the captive insurance industry is innovating in response to a fast-changing world, and about Guernsey’s strengths in the market, in our webinar with a panel of speakers who have wide experience of international corporate insurance and the captives industry. Audio taken live from our webinar in June 2020.
Guernsey Green Finance Chair Dr Andy Sloan caught up with Tim Hames, former Director-General of the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA) to review Guernsey Sustainable Finance Week, and go over some of the key themes about the roles of private capital, family offices and private equity in greening the global economy.
In the third of We Are Guernsey's Sustainable Finance Week webinars, Dr Andy Sloan was joined by Richard Burrett, Chief Sustainability Officer to fund manager Earth Capital, Fellow at University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and former Chair of the UNEP Finance Initiative; Gurpreet Manku, Deputy Director General and Head of Policy at the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA); and Divya Seshamani, Managing Partner of Greensphere LLP and Member of the UK Government’s Council of Sustainable Business where she leads the Net-Zero Carbon initiative.
Emilie Shaw, Portfolio Director and Sustainability Lead, outlines Cazenove Capital’s sustainable investment priorities and how private capital can be used to build back better post the Covid-19 crisis.
Sabine Döbeli, Managing Director of the Swiss Sustainable Finance Initiative, with a European perspective on sustainability in the Covid-19 environment.
The sustainability view from Asia, with lawyer Ben McQuhae, Founder and Co-Chair of the Hong Kong Green Finance Task Force.
Stephen Nolan, managing director of the UN's Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S), offers a global take on the impact of Covid-19 on the sustainable finance agenda.
In the second episode of We Are Guernsey's Sustainable Finance Week webinars, Dr Andy Sloan was joined by David Bain, Editor of Family Capital magazine; Taeun Kwon, Head of Private Wealth Programmes at the University of Zurich’s Centre for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth; and Guernsey resident turnaround investor Jon Moulton, an active investor in sustainable finance for decades.
In We Are Guernsey's first Sustainable Finance Week webinar, one of the UK’s eminent sustainable finance thinkers, Ben Caldecott, founding Director of the Oxford Sustainable Finance Programme, and strategic adviser to the UK Green Finance Initiative’s Chief Executive, takes us through a provisional assessment on the structural impact of Covid-19 on financing climate action. Ben was joined by Anjalika Bardalai, Chief Economist & Head of Research at TheCityUK.
Dr Andy Sloan outlines Guernsey's positioning in green and sustainable finance and the story of how We Are Guernsey reached Sustainable Finance Week.
