In this extra special helping of Nerd Lunch, Pax celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Run-DMC's fourth album, Tougher than Leather. For this episode Pax is joined by show regulars Tim Lybarger and Matt Ringler. We all discuss our history with rap and Run-DMC, we talk about our favorite albums and songs and we even discuss the forgotten Tougher than Leather movie.
Break out the Doritos and Mountain Dew, the Nerd Lunch Podcast had reached triple digits! It's episode 100 and to celebrate, CT, Jeeg and Pax welcome the two other members of the Nerd Lunch Family. Joining as guests are Nerd Lunch blog co-founder PLee and Nerd Lunch: The Web Series co-host Savannah Staverosky. However, the show honors many of our past guests by including a look back at several Fourth Chair Carryover Questions from the past year. Find out who never watched Saturday Morning cartoons, who doesn't like Seth Rogen, who (sort of) ran a 5K to save the Clock Tower, who watched the royal wedding and who likes Foofur a bit too much. Only one show left until episode 100, but we're bringing the fun this week by bringing back long-absent guest Jay from sexyarmpit.com. After apologizing to Jay for not having him on for so long, he forgives us by giving us the greatest Nerd Lunch rap you'll ever hear. It's worth turning the show off after that, but don't! We then move into a return to our "Expendables of Other Genres" topic once before covered on Episode 22 of our show. CT, Jeeg, and Pax get a dose of culture this week with a visit from Sue London, author of Trials of Artemis (The Haberdashers Book One). After getting the lowdon on what Sue has been doing and what she will be doing, the four of them discuss various couples in the nerd genres including power couples, mismatched couples, married couples, and love triangles. The romance discussion ends with an exercise in "create-a-romance" where The Matrix's Trinity sees a lot of action. Nerd To-Dos involve d20Monkey, a real Millennium Falcon, more Game of Thrones talk, and the consuming of a free Quarter Pounder from McDonald's.
This week CT, Jeeg and Pax are joined by show regular Shawn Robare to discuss the nerdarific book, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. We talk about our pre-knowledge of the book, what we thought of the characters and what we thought of all of the 80s pop culture references that are strewn throughout the text. We quite thoroughly discuss this book. Nerd to Dos involve bootleg Powell-Peralta skate tapes, William Shatner's Gonzo Ballet, and more Game of Thrones, Farscape and Burn Notice viewing.
This week's episode returns us to the starship from our ninth episode. Our food replicators are still broken, but on the plus side we've managed to find some aliens who can add the recipes for 5 condiments to our replicator. We've also encountered the roguish freighter captain Dubba from OnSecondScoop.com and The Nosh Show. After learning a bit about Dubba's ice cream expertise, we set out to reach consensus on the sauces, spreads, and dressings we'll take for the remainder of our journey. Unfortunately for us, consensus is about as easy to find a cloaked Romulan Warbird. In our Nerd To-Dos we hear about cell phone upgrades, hatred for Farscape, catching up on Dr. Who crossovers, and basking in the glow of Game of Thrones.

This week on the podcast, Pax and CT welcome two guests once again and find that they've invented the next "peanut butter and chocolate" with returning guests Tim Lybarger and Matt Ringler. After discovering one of the guests is short on originality, CT asks everyone to channel that unoriginality into a reboot challenge. Recently, we had guest Jon Cross from the After Movie Diner on our show and the previous guest, Jeremy from Geek Chunks asked a particularly volatile Fourth Chair Carryover Question. This question turned into a 20 minute discussion about Star Trek, reboots, opinionated fans, "hate," and poutine. (Actually, poutine never came up surprisingly...) We decided to cut that discussion out of the show in an effort to get to the main topic discussion quicker, but it was entertaining enough that you might enjoy listening as a second helping.

In our Nerd To-Dos, we hear about losing the fire for The Walking Dead comic, unpacking old treasures from the garage, and home screenings of The Hobbit and ParaNorman.
This week on the show, Pax, Jeeg and CT are joined by improv actor Matt Young to chat at great length about his role as Captain Julius Valentine Baxter on the Improvised Star Trek Podcast. After the Nerd Lunchers get the scoop on the process, history, and Sixpence None the Honor's HIchop! (aka Klingon version of Kiss Me), the podcasters move into another installment of "Give That Guy Some Work." British actors abound this time as the crew comes up with a brand new show you won't be seeing on your TV anytime soon. CT, Jeeg and Pax each made a trip to their local theater and got a chance to see that swanky new Iron Man movie that the kids are talking about these days. Since all three of the Nerds can answer "yes" to the question, "have you seen the latest billion dollar maker?" they decided to spend a few minutes talking about this movie. Fear not fans of disagreement, while most of the comments are positive, there are a few points where the Nerds did not see eye-to-eye. Rondal Scott returns to our fourth chair this week to mull over what to do if we actually had time machines. We discuss a variety of self serving time travel activities: which model time machine would we choose, what movie premieres we’d go back to see, what long lost fast food items we’d want to try, classic toys to pick up, changes we'd make in our personal lives, and it wouldn't be a complete episode without talk of killing Hitler. Our Nerd To-Dos feature the Seduction of the Innocent, The Dark Knight Rises, the 1930s version of King Kong, and birthday related plans to see Iron Man 3.

After 20 months of doing the podcast, we finally decide it's time to cover Joss Whedon's sci-fi western classic, Firefly and the follow-up movie Serenity. And to occupy the fourth treadmill (?) for this conversation we call in our own big damn hero, Mark Dury. We recap our history with Mr. Whedon at the time of Firefly's premiere, personal introductions to the show, favorite episodes, favorite characters, thoughts on Serenity as a wrap-up to the show, and whether it should ever come back. CT, Jeeg, and Pax welcome Aaron Nix back to the fourth chair this week. After checking to make sure everything is OK with Aaron, we try to figure out which real world people or things would be best suited to some scenarios from movies, TV, or comic books. Which real life American football player would save the Earth from Ming the Merciless? Which real life US president would fly a fighter jet and lead Earth to victory over the aliens in Independence Day? Which real life band is most likely part of a Cobra plot using subliminal messages in the music? You get the idea. In our Nerd To-Dos, we hear a mini review of Star Wars Scoundrels, a plan to visit Dickey's BBQ Pit, some love for Life of Pi, and a revisiting of Dark Knight Rises.
This week, CT abandons us and we are instead joined by The Retroist in his second appearance and Vic Sage, who is one of the head writers on The Retroist blog, in his first appearance on the show. We brought in these retro experts to discuss one of the greatest gaming systems of all time, the Atari 2600. We talk about our history with the system, some of our favorite and least favorite games and whether any of us scored one of those bad ass Master Gamer Patches. We discuss our favorites and our not-so favorites. Some of the shows discussed include Sesame Street, Electric Company, Mr Rogers, Reading Rainbow, 3-2-1 Contact and many, many more. The Nerd Lunchers return to their own take on an Atomic Geek franchise topic. Once again re-doing a TV show, they pick the oft-maligned Star Trek: Voyager. Joined by Twitter pal of Jeri Ryan, Rob Graham, the premise, cast, writers, and designs get torn apart and put back together again in a much more satisfying way. Michael May from Michael May's Adventure Blog joins us for a discussion of non-Super Hero Comic Books. We talk about some of our favorites, why they are our favorites, what ones we read and what ones we think suck. Nerd to Dos involve two separate Star Trek TV shows, Pirates of the Caribbean, James Bond and The Bionic Woman.
It's a very special episode on this week's Nerd Lunch Podcast. After a brief trip around the horn to mention some of our favorites and what made them work, we all pitch concepts using movies that have never been translated to TV. In this week's episode we turn our critical eyes to a list of the top 25 sci-fi movies and tear it to shreds... or do we? In hindsight we probably should have decided what if meant to bust a list before we started.

When a wormhole flings the ship across the galaxy and damages all systems, some hard choices have to be made. Jeeg can get the damaged food replicator back online, but with only 10 recipes. The guys have to come together to decide what will be on the menu for the next several decades and, to nobody's surprise, it won’t be health food. That's right, we're taking the discussions we've made infamous one step further and having them in auditory form. Jeeg and I will be joined by our good friend Paxton Holley from the Cavalcade of Awesome to hash out nerdy and foodie topics. And on occasion, we'll be joined by other special guests as well.
We are happy to be the first podcast to be released under the banner of The Atomic Geeks Podcasting Network. A couple of podcasts today, tomorrow the world.
