Flow and Flourish: Recent Episodes

Nicole Rhone

I help women and businesses create sustainable success by managing their capacity. In this community, we believe that when you flow effortlessly, you flourish tremendously, in ALL areas of your life. Based on five pillars, we talk about how to create flow in each area, without ever having to sacrifice yourself, your family and what matters most to you. The five pillars are:

  1. Heart Flow - Relationships, Values & Boundaries
  2. Work Flow - Growth, Fulfillment & Balance
  3. Health Flow - Mental, Emotional & Physical
  4. Cash Flow - Mindset, Habits & Legacy
  5. Faith Flow - Foundation & Functioning

Welcome to the Capacity Conversations Podcast. This is the safe space to talk openly and honestly about the challenges we face while managing the competing priorities between our personal and professional lives. Many of us are in corporate, entrepreneurs, or a combination of the two — while also being moms, wives, caregivers, big sisters, church leaders, or the go-to person in our families and friend groups. And without intentional alignment, all of that responsibility can quietly turn into over-functioning, burnout, resentment, and maxed-out capacity.

In this episode, we’re talking about something many of us do without even realizing it: selective amnesia.

Not the medical kind — the everyday kind where we overlook patterns, excuse behavior, or minimize what we’re feeling because telling ourselves the truth would require us to make a difficult decision. We see it in relationships. We see it in family dynamics. And we definitely see it at work.

Sometimes, selective amnesia has us tolerating chaos, normalizing behavior that should’ve been addressed a long time ago, or convincing ourselves something “isn’t that bad” even when our mind, body, and spirit are telling us otherwise.

In this episode, I walk through real-life examples of how selective amnesia shows up in everyday life — from family gatherings where the same behavior gets excused over and over again, to workplaces where we minimize toxic culture or misalignment because the paycheck or benefits feel too important to walk away from.

I also share a personal story about experiencing migraines every Sunday night in a past role — and how I kept explaining it away instead of acknowledging what my body was trying to tell me.

Because the truth is this: Even when we pretend something didn’t happen… our capacity remembers.

We talk about how selective amnesia impacts each of the five capacity pillars — cash, health, heart, work, and faith — and how unresolved patterns slowly drain our energy, our peace, and our ability to show up fully in our lives.

If you’ve ever found yourself saying things like:

“Maybe I’m overthinking it.”
“Maybe I’m being too sensitive.”
“It’s just a stressful season.”
“That’s just how they are.”

This conversation is for you!

Ways to Stop Practicing Selective Amnesia:

  1. Tell yourself the truth
  2. Look at patterns, not moments
  3. Stop explaining away your own experience
  4. Pay attention to resentment

As a Capacity Coach and HR Leader, my philosophy is simple: healthy habits + healthy people = healthy businesses. When we manage our capacity well, we lead better, love better, and live better — without sacrificing ourselves in the process.

And without intentional alignment, all of that responsibility can quietly turn into over-functioning, burnout, resentment, and maxed-out capacity.

In this episode, we’re breaking the over-functioning cycle. I unpack the difference between high-functioning and over-functioning, how over-functioning often starts in childhood as survival, and how it follows us into adulthood — showing up at home, at work, in business, in friendships, and even in church.

I share personal stories about stepping into responsibility at nine years old, over-functioning in my HR career to justify my seat at the table, and how grief exposed patterns I didn’t even realize I was carrying. We talk about how being praised for “stepping up” can become part of your identity — and how that identity can slowly cost you your peace, your energy, and your capacity.

This episode will help you recognize where you may be carrying what isn’t yours — and give you practical, everyday ways to break the pattern.

If you’re the strong one…The dependable one… The fixer… The one people rely on…

This conversation is for you!

How to Break the Over-Functioning Cycle:

  1. Pause before you step in
  2. Let people experience the weight of their own choices (“Let Them”)
  3. Separate love from labor — personally and professionally
  4. Redefine what strong actually means

Breaking the cycle doesn’t mean you stop being responsible. It means you stop carrying what isn’t yours.

As a Capacity Coach and HR Leader, my philosophy is simple: healthy habits + healthy people = healthy businesses. When we manage our capacity well, we lead better, love better, and live better — without sacrificing ourselves in the process.

And without intentional alignment, all of that responsibility can lead to burnout, resentment, and maxed-out capacity.

In this episode, I’m talking about what it really means to get back to what matters. I share personal stories about my marriage, my health scare, ignoring physical signs of stress, and how I now intentionally protect my health, my family, and my business in this season.

I believe that building the life you say you want doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when you create aligned priorities and make intentional choices that support your well-being and leadership.

If you’ve been feeling tired, resentful, comparing your journey, or unsure what to prioritize next, this episode will help you reconnect with what matters and take your next best step.

5 Ways to Figure Out What Matters in This Season:1. Pay attention to what drains you vs. what restores you 2. Notice where you feel resentment 3. Look at your calendar, not your intentions 4. Listen to what you keep ignoring 5. Decide what you need to protect right now

You don’t have to change everything overnight. Just start with one aligned decision.

As a Capacity Coach and HR Leader, my philosophy is simple: healthy habits + healthy people = healthy businesses. When we take care of ourselves from the inside out, we increase our ability to lead, love, and live well — without sacrificing ourselves, our families, or what matters most.

Many of us are either in corporate, an entrepreneur or a combination of the two, on top of being moms, wives, caregivers, big sister’s or just the go-to person in our circles of friends and families. Having all that responsibility can leave you overwhelmed and depleted if you don’t take inventory of where you’re at on a regular basis.

In this episode, I’m sharing why I’m not making resolutions this year — I’m making decisions. After a long pause from the mic, life gave me plenty of real-life lessons that required alignment, honesty, and capacity in real time. I walk you through six powerful decisions I made that are shaping how I move into 2026 with more peace, clarity, and support.

Instead of setting goals based on fantasy capacity, I’m choosing grounded, aligned decisions that help me protect my energy, show up confidently, and stop carrying things that were never mine to hold alone.

6 Decisions I’m Carrying Into 2026

  1. Stop Comparing My Season to Someone Else’s Timeline
  2. Release Conditional Confidence and Live Now
  3. Take the Next Step Instead of Waiting for Clarity
  4. Choose Stretch Over Comfort
  5. Surrender Control and Lean Into Faith
  6. Stop Carrying Everything Alone

We talk about what it looks and feels like to have a personal board of directors, and why it’s essential for your capacity. Kisha mentioned that your board is made up of people you pay, those who are your mentors, and of course your family friends. Here’s how she broke it down:

  1. The People You Pay: Doctors, therapists, coaches, financial planners, massage therapist, etc. These are the folks you invest into make sure you’re healthy in every since of the word, across every pillar of capacity.
  2. The People You Seek: Mentors and people who genuinely want to see you win in life, both personally and professionally. This includes your friends, family, God-given people you’ve prayed for, etc.

Personal Board of Directors

  • The High 5 - think of these like the favorite 5, if you remember those from T-Mobile. These are the top five people in your circle that you communicate with, share dreams with, and you know you can call.
  • The Core 4 - these are the people who are really-really in your corner. Not only do you share your hopes and dreams with them, but you trust them to tell you the truth, and check you, because you know its coming from a place of love.
  • The Key 3 - these are the people you trust with your life, around your mate, kids, etc., and likely have keys to your home. These are the 3 people who have your back like nobody on the planet.

In this episode, I’m sharing what I know to be true about saying what we want and having the courage to do it… knowing better is NOT enough! You can know all day long, but if you keep knowing, and never do, you’ll keep going in circles.

So how do you actually go from knowing better to doing better, you ask? I have 3 key ways to help you walk the talk:

3 Keys to go from Knowing to Doing Better

  1. Prioritize Your Priorities - this means making time to list out all the things you think you need to do, and then prioritize them. You have to remember that everything that's important isn't always essential... figure out what that is for you.
  2. Get Accountability Partners - this means finding like minded and like hearted people who will hold you accountable when you can't do it yourself. It also means getting vulnerable enough to seek and ask for help. You can find some right in my Flow and Flourish community on Facebook!
  3. Practice Self-Care - this is an inside job. Yes, get the mani/pedi and massage, but it also means being honest with yourself and pausing long enough to identify what you want/need in this season, and aligning your actions to your values and goals.

After you’ve listened, I invite you to connect with me social media. I love to hear how this is helping you, so make sure you tag me on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn with your favorite takeaway from the episode.

In this episode, I’m talking about pivoting. At some point in our lives, we hit a crossroad where we have to decide to stay the course, or do to something different, and that isn’t always (or ever for most of us), an easy or light-hearted decision. That’s why I get all in my business, and share with you what pivoting has done for me, both personally and professionally. From leaving the corporate space and releasing relationships, to changing the name of this very podcast. This episode is for you.

As always, I also share a few tips for you to take away with you, including the reasons people choose not to pivot, and a few benefits of making the hard decision to do so.

4 Reasons Why Folks Don’t Pivot

  1. Embarrassment or Shame
  2. The Fear of Failure
  3. Attachments to Past Investments
  4. Lack of Clarity or Direction

4 Benefits of Pivoting

  1. Better Alignment w/Goals + Values
  2. Rapid Growth + Learning Opportunies
  3. Increased Fulfillment Personally + Professionally
  4. A New World of Opportunities Open Up

This week on the podcast, I’m talking about something near and dear to my heart. Before my dad passed away, he was in the process of writing a book about how he overcame struggles and the odds being stacked against him as a young man growing up in Chicago. He called it, Breaking The Cycle.

I have the honor this week to take what he started and add my spin on, it as we celebrate Women’s History Month. In this episode, I’m talking about Breaking The Cycle - specifically around the things we’ve had to individually and collectively unlearn and undo, and give you three specific ways for you to continue making history

How to Break a Cycle

  • Managing your Mindset
  • Managing your Money
  • Managing how you Model (behavior)

Welcome to the Flow and Flourish Podcast. This is what I like to call a “sister-friend” community, which is the safe space to talk openly and honestly about the challenges we face while managing the competing priorities between our personal and professional lives. Many of us are either in corporate, an entrepreneur of a combination of the two, on top of being moms, wives, caregivers, big sister’s or just the go-to person in our circles of friends and families. Having all that responsibility can leave you overwhelmed and depleted if you don’t take inventory of where you’re at on a regular basis.

In today’s episode, I go deeper into sharing what it actually means to flow and flourish. I’m talking definitions and all! Then, I share with you the “how” which is the most valuable part, so you can do what you need to do. Here’s what you get in this episode:

3 Ways to Flow and Flourish:

  • Check your capacity regularly
      • What are you giving your time/energy to? - Is it aligned to your values/goals - What needs to shift in this season?
  • Prioritize
      • Determine essential vs important - Make a ‘To Don’t List” - Setome some time boundaries
  • Plan ahead
    • Productivity power hour (brain dump)
    • Map out your week and weekend
    • Put it on your calencar

After you’ve listened, I invite you to connect with us me social media. Ilove to hear how this is helping you, so make sure you tag me on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn with your favorite takeaway from the episode.

This is a very special episode for me. I get to share with you the life lessons that my father, Sterling Howard, Jr., left with me. These are gems of wisdom that will help you as you navigate managing your capacity and creating work-life balance. Not only did he tell me these things, most importantly, he showed me with his actions. Learn how I applied these lessons to my life and how you can do the same.

Five Life Lessons I Learned from my Dad

  • Believe in yourself, even if nobody else does
  • Resilience is the key to success
  • Make time for the people + things that bring you joy
  • Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual
  • Sometimes you’re the one who’s supposed to break the cycle

Forgiveness is a tough and touchy subject, but it’s one of the many keys to creating capacity and healing. There is a ton of research that links our mental and physical wellbeing to forgiveness, so I want to shed a bit of extra light on this topic.

How Forgiveness Impacts Capacity

  • Takes up your mental capacity
  • Keeps you in the guilt and shame spiral
  • Causes anxiety and depression
  • Keeps you stuck and
  • Prolongs your healing journey

The Benefits of Forgiving Yourself

  • Higher levels of success
  • Healthier relationships
  • Increased productivity and focus
  • Rebuilds self trust, confidence and self-esteem
  • Better physical, mental and emotional health

Healing is one of those new buzz words, like work-life balance… but it’s necessary for both personal and professional success. And healing from trauma specifically, is especially necessary. Many of us are walking around with unhealed trauma and don’t even realize how its affecting our relationships, energy and money.

That’s exactly why in today’s episode, I talk with licensed psychologist, Dr. Lauren Smith. She is helping us and the communities around her do the work to heal from trauma. As a clinical psychologist, her expertise is in trauma-informed services, and she uses it at her consulting firm, Creating Healing Interventions (C.H.I.) and throughout the community to equip people with the knowledge to support healing and wellness within themselves and others.

In this episode, Lauren shares the definition of trauma, how trauma shows up, reasons why we don’t seek help, and ways to find the help you need.

Examples of Trauma:

  • Hearing traumatic stories
  • Bullying
  • Covid19
  • Domestic Violence

Tips to Find the Help you Need:

  • Interview your providers
  • Do your research for cultural fit
  • Check their reviews
  • Take the lead in your health

Have you ever had back to back changes in your personal and professional life? Did you power through the changes because that’s what you’re used to doing? Of course you have! I asked those questions because on the other side of those changes, many of us struggle with something called identity loss, but we don’t exactly call it that.

Identity loss happens when you experience dramatic life changes such as losing social relationships (think pandemic/isolation and losing loved ones), losing a job (again, pandemic) and in general when you lose your sense of self and self-with due to all the changes.

In today’s episode, I talk with Sandra Ocasio about her experience with identity loss. After moving from Las Vegas to a small town in Florida in 2016 due to her husband’s role in the military, Sandra thought she was losing her mind but she really lost her identity. She goes in to detail to help us understand:

  • What identity loss looks and feels like
  • Some of the triggers or symptoms
  • How to reclaim your identity

She graciously shares what she calls the S.T.E.P.U.P. Method and how she used it to rebuild her life as a Digital Launch Coach who now helps coaches launch five and six figure coaching programs.

STEP UP Method:

S - Self Awareness

T - Therapy for Trauma

E - Expand your Mindset

P - Personal Development

U - Upgrade your Vision

P - Pursue Purpose w/Unshakable Passion

Branding is something you need whether you know it or not. In fact, you are a walking brand all by yourself. What most don’t realize though, is that there’s so much more to branding than logos, pretty colors and font choices.

In today’s episode, I talk with Aaja Corinne Magee, a Chicago-based branding strategist, messaging specialist, and speaker who helps purpose-driven entrepreneurs and leaders to become the undeniable choice. She specializes in the art of communication, partnering with clients to bring synergy to their purpose and profession, raise their profile, and increase their influence, so that they are positioned to create impact on a greater scale.

She gives all the tea on how to build your brand from the inside out, and shares three tips on how to show up as your authentic self to maximize your brand:

  1. Find you unique place

As an entrepreneur, have you ever heard, if you build it they will come? Welllll… it kinda works like that, but there’s a whole lot more that goes into it. What “they” don’t tell you is about the blood, sweat and tears that go into building a business and pursuing purpose… it ain't’ easy!

In today’s episode, I talk with multi-business owner, Leandra Roche. With over 25 years in the Beauty Industry, Leandra has been promoting, and advocating for healthy hair as a way of life. As a Licensed Cosmetology Instructor, Cosmetologist and Salon owner for over 20 years, she has serviced and dedicated her time to thousands of clients and many budding entrepreneurs.

Not only does Leandra have extraordinary skills in Professional Hair Styling, she also is a Master Educator of Cosmetology, an entrepreneur trailblazer and Team Leader like no other. Training others to do the same is her passion, which led to the creation of her hands-on educational and training course, The Salon Readiness Program. It’s aimed at helping those who want to get in the salon ownership business to be successful and have access to more than just doing hair.

Additionally, Leadra is the creator of the annual networking conference "The Dreamers Conference", which has been around for 6, going on 7 years, and is an event that educates and assists entrepreneurs with the necessary tools and resources to help them to succeed in business.

In this amazing episode, Leandra shares with us how to go from triage to triumph in our personal and professional lives:

How to go from Triage to Triumph

  1. Practice self awareness
  2. Speak life at all times
  3. Reinvent
  4. Pursue

After you’ve listened, I invite you to connect with us on social media. I love to hear how this is helping you, so make sure you tag me on Facebook or Instagram with your favorite takeaway from the episode.

Money makes the world go round, and how you handle it significantly impacts EVERY. SINGLE. AREA. of your life. Although I’m not a money expert, I can speak to how my lack of money management skills impacted my mental health (depression and anxiety), physical health (major hair loss), and of course my bank account (I was the payday loan queen, you hear me?)!!!

In today’s episode, I talk with the Wealthy BossBabe, Natasha Harris. She is a Realtor & Wealth & Biz Mentor located in Toronto, Canada. After paying off $20k in debt in just 18 months, Natasha has taken the valuable lessons she learned and now passes them on to other women who desire to live a holistically wealthy lifestyle through coaching, where money management, Increasing Income, Sales, and Real Estate Investing are the main focus.

She shares 3 tips you can use to get your Cash Flow together ASAP as well 3 tips to help you create and hit your income goals:

3 Tips You to Get Your Cash Flow Together:

  1. Put yourself first - meet your own money needs first
  2. Start where you are to pay off debt
  3. Practice self-care - taking care of your money is a form of self-care

3 Tips to Create and Hit Income Goals:

  1. Be intentional and specific with your budget
  2. Identify what you’re selling (product vs service)
  3. Create a pricing strategy to meet your goals

Free your mind and you a#$ will follow… (I didn’t say it, EnVogue did!), but you know it’s the truth.

Too many of us are running around with what I call “secret struggles”, and battling shame, guilt, low confidence or a combination of them all, when it comes to our past. Whether or we know it or not, unaddressed guilt, shame and trauma can take a toll on our mental, physical, and emotional health, our relationships and our finances… aka take up our capacity and block us from being able to flow and flourish.

That’s exactly why in today’s episode, I talk with Healing Coach, Latoya Mathews, who after years of dealing with shame and guilt, rediscovered the hope and freedom that she now helps other women accept and treasure.

Like the other episodes, get your pen and paper ready because she shares with us her 5 Pillars of Freedom, designed to help you heal, overcome self-doubt, release strongholds, and experience deep freedom from your deepest valleys.

5 Pillars of Freedom

  1. Peace Making
  2. Pattern Breaking,
  3. Personal Identity
  4. Permission to Dream
  5. Power of Habits

She also gives 4 tips to start your healing journey today:

Healing Journey Tips:

  1. Change your perspective
  2. Give yourself permission to change
  3. Be willing to change
  4. Get in some fresh soil

Listen to the episode to get the details on her story, her healing and how she’s helping women all over the world do the same thing and get free!

Confidence is something that I believe enters the room before you take your seat; its an attitude. Often times, things that happen in our personal and/or professional lives can either build or bust that confidence. As we celebrate women who are making history, I wanted to make sure as we kick off the celebration, we learn how to get our confidence together.

In today’s episode, I talk with Confidence Doula, Lynnecia Eley. As a wife, mom, Author, Assistant Dean at the prestigious Georgetown University, CEO of She Can Inspire and co-owner of Two-Queens Media and Soigne + Swank Magazine, she knows a thing or two about confidence. Lynnecia is a problem solver who is committed to teaching and inspiring entrepreneurs and leaders to transform their ideas by using strategies, mindset, confidence, and empowering others to create their own freedoms.

Get your pen and paper ready as she shares with us her six confidence mantras as well as three practical tips you can implement today.

Confidence Mantras:

  1. I AM AMAZING
  2. I CAN DO ANYTHING I SET MY MIND TO
  3. I LOVE MYSELF ALWAYS
  4. I AM A MAGNET TO GREAT THINGS
  5. I AM GRATEFUL
  6. I HAVE A PURPOSE

3 Tips You Can Use When Confidence is Missing:

  1. Fake it
  2. Take more risk
  3. Reprogram your default of doubting yourself

So this is for all my ladies who are in committed relationships (dating, engaged, married), and those of you who desire a committed relationship. We are talking about the “Miss Independent” mindset and how she shows up in and impacts our relationships.

In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Tamika McTier, who is a certified marriage facilitator, wife of 16 years, and mom of two. After becoming a teen mom, she was determined to push forward and achieve every goal that she set for herself without the help of a man. This attitude served her well professionally and financially, but created unexpected challenges in the early years of her marriage.

As you listen, make sure you have your pen and paper ready because Tamika is sharing both her experience and signature T.A.L.K. method with us so we can have happy and healthy relationships with our significant others.

When is the last time to you gave yourself permission to pause? Like REALLY pause from it all… unapologetically? At this time of year, especially, we run ourselves raggedy trying to show others how much we love them, we give more than we have, and at the end of the year many of us are at the end of our ropes. Literally and figuratively!

In today’s episode, I give you all the tea on giving myself permission to pause (and it was hard for me y’all), and more importantly I share a ton of information on how and why you should give your permission to pause too!

Specifically, I talk about that thoughts that come up when you consider pausing, some of the signs we see when it’s time to pause and then give you the rundown on the benefits of pausing:

3 Thoughts that Keep you from Pausing

  1. If I don’t do it, it won’t get done
  2. I don’t have time to pause
  3. What will other people think

4 Signs You Need to Pause

  1. You have NO motivation
  2. Your energy is on E
  3. You’re restless (sleep, thinking, decision making)
  4. You are physically in pain

Benefits of Pausing

  1. Peace of mind
  2. Refocus + Re-evaluate
  3. Increased Clarity + Creativity

After spending over 18 years in Corporate America, I, like many other women of color, came to the painful realization that it’s not set up to support us. However, we have the power to change that by having transparent conversations.

This has fueled my work as both an HR leader and Capacity Coach, as I’ve made it my mission to help as many women and business as possible to understand how our professional lives are impacted by what’s going on in our personal lives.

In today’s episode, I talk openly and honestly about my experience as an HR leader and being a Black Woman. I share tips on

  • How black women can navigate corporate
  • Why business need diversity, equity + inclusion
  • What each of us can do to change this harsh reality

After you’ve listened, I invite you to connect with me in social media. I love to hear how this is helping you, so make sure you tag me on Facebook or Instagram with your favorite takeaway from the episode.

Do you work your muscles on a regular basis? In order for them to function properly and support us like they’re supposed to, we gotta work ‘em out! But for some reason, we don’t always take that same approach when it comes to our faith… which is also a muscle!

In today’s episode, I talk with Faith Mentor, Daphne Butts, who after receiving a life altering health diagnosis at the age of 27, has used her faith to LITERALLY heal herself, and WITHOUT the doctor recommended medication. Yes, you heard me right!

Now, she uses the strength in her faith muscle to help other women of faith through her coaching company, Healing through Intentional Victory, by looking to God to work in three key areas:

Mindset - shifting it to support you

Mouthpiece - what you speak over yourself

Management - managing what you intake

Daphne gives us all kinda nuggets to help us get our #faithflow together. Listen to this week’s episode to learn how to:

  1. Build our faith muscle
  2. Begin practicing obedience
  3. To start talking to God

Now that we are officially in the last quarter of the year, I want you to take some time and think about all that you've already accomplished. Instead of focusing on what you DIDN’T get done on your list of goals, let’s shift to what you DID do!

Because we are in the age of instant success + instant gratification, it’s soooooo easy to minimize the small things you’ve done that have gotten you where you are today. That’s why I believe it’s essential, not just important, to celebrate the small stuff.

In today’s episode, I share with you:

  • 5 Reasons why you need to celebrate your wins
  • 5 Tips you can use to celebrate those wins
  • 5 Small wins I’m celebrating going in to 2022

After you’ve listened, I invite you to connect with me on social media. I love to hear how this is helping you, so make sure you tag me on Facebook or Instagram with your favorite takeaway from the episode, as well as what win you’re celebrating this week.

I know it may sound weird at first to say or think to yourself – I am a business… but you really are.  And you are BIG   BUSINESS, as one of my coaches and mentors Brittany Burrell says. Whether you are working on your personal or professional relationships, climbing the corporate ladder, or pitching your business for partnerships, you have to understand your value.

In today’s episode, I talk with the CEO of Opulent Outcomes Coaching and Consulting, LLC, Cassandra Alexis. She shares her 20+ years of experience working as a global marketer for companies such as Disney and Exon Mobile and why each and everyone one of us needs to live and run our lives like the businesses we are. She gives tips on how to start:

  • Unlocking and understanding your unique value

As a Wife, Mother and woman of faith, she is called to minister and mentor women and passionate about helping women reinvent themselves following their worst setbacks, find their voices and build businesses with their stories.

Show Notes – Ep. 42 The Truth About Work Life Balance

When you think of work life balance what is the first thing that comes to mind for you? Have you ever asked yourself if work-life balance is even a “real” thing? No shame… I was part of that group too!

I used to believe there was no such thing. And, I confused work-life balance with capacity. I learned the hard way that they really are different but work together like yin and yang.

In this week’s episode I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing my sister-friend, the CEO, Career Strategist and Coach of Visionary Initiatives, LLC, Latika Vines. We tell you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about work-life balance.

Tune in to learn:

  • What a B.O.S.S. M.O.M. Coach is
  • The difference between work-life balance and capacity
  • How your career fulfillment impacts your balance

You’ll also get a some practical tips you can create balance in your life TUH-DAY!!!!!.

6 Steps to Creating Work-life Balance

  1. Conduct a personal productivity hour every week (start today)
  2. List everything you need to get done (personally & professionally) for the week
  3. Ask yourself if you have the capacity to do everything from step 2 (my guess is no ma’am)
  4. Prioritize that list – what’s important vs. essential?
  5. Put it in your calendar (yes, get it out of head, off the paper and into your schedule)
  6. Share it with your family (keeps everyone on the same page😉)

After you’ve listened, I invite you to connect with us in social media. I love to hear how this is helping you, so make sure you tag me on Facebook or Instagram with your favorite takeaway from the episode.

As a Capacity Coach, my philosophy is that when you flow effortlessly, you flourish tremendously. And when you do, it allows you to show up in excellence in all the areas of your life. Because I’ve been in your shoes, I am excited to be your guide on this journey. My promise is to help you increase your capacity by creating balance between your personal and professional life, without ever having to sacrifice yourself, your family, and what matters most to you!

In this week’s episode, I give you all the goodies, including:

Many of us are either in corporate, an entrepreneur of a combination of the two, on top of being moms, wives, caregivers, big sister’s or just the go-to person in our circles of friends and families. Having all that responsibility can leave you overwhelmed and depleted if you don’t take inventory of where you’re at on a regular basis.

I don’t know about you but I’ve been waiting ALL year for this particular time of year. I love spring, the flowers, warm weather and all the sunshine that comes with this season. It’s also prime graduation season for most of the world, and we have 3 graduates in the Rhone household:

  1. Our daughter is graduating high school (OMG… where did 18 years go)
  2. Our son is graduating from kindergarten (OMG my baby is NOT a baby)
  3. I/we are graduating to new levels of parenting, marriage & entrepreneurship

Yup, we are ALL graduating over here! In this week’s podcast episode, I talk it about how I personally am graduating in this season, and give you a few tips on how I’m navigating this new lane. Although I’m talking a lot about parenting, the tips I share can be applied to both your personal and professional life.

Graduation Tips:

  • Acknowledge how you feel
  • Embrace the change
  • Be a Consultant not the CEO
  • Trust the seeds you’ve planted
  • Reconnect with yourself

Because I know everything is easier said than done, I also give you some advice on HOW to reconnect with yourself

3 Ways to Reconnect

  1. Get quiet-quiet
  2. Define “fun” for you NOW
  3. Date YOU… yes YOU

Did you know that 17 million people in the US alone struggle with alcohol addiction, and only 10% seek help? Did you know that alcohol related death ranks as the #3 leading cause a death, right behind smoking and poor diet? Me neither, until I did my research!

Because I believe awareness is the key that unlocks all the doors in our lives, I am talking about an epidemic you rarely hear about: alcoholism. Not only have I witnessed the impacts of alcoholism, I’ve also been an enabler. In this episode, I’m helping you understand the key risk factors that make you more susceptible, how alcoholism impacts your different areas of flow, some of the red flags to look out for, and how to get help for you or someone you love.

The 4 Risk Factors that make you more susceptible to this disease:

  1. Environment (Parents, siblings, close relatives)
  2. Mental Health Conditions (Anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, etc.)
  3. Low self-esteem (how you think and feel about yourself)
  4. High levels of stress (i.e. work stress, family stress & being the “one”)

The Impact it has on your different areas of flow:

  1. Cash flow – sending while intoxicated
  2. Work flow – decreased work performance
  3. Health flow – increased medical risks

5 Red flags to look for:

  1. Making excuses to drink (I work hard, it’s just to relax)
  2. Increased tolerance to get a buzz
  3. Strong cravings to drink that are unmanageable
  4. Continuing to drink even when it creates problems at work, with family or friends
  5. Drinking in secrecy to hide it from friends or family

How to get help:

  1. Recognize your role (alcoholic or potential enabler)
  2. Make a decision to address the elephant in the room
  3. Seek outside help through a professional
    1. Local Behavioral Health Hospital for addiction
    2. Local Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) aa.org
    3. Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (www.samhsa.gov)

Have you ever avoided talking about money with your other half because you just KNEW it would end in argument? Or, have you ever avoided checking your mail (email included) because you didn’t want to open bills? Listen to me when I tell you I’ve been there and done that!

And, know that you are NOT alone!!!

  • 75% of people who are stressed about money experience physical symptoms.
  • 65% of Americans feel like their financial problems are too overwhelming to be resolved.
  • 53% of employees say financial stress interferes with work.

In today’s episode “Money Makeover” Financial Educator and Executive Coach Rhonda Williams spills the tea on how to manage our stress when it comes to our cash flow. If money stresses you out, this episode gives you 3 tips (and then some) on how to flow and flourish in this pillar. Start by asking yourself:

  • What are your values and motivation when it comes to money?

  • Where is your money going?

  • How much is the deficit?

Having all that responsibility can leave you overwhelmed and depleted if you don’t take inventory of where you’re at on a regular basis.

In today’s Flow and Flourish Flashback, “Take Inventory of the Relationship with Yourself” I talk about how important it is to understand what’s important to you. As high-achieving women, we can get lost in the middle of all that we are doing, and often times lose our identity. I want to remind you that your relationship with you impacts everyone around you, it determines who/what you spend your time on, and if whether or not you achieve your goals. I ask you to reflect on the three questions below as you take inventory of your relationship with yourself:

  1. What do you value?
  2. Do you know you have a choice?
  3. Do your actions match what you say you value?

People pleasing in a nutshell is trying to make others happy, but at the expense of your own needs, wants and happiness. Often times we may think we are just being “nice” but it’s sooooo much more that, especially when being “nice” includes self-sacrifice and not expressing how you truly feel.

In today’s episode “Are You a People Pleaser” Fitness Coach turned Life Coach Samantha Washington talks about her journey of people pleasing and shares with us:

  • How people pleasing shows up and signs to look for
  • Where it comes from and why we do it
  • How it’s connected to confidence and codependence

Money can be a taboo topic, but part of my goal in creating this podcast is to change that. Even though we know that money makes the world go round, too often we aren’t having the necessary conversations to set us up for financial success. For that very reason, in this episode, I am talking with Financial Wellness Coach, Gayle Rice

In today’s episode “Do You Have Financial Confidence” Gayle shares the impact financial deprivation has on your capacity, as well as tips to increase your financial confidence. You’ll learn

  • How to define what “winning” looks like in your cash flow… for YOU
  • The difference between financial wellness and financial confidence

As we continue to celebrate Women’s History Month, I believe it’s important that we take a minute to check in with how we feel. So much has changed in the last year, yet many of us just keep going because it’s what we’re “supposed” to do.

In today’s episode “What are you Grieving?” I talk with Therapist and Grief Coach, Herdyne Mercier. She helps us unpack what it means to grieve, and shares:

  • Why grief is normal
  • How to redefine it for your self
  • How it impacts your capacity

Welcome to the Flow and Flourish Podcast. This is what I like to call a “sister-friend” community, which is the safe space to talk openly and honestly about the challenges we face while managing the competing priorities between our personal and professional lives. Many of us are either in corporate, an entrepreneur of a combination of the two, on top of being moms, wives, caregivers, big sister’s or just the go-to person in our circles of friends and families. Having all that responsibility can leave you overwhelmed and depleted if you don’t take inventory of where you’re at on a regular basis.

In honor of Women’s History month, I am talking all month long with amazing women who are making history in their own right, in each of the five flow pillars. Continuing this series, and focusing on our Health Flow, I have Dr. Nicole Washington.

In today’s episode “Mental Health is Your Wealth” I talk with Dr. Nicole Washington, D.O. Nicole is a Psychiatrist and help high-functioning women manage their mental health through a variety of services through her private practice Dr. Nicole Psych.

Throughout the episode, Nicole shares:

  • Why she opened her private practice
  • Signs you might have depression
  • Tips on managing your mental health

After you’ve listened, I invite you to connect with me in social media. I love to hear how this is helping you, so make sure you tag me on Facebook or Instagram with your favorite takeaway from the episode.

In honor of Women’s History month, I am talking all month long with amazing women who are making history in their own right, in each of the five flow pillars. To start this celebration, I am kicking us off with the  Women Making History Series!!!

In today’s episode “Embrace the History You’re Making” I start by giving you an overview of what you can expect on the podcast this entire month. Then, I give you some homework (for the first time ever!!!), along with the chance to win a $25 Amazon Gift Card.

I tell you how:

  • Being “the one” literally means being a history maker
  • Your history making is paving the way for others
  • Embracing your greatness helps others do it too

As for this homework… in order to qualify for the gift card, you gotta do it! Here are your instructions:

  1. Create a list of accomplishments and/or ways you’ve made or are making history (write whatever comes up)
  2. Narrow down the list and pick your top 3
  3. Share one or all three on social media and tag me with #Iamahistorymaker

To entire purpose for this “homework” is to help you get comfortable celebrating yourself, and to help other women see that it’s ok to do the same thing. We are all leading by example!

After you’ve listened, I invite you to connect with me in social media. I love to hear how this is helping you, so make sure you tag me on Facebook or Instagram with your favorite takeaway from the episode.

In today’s episode “What Do You Need To Make Room For” I kickoff season 2 of the podcast and am talking about making room for what you want to accomplish in 2021. Too often, we are holding onto things that no longer serve us, and are demonstrating what I call “Hoarder Tendencies”. Yup, just like the show! I share the 3 areas where you need to make clear out in your life, so that you can increase your capacity:

  1. Your Head: This includes your thoughts- especially those limiting beliefs.
  2. You Heart: This includes fear, guilt, shame, and forgiveness.
  3. Your House: This is physically (stuff) and emotionally – relationships in your house.

Having all that responsibility can leave you overwhelmed and depleted if you don’t take inventory of where you’re at on a regular basis.

In today’s episode “Welcome to the Wellness Revolution” I talk with Danielle Washington, Founder and Host of the Hella Well with Danielle Podcast, and creator of the Wellness Revolution for Women of Color. We discuss her self-care journey, go deeper into why self-care is an inside job and I learn how she is redefining wellness for all women of color.

Danielle D. Washington is the founder of Rogue Experiences, a wellness travel company, and host of the Hella Well With Danielle podcast, where she teaches women of color how to strike the elusive balance between the lives they have and the lives they want. She approaches this through her transformational coaching method called the A.I.R. Journey, self-care travel excursions, Reiki, and other wellness modalities. Through her personal experiences and training, Danielle helps women get to the root of their limiting beliefs and interrupt the patterns that no longer serve them so that they can redefine their habits to be in alignment with a life they truly desire, and not one where they are simply surviving. Her mantra is “put your mask on first,” which stands as a reminder that making yourself a priority is the ultimate act of self-love.

My philosophy is that when you flow effortlessly, you flourish tremendously. And when you do, it allows you to show up in excellence in all the areas of your life. Because I’ve been in your shoes, I am excited to be your guide on this journey. My promise is to help you create balance between your personal and professional life, without ever having to sacrifice yourself, your family, and what matters most to you!

In today’s episode “Who’s Gonna Save the Hero?”, I talk about having a support system, aka a “Circle of Influence” and give you suggestions on how to identify and grow your support system, even if you already have one! You probably know by now that when you level up your life, some of the people who supported you before may not be able to support the flourishing version of you. That means you must re-evaluate and re-adjust. Specifically, I focus on 3 areas:

  1. What is a support system – and a healthy one at that
  2. Why you need a support system.
  3. How to create or level-up your support system

My philosophy is that when you flow effortlessly, you flourish tremendously. And when you do, it allows you to show up in excellence in all the areas of your life. You need support in order to do that, no matter how independent you are. As your guide on this journey, my promise is to help you create balance between your personal and professional life, without ever having to sacrifice yourself, your family, and what matters most to you!
