Ashley tried everything. She tried all the diets: Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, SlimFast, Houston Methodist Medical Weight Management program. Even after a gastric sleeve, her weight climbed back up to 320 lbs.
Going to therapy for binge eating was good, but still didn’t help her lose weight.
In 2024, exhausted from trying to lose weight yet again, she thought, “screw it, if I’m going to be fat, why not just get rid of my double chin?” So she decided to have neck lift surgery and found Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Bob Basu, and that’s where she discovered GLP-1s by accident.
Not long after that, she started on the medication and the rest is history.

Because it can take 12-18 months for swelling to go down and final results to show after a rhinoplasty, it’s important to set aside your worries while healing.
Normal recovery aside, if you’ve had a rhinoplasty and your results don’t look the way you expected, Dr. DeBusk breaks down the common reasons for revision surgery, including irregular contours on the nasal bridge, Pollybeak deformity (downward facing tip), and functional problems.
One of the only reasons a revision rhinoplasty would be done less than 12 months after the initial procedure is saddle nose deformity, in which the bridge sinks into a saddle shape.

After a lifetime trapped in her body, Charisse changed her relationship with food and lost 192 pounds. Left with painful loose skin, she researched plastic surgeons with body lift experience in Houston and reached out to Dr. Basu for help. Over 300 pounds at her heaviest, Charisse recalls the moment on a cruise ship that pushed her to change her life. As her body grew smaller, the extra skin became an uncomfortable daily reminder of the person she left behind.
