The discussion opened with insights from Amy Edmondson and Brené Brown, highlighting how trust is built incrementally through "micro moments" and the critical role of vulnerability. Asha shared a powerful personal anecdote of how her vulnerability during a challenging period in Bangladesh fostered deep team connection and enabled significant professional achievements. The conversation then expanded to practical strategies, including The Elevate School's CBI (Credibility, Benevolence, Integrity) framework for assessing and building trust. They also tackled the unique challenges of cultivating trust in today's unpredictable, hybrid work environments, emphasizing the paramount importance of a leader's consistent "presence." Finally, Smita and Asha offered actionable takeaways for both new and seasoned leaders to continuously strengthen trust, underscoring that a truly trustworthy leader models the desired behaviors and fosters a culture of open communication, accountability, and genuine human connection.
Key Takeaways and Learnings:Trust as the Foundation of Teamwork: Trust is the "invisible thread" and "oxygen" that creates psychologically safe spaces, enabling individuals to be authentic, take risks, and foster high-performing collaboration.
Micro Moments Build Macro Trust: Trust is not built through grand gestures but through consistent, small, daily interactions and acknowledgments, as highlighted by Brené Brown's "sliding door moments."
The Power of Vulnerability (When Appropriate): Leaders' vulnerability, when coupled with steadiness and appropriate timing, fosters deeper connections and relatability. Asha's personal story exemplified how accepting help during a vulnerable time transformed her leadership journey and built immense trust.
The CBI Framework for Trust: A robust framework for assessing and building trust involves:
Credibility & Competence: Demonstrating knowledge, skills, and the ability to effectively fulfill responsibilities, proving you "walk the talk."
Benevolence: Showing genuine care and concern for team well-being, consistency in kind actions, taking responsibility, and ensuring people feel seen and supported.
Integrity: Maintaining consistency between words and actions, adhering to ethical principles, honesty, and giving credit where it is due.
Consistency is Non-Negotiable: For all aspects of trust-building, consistency in a leader's behavior is vital for dependability and to avoid confusion or mistrust within the team.
Strategic Presence in Hybrid Work: In remote or hybrid settings, maintaining a leader's "presence" (even virtually) is crucial for building trust, fostering connection, and ensuring team members feel engaged and not isolated. This requires intentional check-ins and empathetic communication.
Tailored Trust-Building Approaches:
For New Leaders: Focus on humility, active listening, observing, showing genuine respect for existing structures, and thoughtfully offering input that supports rather than overshadows.
For Seasoned Leaders: Leverage immense wisdom and experience by continuing personal growth, learning, and adapting to new viewpoints and generations, becoming profoundly inspiring through evolving relevance.
Indicators of High-Trust Teams: Teams with strong trust exhibit candid and respectful conversations, open sharing of diverse opinions, shared ownership of mistakes, reduced politics, increased collaboration, and a clear focus on collective goals.
Practical Steps for Strengthening Trust: Regular practices include checking in personally (beyond just tasks), recognizing efforts and planning (not just outcomes), modeling accountability by owning mistakes, and leading with consistent, thoughtful intention. "Cultural listening" – observing subtle team dynamics – offers powerful insights.
Model the Desired Behavior: The most effective way for leaders to build trustworthiness is to embody the behaviors they wish to see in their team, setting the "tone at the top" through their actions rather than just words.
Key Takeaways:Eco-Systemic Coaching is Holistic: This approach goes beyond individual development, focusing on how leaders and teams operate within the broader organizational system and its interdependencies.
Balancing Ask vs. Tell: Effective leaders blend directive and coaching styles, understanding when to empower through questions and when to provide clear instructions.
Presence and Observation are Crucial: A leader's conscious presence and the ability to observe non-verbal cues are vital for fostering trust and ensuring all voices are heard within a team.
Coaching Culture Requires Intentionality: Building a coaching culture involves top-down leadership modeling, formal skill development for managers, and the measurement and reward of coaching behaviors.
Human Connection Remains Paramount: Despite advancements in AI, the unique human elements of intuition, empathy, and making individuals feel seen and heard are irreplaceable in coaching.
Key TakeawaysStories transcend information: They build emotional connections, spark change, and offer a sense of possibility, making lessons memorable.
Communicate the "why": Effective storytelling focuses on the purpose or benefit, not just the "what" (features) of a product, service, or company. Examples like Wipro's integrity, Starbucks' commitment to coffee experience, and Patagonia's environmental mission illustrate this powerfully.
"Facts tell, stories sell": Narratives are far more persuasive than data alone, engaging audiences on a deeper, emotional level.
Storytelling is a versatile tool: It's effective for inculcating values, differentiating brands, recruiting talent (e.g., Google's unique recruitment puzzles), and fostering employee engagement.
Leaders can cultivate this skill: Practice telling stories that are truthful, purposeful, simple, relatable (real-life references), and incorporate strategic vulnerability to inspire and connect with teams.

Koans challenge our assumptions. By presenting seemingly nonsensical questions, they dismantle our reliance on logic and open us to new perspectives. They bypass intellectual understanding, instead pointing us towards a direct experience of reality that transcends language. This process can be frustrating, dismantling our ego's need for control and certainty. However, by surrendering to the mystery, we embark on a transformative journey.
Engaging with koans cultivates valuable qualities. Our intuition sharpens as we learn to understand beyond reason. We become more present, focusing intensely on the "here and now" as we grapple with the paradoxes presented. Finally, the disorientation caused by koans can foster compassion, allowing us to see the universality of human experience and connect with all beings on a deeper level.
In essence, Zen koans are not about finding answers, but about experiencing a transformative process that leads to heightened awareness and a more compassionate understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Vinita’s coaching style was simplistic and effective. What stood out, the most was the way she picked up on the metaphors that were dropped and expanded them. And this was also how most of the exploration was done. This in turn made it easier for the client to relate and made the session a success

What do coaches need to know about the brain and what is the best strategy for getting clients primed for breakthrough thinking? In this webinar, we explore the relevance of neuroscience in coaching with Josie Thompson, a multi-award winning executive coach based in Brisbane, Australia who has pioneered the use of neuroscience principles in working with business leaders around the globe.
Wondered what local marketing is and how it can help you grow your business and connect with the right client? In this webinar, we go over local marketing and some tips that you can easily apply to grow your business.
Self-Care for Coaches. Self-care is one topic that we can never talk enough about, as there is so much to it! And a very interesting thing about it is that everyone has a different way of approaching it. As coaches, we are always trying our best to do things that are going to help our clients. But sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves. In this webinar, Magda talks to practising coaches -Tracy and Beth about what self-care means to them, the importance of it especially as coaches and various helpful self-care practices.
Powerful Questioning is a myth. Fortunately, it has been deleted from the revised ICF competency framework, leaving Active Listening as the only competency under the category of Communication, instead of the earlier three. Powerful Questions arise from powerful, active, empathetic, observant and generative listening. Mastering listening, using frameworks of Carl Rogers and Otto Scharmer, is the most effective way in creating coaching presence, leading to humble inquiry that evokes awareness. In this discussion anchored by Cindy, the panel explores how best to ask questions that are evocative through better listening.
David Clutterbuck, co-founder and lifetime ambassador of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, has authored over 70 books and is visiting professor at 4 universities.
Getting down and dirty: Coaches ignore politics at their peril
Politics plays a major role in every part of our lives. Although as coaches we like to see ourselves as above the murk of political intrigue, the reality is that we cannot avoid politics (with a small “p”), whether it is in helping our clients navigate through the complexities of organizational loyalties, the rivalries between professional bodies, or how we position our own coaching practice versus those of competitors. If we want to be authentic, we can’t be political. Yet we can’t survive without being politically aware and politically astute.
So, what does this mean for us in how we manage ourselves and our client relationships? And in how we help clients remain authentic in sometimes toxic organizational environments? What political dilemmas do coaches commonly encounter and what challenges do these provide for us? In this pre-summit webinar, we shall explore all these questions and more.
A panel consisting of current coach training learners and Master coaches come together to discuss the benefits of self-coaching and the application of coaching concepts to daily life.
If you are thinking of becoming a coach, this session will give you a glimpse of the personal growth that you can experience during coach training.
In coaching, we stop being the problem-solver to people. We step up by encouraging people to solve problems for themselves. We are future-focused. What goes on in a person's brain and neurochemistry when we are enabling them to think this way? In this two-part conversation, we explore some of the coaching frameworks and their effect on the brain.

Have you ever wondered how using your voice and tone could make a difference while coaching? The philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said, “We often refuse to accept an idea merely because the tone of voice in which it has been expressed is unsympathetic to us.” In this webinar, we explore how our voice can be a powerful tool in creating a deeper and more authentic coaching presence.

Language is one of the most powerful tools available to the human species. Words are a way for us to build a database of knowledge, package our thoughts, and deliver it to others. This podcast will shed some light on understanding the meaning and feeling behind the words we hear from our clients. All the clues you need in order to personalize your coaching to your client are constantly emerging through the way your clients talk about themselves.

We have a lot to learn from animals - just ask Kelly Wendorf, whose life's work shows us what we can learn from horses about leadership. Kelly sat down with us for a chat about her work with horses, her journey to coaching and her book, Flying Lead Change, which released in October 2020, just after this session was recorded.
Studies show that only 26 to 33% of the change management initiatives in organizations are successful. Organizational culture is more about how people behave when no one is looking. This is because it is what happens ‘behind the scenes in the day-to-day lives of organizations and employees that make up culture. The greater the difference between the two, the lesser is employee morale and job satisfaction resulting in reduced commitment and low performance. In today’s VUCA world, organizations who’ll survive and thrive will be ones whose culture is systematically managed and not left on auto-pilot. In this session, you will learn about ‘Systemic Ways of Transforming Organizational Culture” right from measuring by creating awareness to inspiring action and continually improving through systemic coaching. This is based on the Consciousness Level Models and Tools from Graves / Barrett’s model. Our panellists will share their experiences of using these models in their coaching various organizations.
When was the last time that you asked yourself the questions that you ask your clients? How often do you take time out to define your own unique path? Do you have a purpose, a calling, a “raison d’être” in mind but are struggling to live it fully? During this webinar, we will look at finding a balance between your ego and your soul, stability between your ambition & your contribution, in order to support you moving forward on your individual journey. We invite you to write down the purpose that you have defined for yourself (or are in the process of defining). As you listen to this podcast, we will guide you through a practical activity that will help you look in-depth at the different levels that contribute to you achieving your goals.
Is coaching children the same as working with adults? Can coaching techniques be used with your own children? In today’s podcast, you will hear a discussion on this amazing topic from a panel of coaches who are also parents.
Why does the coach ask the client about the goal for each session when it is already defined at the start? How can coaches help the client to identify goals? What are some examples of SMART goal-setting and how does one measure success? What gets in the way of the client in achieving their goals? In this podcast, Cindy leads a panel discussion around these questions.

Fiona's approach to presence is through love and compassion. In this podcast, you will experience a master explaining in dialogue what it means to raise our awareness through love.
I coach & I lead as I am.
Everything derives from who I am. The more I know myself, the more I am aware of my resources, my gifts, my shades, my blind spots, the way I choose, my principles, my why, etc., and what to do with it, the wider, the clearer, the more full of possibilities and transformative power is the space I can hold for an impactful and empowering facilitation experience to happen.
This applies to every human being. It’s a universal Truth.
This is the first place where polarity thinking is useful for the coach. Within the list of coaching core competencies of the ICF are a series of implicit polarities.
Barry also discusses how polarity thinking can help the coaches determine which are problems they can solve and which are polarities that are inherently unsolvable. Finally, we cover the application of polarity thinking in helping the coachee leverage the inherent tension between the two poles of the individual and organizational polarities.
We all know about mindfulness, but what is mindlessness? This podcast is a fantastic place to learn about the concept and to understand how it can be applied to coaching.
We know that the focus for coaching is all about the client, however, latest developments in the industry confirm that we inevitably ‘appear’ in the coaching conversation in ways beyond what being aware of our values, beliefs and behaviours suggests. We already knew this, of course, and it’s refreshing to discover that our input is being backed by research.
To support the growing interest in relationships in coaching, you will be introduced to the PPR Relational Framework© created by Lise Lewis. This framework offers an approach for the coach to develop and adopt as a ‘way of being’ that stimulates cooperative engagement by both the coach and the client. The framework was originally designed specifically for those times when difficult feedback has to be shared and is now recognised as having a wider role of generally optimising coach-client relationships.
We often talk about time management to get all the things done that we want to get done, but what about energy management? Time is touted as the most important resource, but our special guest, Iftikhar Nameed, MCC, blows our minds by arguing that energy is more important.
Not only do we understand the importance of energy in our day-to-day lives, but we also learn how we can increase it to live a more fulfilled life and help our clients do the same. This is a very practical and simple guide to understand how energy can be included in the coaching conversation.

As a coach, our own presence plays a significant role. Are we coming from authenticity within ourselves or are our ego-patterns leading the way? And how would we know? Each client looks for a relatable presence in the chemistry conversation. When our presence is anchored and authentic a client feels safe, and a relationship of trust is established instantaneously. The power of our authentic presence then facilitates our clients to open up and connect with a deeper reality, one they may unconsciously keep hidden. When our way of being is grounded within our authentic self, we give permission for others to turn inward and awaken to the existence of their own authentic self. This powerful awakening unleashes a whole new paradigm of leadership potential.

Without exception, every major challenge for our fast-changing world requires moral leadership — leaders who show courage, compassion, curiosity and connected-ness. A critical competence is the ability to recognise and manage ethical dilemmas with insight and wisdom. It is so easy for coaches to restrict the scope of their practice to the comfortable cycle of client-issue-coach. Yet this is like a school teaching its students to pass exams without developing them as concerned and caring human beings. The global ethical climate is in part our responsibility as coaches. In this webinar, David Clutterbuck will share tools and approaches that will help us take on these responsibilities, so we can contribute to creating the ethical leaders our world so desperately needs.

Peter takes us through multiple pathways of concepts, techniques, processes, discussions, and practice that need to be experienced.
-What if we, as coaches started with these questions with their clients, whether individually or in teams?
-How can we partner together to help you and the people around you in the best way, now and in the future?
-Who are those around you who may in some way be influenced by what we are now exploring? What would they be saying? How can you respond?
-Would you like to role-play with me now on how you would commune with them on how they may influence you and you influence them?
-What would your own self 20 years from now like to say to you now that may be of value to you? Would you like to say that to me now?

Ontological Coaching is characterized by coaching to Way of Being. Our Way of Being is the underlying driver of communication and behaviour. Our perceptions and attitudes, many of which may be deep-seated and out of awareness, exist in our Way of Being. Change in these perceptions and attitudes can result in the removal of significant barriers to learning, and the spontaneous development of more effective patterns of communication and behaviour. Way of Being is regarded as a dynamic interrelationship between three areas of human existence – language, emotions, and body. Coaching in all three areas of language, emotions, and body has the potential to be transformative, for it can generate profound learning and deep constructive change.

Coaching should empower coachees to discover themselves, realize their potential and connect with their purpose, with the coach as a creative and supportive partner within this journey. While the nature of a coach’s mindset, emotions, and thoughts all have an effect on the coaching relationship, the ‘Being’ of the Coach is the most fundamental aspect of coaching. It defines the quality of the holding space that the coach enables within a coaching partnership, from which possibilities emerge. By default, our self-awareness is often limited to that which we know, and that which we are conscious of not knowing. Ontology opens up a hidden window showing us what we unknowingly don’t know about ourselves. It reveals a space that, although unperceived by us, is often silently commanding us: directing our thoughts and influencing our shifting mental, emotional and physical states. This 125-hour ACTP training program offers a deep journey into this abstract space guided by decades of research from well-known philosophers and ontological experts while aligning with and complementing the coaching competencies specified by the International Coaching Federation and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council. Within this immersion of ontological conversations, the participant will find within themselves enhanced awareness and self-expression. Details and Registration:

Individual and systemic issues are intertwined. How a person experiences the system has a profound impact on role taking and systemic membership. The EUM framework is bifocal- it maps both the individual and the system. While the issues of relatedness between the individual and the system are universal, their manifestation varies across different cultures. The cross cultural panel will explore these cultural nuances using the EUM framework.

Mediation is a collaborative conflict resolution mechanism that enables parties in conflicts with the aid of a neutral to reach a mutually acceptable resolution. The focus is on understanding perspectives, identifying interests and facilitating a constructive negotiation in a confidential, timely and cost-efficient manner. This requires specialized skills to enable conflicting parties to:
– Gain clarity about their situation including an understanding of interests and needs -Understand the perspective of the opposite party
– Reality testing as well as understanding alternatives – Generate and evaluate creative options
– Support the parties to engage in a constructive negotiation and finding a mutually acceptable solution.
The parallels between coaching and mediation are immense. CAMP & Coacharya bring to you a brainstorming session to understand the basics of the mediation process and how coaches can use mediation skills to enhance their capacity to manage conflict effectively.

The coaching challenge is, people want transformation but they just don’t want to change. Join Leon VanderPol, founder of the Center for Transformational Coaching & Living, and Dr. Rosie Kuhn, founder of The Paradigm Shifts Coaching Group, for a dialogue on what it takes to support the kind of change that is more than a slight deviation from the status-quo, but change that shakes the foundation of our self-identity and world-view. It’s when confronted with this reality that people will resist, balk, or find ways to avoid the hard work it takes. In this panel discussion, we will dive into the question of how we can effectively work with and coach this existential dilemma.

Barry Johnson, author of Polarity Management provides a powerful process to move from our normal ‘either/or’ to a ‘both/and’ thinking approach. In our experience 80% of coaching issues are about dilemmas, paradoxes or polarities. Client wonders what do I choose amongst these options, this or that. Most coaches help explore the good and the bad, the pros and cons, of the options in front of the client and choose the one where the scales go down. As Frost famously observed in his ‘Road less travelled’ that does not work too well.
When we choose one road over another, either because it is less or more travelled, the grass always looks greener on the one we didn’t choose, mixing metaphors a bit. Whatever we choose, we have regrets about what we didn’t opt for based on mismatched expectations and results. The answer lies in choosing the middle path or seeking the Third Truth.
Fons Trompenaars talks about this Third Truth as Reconciliation in a cross cultural context. You may like to read about his wisdom on reconciling differences.
Polarity Management is about seeking the Third Truth. Johnson lists these as 5 key steps in his process.

Politics plays a major role in every part of our lives. Although as coaches we like to see ourselves as above the murk of political intrigue, the reality is that we cannot avoid politics. In this podcast, David Clutterbuck, co-founder and lifetime ambassador of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council talks about how we can help navigate our client through the complexities of organizational loyalties, the rivalries between professional bodies, or how we position our own coaching practice versus those of competitors. This podcast explores topics such as
What is a political dilemma?
How do the mental models of politicians differ from others’?
Is politics (small p) in the top teams of corporations really that different from Politics (big P) in government and opposition?
How do you recognize politics at play?
The coach as the power behind the throne — if all power corrupts, do coaches become corrupted by association?
The critical difference between being political and being politically aware
What role can coaches play in helping politicians and leaders in politicized environments be self-honest and make ethical decisions?
Can politicians coach and mentor each other?
What lessons and pitfalls are there for coaches in the concept of expediency?
The ameliorating effect of a bloody-minded executive (Long live Sir Humphrey!)
What are the challenges for supervisors, working with coaches whose clients work in a political environment?

CEO and Executive Director of ICF, Magda Mook, discussed how coaching made its way from purely individual application to corporate setting and now to not-for-profit world. It is about the awareness of what coaching can do in societal progress, greater attention coaches pay to the impact of their work and the work of their clients and the overall urgency to pay attention to “what can be the greatest contribution coaching can offer to humanity”.
