Renewal Church exists to ReDiscover FAITH by pointing to Jesus Christ, to ReNew HOPE through relational discipleship communities, and to ReAwaken LOVE for every man, woman, and child, that they may experience the Gospel.
Christians do not need to fear death because Jesus has gone before us and conquered the grave.
The righteous Jesus was condemned by unrighteous man to take the condemnation of man on Himself.
The complete obedience of Christ to the Father has made forgiveness available to all mankind because of His righteousness.
Jesus brought the Kingdom of Heaven into the world by humility rather than the ways of the world.
Sinful man denies God in a quest for life. Jesus obeyed God to the point of death to give us life.
Everyone will face judgment that will be based on true faith in Jesus that bore fruit in our lives.
Jesus will return. But since we don't know when, we must be ready by being faithful servants.
At the end of the age this world will pass away. But Jesus will return in glory to gather His people and set all things new.
God's judgment for sin is real and terrible. But that makes His salvation all the more amazing.
Although God puts governments over people in certain spheres of life, we are to give ourselves to God.
Accepting the invitation is not enough, you can’t stand before the Lord dressed in anything other than the righteousness of Christ
Israel rejected Jesus thinking that He was not necessary for the faith. However, Jesus is not only a part of the faith, He is central to the faith. Without Jesus the Messiah, the entire faith crumbles.

This week, as we continue in our Disciples sermon series, I am interviewing Kensia Russell to talk about what it looks like to live by the Spirit.
Disciples of Jesus have been given the Holy Spirit and they live by Him, not by the sinful nature.

Even though we are separated from God because of sin, we are reconciled to Him by grace through faith in Jesus Christ
Though we may feel inadequate for the work God calls us to, the presence and promise of God gives us strength for the task.
Communion is a repeated picture and proclamation of being members in the New Covenant by the cross of Christ.
When dealing with politics, Christians should think about what God expects from governments and seek to live righteously under them for His glory.

To combat false teaching in the Church we must struggle for the faith of others and walk in faith in Jesus.
God gives His people all the riches that are in Christ and calls us to make Him known to others.

Since we have a such a great salvation, but do not yet have it in full, we press on in Christ.
Christians need to be the examples of the selfless service and sacrifice seen in our Lord Jesus.

Jesus came because of His love towards us. The Father showed His love towards us by sending the most precious Christmas gift of all, His Son, Jesus Christ to be the propitiation for our sins.

11-18-18: Thanksgiving! [Nehemiah 11-12]
~ The people of God celebrate His faithfulness through song and sacrifice.

God is a faithful God who is always working toward redemption and restoration in the world, and He does it through His people. But He will never do something great through us until He does something significant in us first.

Comparing ourselves to others brings a false sense of righteousness and prevents us from dealing with the sin in our lives.
Timing is Everything. . . To be in God's present kingdom we must be personally related to God's King Jesus
The way into the Kingdom of God is not through self-righteousness, or background, but is through laying down of self and accepting God's invitation freely given out of His love.

To have faith that endures trials, remember God’s work in the past, present, and future.

Can we find meaning in life through collecting power, cheerful activity, and common destiny?
Can we find meaning in life through collecting power, cheerful activity, and common destiny?
What happens when we seek ultimate meaning outside of relationship with the Creator God? What happens when we’re desperate for the answers to life but can't seem to find any? What happens when our souls get wearied from the constant pursuit of pleasure and possessions? These are enormous questions of life and meaning that Ecclesiastes grapples with in the timeless complexity and messiness of reality. In the end, the ancient philosopher recalibrates our hearts, minds, and lives to pursue meaning in the Ultimate God because God alone holds the key to the meaning of life.
Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover. (Step 2) “Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
Realize I’m not God; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable. (Step 1) “Happy are those who know that they are spiritually poor.”
Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control. (Step 3) “Happy are the meek.”
Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust. (Steps 4 and 5) “Happy are the pure in heart.”

Reserve a time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will. (Steps 10 and 11)
Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others when possible, except when to do so would harm them or others. (Steps 8 and 9) “Happy are the merciful.” “Happy are the peacemakers”
Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and my words. (Step 12) “Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires.”
Everything Jesus had preached and said seemed to be in vain; He was dead; His followers were scattered and without hope. Yet, after 3 days, Jesus arose from the grave just as He had said He would, appeared in person to some of the women who followed Him whom He then instructed to tell His disciples about His resurrection. True to His word, He was alive! Death and sin were defeated!
After the last meal with His disciples, they went to the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus went to pray to His Father about His coming death and cup of suffering. He was arrested without cause by the authorities, His disciples all fled, He was illegally tried by the Sanhedrin, and condemned to death by Pilate for claiming to be God.
When Jesus arrived at Jerusalem, He rode into the city on a young colt, the mark of a triumphant king. Not understanding, the crowds shouted "Hosanna!" They thought He was going to set up His Kingdom. But Jesus came as the servant who was to give HIs life; and to that end, at dinner, a woman poured perfume over Him to prepare Him for burial. Even as the religious authorities were conspiring to kill Him and He was being betrayed by Judas, He ate one last mean with His disciples, offering Himself as the Passover Lamb.
As the time approaches for Jesus' crucifixion, He speaks to Peter, James, John and Andrew about the fall of Jerusalem, about the events in the future days, and about His return to the earth in glory. He warns the disciples (and hence He warns us) to be alert and watchful to what will happen regarding the coming of HIs Kingdom.
The Jewish authorities question and then reject Jesus, whereupon Jesus teaches about the rejection of God's messengers, taxes, the resurrection, the greatest commandment, the Lordship of the Messiah, and the Godly attitude in giving.
Jesus arrives at Jerusalem as King, and cleanses the Temple. The religious authorities begin to plot His death, and He teaches the 12 about faith.
As He travels, Jesus blesses children and teaches about child-like faith, shows how riches can block one's coming into the Kingdom of God. In teaching more about the Kingdom, He speaks to the 12 about His death, and of true servanthood. In a picture of the opening of one's spiritual eyes, He heals another blind man.
Jesus continues to speak of His coming death. He takes Peter, James and John up a mountain and is transfigured before them, but orders them not to tell anyone. Later, He heals a boy from demon possession, and continuing towards Jerusalem, teaches about humility, about dealing with sin, and about divorce.
Jesus heals a blind man, and asks the 12 who He is. Peter confesses that Jesus is the Son of God; but Jesus warns them not to tell anyone. He then predicts His death, which marks the turning point in His ministry. He is now to head to Jerusalem and the cross. He preaches that those who follow Him must lose their lives to save them.
Jesus feeds more than 4000, creating food for all from 7 loaves of bread and a few fish. Still the Pharisees ask for a sign, but Jesus says no sign will be given. He then warns the 12 about the false hope of the religious and the world system, and marvels at their lack of understanding.
Jesus and the 12 withdraw from Galilee, and He continues to teach and minister from town to town. John the Baptist is beheaded by King Herod. Jesus feeds 5000 men and those with them, and walks on water, again proving who He is by these and more miracles. In the face of this, the opposition of the Pharisees and the Jewish religious establishment mounts. Though Jesus confronts His opposition, He nevertheless by so doing seeks to show them the true Kingdom of God.
Jesus chooses the 12 Disciples, calls the crowd to follow HIm, teaches the crowd about the Kingdom of God through parables. He continues to perform more miracles, all of which attest to His power and authority over the physical. the material and the spiritual. However, He is rebuffed in His home town where people took offense at Him and showed an amazing lack of faith.
Jesus begins His ministry in Galilee, calls Simon, Andrew, James, John and Levi to follow HIm. He performs miracles in the region, thus providing proof of who He is. However, the opposition of the Pharisees and the Jewish religious establishment begins; still the crowds flock to Him.
Who is Mark, the writer of this gospel, and what is his approach to the gospel story? The messenger prepares the way for the Messiah. The Messiah is introduced, then tempted.
We all enjoy Christmas, and celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus. But what was His birth all about? What was God doing? What should be our view of the Advent? As He comes this Christmas, how will you reveal His light?
Joseph was engaged to Mary and everything was going along fine until he learned from her that she was going to have a child. What did Joseph think when he learned of Mary's pregnancy? What did he think of the messages he received from God? What was his view of this most important event?
The wise men (also called magi) who came to see Jesus after his birth lived 100s of miles away to the East, and they were not at all Jewish. What was their view of this most important event?
Shepherds were on the bottom rung of the social ladder in the time of Jesus' birth. Why did God involve them in the events surrounding the Advent? What was their view of this most important event?
We don't know a lot about angels. Yet they were involved in the Advent. What was their view of this most important event as interested bystanders? As messengers? As heavenly cheerleaders? As worship leaders? As interpreters?
As believers and followers of Jesus, we can expect trials and suffering, but in them we must continue to live in a way that honors HIm, doing good and trusting ourselves to God.
As believers and followers of Jesus, we are to live harmonious lives, constantly doing good as examples to the world of Jesus, even in the face of opposition.
As believers and followers of Jesus, we are to live in voluntary submission to His lordship, but also to employers and spouses.
Those who come to faith in Christ have an eternal inheritance in heaven, a salvation that is the basis on which one can live in hope for the future with joy in all things in the present
We who have a genuine faith in Christ are to live our lives in holiness because God the Father is holy, and this includes loving one another, ridding ourselves of the impure and unholy, and feeding on God's word.
As believers and followers of Jesus, we are being built as His people, full of mercy, for the purpose of reflecting His glory to the world.
