Even after 2 unfortunate incidents of wall collapse in Pune which claimed 20 lives, PMC is seen doing very less about structures that can collapse anytime. When Mandee & Kabir picked up the issue of the wall between 2 societies from Kharadi, PMC officials were only seen giving instructions and sending notice to the builder but there was no action taken. Even after 10 days since the notice was served nothing happened and this is when Mandee & Kabir decided to call PMC officials and ask them about the negligence that may cause a similar accident. A listener spotted an estranged horse at the same spot over a week and immediately called up RJ Mandee & Kabir to rescue it. Manee & Kabir called Khadki Cantonment Board for almost 5 times to reach the exact concerned person as everyone simply kept passing the ball to another. But Mandee & Kabir did not give up and made sure the horse is rescued. Finally after a rigorous follow up of almost 3 hours the horse was rescued. We can’t create water but can at least save it. With the same thought we began a campaign urging Punekars to identify such locations around the city where the water is being wasted. To which Ms Roma replied complaining about Camp area’s registry office where she saw a water tank overflowing and causing hundreds of liters of water going waste every day for last 16 yrs. Mandee & Kabir dealth this problem very tactfully by becoming the alarm clock for the staff of registry office and giving them a call every morning and reminding them about switching off the pump on time. They did this for 21 days straight cause they say it becomes a habit when you do a certain thing regularly for 21 days. After 21 days it was not an end as Mandee and Kabir thought of finding a permanent solution to the problem and decided to set up an automated system to stop the leakage.
Our client, Anushka Aquasys came on board to set up the system for free and things fell in place. And finally this automated system is set up and the water leakage is stopped. Imagine what amount of water must have got wasted in last 16 yrs.
Thanks to Ms Roma for her vigilance as a citizen, Mr Ashok Lembhe who installed the system from his own pocket, the staff of registry office for their co-operation and Mandee & Kabir for their continuous follow up and a unique way of campaigning. It’s so fulfilling when you use the power of radio to bring about a real change.

Minakshi Waland, from Gujarat wanted a baby but medical complications made her dream impossible and when Pune's Dr Shailesh Puntambekar came to her help. They suggested transplant of her mother's uterus to her. Without thinking much her mom agreed as she was ready to sacrifice anything and everything for her daughter. The transplant was successful and after a long wait of almost 9 months an angel was born creating history. Catch the emotional journey of Sushilaben who gave her uterus, Minakshi who's dream of having a baby came true and the Team of doctors who made history.
It's about a shocking incident where a Dehradun school girl was raped and the school allegedly kept under wraps the gang-rape of a minor student, who became pregnant, for over a month. The school instead of approaching the police allegedly tried to hush it up by threatening to throw her out of the school. But this was not the end, when she approached another school for admission, the school denied her the admission for she being the rape victim. Imagine what humiliation the girl and her family must be going through.
Knowing about this incident, RJ Mandee thought of taking this up and called Adv Aruna Negi Chauhan who is fighting the case for the girl. RJ Mandee got to know from her that despite her complaining about school denying the admission to the girl no authorities replied her with what is being done to ensure justice to the girl.

A very unfortunate accident happened on a busy road of Juna Bazaar in Pune in which 4 lost their lives and several other severely injured. This was due to lack of safety measures and negligence in dislocating a hoarding frame by Railway officials. We talked to the victims’ relatives and when they expressed their disapproval towards compensation money. When asked to Railway officials they were left with no explanation.
Gayatri Pathak, a journo and a social worker was there when the accident happened. She suddenly rushed an injured auto driver to nearby hospital when nobody came forward. RJ Mandee and Kabir made sure this story reaches out to Punekars so that next time people start helping accident victims. She didn’t stop there, being a social worker she came forward and adopted a deceased auto driver’s kids. When we are constantly being bombarded with negative news this was something positive that we loved sharing and RJ Mandee and Kabir portrayed it in an aspirational way.
No doubt, sanitation is important but at what cost? Imagine what all these sanitation workers have to go through when they have to clean gutters, sewers, public toilets, etc. Manual scavenging is so bad a practice that it may lead to hazardous skin diseases like skin cancer. Despite several voices demanding to stop these practices there is very little being done. Hence an NGO from Pune called Dalit Adivasi Adhikar Andolan wrote a letter to PM to draw his attention towards the problem. She was determined to find out the owner of the wallet as it had a debit card and driving license. So someone may get into trouble if these things are misplaced. So we decided to find the owner out and started a dial-in on the show. We had a few hints from the things in the wallet. We knew the name and his Nagpur address. We called up a couple of people whose visiting cards were there in the wallet. They all didn’t know this Rahul. Then we thought of taking the help from Red FM Nagpur to reach him. So we called up RJ Saurabh from Nagpur, asked him to find out his residence. The Nagpur team all charged up got on to this mission and after almost 2-3 hours of search they finally reached his house. The family of Rahul was informed about the found wallet, they confirmed his identity and we had reached the owner. The best part of it was even Rahul’s family couldn’t believe how can a radio station from 2 cities go to this extent to return someone’s wallet. They had no words to express their joy. And we were happier to see their glowing faces. This is what Radio can do.
