Going forward The Infinitely Focused Podcast will bring on creators and change makers as well as some deep dives into topics that challenge the mind and expand our field of view. There will be interviews and discussions on a broad range of topics. There may still be some solo shows, but those will be informed by the ever expanding conversations that the episodes spark.
On this show, James sits down with Elaine Buck and Beverly Mills, the two woman authors of "If These Stones Could Talk: African American Presence in the Hopewell Valley, Sourland Mountain and Surrounding Regions of New Jersey" for an hour long conversation about history, mystery, researching the past and what comes in the future.
In a return to the airwaves, The IF Podcast's host has a disucssion that was 50 years in the making. Taken from a photgraph posted in the local paper in 1970, James talks with to kindergarten classmates, one of their mothers, and their 97 year old kindergarten teacher who remembers them and remembers the significance of their Christmas Play, 50 years before. This is a rough edit, posted so that people could enjoy it with their Christmas Dinner. A re-upload is planned. This is primarily for those who participated.
After several weeks away from this podcast for some much needed cleanup of my storage units and even more needed upgrades to my home podcast studio, I am back on air bringing great news about support and listnership to this channel. I'm also back with enhanced equipment and renewed focus on my production quality and the abilities of my podcast to bring in quality guests and expand our reach.
This is a very brief episode that continues on from Episode 8 and continues the idea that where we allow our minds and bodies to take us can lead to freedom for both. The Underground Railroad of ideas and the freedom from the constrictions of our doubts can take us to places only once dreamed of. As we upgrade the equipment and environment where TIFP is produced, we hope that listeners will continue to come onboard and share the podcast with others and also contribute ideas and suggestions to make this channel even better.
A walk in Cadwalader Park in Trenton, NJ inspired me to take a path that I had not traveled before and showed me a new perspective of a space that I previously thought I knew well.

Some people seem to think that setting a financial goal for a company that far exceeds where you are today or where you or they have ever imagined makes for a greedy and selfish lifestyle. I argue here that desiring to make a greater living and desiring to create a fortune while helping other people do the same is not inherently bad. Desiring to make money for the sake of providing is not the root of all evil. It forms the roots of success and happiness and provides the basis needed to make your life, and that of those you Love and want to support a bit easier. It could be said that the lack of money is more evil than the pursuit of it as a worthy goal to help others.
I've Always been a huge fan of Talking Heads and so I took my Love for their 1980's song Once In A Lifetime and turned that into my source material for this, the 3rd episode of TheIFpodcast. I think Once In A Lifetime is a great metaphor for the success journey and for the ways in which I took on my writing and recodring. When I recorded this episode and sent it our for review back in early February 2020, I had no idea that Byrne would go on to host Saturday Night Live on February 29 after 31 years and celebrate the song again following his American Utopia residency. I highly recommend that you look for that performance online and enjoy his amazing talent again.
Using The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King's Sermon (Delivered February 4, 1968) on topic of "The Drum Major Instinct" as a guide, I speak about my reasoning for the creation of this podcast and the brand that surrounds it.
King speaks of Service To Many or To All as the Way To become Great. He also speaks of his own eulogy and how he wants to be remembered. Sadly, this was the last sermon he was to preach to his congreation. He was killed 2 months later.
King says that Jesus did not condem James and John for their desire to be first or significant. He simply reordered their priorities and told them to keep feeling a need for being first, but he wanted them to lead in Love and generosity.
He wanted them to earn their place.
He told them that to be great, they need to serve. And to be greatest, he told them they must be a servant to all.
So, I use that ideal to guide me in my reading and preparations for this podcast. Every episode takes me into my self and into so much reading and study. I put in that work to make certain that I only share what will move us all forward.

So that with the tools and skills that I have been Blessed with, I may serve and be a help to as many as I can reach.
I hope to be an instrument of help and change in my own community and beyond.
